April 5, 1986

Location-Diagon Alley, England:

Five years had passed since Cedar and Neville had disappeared without a trace. Five years was enough time for Augusta to recover from her injuries, but the war continued to rage around them with none brave enough to stop the Dark Lord or fight against him. Any who tried were killed by the Dark Lord or his Death Eater puppets. The Order of the Phoenix, Dumbledore's secret organization he had created to help fight against the Death Eaters and the Aurors had been forced to fight together throughout the war, but without a spy in the ranks of the Dark Lord, Dumbledore had no way of knowing Tom's plans or what he planned to do next. Hogwarts had been seen as a temporary shelter in the couple years after the prophecy children had went missing but now children were not getting an education as it was too risky to send one's child to King's Cross to catch the Hogwarts express with Aurors and the Order needed on the battle lines. Some Muggleborn and half-blood families living in the muggle world had sensed something was going on in the United Kingdom with the strange disappearances and mysterious deaths that couldn't be explained and had immigrated away from the United Kingdom to start over in other countries. These countries being former British colonies or countries that had English as a native language where they could adapt easier.

Deadly force was used by the Aurors while those in the order were told by Dumbledore that everyone could be given a second chance and to stun them. However, other countries were not taking things lightly. Anyone suspected of having death eater ties were not allowed into the rest of Europe and guards of both muggle and wizarding heritage who worked together to protect their countries. Anyone who might be a Death Eater and came into another country, was automatically captured and executed on television as an example to the British wizardry and any other terrorists that might try to gain support or followers in the rest of Europe. Despite the Supreme Mugwump's pleas that nobody be killed for trying to flee, the rest of the wizarding leaders refused to listen to the old wizard and continued to do what was necessary to protect their people.

Diagon Alley was a completely different place in the height of the wizarding war. Citizens did not crowd together in large groups or venture out of their homes much. Trust was lacking due to potential spies among family and friends and without Hogwarts as a beacon of hope, wizarding children were having to be shipped overseas for education, or if one were rich enough, homeschooled by tutors or their parents. However, if Dumbledore or Voldemort expected to have support from Durmstrang, he was mistaken for the prime minster of Norway had threatened to close the school down forever if they sided with the British half-blood. Dumbledore may have thought he was being clever but there were ways to get information on someone if you looked hard enough and had resources. Karkaroff had even been driven out of Durmstrang by some parents who had thereafter publicly executed the fool when it was found out he was not only a sympathizer but a Death Eater as well.

Many shops were shuttered, and the magical quarter of London was like a ghost town. The people who ran shops, unless they came from a pureblood family, could not afford to hire protection and had been forced to close, leaving resources of food and imported goods stretched thin within the wizarding world. Even Ollivander had been forced to shut down for there was no point in keeping a wand shop open if there were no children attending Hogwarts. Azkaban, however, was still thankfully under Ministry control. The Dementors, however, were restless creatures and sometimes created issues for both the prisoners and the guards. They were unable to feed or breed freely and some considered joining the Dark Lord where they would have access to all the food they wanted. Any traitors left alive by the Dark Lord were left in Azkaban to rot and it was here that Severus Snape had been residing since November first of the year 1981.

As the brick wall slid away to reveal an archway to Diagon Alley, the Potters were met with silence. It was no longer the cheerful place it had been during their youth, everything carrying a somber feel to it. There were no longer large crowds or adults bustling through the alley attempting to buy things. Only the bank and a few stores remained open, the Leaky Cauldron and Fortesque's being two of the places where one could get a bite to eat and perhaps pretend, they were living in a time long past. The Potters mourned their son as the Longbottoms' mourned Neville. Not a word was spoken of either the death eater Severus Snape, who James and Sirius knew to be evil and a slimy git, nor of the bastard children Lily had made. The once cheerful muggleborn no longer enjoyed the prestige of being Lady Potter, her sulliness of the Potter name reflecting badly among James in some of the pureblood circles. It was bad enough the Potter family was no longer pureblood with the wedding of Potter and a Muggleborn, but that she had willingly bred with a werewolf and a Death Eater was something that none could fathom.

