Chapter 23:
Love Will Find A Way
Meanwhile, at nighttime far ahead of Dusk, Ocellus was wandering through a field with her head down in sadness and shame until she saw a pair of two white birds appear out of the grass in front of her and flew into the night sky together. Seeing those birds together made Ocellus more sad and lonely for they reminded her of the times she spent with Dusk.
Ocellus then moved on as singing was heard…
Female Singer: In a perfect world
One we've never known
We would never need to face the world alone
In a field, a herd of Deer came to a stop, but one pair of Deer ran off before stopping and nuzzling each other. Not too far from them, Dusk saw them nuzzling and became saddened, remembering how he nuzzled Ocellus when she was feeling depressed and hurt. Dusk then moves on to continue his search for Ocellus, leaving the deers alone. It seemed like every creature was with the one that they loved. He knew that he really wanted to see Ocellus again.
Male Singer: They can have the world
We'll create our own
I may be brave or strong or smart
But somewhere in my secret heart, I know…
In a forest, Ocellus saw two butterflies fluttering together and in the trees to her left, she saw a pair of squirrels nuzzling each other. Turning her attention to the butterflies, Ocellus follows them until she stopped and then headed up a tree branch where she looked into the starry night sky.
Female Singer: Love will find a way
Anywhere I go
I'm home
If you are there beside me
Male Singer: Like dark turning into day
Somehow we'll come through
Now that I've found you
Love will find a way
Above the night sky, Ocellus could see the constellations of the baby Rabbit and the two fighting Alicorns that she and Dusk have spotted together on their stargazing activity. Yet, it only made her sadder as she laid down on the branch feeling greatly depressed and lost…
In the pond below, a reflection of Dusk was seen laying on the same branch as he looked down and saw that his reflection was still one-half with nothing to fill in the blank half as a single leaf came down and gently landed on the water creating ripples
Then Dusk looked ahead and got up when he saw something moving within the reeds. Dusk smiled, thinking it might be Ocellus. But unfortunately, it turns out to be just a frog leaping out of the reeds and splashing into the water.
Dusk's smile faded and became a sad frown as he sadly moves on. But no matter where he looked he just couldn't find the mare he loved with his heart.
Female Singer: I was so afraid
Now I realize
Love is never wrong
And so it never dies
There's a perfect world
Male and Female Singer: Shining in your eyes
Meanwhile, Ocellus was in a field of white, sitting down and feeling more and more lost and alone. She was ashamed of herself for not telling Dusk the truth and leaving him behind when she was exiled. Yet, what haunted her more was how everyone was comparing her to Chrysalis with her lies and harmful nature and saying that her destiny was supposed to be like Chrysalis. She couldn't help but wonder if Dusk thought the same thing of her.
But then Ocellus's eyes widened with a realization for she now knows something. She's nothing like Chrysalis nor was her destiny supposed to be like hers. Ocellus could walk down her own new path and be with the pony she loved with her heart.
While Ocellus was thinking and having some realizations, behind her, Dusk spotted her by a nearby hill and smiled as he walks up to her. Ocellus felt somepony was behind her so when she looked behind herself and saw Dusk, she smiled at him and Dusk smiled back.
Male and Female Singer: And if only they could feel it too
The happiness I feel with you
They'd know
Love Will Find A Way
Anywhere we go
We're home
After a moment of smiling and seeing each other again, Ocellus and Dusk approached each other and embraced lovingly. While Dusk had his eyes closed, Ocellus gave him a small kiss on the cheek, surprising the prince. Dusk's expression then changed from surprised to a comprehending one as he watched Ocellus walking off and followed her.
Male and Female Singer: If we are there together
Like dark turning into day
Somehow we'll come through
Now that I've found you
Love will find a way
As the last lyrics were sung, Dusk and Ocellus played for a bit as they walked up a small hill and sat down with each other. Then Ocellus remembered something she wanted to show Dusk as she and he looked down and like magic, Ocellus gently moved away some ash to reveal a tiny sprout to Dusk.
Dusk looked at the sprout surprised before turning to Ocellus with a happy smile. Ocellus smiled too for they know that deep down they are meant for each other and they loved each other with all their hearts, no matter what their parents said about them.
Male and Female Singer: I know Love Will Find A Way
And like that, Dusk and Ocellus leaned in closer to each other and gave a romantic loving kiss to each other as the wind blew around them blowing away all the white ash and green grass that began to appear.
Ocellus then noticed two butterflies hovering above them and began chasing them laughing playfully. Dusk joined in and laughed as well as the two love Alicorns played around and rolled in the grass near a pond, laughing. Ocellus managed to pinned Dusk as they calmed down and Dusk kissed Ocellus on the cheek too.
"Dusk, look. We are one," Ocellus said, looking at the pond and noticing how their reflections are connected together to make one reflection.
"What?" Dusk asked in a whisper, remembering that saying he heard from his mother when he was a colt.
"Let's get outta here, Dusk. We'll run away together, have our own kingdom, and a band all our own," Ocellus said, thinking they deserve to have their own destiny and paths.
Dusk chuckled, as much as he wants to be with Ocellus and have his own future with her, he realized where their only one true place really is.
"Ocellus, we have to go back," Dusk said, nuzzling the Outsider.
"You're kidding. But we're finally together," Ocellus said, feeling rather confused about Dusk's choice about going back home.
"Our place is with our families, Ocellus. If we leave together, then they'll be divided forever." Dusk explained to Ocellus, knowing that there could be trouble with their bands if they leave.
Ocellus has put some thought about what Dusk has told her and he might be right.
