"I don't think it's a good idea for us to leave; I mean, Bella even said she was okay," Amelia Grace stood in the doorway of her older brother's bedroom, watching him pack up his whole collection of CDs as the entire house ran in hyperspeed packing up any trace of their existence. She saw the annoyed look on his face, anger playing at his eyebrows, jaw twitching as he threw down some defenseless Paramore albums into the waiting bow below.
"Bella doesn't know the extent of the danger that this family brings," Edward growled, attempting to ignore the young vampiress, who kept standing there, her sapphire eyes watching him, waiting for a better answer. After another few minutes, the one-hundred-year-old teenager felt the burn of his sister's glare, turning around with sagged shoulders that showed his defeat. "I can't risk this happening again, I love her, but I couldn't live with myself if she got hurt by the hands of one of our siblings," he watched as the white-haired hybrid sat crossed-crossed on the floor, seeming bored once again by his explanation. "Is that good enough for you?" he asked, almost desperate to get her to leave him alone.
"No, because you and I both know that Alice saw how Bella is going to take it, and you're still insisting on wanting to leave...Because you're a coward ass bitch baby," she could hear Carlisle getting onto her about language from upstairs and Emmett laughing from outside, but Amelia kept her cold gaze on Edward as a slight growl fought its way up to his throat. "Not only that, but you're making everyone root up from their lives, all because of your cowardliness. You have never stopped to ask what we think, or is it because you already know. You're too scared to mention it to anyone?" There was a silence between the two as the witch stood up, sighing to herself as she looked around the room one more time before leaving downstairs to prepare herself dinner.
"You're not leaving, are you?" Edward asked from behind, he had scanned over his sister's mind knowing her plan to stay no matter what the rest of the family was planning. Amelia for years had been hunted down by her birth family, the existence of a hybrid-witch feeding their drive to exterminate her, but she had rooted her magic within the town of Forks, so leaving would mean giving her location away. "Would you at least promise to keep Bella safe, even though I'm leaving for her protection, you know she's a klutz," the young vampire questioned with a sad smile pulling at his lips, as his sister nodded her head smiling back sadly.
"I'll try my best," Amelia responded before leaving, watching as her house was left bare, the trace of a family being packed away in boxes as everyone left their separate ways. Within a week, the young witch was left all to her lonesome, watching as Carlisle and Esme had left to stay with the Delahi's in Alaska. Emmett and Rosalie had property in London where they decided to stay and expand on. Alice and Jasper moved to France where Alice pursued her passion in fashion, making plans to open up a small boutique in the South. Edward was the last to leave, saying his farewells to Bella before heading out to Rio, leaving with a depressed shadow that lurked around every corner.
Four months had passed since the Cullens had left Forks, Washington, and Amelia had found herself drowning in the responsibility of keeping up with her wards around the Olympic Peninsula but also finding new responsibilities of tracking down Victoria who seemed to pop up more and then keeping an eye on Bella, making sure she had no idea Amelia was still in Forks. The treaty between the Cullens and the Quileutes was still strong, the young witch knowing her place, but she still kept up her trading business with the Elders of the Tribe (selling furs, meats, and bones for broth).
The white-haired witch had found herself sitting at the dining room table, a map spread out in front of her while the purple amethyst circled above trying to pinpoint a location on where the red-headed vampire could be hiding near Forks. "Where are you?" Amelia whispered to herself, feeling her magical energy bounce everywhere from New York to California. "It makes no fucking sense," the hybrid cursed, throwing the crystal down before turning to the freeze for comfort ice cream. She was so caught up in her feelings that she didn't hear the door open or smell the lavender vanilla shampoo scent that filled the air.
"Amelia?" The voice of Bella Swan caught the woman off guard, jumping in shock as her Moose-Tracks-Ice-Cream fell to the floor. There stood Bella Swan, auburn hair draped over her shoulders, her body more slender than usual, and eyes overflowing with tears as she stared at the witch.