James had not forgiven either Lily for her transgressions nor Remus, wherever he may be, for sleeping with his wife. The fact that Lily had failed to fall pregnant during these five years only soured the Potter Lord's mood even more against his wife. Yet the couple continued to live as they did, on James' fortune that he had received from his parents, both still a part of the Order but neither holding jobs. Of course, it was doubtful a muggleborn could even get a job in these trying times regardless and James refused to let Lily work outside in the muggle world where she would be unprotected in the event of a Death Eater attack. It had been five years, and none were looking for either Cedar or Neville. They just couldn't, with a war going on and didn't have anything set up for missing people.

"Morning Fortescue," said James as the Potters made their way to a table outside the shop.

"Ah, Mr. Potter. Are you here meeting the Longbottoms?"

"Yes," said James. "Are Frank and Alice here?"

"The Longbottoms showed up five minutes ago," said Fortescue. He pointed towards the Longbottoms who were sipping some tea from mugs and looking over menus. James thanked the man and led Lily towards a table under an umbrella and handed them a couple menus. After taking their drink order, he left to tend to another customer, but the place wasn't as busy as it had once been.

"James. How are you fairing?" As the Potters sat down, Lily being ignored like she had been for the past five years among some of the pureblood families still in existence and there were few within Britain, the Potter head of house nodded to Frank. The Auror's entire body spoke of his fatigue with long hours working in the war trying to fight death eaters and trying to look for his lost son and heir.

"As well as I can be under these difficult times," said James. "Have you and Alice had any luck finding any information about Neville or Cedar?"

"None. Of course, our resources are stretched thin with the war. I don't know why Dumbledore was banking on one of our sons being the one to defeat He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named. Perhaps if we had left Britain when we found out Alice was expecting, Neville would still be alive."

"You believe Neville and Cedar are dead?"

"It's possible. They've not been seen from in five years," said Frank. "I'm not sure how much longer Alice can go with hoping Neville is alive."

James looked to Alice and saw the woman appeared even more exhausted than her husband. "How is Augusta?"

"She blames herself for the disappearance of our sons. Alice and I blame ourselves for going out that night and not staying in hiding with our son. I don't think Alice will ever forgive herself."

"Catching Death Eaters has gotten more vicious and difficult, but it keeps my mind occupied," spoke up Alice. "Though soon I may have to put my job on hold."

"What do you mean," questioned James.

"Alice is with child," said Frank. "We've been keeping it rather quiet for fear that we'll be attacked by one of the Dark Lord's followers."

"Dumbledore?"

"He has no clue Alice is with child. I won't let that bastard try to use our new child to fight his war."

James nodded in agreement. Lily had failed to give him a child in these past five years and he was becoming annoyed with her. "I've no luck having another child though nothing can replace Cedar. I hope he's still out there and Neville as well but you are right in that it's been five years without a word. At first I had hoped that the Dark Lord had come and secreted our children away but interrogating Snivellus didn't bring any clues as to our children's whereabouts."

"It can't be easy having a muggleborn as a wife," said Frank.

"No…especially one that slept with a junior Death Eater and then hid knowledge of the child from me. I'm just glad Lily had the sense not to bring Snape's little bastard into the house. But Remus…I couldn't have imagined Lily sleeping with Remus and then lying to me about… I should have listened to my parents. They didn't want me marrying a muggleborn but I insisted she was the right one for me."

"Not unlike Sirius Black who ran away from his home and didn't listen to his parents, rejecting pureblood culture."

"Sirius's mother did want him to become a Death Eater like his brother Regulus."

"True, but he was always a rebel if I remember correctly. You are still supporting him?"

"I am," said James. "I have enough money from my parents to support us for the rest of our lives."

