The girls had spent hours talking at the dinner table, discussing how the last four months had been for Bella and how she was handling the 'break-up' between her and Edward. Amelia listened, worrying building up in her chest as Bella mentioned staying on the reservation with Jacob Black and how they had become fast friends with each other. "So, you and Jacob, are you a thing?" she asked curiously, sipping on the tea she brewed earlier for the both of them to enjoy.
"Oh NO!" Bella laughed, shaking her head before explaining. "Jacob is more like a little brother to me, he's become my best friend during this time, and I honestly feel without him I wouldn't make it out of the depression I've been in," she admitted with a small blush, it was slightly embarrassing to admit that she had been in such a dark place since Edward leaving...She was still kind of in it, but like she had just mentioned Jacob had been helping, and now with Amelia in Forks maybe it could get even better. Would that mean she would stop hearing Edward's voice again?
"Bella," Amelia spoke, poking the girl as she shook her head and let out a small chuckle, the witch looked at her with concern before speaking up. "Well, I'm glad he's helped you, but you do know the Cullens aren't allowed on La Push land, meaning me," the hybrid witch was trying not to show how worried she truly was, knowing the true nature of the Quileute Tribe and their abilities. "If anything was to happen to you, well you know I couldn't protect you at that moment,"
"What would you have to protect me from, I mean all the Cullens except you left because they believed they were bringing danger into my life," the auburn-haired girl pointed out, a little bit of pain showing on her face from the mention, but Amelia had to come up with some kind of excuse.
"Well, I mean what if you were to get hurt naturally? I can't use my healing abilities to help you," the witch felt like she was tugging at loose ends, trying to make this girl see her life could be in danger, but Bella wasn't hearing any of it. Jacob was her best friend, he had been there even when Amelia, who stayed in Forks, couldn't even be there. Maybe he wouldn't bring her any danger, maybe she could live a healthy human life with him as Edward had wished for her.
"Amelia, I'm fine. I'm supposed to see Jake tomorrow, we have a project we're supposed to finish together, but…" Bella paused, looking around the room as if she was trying to choose her words wisely before speaking. "Do you think you could do me a favor?" she asked slowly as the witch raised an eyebrow at her, pushing her to continue. "Edward and I used to go to this meadow, I've been trying to find it to see if maybe I could get some closure in all of this, but I've been having trouble finding it since Edward only knew where it was," a blush had grown on the human's face, Amelia's heart reaching out to her as she sighed and nodded her head.
"I can use my magic to search for it, but you have to promise me something," there was a huge pause as both of the girls looked at each other seriously, Bella finally nodding her head even though she had a feeling she wasn't going to like the promise. "You need to get over my brother, he's made his choice even if none of us agreed with it, and he's going to have to live eternity with that burden. Don't let his decision cause you to be miserable, it's defeating the purpose of his cause and I can't let both of you be miserable, you understand?" Amelia reached out caressing the brown-eyed girl's cheek with her manicured hand, her heart reaching out toward her and wanting her to heal from all of this pain. "After we find the meadow, it's healing time,"
Some time had passed since Bella finding Amelia in the Cullen house, and since that time, the girls were almost inseparable. Every day after school Bella would come over to have tea and to talk about her day. Amelia loved the company since she was still tracking Victoria and now to add to her mystery hunt, she was working hard to find that stupid meadow. It also didn't help that Bella had gotten injured while at the reservation, causing Amelia to scold her because the whole hiking excuse could have worked for Charlie, but the witch knew the accident-prone human was lying and flipped when she discovered it was a motorcycle accident.
Bella had almost died from the scolded the hybrid had given her, shrinking down low in her seat as Amelia paced the kitchen, arms up in the air as she rambled about how motorcycles are just two-wheeled death traps, and why couldn't Bella have the common sense to wear a helmet. She also had to keep on reminding her that she was nothing but a human, adding insult to injury, but Bella knew that wasn't going to keep her from living and being a dare-devil now. With a little bit more time though Amelia was able to calm down and not freak out whenever Bella went over to see Jacob again.
February had come around the corner, bringing Valentine's Day along with it, which both Bella and Amelia were dreading. Bella was trying to keep her promise to the hybrid witch, she had gone back to talking to her old friend group, and even got invited to a movie on Valentine's Day, but she didn't feel comfortable going alone so she had asked Jake and was now planning on asking Amelia as she stepped in through the door.