"Isabella Marie Swan, you almost gave me a heart attack!" Amelia gasped, grasping her chest before she realized that her comfort ice cream was on the floor and leaking out of the carton. "Seriously! My ice cream, Bella!? Do you not know how to knock?" the witch growled bending down to pick up her sad excuse for dessert, only to be engulfed by the sobbing girl as she stood up. "Bella, it's fine I'm not that mad at you, it's only ice cream," she laughed before taking another look, seeing the dark circles under the pale skin and how much she hadn't been taking care of herself. With a sigh, Amelia hugged her back, before leading her back to the dining room table and fixing her a bowl of ice cream so they could talk.
They both sat in silence at first, Bella wiping away her tears as Amelia focused on her food, her blue eyes still looking back to the map with worry, but for now, Bella was her main focus. "So, aren't you going to ask me what I'm doing here?" the witch asked, taking a bite and giving her friend a small smile as the girl wiped her face, nodding her head.
"Does Edward know that you're here?" was the first thing out of Bella's mouth, causing a dramatic eye roll from the other side of the table. Of course, she would want to know about Edward, the asshat did leave her for no reason. "Do you know where he is, where are the others," she began to ramble on, her questions morphing with each other and running on and on. "Can I speak to Edward, wh-why did he leave?" At this point she was crying again and Amelia was left with handing paper towels for tissues and filling her bowl up again with ice cream.
"First off, I'm doing fine," Amelia smirked over at her, causing the girl to stammer out an apology, but the witch just held her hand up to shake it off. "Second, no, you can not call Edward. Even though I don't agree with his decision to make the family split up and leave you, I will not violate my brother's privacy. I know it will hurt him hearing from you, especially with him still having the mindset of what he's doing is right," she paused, looking down at her hands before continuing with a small sigh. "I didn't have the choice of leaving with my family; unlike them, I'm more bound to the land of the Olympic Peninsula,"
"You're bound?" Bella asked eyebrows raised as she tried to eat the ice cream in front of her, her brown eyes looking around the house. It was mostly empty, most of the paintings and decor were missing, along with Edward's piano, but the couch and television remained in the living room. She wondered if any of the other bedrooms were empty, for what she could see all that was left was the belongings and items that Amelia had kept in the house such as her crystals, potion bottles, and candles.
"Witches from around the world are born with a natural bond to a location around the world. It can be anywhere, like a small town like Forks, or it can be a big city like my cousin who lives in New York. This bond is protective, a center for your magic to flow where it will provide the necessities you will need as a witch to strive," Amelia explained, standing up as she talked to go wash dishes and place her pendulum in its cabinet. She could see the confusion deepen on Bella's face as she was trying to connect a puzzle, and the witch couldn't blame her since it was a complicated thing to explain. "Like for me, my magic is centered around nature. I pull from the roots of the trees, the plants, and the animals that live around here. My charms and potions usually have a more natural traditional aspect to them, while like my cousin I mentioned. Her magic is centered around urban items, such as the sound of a subway train or the smell of morning coffee brewing. It feeds her spells, her charms and potions as well, so living in the city strengthens her,"
"Oh, so like when the Cullens lived here, because of how much it rained here," Bella chimed in, slowly understanding what her friend meant. Her magic had necessities as well, just like vampires and humans did, and it was Amelia's responsibility to take care of her ability. "Can you ever leave the area?" she asked, standing up to help wash her bowl as well as the white-haired woman turned around biting the inside of her cheek, pondering on how she should answer.
"Yes, but it wouldn't be a good idea," a sad smile played on her lips before she continued, "You know my family never agreed to me becoming a vampire. Our coven had always been against vampires, so much to where we created shapeshifters, humans that could turn into vicious animals and destroy the bloodsuckers," she watched as Bella looked a little stunned, she had heard of Amelia being a witch and then turning into a vampire because she didn't want to die of cancer, but she had never heard of ancestral background. "They didn't understand why a witch so connected to nature could go against it, why she wouldn't just die naturally…" Amelia paused, turning to look out the kitchen window with a sigh. "Now they hunt me, my brothers and sister, cousins, even my parents will keep on hunting me, even when they die, their sons and daughters, nieces and nephews, and even grandchildren will not stop till I'm gone. Forks is my protector, here my magic flows throughout the land and here they can't harm me," she smiled to herself before turning around and facing Bella once again. "So what have you been up to?"
