Sheldon Swifties LIX: "The X-Advisors…"

Summary: Like my Immortal Beloved bits in my Buffyverse stories, these are fragments and short bits, some longer…Just to fiddle with ideas, possibly forming longer tales later.

Part XLVII…

Penny, in circa 1996, albeit advanced University hospital, CCU bed, blinking open eyes, wearily…

"Amy…" she whispered up at Amy's beaming face. "Sheldon?" at Sheldon's anxious one on her other side.

"You're here…You're safe."

"You betcha, bestie." Amy nodded, squeezing her hand. "Sheldon and Barry saved my life."

"Barry? Oh…" Penny looked over… "Oh, Barry…I'm so sorry. But thanks." She whispered.

"Mrs. H." he gave smile, coming closer, waving. "Glwad to be of sewrvice."

"Mrs. H." she beamed, trying to sit up… "Leonard!"

Amy eyed Sheldon, Sheldon, Amy…

"Honey…" Amy tried.

"Penny…I won't lie to you." Sheldon took her hand.

"I know, he's gone." She nodded. "Can we get outta here? I'm fine. Oh! Amy, lil' Amy!" distraught look…

"Gran Mag sprung her. She's here." Amy nodded.

"You were the cutest thing, bestie." Penny smiled, lying back, exhausted.

"Thanks…I believe I was." Amy smiled.

"Ok, folks…" A nurse entered. "Lets get it down to two. And be ready to call it a day."

"I'll go. Good to see you, Mrs. Hofstadtewr." Barry smiled.

"Come here, you." She raised herself, he coming over a bit hesitantly. "Thank you…I'll do all I can to get you home." She kissed him.

"I'm fine. Nice place hewre, vewry fwriendly women." He smiled. "See ya latewr, Penny."

"Yeah…" she nodded, as he went out.

"Penny, you'll have to stay a day or so…" Sheldon told her. She eyeing him.

"I just passed out, shock…"

"Penny…" Amy, a bit firmly. "You never told us you'd had a heart attack. Did Leonard know?"

She eyed them… "It wasn't really an attack…I was in a bad place, drinking too much and not eating to keep my weight down…And then at a party. I never took anything like that again." Anxiously. "It wasn't serious damage or anything."

"You have a bad family history, Penny." Amy frowned. "We checked your family records while you've been in here…I thought it was strange you never mentioned your aunts or your maternal grandmother…They all died young of heart disease…Forties to fifties."

"I was fine. My mom's ok. My dad's family is great. I didn't want Leonard getting all…Leonardy about it." Slight pout.

"Well, the doctors here think you just had a minor second attack. And you're staying here till they finish testing you." Amy, firmly.

"And I'm cross-checking all results." Sheldon firmly.

Frown… "Fine…But what about Dr. Francis? He got away, didn't he?"

"He's out and about, yes." Amy nodded. "Nor have we located adult Susan yet." Sigh.

"But he must be staying in the area…And sooner or later we'll find him. Amongst other things he has to tap the current Xavier's funds in the accounts in town and back at Princeton." Sheldon noted.

"The other one…" frown. "He's probably helping him, rat-bastard." Weary tone.

"You need to sleep." Amy insisted.

"No! Don't go, don't leave me!" feebly trying to rise.

"Of course not, we're staying right here till they throw us out." Amy nodded. "But you need to sleep. Tomorrow we can worry about the rest."

Sigh… "Ok. Just stay…Please…I couldn't bear seeing you vanish…Amy, I saw Leonard. We were dancing but he couldn't stay…Why couldn't he stay?" sleepily.

"I don't know, bestie. But he didn't leave you. He never would."

"Right. Right…He's here, with me. Waiting for me, soon as we get you all set to rights. Howard… We gotta help Howard…And Bernadette…And the babies…"

"Not tonight, Penny. Tonight you just have to sleep…And go back to dancing with Leonard…" Sheldon told her. Eyeing Amy.

"Will you…Both?" she eyed them.

"Of course…" Sheldon nodded. "We've been practicing the round version while you slept before…Amy?"