"Fucking shit balls!" Amelia cried, the faint smell of burnt perfume vaper waving through the air as a loud boom echoed throughout the kitchen. The witch had been working on a special Valentine's Day brew for some clients that visit her online business, but on top of trying to find the meadow and keep track of the red-head from Hell, the witch had lost track and let the pot over boil. "Stupid women always wanting fucking love potions!" the witch raged throwing the pot into the sink as she flipped over the dining room table.
"Ummm, am I interrupting anything?" Bella asked, standing there with her backpack as Amelia looked up, her white hair falling out of its bun, her face flustered while her oversized sweats were now stained with potion liquid. "I didn't know you sold potions, would you want any help?" the little accident-prone human asked, dropping her bag and going to mop up the liquid on the floor. Amelia stood there feeling embarrassed that she had seen her this way, but Valentine's Day was always a holiday the witch had loathed, since one: mortal women were always seeking out potions around this time, and two: Amelia had never in her life had a Valentine of her own so it was a pretty lonely holiday.
"I'm sorry you had to see that Bells, today is just not my day…" the witch sighed before helping her clean up, once they were done they both bottled what was savable of the potion and went to the living room to relax before Bella spoke out.
"Well, I know today is not your day, but I've got invited to go see a movie with my group of school friends on the 20th, and was wondering if you wanted to come with me," Amelia sat there in shock, but not in a bad way. Her heart was filled with pride that Bella was trying her best to live a normal life, and even though it wasn't with Edward she seemed pretty happy with the mention of the movie.
"I don't know Bella, I mean the Cullens are supposed to be gone, wouldn't it seem weird that I was back in town?" she asked, trying to figure out if it would be possible to go to a movie without anyone bringing up her family in the slightest.
"I thought of that, you can just spend the night at my place, and say your visiting for the weekend...I already talked to Charlie about it, and he's happy to see you since you're not Edward," both the girls laughed before Amelia nodded her head agreeing to the movie only if Bella stayed the night with her to finish all the orders she had to do.
Friday night had finally arrived, Amelia was getting ready when Bella had called to say most of the group except Mike had canceled due to a stomach virus. Not wanting to leave Bella alone with Mike, who she knew was infatuated with the girl, she decided to meet up with them still and headed out into town only to find not only Mike was going to be with them, but no one other than Jacob Black. Walking over Amelia had caught the two teens' attention, especially Mike's whose eyes followed her every move like she was some kind of prey.
Amelia Grace didn't look like your typical vampire, she didn't have the golden eyes like her siblings or the pale skin that never changed colors, but that didn't mean she wasn't breathtaking in her special way. Her hair was long and curly, the white color-forming because of her battle with chemo during her first few years of fighting cancer. Her eyes were a sapphire blue that when needing to feed turned into a lilac color. Her skin was pale, but her cheeks were colored with pink as if to show a little bit of life that flowed through her. The only thing the woman didn't like about herself was her height, just like her sister Alice who was pixie-like with her short stature and thin framed, Amelia was also short, but her body had curves which left her looking short and chubby in her opinion, but no one ever complained but her.
"You must be Jacob," Amelia spoke, turning her back to the blond who in turn stood close to her backside, watching her every move with the La Push resident. "Bella had told me so much about you, thank you for being there for her," the witch smiled, reaching out her hand as Jake took it, his eyes glaring at the football jockey behind her.
"Yeah, Bella mentioned you were in town, it's nice to finally meet you," Jacob responded, seeing Mike trying to pull out his phone and take a picture of Amelia's ass. He had already had an off feeling about the guy since he was so obsessed with Bella, but now he was acting like she didn't exist since the Cullen girl arrived, and she was having nothing to do with him. "Umm, I'm sorry, but are you two like a thing?" he asked, causing the white-haired witch to turn her head, blue eyes glaring at the mear mortal as Mike threw his phone in his back pocket, trying to hide all the evidence.
"No, but I have had sex with him apparently after rejecting him," Amelia stated calmly, watching as Mike's face drained of any color, sweat forming on her brow as she just continued to stare. "I mean that is what you told the whole school, right, Mike? That after rejecting your proposal to go to the movies, I miraculously changed my mind and not only saw the movie with you, but had sex in your car that night," the more the witch talked the more Mike began to sweat, stuttering as he tried to explain himself, but it was almost like his tongue was stuck to the roof of his mouth.