The Longbottoms and James ignored Lily as if she didn't exist, a hard thing for the once bright girl that had wondered at magic and shown off for her parents and sister when coming home in those early years from school. When she had tried to protest, James had said she should be glad Voldemort hadn't won the war or else she might be dead right now or bedding some Death Eater. "Then again…you already bedded a junior Death Eater so a full Death Eater wouldn't be far off," James had spoken snidely to her. Lily found she had no standing within the wizard world, not as a muggleborn who some believed stole magic from wizards and witches. With Voldemort alive and fighting, there was some push by a few old wizarding families to create a muggleborn registration department, supposedly for their own safety in the war, what with being targets from the Dark Lord's forces but it had not passed luckily.

James couldn't understand why Lily had such an issue getting pregnant. Surely it wasn't her fertility that was the problem for she had born three children, as much as James hated to admit that Snivellus's bastard and Remus's pup were also part of Lily. There had been no sign of Remus either though many didn't care about a werewolf that went missing. James knew there was talk about him consorting with werewolves and mudbloods and his marriage to Lily was something not tolerated well in Britain, despite Dumbledore insisting muggleborns were no threat.

"Congratulations," said James. "You must be happy for the new addition to the family."

"We are though it be a bitter moment in time," said Alice and James nodded in understanding. If only my wife would be useful and give me a child. I need an heir. That may not be important among muggles but blood is everything in the wizarding world.

Duo, Grass Moon, Year of the Dragon

Location-Bausbile, West Province, Faumios

In the five years that had passed, his pups had grown swiftly until they reached three years of age before their development had slowed to that of a human child. Remus had succeeded in passing his assessment as a Peon and become a Sentinel within the pack, meaning he hunted and patrolled. Remus's therapy with the Shamen had been a learning experience for the Apprentice Shamen but Remus still didn't have his magic back and as far as he could tell, the pups at least, showed no signs of magic. The Sentinel wasn't sure how to speak to the god of magic but had been learning the wolf customs of Xaythea as well as the territory layout and some of the surrounding area. They were still living with Grimcrown and Ordovic was still alpha of the pack, being young and quite strong.

Five years without being able to use magic and though Remus missed it, he found himself accepting fate. Neville and Cedar, however, were showing signs of magic, which the pack was uncomfortable with. Magic was one of a werewolf's weaknesses, something hunters and sorcerers used against werewolves and their offspring as well as against vaewolves, vampires and their offspring, Nephalem and Nephilim. One was the hybrid children of angels and demons-that was the Nephalem while Nephilim were the children of angels and humans. Moony on the other hand, was snappy with the human children when the wolf was in control. It probably didn't help when Cedar had accidentally had a bout of accidental magic and blasted Talon and Oriole across the township square into the wall, causing the pair of pups to need medical attention and the alpha to punish the sentinel. Both his legs and an arm were in casts and the wolf had been demoted to omega for attacking pups…even if they were human infants. The children were a part of the pack and therefore the same rules applied to them that they did to the wolf pups.

"Alpha, those human infants are getting dangerous with their magic. It will only get worse as the infants grow and develop their magical abilities, especially if other sorcerers get ahold of them and begin training them. Something must be done." The alpha sat in council with the high ranks and some elders that had chosen to serve in an advisory council. "I know you agreed to the human infants being allowed in the pack but without training, the infants' magic will become more chaotic and pose a danger to our pack."

"Regardless of what Remus says alpha, he's obviously not right in the head. Rejecting his wolf like he did all his years is bound to mess with one's cognitive abilities and create a sickly creature. We're better off disposing of him while we can and just keeping the pups," spoke one of the three deltas in the pack.

"Sure, their magic might not be dangerous to harm an adult wolf, but our pups are getting bruised from the magic. What if they cause humans or hunters to come here and harm our pack? Not to mention they are food…they could attract vampires if those leeches are bold enough to come into a werewolf's territory."

The alpha was silent as he listened to his beta and one of his deltas speak before turning to one of the Shamen. "Aeon. You were the one in charge of the peon's mental healing. How is he?"

"He still has some issues towards the human children," said Aeon. "His wolf, Moony, on the other hand doesn't seem to tolerate the human children as much as his own pups. Sometimes he snaps at the other pups when they approach his litter. Such an action is understandable, given he raises his pups without his mate…a human apparently."

