Hi guys! Are you okay? I hope so! Thanks for all the reviews! So how about we go to the chapter? This is a really emotional chapter (or so I think) and kind of has an explicit scene. Let's go!
District 21 - Saturday night
"They have been missing for one day and a half! What do we have so far?" Antonio asks.
One day and a half ago
Erin arrives at the district, glad for getting some quality hours of sleep after the difficult gang war case they all worked hard on in the last two weeks. Waking up and working in the early morning are a routine she got used to but she hates even having lived her last years as a teenager and the beginning of her career with Voight and her current boyfriend Jay is a former Ranger. Both love it and insist on her picking this routine but she just can't. That's the reason she went to her apartment and not his the night before, probably he would have already arrived at the district like Voight and he would try to drag her and, having the opportunity authorized by her boss to arrive an hour later than usual, she would be insane not to accept.
She greets some cops as going up the stairs towards the Intelligence's bullpen, already expecting Voight's door to close with him inside and Jay advancing some paperwork.
As the family they are, love is what circles around them and keeps them together besides the arguments. And the inside jokes can't be missing. Except for Voight (because it's not suggested joking of him or his acts to not receive his death glare), they joke about Jay and his habit of arriving early. They all know the 'working before the sun rise' routine was taught during his time in the military and, as they all said, once a soldier, always a soldier. Another thing they know is that usually Jay arrives after Voight but happened five time because the case hit too close home and not lose any single detail, he slept on the uncomfortable couch's breakroom, or he had a nightmare and appeared on the job before Voight to keep him distracted from the demons of his past surrounding him. So when she stops at the end of the stairs and firstly finds herself alone in the bullpen, she is excited.
"I arrived before they! More reasons to joke!" She murmurs. However, approaching her desk in front of Jay's, she notices his jacket on his table and his computer turned on. "He already arrived." She walks into Voight's office to find his mug of coffee, filled and cold and his computer turned on too. "He too." Urgently, she checks her phone in search of messages or calls of them notifying a crime scene but doesn't have any. "Where the hell are they?" Her happiness is replaced by worry about both but when she is about to call them, the intelligence's door is opened downstairs. "I arrived before you two, you know, you two hate our jokes but still give us reasons to continue!" She says excitedly, believing that Jay and Hank are arriving.
"You can't handle one of me, why do you want two?" Antonio's voice and appearance makes her jump. "Sorry for scaring you and good morning"
"Oh sorry Antonio. Good morning. I thought it was Jay and Hank." A strange feeling grows on her gut. "Have you talked to both today?"
"No, I haven't. And you?"
"No."
"Are they late? Have we arrived earlier than them? Unbelievable." He fakes dissatisfaction and disappointment but he is happy for the same motive as her.
"They already arrived because Jay's jacket is on his table, Sergeant's coffee is filled and cold by now and their computers are turned on. But they aren't here as you can see and they didn't send messages or anything." Antonio takes out of his pocket his phone and digits something on it. He's calling someone.
"Hank isn't answering." He digits again, obviously calling Jay now. "Neither Jay." He can see the worry growing up quickly behind Erin's stoic face and he can't deny the same on him. "I know that is weird but I wouldn't mind now. It's still 9:10 and we are just here. Maybe they have gone to talk to a C.I."
"Yes, maybe."
"Or they have gone to a father-in-law and brother-in-law breakfast. I smell a proposal and wedding coming…" he breaks the tension in the room and she laughs and sweetly punches him. It's another inside joke between them: when Jay is going to ask Voight's blessing to ask Erin in marriage. Erin always laughs and replies ironically to whomever asked while Jay becomes pale seeing the death glare directed at him by Voight in the distance, making everyone laugh.
"Shut up Antonio."
"I prefer this than two years ago being notified of a dead body of one of them and the killer would be the other because surely they would kill each other back then."
"That's right!" They chuckle thinking about their tense relationship two years ago, they seem like two lions who could kill each other if left alone as how much they frequently disagreed about how to roll an investigation, interrogations, Lonnie' and Pulpo's situation and his partnership (love interest) with Erin. Right now, especially after Shostak's and Keyes' case, the relationship between them changed, they still argue sometimes but certainly wouldn't kill each other (a fantastic advance). Suddenly, Erin's tone became serious again. "But what if something happened?"
"Come on." Antonio says, making his way downstairs followed by Erin trying to catch him up. "Sarge?"
"The work hasn't started yet and you two have already caused trouble?" As he approaches the reception, Sergeant Trudy Platt says ironically.
"Good morning to you too."
"Have you seen Jay and Hank here?" Erin goes straight to the point.