"And then suddenly the whole school knew, even the administration, and instead of telling the truth because you knew your lie had gotten too far, you continued to spread rumors and allow your now, girlfriend, Jessica spread them as well," Amelia paused for a second looking over at the ticket line to see Bella still waiting, waving her hand at the girl with a smile before she continued seeing that Mike wasn't going to save himself. "You know what? The only reason why you're still alive is that I stopped my brothers from killing you, but I would like you to know you are trying to make an advance on me, or Bella would also end in you only get hurt. Unfortunately, she's still stuck on my brother and you...Well, you're still not able to handle me,"
"Wow, Amelia you're still a frigid-ass-bitch," the blond gritted his teeth, stepping forward, his arm going to grip the witch's waist, only to have Jacob take the young man's hand, crushing his fingers as the football player cried out. Amelia looked over her shoulder making eye contact with the native, feeling his unusual body heat radiate a small growl formed from his throat, 'fuck', was all the woman could think and pushed both the boys back with her hands.
"Now, now, gentleman, this is Bella's first night out with friends, so let's keep it that way, okay?" the hybrid spoke, her words calm as soothing energy filled the space around them. Amelia couldn't risk Jacob changing in the middle of the theatre, and even though she wanted to sucker punch Mike into the next dimension, she wouldn't have Bella's night of normalcy be ruined because of her emotions. "Now can we agree to be decent human beings for the night?" She asked, hands still on their chest before they both stepped back and nodded their heads, keeping their space as Bella finally returned with the tickets.
The movie night had gone down the drain, literally when Mike suddenly caught Angela's stomach bug...Courtesy of Amelia, who thought it would be best to spread the love. Jacob was also close to shifting if it wasn't for Bella breaking them up and Amelia sending everyone home for the night. What came next, though, the witch was not prepared for.
Since Jacob shifting, his father had come up with the clever excuse of Mono, which of course, Amelia knew wasn't valid. Her blood and magic linked with the wolves, her ancestors, had created them many centuries ago, but their bond of creator and creature ran deep. She knew the young chief's son was only keeping himself away from Bella to keep her safe, which the witch had to respect since they had become so close in time. Now it was her job to handle the Auburn-haired girl, keeping her comforted as the separation began to drag her down to her depression that she fought so hard to conquer.
This dark place that Bella was sinking into that caused the white-haired witch to find the meadow. Spending every night searching, her energy connected with the Earth, trying to pinpoint a location that had Edwards's aura, and that's when she found it. On the outskirts of Forks, close to the area where her family played baseball, was a tiny little meadow, her brother's aura was fading, but he had been there enough over the years where the Earth had soaked him in. "I FOUND IT!" Amelia exclaimed, nearly jumping up and down as Bella walked in that Saturday morning. Seeing her confusion, she began to explain, seeing the joy play out on her best friend's face. Soon they were both driving the small area on the outskirts of the woods; once walking through the underbrush and up the hill, Bella would find the meadow and keep her promise to Amelia about moving on from her brother.
She watched Bella leave, following the directions that Amelia had given her, wanting her to go alone since this was supposed to be a healing moment for the human. The witch hybrid could feel her footsteps hitting the ground, her body getting closer to the meadow as she entered the clearing. "Finally, peace," she let out a small sigh before clenching her jaw, the strong scent of another entering the meadow as well, a smell she had only recognized as the vampire Laurant.
"Shit!" Amelia hissed her vampire speed, helping carry her legs out of the car, up into the woods, and into the clearing where the dreadlocked vampire was about to clasp his hands around Bella's neck. "BELLA!" the witch let out a cry, her energy creating a shield between the two as both of them went flying to opposite sides. Hurrying, she ran to pick the girl off the ground, her body in fight or flight as she heard growling at the other end of the field.
"Impossible…" whispered Laurant, bloodshot eyes widening as a gigantic black wolf made his way off the underbrush, snarling as its claws sank into the ground, preparing itself to bound at the vampire. Within seconds it pounced, shooting forward as Laurant turned fleeing, only to turn around when the wolf was on his tracks, sending him flying with one blow. In moments other wolves began to tear at the Earth, flying toward the killer vampire as they dove into the woods, leaving Bella and Amelia standing there in awe.
