Summary/disclaimer: Time for another chapter of Knighted. Enjoy the 1600-word chapter. I don't own Overwatch; Blizzard and a few others do.

His axe met her mace only for him to pivot, dragging Brigette with him. He twirled his axe, the micro thrusters in the armor and axe powering down.

"I thought you said your armor wasn't meant for heavy combat." Alex said as he rested his axe across his shoulder.

Brigette looked at Alex who wore a similar uniform to the crusaders. The helmet looked more like a regular knight's, however, with 2 dots where his eyes were and a line across the mouth which glowed red when he spoke. The armor also looked more streamlined, being smaller and more maneuverable, she did see retractable spikes running up and down the armor, however. Brigette was also aware he was slightly taller than her, something the armor enhanced to a degree.

He twirled the axe which crackled with the same red energy running up his suit. He also held a crusader emblem emblazoned on the shoulders, the armor was also jet black with shades of red and goldish. She was told the black was for stealth which made her amused at Alex's idea of stealth. She could see the indivisible plates similar to a knight.

"And it looks like you went overboard." Brigette said as the thrusters retracted into his armor.

"Maybe, but I was aiming for something similar to the crusaders." Alex said as he slowly advanced on Brigette, leveling his head at her. "I did go overboard with putting the wolf motif on the shoulders, though… And I'm kinda glad I didn't add a cape like I was planning." Alex stated before charging forward.

Alex watched a rocket soar from the plated arm which she held up her shield to block. Alex twirled the axe, kicking in the thrusters as he brought the weapon down on her shield.

"That armor looks more like my dad's then your father's." Alex said as he stepped backwards to avoid Brigette's mace.

"And you seemed like you went old school with your armor." Brigette said, unfurling her mace which got a chuckle from Alex.

"The crusaders were the guardians for a reason, Brig." Alex stated, his voice seeming to echo through the modulator.

"Yeah, they were…." Brigette said as Alex and her began to circle each other.

"I still question why you don't wear a helmet or something. Your WELL aware people use guns now." Alex said to which Brigette held up her shield. "Doesn't stop everything, Brig. I tried respecting the crusaders, but still updating it… Just because others use new tech? Doesn't mean using a gun is disrespectful to them." Alex said while dusting off his hands.

Brigette paused to let Alex retighten his grip upon his weapon as he turned and started to think about his next move. Brigette looked at her friend.

"You know their watching, right?" Brigette questioned which got a nod from Alex while he charged forward.

He was here when they were arrived. Their families had come to watch them as soon as they had completed their armors. It wasn't very hard to hide considering both of them stood out like sore thumbs.

"Didn't you make that armor with healing packs or something?" Alex asked before dodging a strike of her rocket frail. "You know I made this armor to resist things like that mace, right?" Alex questioned as his axe sent her flying backwards.

Alex lunged afterwards, managing to knock her back with the handle of the axe a moment later. He caught her frail around his weapon as he turned to think of his next maneuver.

"You know, the reason why the crusaders were good with that stuff?" Alex asked, pulling Brigette forward before throwing her around, sending her skidding backwards. "Takes more than muscle, Brig. That's kinda why I had put thrusters in my armor, remember?" Alex said while he cracked his fingers a moment later.

He brushed off his armor once again and rubbed at his head. Brigette was a LOT tougher than she looked and he was well aware what could happen if her mace did actually hit him.

"I am curious about if you're ever going to wear a blasted helmet, you know." Brigette heard from Alex as he twirled his axe while looking as he shrugged, pointing his axe towards her with a moment later while he brushed off the dust.

"Unlike your stronger armor that's slow and sluggish?" Brigette put in to which Alex chuckled.

He was quite curious as he hummed to himself while he looked at her. Alex held his axe towards her while he shook his head. He blocked her frail only for her to kick him backwards, forcing him to dig a hand into the ground, stopping himself from being thrown backwards while he looked at her.

"You know I've managed to take you before in fights, Brig…" Alex stated while he tapped his axe again as the duo untangled each other from their weapons.

He twirled his axe, wading back into fight as Brigette responded with such. He was quite amused by this as he blocked one of her strikes, drawing his foot up to block her as Brigette's frail wrapped around his right arm. He grabbed her right arm and fired the thrusters, throwing them back. He slammed down his axe, finding it blocked with her shield. The axe still cut through the shield, throwing Brigette backwards to which she was forced to dig her heels into the cobblestone below her, making her wobble slightly.

"Hard light?" Alex questioned while he started to chuckle. "I'm trying to work around how it doesn't work on melee weapons." Alex stated while he twirled the axe, getting a grip upon the weapon once more.

He looked at Brigette who seemed to be busy checking her gear. Alex leaned on the axe, pressing a button on a holographic keypad on his armor. Brigette turned to see the helmet slide apart, revealing Alex's pale face as he walked over.

"How are the shield emitters? Are they functioning properly?" Alex asked as he walked over, placing his axe across his back. "You holding up, ok, Brig? I didn't mean to go hardcore." Alex added as he took a seat next to her.

"Your good." Brigette said while examining her armor. "And yes, but the hard light generators aren't meant to react to melee attacks. Nobody expects to be stabbed when you have a rocket propped frail." Brigette said, holding up the weapon in question.

"You're telling me a pocket knife could get through that armor your wearing?" Alex asked, running a hand alongside the weapon. "Do you want me to work on it with you? I know people that can help deliver more lightweight steel." Alex stated which got a shrug from Brigette.

"I don't know if the steel is the issue, there needs to be something that can block physical attacks." Brigette stated while Alex rubbed at his chin.

"And yet you want to point out that you're the smarter one between us?" Alex stated as he sighed and looked at the ground. "As good as a fighter as you are? I want you to point out that armor is far more lightweight than mine. It won't hold up to a rocket or something." Alex pointed out to which Brigette nodded.

Alex knew Brigette was a VERY smart woman, but that didn't make her armor very powerful. It would tear through street thugs like wet paper, but one wrong shot? Brigette could have a 9mm go through her skull like cardboard.

"Isn't that why you're coming?" Alex heard from Brigette as she smirked to herself. "Maybe, but there's something that's capable of being helped at the moment." Brigette stated and watched Alex hum to himself as he started to climb to his feet a second later.

"Yeah, but it doesn't hurt to have some form of backup." Alex said as he tapped his axe. "I still have to look over the armor, make sure it's ready for field deployment. This armor is just a prototype… So is the axel axe I'm holding." Alex pointed out as he started to think about what happened next.

Brigette watched as Alex started to walk away before he turned to look towards her. He pressed a button which caused his helmet to seal back up. He knew more than anything that there was more work to be doing currently. Technology was a very fickle thing when he thought about it and the last thing, he wanted was a piece of gear falling apart as he tried using it. That wouldn't help at all.

"You know, sometimes I question if people even care about what the crusaders stood for." Alex said, looking at Brigette as the duo began their walk back to the workshops. "People don't seem to really care about the past enough to fight for it like this." Alex added, pausing to look around.

"Just because they don't doesn't mean we should either." Brigette put in as she put her mace on her hip. "There's plenty of things worth fighting for, isn't that why you wanted to fight." Brigette stated to which Alex nodded.