"I haven't seen them because I just arrived. Why?"
"Upstairs have indications that they have been here but, right now, they aren't. Before you ask, Antonio tried to call them unsuccessfully. We want to know if anyone has seen them."
"Officer Coz!" She calls a man about to go home after the night shift. "Were you the one who spent the night at the reception?"
"Yes, Sarge. Detectives" He answers hesitantly. "Why?"
"Me and my partner want to ask a couple of questions. That's all."
"Have you seen Detective Jay Halstead and Sergeant Hank Voight today?"
"Yes. Sergeant Voight arrived at 7:00 am and went upstairs directly. At 8:00 am, Detective Halstead arrived, greeted us and went upstairs too. But just minutes later, both went downstairs directly to Voight's car and went away."
"Have they said something about where they were going or heard about them later?"
"No. They haven't told us or heard them calling."
"Thanks Officer. You can go now." He nods and goes away to rest. Erin leans on the high balcony.
"Something happened. I feel it!" She looks at the ground and returns with an idea. "We can trace their phones!" She says, already making her way downstairs to the technology room, almost giving no time to the Sarge and her partner catching her up.
"Hi guys! Good morning!" They are greeted by Adam, Kevin, Alvin and Mouse arriving through the back door, all cheerful and laughing, in a blink of an eye they turn into worried faces. "What happened?"
"No one knows where Jay and Hank are. They already arrived earlier than us but went away around one hour and a half ago without reason and no one heard from them and they weren't answering their phones." Alvin stays quiet, Kevin passes his hand on his face while Adam murmurs a curse.
"I trace their phones now." Everyone turns at Mouse leaning on the door frame from the technology room looking at them. How did no one notice him entering there? "Both are in a warehouse 40 minutes away. Send the address to your phone now!" He disappears in the room again as Trudy returns to her post upstairs and the cops run to the location.
178 Marble road
The 40 minutes was tense. Each one of them lost in their thoughts. Even at the maximum speed permitted, contradicting Erin hurrying them, the drive passed in real slow motion. They split into two cars: Antonio, Erin and Alvin in one and Kevin and Adam in another. The work has just started and they are already searching for their missing teammates.
It is hard and stressful when a citizen goes missing. You learn as you enter the Police Academy to not take a case personally. In theory, it is easy. Wonderful world. In practice, it is impossible. You never know what can happen while there. If this happens with strangers, imagine with acquaintances or one of their own. Being cops doesn't help at all knowing what criminals can do with one entirely at his mercy is disgusting. They are completely blink. They can be missing or the d-word.
"They are alive." Erin murmurs to herself when Adam communicates by radio that they were close. Antonio keeps sharing worried looks with Alvin sitting on the backseat. Not in the way Hank and Jay can but they can read behind Erin's stoic face. Their minds come back when Nadia was killed. She took the hardest, leading her to spiral down in drugs together with her troubled mother until Jay needed to be saved. If something badly happens to her father figure and boyfriend, her fall would be deeper and perhaps without coming back.
"We arrive." It is a big worn out abandoned orange warehouse next to a busy road. By Mouse's researchers, it was used as the distribution point of different companies some years ago but it was closed for not following hygiene and safety laws. Parked in front of the gigantic doors, two cars. One unknown and the other…
"It's Voight's car!" Erin screams as getting out of the car before it decently stops, running in the direction of it as fast as she can. "Sarge? Jay? Can you hear me?" She quickly searched inside for any sign of them, unsuccessful. "Clear!" She says disappointed.
"This one is clear too" Adam says after doing the same on the other car.
"Ok, let's get inside." Antonio says. Luckily, the door was already open so they entered in formation, Erin, Kevin and Antonio on the principal floor while Adam and Alvin upstairs.
"Clear!" Except for Kevin, they all said at the same moment.
"Body!" Kevin says. They run to where Kevin is standing up behind a box looking at the body on the ground, feeling the worst. But it wasn't Jay or Hank. It was an unknown white man, who looked like 25-30 years old, black hair, more or less 1.75 meters with his throat slipped laying there. Next to him, has a black bag. "Who is he?"
"Matthew Tena." Al says. "He is Voight's C.I."
"Probably the owner of the other car outside." Adam says.
"What about the bag?" Erin picks it up and, after opening in pure shock seeing the content, she shows the team. "Jay's and Voight's guns, badges, radios and phones. It was an ambush." What they most feared is real.
"Central, this is Detective Dawson from Intelligence. We have a body on 178 Marble Road, roll crime lab. Detective Halstead and Sergeant Voight were kidnapped."