Amy pulling chair, taking Penny's hand… "Soft kitty, warm kitty…Little ball of fur…"

Sheldon, by her side… "Sleepy kitty, happy kitty, purr, purr, purr…"

Amy… "Soft kitty…Warm kitty…"

Sheldon, just after… Soft kitty…Warm kitty…"

"Little ball of fur…" Amy…

Penny, snoring…Amy beaming at Sheldon as he continued… "Little ball of fur…"

Together… "Sleepy kitty, happy kitty…Purr, purr, purr…"

"Jesus!" Sheldon jumping as Penny gave huge snore.

"Shhh…" Amy, frowning.

"I always thought that was some animal trapped in the building…It was Penny all the time." He shook head.

"My God, was Leonard in love with her." He noted to Amy's nod. "Amy? 'Soon as she gets us all to rights'?" anxious look.

"Grandma will help. She's dealt with grieving and depressive patients. If we can't get her back…We'll see she's happy as we can make her."

"Ok, folks…Time's up." A nurse poked her head in. "She needs to sleep now."

"I should stay." Amy insisted. "Can't I just sleep here?"

"No…Sorry. Out." The nurse, sternly.

"We got this…" Sheldon hissed as Amy frowned, then eyed his raised eyebrow look.

Oh…Nod.

"We'll just wait in the waiting room. As it's designated for waiting." Sheldon noted, causal air.

"Fine." The nurse nodded, noting instrument results on her clipboard chart. "I'll call you when she's awake or you can leave your phone number."

"Thanks…" Amy beamed.

You sure…? She eyed Sheldon as they went out.

"I've slipped into better cardiac care units for unauthorized self-testing than this, girl." He noted.

"I love you, Sheldon."

"So…"

"So…" beam.

"We've met…" young Sheldon told a rather rapturous young Amy. "Penn Station, last year."

"Your petition went through?"

"I've been waiting to hear and sending follow up letters." He nodded.

"I did, too." Beam.

"Yes…Uh, Amy…" Margaret had hurried over to the pair, as the rest of the group waited for Sheldon and Amy, in the waiting room near the CCU, she rather concerned.

Not really the best thing perhaps, for them to begin their romance quite this soon…

"Gran?" she turned.

"Come and sit with me, a moment."

"That's probably wise…" Sheldon to Amy's sighing. "Our passion may be dangerous at this point in time. But we already know our destiny." Smile.

She smiling…

"Now, Amy!" stern look at young Sheldon. Watch yourself, you, her look said as Amy dutifully followed her, longing glance back.

A time for us…One day there'll be… She pictured Sheldon in medieval minstrel costume, playing a lute to the theme of "Romeo and Juliet".

And we have the living proof in the next room…She beamed.

Stein watching from his seat, by the returned Kripke, unable to curb a smile at Sheldon…

Impressive.

About a half-hour later, evening settling in, the hospital parking lot…

Margaret, having suggested it was best the Amys, both likely targets of Susan Stein the elder, and adult Sheldon stay with her, had come face to face with an immovable object, namely the slight figure of her granddaughter.

"I don't like this…" young Amy, determinedly set face. "Sheldon go back home, alone? With these evil people about, who know where my beloved lives."

Young Sheldon, perhaps a tad uneasy himself, decided the best course was a bold front…

Hoping that others would provide a possible retreat…

"I'll be quite all right. I've lived alone for nearly two years at various locations."

"I should stay with him!" young Amy, firmly.

"I don't think…" adult Amy, carefully.

"You most certainly will not." Margaret, equally firmly.

Hmmn…Kripke eyed the trio…It's like watching a time-lawpsed video…Damn, if only I had a mowment to build a phwone chawrgewr, I could video this.

Sheldon, a bit nervous himself…If my younger self were harmed here, much as I accept the multiverse theory that it would not affect me…

"Or…" young Amy, slyly… "He could stay with us, Gran."

"I think that would raise suspicion for young Sheldon not to be at home." Margaret noted. "Francis? You're his advisor and you've been concerned about him. It shouldn't look too odd that you might take him in, even if Xavier or Susan are monitoring your home."

Stein nodding thoughtfully…

What?! Young Amy, Amy…

My…My…Sheldon…younger version of Sheldon in the clutches of the Princess of Evil, innocent as she may be right now?