"And how is the peon doing himself with his human side? Is he accepting of what he is and what his pups are," questioned Ordovic. He looked towards the elders who were silent as they listened to the information.

"The human children pose no threat to the pack at the current moment," spoke Grimm, a wolf covered in agouti fur. "They can be taught obedience and respect for our kind, but they pose a liability as do all our pups against hunters. Vampires will wish to hunt them and that will put our pack in danger. If vampires do not get them then hunters may come and slaughter the pack if they think we are holding food hostage."

"Elders, if I might speak."

The alpha waved a hand towards Siren. The gamma's words were important as he was closest to the pack and served as the pack's voice to the betas and alphas.

"Alpha and elders," spoke Siren. "The human children do potentially pose a danger to us as they grow older, it is true. Undoubtedly, they will need training, however their magic seems to be unlike anything not on Xaythea among the sorcerers."

"The sentinel did say he was from a different world, as was his human charges and the pups," said Aeon. "Perhaps they don't have access to our own magic on their planet."

"If they have different magic then the sorcerers here, that makes them more of a danger," chimed in another elder. "It means they cannot be trained by our sorcerers most likely."

The council fell silent as they listened to the arguments made, the elders brooding over the information and speaking mentally with each other. "Can the human children be useful to the pack as something other than food? Have they started showing signs of their abilities yet that all humans have within our home world?"

"What does Remus say about 'magic' in his world?"

"They use sticks, wands I believe he said, to channel their magic and are unable to perform it naturally by hand like the sorcerers today. Nor do they seem able to or willing to use mystical objects or runes for magic either. I think he said they have light magic and dark magic and that anyone who uses dark magic is evil."

"So, without these 'wands', they cannot use magic at all in their world?"

Siren nodded to Grimm's question.

"Pathetic," said one of the deltas. "They put themselves at a liability. Apparently, food is stupid no matter what planet they live on."

"Council," spoke Siren. "We might be able to use the humans to the benefit of the pack."

Murmurs rang out among the council before one of the elders gestured for Siren to continue. "How is that?"

"If we can have the humans trained in the magics of Xaythea, plus with their own abilities, we could potentially use them to help us in battle and defending our territory from enemies. One of the food abilities is force field generation. It might help the sentinels and xi with protecting the territory or at least the township."

"That would mean we would need to find a sorcerer willing to teach the children our magic," said the beta. "How can we be sure that the sorcerer will not steal the children and send hunters after us? Christopher got taken by hunters two years ago and Yarrow was killed on a patrol a couple days ago."

Ordovic was silent as he listened to his beta and gamma male speaking. "Remus is already an omega for attacking the human child Cedar. There is Fazzoth but he only knows Wild Magic which the humans can't learn and Runic Magic. I am unaware of how a sorcerer learns what magic they have been blessed with by Calius."

"Well Wild Magic is out and maybe Illusion Magic as well," said a tawny-colored delta. "Unless they are chosen by dragons, Draconic Magic is out so that leaves Pure Essence, Runic Magic, Aura Magic, and Nature Magic. Dark Magic…well that would be bad."

"Only a fool goes to Lord Vamdes for the help of dark magic," came the frail voice of the oldest elder. The Father of All was generally responsible for dark magic being given, Calius would rarely deal in that branch of magic. "Perhaps it is time for Remus to leave the pack and seek out help raising the human infants."

"What if this sentinel and his charges end up heading back to their own world? He seeks passage back to his own world and is not content here. I fail to see why when he has freedom here that he and his pups wouldn't have on their own planet."

"Perhaps the human children and pups feel that this is their planet. How much can human infants and young pups remember of their home planet? They aren't vampires with eidetic memories after all."