After that, the district becomes a mess without two of them. Platt arranges all the patrols to be at full Intelligence's disposal. Mouse promptly volunteered himself to settle down at Nadia's old desk to closely help the investigation. Antonio, for heredity, takes the lead on the investigation during Voight's absence. Also, he requests for Officer Kim Burgess upstairs who would be Lindsay's partner during Jay's absence.
"Crime lab found a syringe empty in the thrash with some blood on it." Burgess says. "The blood belongs to Voight. No fingerprints on it. Nothing was found indicating how Jay was knocked out."
"Ok, what about the cameras, Adam? Have some witnesses, Kevin?" Antonio asks again.
"No witnesses. The warehouse is isolated on that road." Kevin says.
"Just bad news." Adam says. "Remember that the mayor contracted another security company to the city?" Everyone nodded. "So they had uninstalled all the old cameras and, for our bad luck, in a space of about 10 kilometers they didn't install it again yet."
"Let me guess, our warehouse is inside this area?" Erin asks from Jay's desk (yes, she decided she wanted to be at his desk to make Burgess feel more comfortable in hers - they know the real reason).
"Exactly, right in the middle. And doesn't have any cameras on the few buildings surrounding the same area."
"What about enemies? Has someone who was recently released had threatened to avenge them?"
"I know a lot of enemies who will celebrate Hank's death so if we want to follow them, it will need the whole department." Alvin says. "On the other hand, the registered threats at Jay were by Bembenek and...Keyes."
"We have nothing. Excellent." Erin says sarcastically, leaning against Jay's chair. She is starting to reread the papers on her (temporary) desk when Antonio says.
"It's already 21:00, it's too late. Go home, rest and be here tomorrow at 8:00." He orders. Reluctantly, everyone follows except for Erin. "Erin, let's go."
"I still have to update Will as he asked." They all take a deep breath remembering last night's chaos. Will almost collapsed when he heard that Jay was missing. He, together with Casey, Severide and Connor arrived at the district at 20:00 yesterday to pick Jay, Adam and Kevin up for a drink and sports' rare meeting at Molly's to enjoy a night off. Will also complained about the delay in letting him know and wanted to have information about what they know so far. However, in addition to being classified information from an ongoing case, they didn't have the same to advance in the investigation. The only way to make him leave was promising an update every end of the day. The other doctor as well as the firefighters warned their teams, attempted a comfort in the middle of the war and made clear the full disposition in the search.
"Let me do it or do it in your home. I still have to call Gabby."
"How can I go home without them? It's almost two days and we have nothing. Absolutely nothing." Erin says. "I should have been at Jay's but I decided to go to my apartment to sleep properly. I should have made him pick me up on his way here."
"For what? For making us search for three cops instead of two cops?" He says. "Look, I know you are worried. I know what you have been through these last months. So do I. So do we. I had Diego kidnapped years ago. For me as a father, not knowing where your son is makes my blood boil. The same way you are feeling now, I felt back there and I'm feeling now. It's better not, however I can't be quiet now, the video sent to us with Jay being tortured is still on my mind. Never will be out. It was cruel. It was brutal. I know it is hard to go home and try to rest but we are going to be really useless, trust me." He sees tears sparkling in her eyes. "We are finding them."
"Thanks Antonio. I need it." Erin thanks with a little sad smile.
"You're welcome. Otherwise, if I don't take decent care of you while they aren't here, the first thing they will do is kill me and, I'm sorry, I have kids and my fear is dying in the hands of a former Ranger. I love my life!" He breaks again the tension in the room and reaches his objective seeing Erin smiling. His phone starts ringing. "It's Gabby...Hi, I was about to call you, please don't start screaming!...Wait, what?...Where?...Ok, thanks, we will meet there!"
"What happened?" She asks concerned after quietly watching as sequences of various emotions appear on his face while talking to his sister.
"Call the team right now and say to meet us at Chicago Med! Hank was dumped off in front of Firehouse 51 and they are taking him there now!"
Floating. He feels like he is floating in those masterpieces where a small boat navigates on a stunning and peaceful beach in the direction of the sunset. It is a magnificent rest after the torment of his life as Hank Voight in the chaotic, dirty, dark and known world. But wait, is he dead? He doesn't know. He doesn't know where he is but he knows he's lying on something comfortable. He is feeling nothing. Novelty. Suddenly, he is feeling like shit. Ok, this answers his own question, he is alive. His head is spinning and hurting to the point he wouldn't have been able to stand up by himself, thankful he is laying down. His body is numb. Insistently, he is trying to make his leg or arm move without success. Although his body doesn't work, his mind is excellent. His mind is racing at disoriented multiple thoughts, just one, a disturbing one, making sense. Jay. Tears return to his eyes. The last thing he remembers is the kidnappers knocking him out with a needle outside the cellar after Jay fell unconscious. After I had been forced to watch him being raped. He knows that his detective is alone. He knows what will happen. He knows he is his only chance of survival. Inside there he was helpless but outside is another story. The unmistakable and extremely irritating noise of the hospital's heartbeat machine is what he hears next. He is laying down on the hospital's bed. He had been found. It was about time when his team will be here or they already are. Awkwardly, everything is dark. Until he opens his eyes. Light. Direct at his face. The light room increased exponentially his headache. Voice. Better, a known and more than welcome voice.