"He can go home!" both echoed. Eyeing each other…

"Ladies, my daughter won't eat him." Stein, rather amused. "I think indeed he might be safer at my home. Adult Susan will feel he's secured, Xavier's suspicions shouldn't be aroused. And he won't be so vulnerable as if home alone."

"I'm sure he could defend himself admirably…" young Amy, proudly. "Though of course if I were with…"

"I said you most certainly will not and you will not." Margaret, grimly, perching spectacles.

Hmmn, young Sheldon pictured his sturdy and courageous defense of his home ala Macaulay Culkin…

"I can go with him." Kripke offered.

My platonic hero…Young Amy beamed. "That's very kind, Dr. Kripke."

Can he?...Young Sheldon, nervously eyeing his counterpart.

Sheldon, shrugging. Good enough with the defensive dodads…But as to physical menace.

Still, his blundering efforts to seduce Susan would probably leave you enough time to escape her…

"Wrest assured, ladies. Young Coopewr will be safe with me." Nod. "Though, Dr. Stein? If we could stop by your physics depawrtment on the way ovewr? Might not huwrt to pick up a few pawrts to help pwrovide suwrveillance."

"Certainly, Dr. Kripke."

"Very well, then." Margaret nodded. "We'll split up with the Amys and Sheldon at my place, young Sheldon and Dr. Kripke at his…You can give out you are letting a visiting scholar stay with you, Sheldon."

Nod…

And an intriguing one…I sense my "Home Alone" scenario is to be expanded upon…He eyed Kripke who winked at him.

"Yes, the boys will pawrty…Within wreason, Gwran Mag." He nodded to Margaret's stare.

Hmmn…Perhaps I should rethink this, Sheldon thought, eyeing his younger self. I do not want Kripke setting me on the Dennis Kim path to hedonism.

"Don't worry, Coopewr. I won't lead youwr youngewr selwf astwray. And I pwromise you…And Penny in thewre, I will guawrd him with my liwfe." Smile, nod. But something definite behind the eyes.

"Yes, I know you will, Barry. Thank you." Sheldon nodded. "Thank you for everything you've done."

"For the chance to be among the fiwrst time-twravelewrs, please ouwr lovwely Doctowr Fowlewr, see our Penny safe, and meet the famous Doctowr Fowlewr-Howrowitz? No pwroblem." Smile.

"And, please, Consider yourself promoted to friend…" nod.

"Always was, you just didn't wrealize it." Barry smiled. Sheldon, nodding.

"Lets be off, gentlemen…I need to let Martha go home…" Stein noted. "Amy, Amy, dear Margaret…Good evening." fond smile. "And you, Dr. Cooper…" nodding to Sheldon. "I feel very proud to have been your advisor, for whatever time we spend together."

"Thank you, Doctor. The feeling is mutual. Dr. Brown could not have been a better friend." Sheldon nodded.

The group headed off, led by Stein…

Sheldon and I will see you and Amy later…Amy hissed to Margaret. "I need to stay with Penny…"

"I expected as much. Just be careful." Margaret noted, pulling out wallet. "Here's money for dinner and a cab to my home. You remember the address?"

"Like my own name, Amy Farrah Fowler…Thanks, Gran." She kissed her. "Amy? We're staying for a bit. Take care of Gran Mag and I'll call you both later."

"I figured. You take care of our bestie." Amy nodded.

"Take care of her, Sheldon." Margaret eyed him. "And yourself, wonder boy." She kissed him on cheek. "See you all later. Come, Amy." She and Amy heading off.

"I hope the little minx doesn't try to slip off later…" Amy sighed.

"You know she will…" Sheldon, archly. "But since you do, we can call at just the right time to wake Gran Mag."

"Good enough…But we probably still will have to go over and stop her."

"If I know you, certainly…And I do know you." Sheldon, smiling.

"I must admit…I'm a bit jealous of her…" Amy sighed. Sheldon eyeing her.

"Clearly she's to get at least twenty additional years of romance with you." Sigh.

"Well…" he pondered. "Clearly we will have to make up for that…In quality." Sly smile.