"This sentinel that was demoted to omega will be in charge of finding a sorcerer to teach the human children of magic," spoke Grimm. "He must seek out Calius to help find sorcerers for his human charges and if he wishes, he can speak to Lady Nitrix and Lord Vamdes. This will naturally take him away from the pack's protection, but as he is an omega, it is no real loss to us. As for his human charges and pups…they would be better here with the pack protecting them and able to care for them. Though the children and pups be weaned from milk, an omega cannot protect eight pups on their own, even one who has been demoted."

"Perhaps he can take the human children with him so Calius may test them to see if they have magic," suggested Reenen, brushing his gray hair out of his face. "They might be willing to go with the wolf and he needs to learn how to accept them and provide for them as he would his pups. Though his talk of being a wizard and the pups being potential wizards as well is naught but a fairy tale."

"We don't know that for certain. It could be these are strange werewolves that have magic due to being from a different world. An Aura sorcerer could tell us more if they weren't so inclined to harm us."

"It's decided. Remus will go in search of Calius and seek out his guidance for how to train the human children. If necessary, we will see about getting the appropriate sorcerer or sorcerers for the children. Let us hope nothing else goes wrong during this time, but the pups will remain here with us for their protection. The human children will go with Remus."

"Alpha…elders and council," spoke up Siren. "Someone should go with Remus to make sure he does not attempt to kill the human children. He could kill them, and we'd never know."

"Do you think Remus is capable of killing human children?"

"He adapted to hunting humans rather quickly," spoke Aeon. "It was surprising, given how he often wished he were human and not a werewolf. As for the human infants, not necessarily Remus but his wolf…Moony he calls it…is another story."

Murmurs sprang up among the council as they considered the Shaman's words. "Very well. Since the pups can be left within the pack and ye be taking an interest in Remus…Siren, Cox, Aluxious, and Eponine can go with you. Remus is a member of our pack, even if he is an omega and he should be reminded of that fact. But if he makes any threatening moves towards those human children who I've taken a chance with allowing into the pack…terminate him."

Primeval-Grass Moon, Year of the Dragon

Location: Bausbile, West Province, Faumios

Neville and Cedar were woken at Ethereal by Cox the next morning. The twin stars were but a speck on the horizon, the sky itself mostly dark but slowly the colors of dawn were appearing. Over the five years since the human children had been within the pack, the wolves had found that they could communicate with the offspring mentally, however the children could not respond as they weren't werewolves. It was the hope of the pack that the humans would learn to assimilate to pack lifestyle and not wish to rejoin the humans, given they were being raised as wolves, earning the same discipline and warnings as a wolf pup. When they became acolytes, they would be given the opportunity, as any wolf adolescent, to apprentice within a rank and the chance to become full pack members.

The children stumbled after Cox's amber furred body, the werewolf leading the human children out of the nursery and down the path from the den towards the center of the township. Not many in the pack were awake at this early hour of the day, however there were two members already packed and waiting for the children to be retrieved. Siren huffed at the human children in greeting, earning submissive looks from the pair of humans. They showed submission in their own way to the rest of the pack for pups were at the bottom of pack hierarchy, lower than even the omegas and eta.

"Be ready pups. We're going to be traveling quite a distance," spoke Siren as he looked at the children while waiting for Aluxious to fetch Remus from his home.

"Where are we going Siren," yawned Neville.

"Heading to Souldes pups, to speak to the God of Magic. The alpha wishes to send you with Remus to Calius to learn what magic you might have been blessed with."

"What about Seal and the others?"

"They will be staying within the pack," said Siren. "Alpha's orders."

"Not like us," said Cedar, the son of James and Lily still shy and nervous around the wolves. A few of the Caretakers had picked up on the child's fear of Remus. Neville was also frightened of Remus, but only when the man was in his were or wolf forms.

"That is why we are being sent with Remus," muttered Eponine. The honey-blond woman had her hair plaited into a braid out of the way as she shifted on her feet. "To protect you both and to remind the omega of his place in the pack."