"Hank? Are you awake?" Erin. Jay's girlfriend.
"Erin?" His voice is hoarse by nature but impressively it is even more, weak and almost inaudible.
"Yes! How are you?" Erin says and hugs him for some time, relieved he responds after a few attempts and waves to someone outside.
"Feeling like shit. Where am I?"
"Chicago Med." Antonio says as he enters his hospital room. Jay's big brother. Right after him, the doctor entered to quickly check him out. He explained that they had done a wash inside him to eliminate the dangerous high dose of Scopolamine in his blood. In addition to a bit of dehydration and malnutrition. As a consequence, he will be very dizzy and will have a hell of a headache for a couple of days so he suggested he take it easy and describe some medicines. Hank completely ignores his advice (true being told, he ignored the whole conversation completely lost in his previous concern) and asks, well, he orders his hurried discharge and not in a wheelchair, he can walk. Despite both cop's attempts to make him agree, the doctor doesn't know him well but had heard about his patient enough to notice his hurried, stressed and tensed state and to avoid more bad feelings, he "obeys" him.
"What happened? How did I end up here?" It takes 30 long minutes for Hank in his alone stubborn process to move his shaking body out of the bed, stand up on his shaking legs without collapsing and changing in some clothes brought earlier and he, supported by Erin and Antonio on each side, slowly and limping follows the doctor to the reception.
"You were dropped off in front of Firehouse 51." Arriving at the recepcion, he faces the whole unit. Almost. Kim is sitting on the corridor laying her head on Adam's shoulder, Kevin and Alvin are looking nowhere at the ground, Platt is walking back and forth while talking to the phone, Mouse is working on his computer next the door and, to his negative surprise, Commander Fischer stands on the corner. They see him, stand up, Platt goes to his direction and gives him a hug, being followed by all the Intelligence and asking how he is.
"I'm fine, don't worry!" lie.
"Voight..." he turned around in the direction of the voice. At the entrance door, a red-eyed and breathless Will. "Where's Jay?"
'Or I will let him go but you are going to stay forever with me as my sexual slave.'
'Let him go. I'm yours.'
'I'm...your...bitch. I...want...to...be...fucked...by...my...master.'
'Hurts…make...it...stop...please.'
'See for what reason he was created, Voight? To be fuck hard as my pet! Right, slut?'
Those scenes return to him more intensely. Jay hanging from the ceiling being beaten. His breathing becomes heavy and unstable. Jay being drugged with Ketamime. His body is shaking. Jay being touched. Everyone is calling his name but he can't answer. Jay being waterboarded, killed and resuscitated. He swears he can hear Nathan's laugh and see his damn malicious smile. Again being drugged but now with heroin and Viagra. Jay's agonized screams echo in his ears. Jay being molested. Tears form in his eyes. Jay being raped. He looks at them. Terrified, they all are staring at him back, pretending that the worse had happened for Hank's unusual reaction. He cries.
"I'm sorry. It is my fault!"
"Is he dead?" Adam quietly asks.
"No."
"Sergeant Voight…" Commander Fischer's authority and calm voice enters his ears, making him shiver. "What happened? Who is the kidnapper? Why were you just released? What happened with Detective Jay Halstead?" he asks, intrigued. Voight knows that, to rescue Jay, he is going to need to tell them. He is going to need to break them to rescue Jay. The world starts to move in slow motion. Looking directly and deep in everyone's eye one by one, takes a deep breath but is interrupted by Mouse cursing.
"The computer." Hank passed from everyone and stayed at the front of it. On it, the screen is showing a live feed. A dark small room, similar to a cellar, being illuminated only by the natural light from a dirty window on the wall they are facing. It's not possible to see the door, but it is possible to see a table on the right side. Different kinds of chains are around the room and multiple unidentifiable objects above the table. Gasps and curses come seeing what's laying on the concrete floor. Who is laying on the concrete floor more specifically. Jay Halstead. His awake battered form is chained to the ground by his hands, he tries to get up and fight against the chains but it's useless.
