Chapter 14:

Calling It The Night

A few hours later, as the day was coming to an end and the day was turning to night, Twilight and her family safely made it back home to the castle and so did Ocellus.

Twilight was working her magic to control the sun and moon. As she was done raising the moon, Twilight then looked behind her and gasped, seeing Ocellus about to go into the castle. But Twilight didn't allow her as she ran towards the entrance whinnying angrily as the young Outsider Mare came to a stop and turned to Twilight.

The Alicorn Queen glared at the Outsider with hate and ferocity while Ocellus looked at her with shock, disbelief, and anger. Twilight then entered the castle still glaring at Ocellus as the Outsider Alicorn just watched her go in. If just looks could kill, Ocellus would've been dead.

Ocellus couldn't believe that she wasn't allowed to enter the Castle. But she does know that just because Twilight let her joined her band, it doesn't mean she could go into the palace that is home to the queen and her family. Or that the Queen would trust her immediately.

Seeing that she isn't allowed to sleep in the castle, Ocellus moved away from the castle and walked off. Dusk saw what happened and watched Ocellus as she headed on over to a tree, looking at the Castle before laying down with her head looking away with a sneer.

Feeling bad for the Outsider, Dusk headed on over to talk to her. Sometimes he didn't understand his mother. How was Ocellus supposed to prove herself if she wasn't even allowed in their home?

"Hey, I just want to say you're welcome for me saving your life today," Dusk said as Ocellus turned to him, reminding her how he saved her life from the fire earlier.

Ocellus scoffed and chuckled, "What kind of rescuer are you anyway, Prince Dusk? You almost got yourself killed out there while rescuing me," She said, reminding Dusk how he almost got himself hurt and killed in the fire.

"What is that suppose to mean?" Dusk asked with a confused look, wanting to know what she is saying.

"You wouldn't last three days on your own," Ocellus said with a smirk, trying to look a little smart.

"Oh! And I suppose a mare like you could teach a stallion like me?" Dusk asked with a sarcastic smile while Ocellus looked away from him.

Ocellus turned to him with a small smile and chuckled, "Yeah," She said as she started to move away.

"Dusk!" Twilight called out as Dusk heard his mother calling him to come back inside.

"Coming!" Dusk shouted back before turning to Ocellus with a challenging smirk.

Then he got in front of Ocellus stopping her, and announced, "Alright, Ocellus. To impress me, we start practice at dawn,".

Dusk then heads inside the Castle as Ocellus watches him leave and chuckled lightly.

"I look forward to it," Ocellus said with a smile on her face, accepting the offer. Though really she was also thinking of ways she might be able to get the Alicorn Queen.

Meanwhile, not too far from the Castle, Stone Heart and Aria were sitting on a hill watching Ocellus. Aria was shocked from what she just saw Ocellus do and started panicking like crazy.

"Father, did you see that?! She let him go! If that were me…" Aria exclaimed, turning to Stone Heart, who was rolling his eyes at his daughter's impatience and immaturity.

"Hush, Aria! The fire rescue worked perfectly and Twilight and her son fell for it. Now the closer Ocellus gets to the Prince, the closer she gets…to Twilight," Stone Heart explained to Aria how the plan will play out.

"And once she has Twilight alone…" Stone Heart snarled as he uses his dark magic to blast a tree branch near Aria into splinters as Aria ducked out of the way, seeing the point.