Remus yelped as Aluxious set fire to his bed with his fire element, causing the wolf to yelp and scramble out of the burning blankets. "Now that ye awake, get packed. We be leaving and waitin' on ye so get to it," said Aluxious. Clenching his fist, the fire went out and the Xi waited for Remus to obey him. Tired and confused, Remus did as he was told and Aluxious huffed to himself as the omega grabbed a rucksack and packed some clothes. He didn't have any money, not having found a job and being worried for his pups, nor did he have any skills that could help him earn money on Xaythea. Though he wanted to go home to Earth with his pups, he had no idea of the state of things on his home world and at the same time, Remus didn't want to return. Here at least, he had a chance to make something of himself, to ensure his pups did not live a life of prejudice and being second class citizens in the United Kingdom.

Once they were out in the center of the township, Remus questioned where they were going. "The alpha has decided you will be heading to find Calius. The human children will be coming with us, as will the four of us by order of the alpha and his council," said Siren.

"What about my pups?"

"They will remain in the pack where they will be safe. Eponine and I are coming with you as the alpha wishes you to have discipline and be reminded that you are a member of our pack," said Siren. The pack will protect your pups as we will help protect the human children under your care as we will also help hunt. However, the human children are your main responsibility as you are their guardian."

"Why are they coming?"

"Alpha thought it would be a good bonding experience for you and the human children. Ye be their guardian and yet ye be a poor guardian. 'Tis not like ye a pureblood house of the council, yet ye refuse to play with thee charges when it comes to thou pups. If ye even think of turning back for thy pups, ye will be banished from the pack."

Siren's voice brokered no argument and as gamma male, he was the highest-ranking wolf in the group followed by Eponine. Cox, Auxilious, Remus and the human children were the submissive members of the group. The fact that the human children were not protesting the trip and the omega was asking questions was sadly not surprising. Hopefully, the wolf would smarten up. It would be a blow to Cox who had not taken any other apprentices since Remus in the five years that had passed. *'Let us hope the wolf does not screw up his chances of living past the beginning of young adulthood,'* spoke Siren to his fellow adult pack members. *'For Cox's sake as a mentor and the pups' sake. Though the human children might be glad of the wolf's death. They would certainly be safer.'*

The group heading towards Calius's temple, the likely place for the God of Magic to be located, was not the only event happening upon Xaythea this morning. Something else had occurred, another event across space and time…across universes… only this was not brought upon by an Aura sorcerer. "How are we getting to Calius's temple," Remus questioned.

"Ship obviously," said Cox. "'Tis the only way to travel when the continents are not together, but we be heading west. Now come on little omega. Daylight waits for no wolf."

The group of wolves shifted into their were forms to cover the distance for they were heading to the orcish port of Jaumay in the western province. "Where's this port at?"

*'Your apprentice talks too much when traveling Cox,'* spoke Aluxious.

*'Remus is no longer my apprentice Aluxious, but he does ask a lot of questions. Seal and Delta pick that up from him.'*

"Jaumay," said Eponine. "It be by a hill, specifically within thy Magbonear Knoll. They be a series of hills bordering the sea, dark and often covered in a permanent mist."

"Eat orcs?"

"Nay pup," said Cox as he turned to Cedar. "We were created to hunt vampires but will hunt and eat humans when there be no vampires around. Vampires, however, are our main food source though werewolves also need flesh and organs to survive. As vampires need blood to survive though they also eat food. But unlike humans or other mortal races, food gives them no nutritional value. This be true for our offspring…our trio subspecies as well." Encircling the human children though it was hard not to think of the young humans as pups, given they had grown up within the pack, Eponine led the way away from home. They went at an easy pace for the human pups to keep up, for even in were form, a werewolf could travel more easily than they could in their human bodies.

The climb was steep up Sine Fine which cut the country in half, surrounding the western province on three sides as Lithriel bordered the north. It was slow going for the pups as they had to scramble up the mountain side, Cox in front of the pups and Siren behind them to keep the pups from falling to their death. It was also to keep Moony from attempting to harm the pups that had the wolves between the omega and the pups. None of the adults, not even Cox, planned on telling Remus about why they were truly here, and the omega's fate should he attack or aim to harm the human pups. Should he step out of line…the group would terminate him as their alpha commanded.
