A week later

Jamie was at work, Eddie was home, Ryan was playing baseball with his friends for fun, and the twins were at at Danny and Maria's having a play date with Isabella.

Alaina had Cade over to work on there summer school work together. They both read the same book so the worksheets would be the same.

Jamie and Eddie really liked him, he was respectful, a believer, not awkwardly shy, funny, and came from a good family.

Eddie was getting some laundry folded when her phone rang, she got called into work early. She quick got ready in the midst of rearranging plans with the 3 other kids before she ran down the steps.

"I gotta go into work now instead of later, Maria's going to bring the girls home later, Ryan's going home with a friend from the team, can your mom or dad come get you?" Eddie asked Cade, they were at the kitchen table doing their work.

"Should be able to, I'll text her." He got his phone out.

"Great, dad should be home soon. I gotta run though, I don't have time to wait for your mom." Eddie glanced at her watch.

"She said she's leaving in 5." He read his phone.

"Okay good…" Eddie went back and forth looking at both of them. Two 14 year olds who liked each other, home alone, for no more then 15 minutes…?

"We'll be fine mom." Alaina assured.

"Remember the rules…because if I find out that-"

"Mom we're not gonna do anything." Alaina assured again. Cades face was priceless, blushing with embarrassment.

"Okay. I trust you guys. But I'm always watching…" she backed away slowly and pointed at her eyes and then to them before she left. She really did trust them for 15 minutes, but she had to scare them a little.

——

When Eddie got to work she talked to Jamie briefly, he was on his way out.

"Catch a case?" He wondered why she was here early.

"I guess, not sure yet, maybe an undercover." She shrugged.

"Maybe. Guess I have to pick up the girls?" He wondered.

"No, Maria will drop them off. And Cades mom should've got him by now." She checked the time.

"What?" Jamies face went blank.

"Well I couldn't take him home, she was on her way but I had to leave."

"You left Alaina and him home alone?" He questioned.

"Um yes…for 15 minutes." She scowled and crossed her arms.

"Eddie! Do you know what can happen in 15 minutes!?" He argued.

"Oh stop it Jamie! They're 14!" She shouted back.

"Exactly!" He said trying not to draw attention and pulled out his phone.

"…If this was Ryan?!" She raised her brows. Jamie hung up the phone and sighed.

"Trust them. They haven't given any reason not to."

"Yet." He added.

"Jamie." She cocked her head and watched him leave.

———

When Jamie got home he hurried inside. Alaina was cleaning up her papers from the table.

"Hey dad." She said.

"Cade leave?" He asked out of breath.

"Um yeah?" She said.

"How long ago?"

"Like 10 minutes?" She was confused.

"No funny business?" He asked.

"Dad!"

"Answer me." He demanded.

"No more then a kiss."

"He kissed you!?" This was news to Jamie.

"He kissed me at the movies!" She told him, Jamie rubbed his neck in stress.

"Didn't mom tell you?" She asked.

"No she did not." Jamie was frustrated at Eddie for not sharing.

"Oh." Alaina felt awkward.

——

When Eddie got home later, Jamie and the kids were eating dinner at the table. They bombarded Eddie right away per usual.

"Hi mom." Ava said.

"Are you hungry?" Scarlett asked her.

"I made dinner." Alaina said.

"I'm gonna shower, I'll eat later." She said and headed upstairs. Jamie knew just from that, she was mad at him from earlier. Which wasn't fair, he's the one that's supposed to be mad.

Jamie finished his plate quickly so he could go up and talk to her. He told the kids they had to all help each other and clean up.

"Hey." He said catching Eddie before getting in the shower.

"What?"

"I'm supposed to be mad, not you."

"Oh. I didn't know I needed your permission for that too."

"What do you mean by that?" He asked.

"Well you clearly had a problem with me making the call to leave our 14 year old home alone with her boyfriend for literally 15 MINUTES! But TRUST me, if I would've known I needed to call you first and ask permission I would've!" She snarled back.

"Eddie stop that. I'm just surprised you left them."

"I didn't have much choice! I can't believe your mad at me for trusting our daughter?!"

"I trust her too, but the point is, I was 14 once." He pointed to himself.

"Well, guess what? NEWS FLASH so was I!" She said sarcastic.

"Why are you being like that?"

"Because, Jamie! When I was 14 I was NOTHING like her! I was lying to my parents, out with my friends, drinking, smoking, kissing boys! She shows absolutely NO signs of being anything like that! She does good in school, she's honest, she's a responsible babysitter, and the biggest one for me was that she called me to come get her when her friends were drinking at that sleepover. That's a good damn kid!" She rambled firmly.

"I guess." He sighed.

"You guess!? I mean, what the hell were you doing at 14!?" She wondered.

"I don't know. I think I tried my first cigarette and started trying alcohol with my friends."

"See. Alaina's different." She told him.

"Okay, well…how old were you when you first had sex?" He wondered.

"Ugh. I think 16. That was stupid." She shook her head at herself.

"Yeah that's young. I was 19."

"Really? That's old." She was surprised.

"Doesn't mean I wasn't a horny teenager. Jacking off to old playboy magazines I stole from Danny's room." He told her.

"I don't doubt that, but that's not the point. The point is, Alaina is our daughter, who we raised so far to be a perfect angel. If Cade would've tried to pull something on her…I trust her enough to know she'd stop it."

"Well you didn't tell me they kissed!" Jamie remembered.

"It's just a kiss! You would've found out soon enough!"

"Yeah matter of fact it was when I got home today, I asked about any funny business, and that's when she said about a kiss!" He said practically gagging on the thought.

"See!" Eddie pointed.

"I would've appreciated the heads up!"

"Jamie. I can't argue about this anymore, I have a headache, I'm tense, I just wanna take a hot shower." She put her hands up in surrender.

"Okay, did you catch an undercover case?" He wondered.

"Yeah, it's involved. It'll be fine but, it's gonna be a long one." She said with another sigh.

"Alright, well we can talk later." He decided to drop it all and leave her be. He could tell she was stressed with work, he didn't need to add to it anymore right now.

Poor Jamie is so protective over his daughter! Eddie is too but she handles it a little differently. What's he gonna do when it's the twins turn!? Haha. Leave your reviews!
