"Zoey, I know this is scary."
"Kevin, it's more than scary. This is not what I was expecting when I came to work this morning or even when I ran into you."
"Maybe it was fate. Maybe I was supposed to run into you."
"I've never dated a supe. I've always dated normal people."
"Which is why I want to take the cure."
"But what happens if you take the cure, and it doesn't work out."
There was more silence.
"Kevin, I don't want you to give up who you are."
"But Zoey, I also don't want to give up on you. I feel like we have something special."
"Omg Kevin!" She yelled. "We have known each other less than 24 hours and somehow you think we belong together."
Neither of them said anything. She hated to break his heart, but she wasn't sure of her own.
"I think I should go." She finally said.
"Please don't." Kevin begged.
"Kevin, if you are sure of your heart, you need to let me take some time to think. Because honestly I feel like I am being forced into an arranged marriage, and honestly how is that any better than what you had with Cassandra."
"I'm sorry Zoey."
"I know you are Kevin. There is a part of me that does LIKE you. But I need to think about what I want."
"I understand." He finally said. "I'll tell you what. Maybe it would be a good idea to talk with Annie. She is good at giving advice."
"Who is Annie?" She asked.
"Starlight. You could probably talk to Hughie too?"
"Who's Hughie?"
"Her boyfriend. He's human. Annie is a supe, Hughie is not. Get the idea?"
"Yea I do."
"Can I ask you something before you leave?"
"You want to kiss me, don't you?"
"That obvious?" He said blushing.
"Go ahead."
Kevin stood up next to Zoey and acted like a boy about to give his first kiss.
"Are you serious right now Kevin?"
"I'm sorry. I don't know why I'm nervous."
"Here let me help."
She took his hands in hers and leaned in real close to his face. There was no denying that she felt attraction to him. Somehow even though they had just met this morning, they had this amazing connection. They moved closer together until their lips touched. It felt like nothing she'd ever felt before. She felt a tingling sensation all over her body, she felt goosebumps all down her arms and legs. It felt amazing. She opened her mouth a little bit wider and let their tongues intertwine. Finally, she had to come up for air.
"Oh, my goodness!" She exclaimed.
"See what I mean about a connection?"
"I do see it or rather I feel it now. But I still need time to think."
"Ok. I get it."
"Quick question, before I leave."
"What's that?" He asked.
"Not that I am complaining, but why couldn't I hear ambrosia?"
"She didn't want to ruin the moment."
Zoey looked at Ambrosia and thanked her.
"She said you're welcome. And she hopes your thinking has a good outcome."
Zoey smiled and headed for the door.
"So how long do you think you need?"
"I'm not sure Kevin. I do want to talk to Annie and Hughie though."
"Ok. You let me know when you are ready."
"I will." She said as she kissed his cheek and walked out the door.