"Do you recognize the room, Sarge?" Kim, after a long time quietly processing the video, asks.
"Yes. We were in that room."
"Why is he...naked?" Al asks, unbelievable but suspicious of what happened. The major sick detail, which first went unnoticed, makes Hank create distance more from the group and avoid the interrogative looks. Will and Erin hug each other while tears form on their eyes as well as Kim's who hides herself in Adam's chest. Platt covers her mouth with her hands to muffle curses and 'no'. Adam, Antonio and Kevin's hands are closed tightly in punches as well as the jaw. Mouse is typing while shallows dry at the scene of his war brother. Alvin and Commander Fischer stay with their stoic faces.
"Mouse, can you track?" Hank ignores the question.
"No, it's untraceable. The PIN changes every 5 seconds." His disappointment is clear in his voice. At that moment, they hear the sound of a door opening. Jay immediately sat up and pushed himself away as long as the chains and the pain allowed him.
"Hi, my slut. We are finally alone." A shirtless man appeared on the screen.
"Fuck you. I'm not yours. Never will be."
"Oh, where's the well-behaved toy boy? Now playing the difficult one? You make me hard, bitch!"
"Voight is safe. He knows who you are. It will be a matter of time until he and the team find us. You are a dead man, your psycho!"
"Dead don't talk."
"What are you saying?"
"You need drawing, bitch? Do you think that I wasn't going to kill him once I had you?"
"Jay, please, don't believe in him." Hank whispers.
"You are fooling me, I know it."
"Do you want to see?" He searches for something in his back pocket. It's a photo. He shows it to Jay. The team had seen Jay angry on a lot of occasions but surprised themselves with his current reaction. His pale skin becomes red for pure fury and, as adrenaline is a miracle, he throws himself at the man and manages to kick him in the knee, sending the man to fall on the ground.
"YOU KILLED HIM! YOU PROMISED YOU WOULDN'T! I'LL KILL YOU!" Jay screams his lungs out while the man stands up recovering from the kick, doesn't do anything but it's noticeable his furiousness.
"I killed him in front of your team. Also, I told them you had asked me to kill him."
"What? They would never..."
"Believe me? Oh man, they did! They were so furious. They blame you. They hate you." Jay absorbs the words. "They told me how insignificant you are. How worthless you are. How you were always a burden to carry around. How bored they were about having you around. How they never considered you their family but, their merit, they fooled you so good you had believed. How suck you are as a cop. How suck you are as a friend, brother, partner and boyfriend. How much they wish you had died. Let's be straight, boy, have you ever thought they loved you? Have you ever thought they care about you? When I told my plans, they couldn't express in words their gratitude for me to stay forever with you and show what we agreed that you are really born for." Jay breaks down in unwanted tears. He approaches him by putting one hand on the zipper and another grabbing him by the hair. "You are worthless. You are a burden. You are a shame. You don't deserve to be loved. You deserve to be fucked. You are just my fucktoy, my whore, my bitch meant to beg on your knees for my cock in your holes." In one sudden movement, he kicks Jay in the head, making his crying disoriented form fall hard on the ground and, without ceremony or preparation, enters his hard cock in Jay's ass.
"NO!" The previously speechless team became a frightened messy noise. Hank screams, crying and falling to the ground on his knees. Commander Fischer made a distance from the computer and sat down on one of the chairs. Will, crying, storms out of the room. Erin is grabbed by Antonio before she can hit the ground and she cries her eyes out on his chest while his own tears streamed down his face but he can't escape from the impacting computer's screen. Kim is doing the same as Erin on Adam's chest, the man completely paralyzed in place. Kevin gives a punch on the wall next to him and lets himself slide to the ground, murmuring a prayer. Platt is also in tears for her Detective Chuckles and almost passed out if it wasn't for a half-turned Alvin whose stoic face is slowly breaking down. Mouse throws up at the closest trash and exists in the same way as Will. Jay isn't screaming. Jay isn't begging for mercy. Jay isn't crying out in pain and agony. Jay isn't fighting back. His tearful eyes are petrified, numb, looking out of nowhere. His body is boosted by the man's harsh thrust. The worst moment of their lives ends as the man ejaculates inside Jay and goes away, more tears fall from everyone's eyes. The mess was done. The break was complete. They had just watched Jay being raped.
"I'm sorry, Sarge. I'm sorry, team. He's telling the truth about me. Don't come…I don't deserve" Jay murmurs repeatedly until the screen goes dark and Hank runs away from the reception and from his broken team.
The team is completely broken! Poor them! Next chapter will have more of Jay and more emotional moments with all of them. See you soon!
