Unwilling to open her eyes, Chibiusa used her other senses to try and figure out where she was. But, first, she felt what she knew was a comfy bed beneath her body! She then breathed in the air, so much fresher than she ever remembered, and could hear Queen Serenity talking to a man with a courageous and loving voice about her wellbeing.
Chibiusa rubbed her still, slightly throbbing head and squinted her ruby eyes open. The young heiress was surprised to see only the stars above her as she had expected bright lights! Chibiusa groaned as she sat up.
Queen Serenity rushed to her side. "Oh, Chibiusa! Don't strain yourself." Queen Serenity expressed soothingly. She stood there alive and well as she gently grasped Chibiusa's shoulders to lay her back down.
"Grandma...I'm OK. Where am I?" Chibiusa looked around in astonishment. She hadn't encountered a location like the one she found herself in.
"This is what remains of our home in the Silver Millenium's time after Queen Beryl attacked." Queen Serenity disclosed softly. She'd done this once before with her own daughter. Therefore, she understood she had to be delicate and slow not to overwhelm the child.
"Wouldn't you be dead then?" Chibiusa slowly questioned in bewilderment. Nothing that was happening was making any sense. However, very little makes sense when you're part of the royal moon family and a Sailor Senshi. She and her friends realized that long ago.
"The Moon Mystifier learned you required my guidance, so here I am." Queen Serenity clarified kindly to her granddaughter.
"As am I, granddaughter." Chibiusa quickly pivoted to see a gentleman with short, straight blonde hair and blue eyes. They were the same shade as Usagi's!
"Granddaughter? Does that mean your my...?" Chibiusa could not believe she was meeting her grandparents in the flesh now! She had lived for centuries, and finally, she was meeting her grandparents?!
"This is my husband, Apollo." Queen Serenity wrapped her forearms around one of Apollo's biceps. Apollo was sporting a snazzy snow-white suit with a crescent moon emblem on the chest. It was unmistakable to the pink-haired young lady that her grandparents were as much in love as her own parents.
"Mom never uttered a word regarding her father." Chibiusa could never recall even hearing her mother say the man's name. However, her mother might not have had access to those recollections. After all, when her grandmother brought Usagi back to explain everything, she only revealed the Silver Millennium's last night. So there were unquestionably significant gaps in its history.
"Before we begin our tale, darling granddaughter, you must understand your grandfather is a remarkable gentleman. But, unfortunately, he couldn't remain on the moon with our daughter or me." Queen Serenity expressed sadly.
"Why?" Chibiusa didn't think highly of Apollo for not staying with a family he helped create.
"I was only on a six-month-long expedition here. So I'm confident you understand how easily I fell in love with your grandmother. We didn't plan our daughter either, I admit. Nevertheless, I wanted to leave your precious grandmother with a piece of my love.
I didn't desire to return to Earth. However, my pure-hearted goddess would not keep me from the place I call home. I attempted to return to see Selene and my daughter multiple times but was repeatedly denied. Finally, all I could do was pray to the moon." Apollo sighed regrettably.
"Who's Selene?!" Chibiusa snapped, thinking this was another woman her grandfather had mistakingly slipped out.
"That's my first name." Queen Serenity spoke up, clearing up the confusion.
"Oh, sorry." Chibiusa blushed in humiliation.
"I do regret our princess growing up not meeting me. Undoubtedly you must think so lowly of me, Chibiusa..." Tears began to drip from Apollo's eyes as he had missed the life of what could have been—living with his wife, the birth of his daughter, her wedding, and his granddaughter. He could've shared everything with his family if he hadn't been wrongly denied.
"That's not true." However, Chibiusa did feel awful for judging Apollo. Looking at him, she felt his depression for all he had missed out on. So instead, she embraced him to console him. "That reminds me. Where are my friends, and where are your Senshi?"
"I never required Senshi as the Silver Millenium was a tranquil era. As for your companions, granddaughter? They must be with my fellow sovereigns, their grandparents. However, I am unsure if it is in the same time zone." Queen Serenity spoke worryingly.
"Don't ever fear, my dear. I'll make sure our granddaughter reunites with her loyal Senshi!" So Apollo vowed to which his wife's eyes glowed with so much love.
"That's why I love you, Apollo..." Queen Serenity smiled sweetly.
"Perhaps the Moon Mystifier in this time zone can help?!" Chibiusa suggested desperately.
"Worth a shot." Apollo concurred. Dashing to the Moon Mystifier, Chibiusa was alleviated to see it looked as it always did, so it should operate the same way!
"Quickly! The full moon will not last forever!" Queen Serenity cried urgently.
When Chibiusa witnessed Mangella Castle in the Moon Mystifier, she jumped in! However, a hot second later, Chibiusa wanted to turn back as she realized she had wanted to ask Queen Serenity why she was trying to contact her through her dreams, but it was too late...
"Do you think I should have forewarned her regarding the Daughter of Hate and the King, who can end everything?" Queen Serenity looked at her husband crestfallen.
"She's here now. Let's pray she and her Senshi are more fortunate than poor Midnight..." Apollo cringed.
Japaneanimiegirl's side notes. Sorry, these chapters may be much shorter than I usually do.
Selene is the name the people of Earth call Queen Serenity. So why not take that as her first name? Apollo is from Apollo 11, the first spaceflight to land and walk on the moon.