"Bella...Bella!" Amelia shook the girl, snapping her back into reality as panic played across her face. "Bella, you need to go! Go to my car and drive home; don't look back!" She ordered, almost pushing her down the hill before turning and following the pack as she heard Laurant cry out in pain. The hybrid knew she was running into danger; she knew that the wolves would kill her if they thought she was protecting the enemy, but Amelia needed to know where Victoria was, and he was the only one who knew, but it was too late.
"Wait!" she cried out, skidding to a stop where Sam Uley lit a flame to Laurants dismembered body. Her Sapphire eyes looked panicked as she let out a desperate sigh, trying to hold on to what little hope she had of finding that damned redheaded vampire. "You fucking fool, do you know what information he holds!?" she growled, teeth-baring as her magic flowed within the roots underneath her feet. She dared to take a step toward him, the ground shaking slightly and starting to collapse underneath the pack leader. Without warning, a gray wolf jumped out between her and Sam, brown eyes glaring at her and a growl escaping his lips before there was a bright flash of light covering Amelia's vision.
They had just killed the dreadlock-wearing bloodsucker, his remains laying on the floor as Sam turned, flickering his lighter to ignite the bastard. The other pack members stayed in their wolf forms guarding their Alpha, sensing another vampire approaching, but its scent was off. Instead of the over perfumed smell that most leeches had, this creature smelled of honeysuckles and lilacs and was nearing closer as Sam threw his lighter on the damned beast. No one had expected the white-haired girl to lose her shit, the Earth shaking around Sam as she growled in rage prepared to pounce. Without thinking Paul leaped in front of his best friend, growling as his eyes met Sapphire blue and then…
Bam!
"Imprint!" his wolf screamed, a bright light illuminating his sight as visions of her face took over his thoughts, her smell becoming overwhelming, and her voice echoing through his ears. Then the realization of being with a vampire hit, and Paul let out a snarl, letting everything sink away as he looked at the woman in front of him. She was on the ground, fear covering her face as she shot her hand up, sending a force field between the two that caused him to fall back and her time to flee away.
"Dude! Go and get her!" Embery cried out in his mind, all the other wolves joining in, knowing the severity of a wolf imprinting on someone. It shocked them that Paul was pushing her; they could feel the struggle as his wolf tore against him, wanting to go after the white-haired girl.
"NO!" he cried out, baring his claws into the dirt, forcing his body to stay as Sam changed, standing close to him. "SAM, MAKE IT STOP!" Paul begging desperation as his alpha shook his head, looking toward the others.
"You know how imprints work; you fighting it is going to cause your body to work against you," Sam spoke clearly before giving an apparent demand to the others to go and hunt her down so they could explain everything. Without another thought, they all shot out, following the hybrid's scent as she tried to escape them.
Amelia felt her feet dig into the ground as she fled, her vision still blurry, but her senses carried her to safety as she heard the wolves coming after her. Since becoming a vampire, the cancer survivor had never felt faint; she never felt any type of sickness, but since seeing that flash of light, it was like her whole body was back in her dying human body. "Please leave me alone!" she begged, having to get closer to the house where she could strengthen her wards, but they just kept on peeling at her heels.
"I said leave me alone!" Amelia cried, tears filling her eyes as she dug deep into her magic, pulling the ground up along with its roots, tearing apart as it engulfed the pack, but also causing her to slide down the hill, hitting trees and debris on the way down. Her sight still hadn't returned fully, and chills were beginning to exhibit from her body, a fever spiking as she cried out covered in sweat. She could hear footsteps nearing her, cursing to herself, not understanding why her magic wasn't working as it should and why the wolves wanted her so badly.
"Is she dead?" Quil asked, worry hitting his face as the boys surrounded her in their now human forms. Neither one of them had ever seen a vampire sweat or shake as much as the white-haired one was doing. "Of course she is...I mean, aren't vampires dead already?" answered Jared, who bent, pressing his hand against the new Imprint's head, surprise, and worry covering his face as he discovered she was running a fever. "Umm, you guys...I think we have a problem," he told them before deciding to carry her to the Reservation.
