A scientist stepped away from the camera, facing it with a small smile and his hands clasped together in gentlemanly greeting.
"Hello there. I am Earl Boyd Sr. Pleased to make your acquaintance."
Various pieces of machinery with blinking lights surrounded him. In the center, right behind Mr. Boyd is what looks like a box-shaped object.
"You may recognize me from my work designing technology for the NEMESIS organization. However, I've also spent the past few years developing something I suspect will be of more interest to you."
Boyd stepped away, revealing the box in its entirety. A sensor on the top glowed green and two doors on the front opened with a hiss. A round, white metal head fell out, followed by a mass of black goo. Mr. Boyd clapped his hands twice and the goo shifted under the head seemingly on its own.
The goo proceeded to push the head up, molding itself into a stringy body before sprouting arms and legs. Its eyes flickered to life with a low hum. What had started as a ball in a blob of sludge now looked vaguely like a person, if a somewhat lanky one.
"This is P-I-X. A joint data collection tool and combat droid. He collects data from fighters through contact. However, what I've made here is not a glorified punching bag. P-I-X is equipped with artificial intelligence and the nanotechnology weaved into the attached slime allows the CPU to mold its 'body' into any shape or form it desires."
P-I-X demonstrated by shifting into a small tank.
Boyd chuckled. "Clever one isn't he? The tournament's cash reward would greatly help to fund my future research and even failing that, more data is always appreciated."
Mr. Boyd approached the camera again.
"One more thing: My son likes to call him 'Mr. Pix'. It'd tickle him if you used that name during the broadcast. Thanks."
End tape.
