Chapter 2: Meeting the Winchesters
It took the boys two days to make it back to Bobby's house. Sam had been researching for a new hunt while Dean drove, only stopping when necessary to make sure they got back in time for the guy they owed too much to.
The sleek, black 1967 Chevy Impala pulled in the dirt drive, blowing dust behind its wheels as it slowed to a stop.
"His car isn't even here," Sam muttered, looking at the small junkyard that lay around his house. "Why would he make us come here if he didn't care enough to stick around a bit?"
Dean shrugged, turning the engine off as he let out a harsh sigh. "Well, it looks like we might be stuck waiting for him."
Sam laid his head back into the seat. "This sucks."
His older brother chuckled. "No shit, Sammy."
Sam groaned. "Stop calling me Sammy, you jerk."
Dean paused, waiting for a moment. "Bitch."
The elder Winchester laughed as he got out of the car, narrowly avoiding being smacked by his younger brother's flying hand. He popped his head back in the car with a cheeky grin. "Gotta be quicker there, Sammy."
Sam scrambled out of the car and leaned up against the side while watching Dean stride up to the door and look around for a key Bobby might've left behind. "I think Bobby's a little smarter than leaving keys laying around, Dean."
Dean tilted his head. "Maybe he's smart enough to leave one laying around, Sam."
The younger man sighed, walking forward as he watched his brother's continued search.
After not finding any key around, Dean placed his hand on the knob with a grin. "At least we know he wouldn't-"
The doorknob twisted open.
Sam and Dean looked at each other, all traces of joking set aside. Dean pulled out a handgun from the waistband of his jeans, and Sam followed suit.
Dean pursed his lips. "You thinkin' what I'm thinking?"
"Someone broke in?"
He nodded. "Or something bad happened. Let's just hope Bobby's not here."
"Agreed."

Persie was having a rough afternoon. This morning, she had been making Uncle B some breakfast but he ended up not having the ingredients he claimed to. So, after working diligently to make some restaurant-worthy meal, she had to scrap it and whip up some scrambled eggs.
She was slightly concerned as to what he ate when she wasn't around, so she just decided to be glad that she was here now and could help him out.
All she could find was eggs, some old shredded cheese, and some booze. Of course, there were some things in the freezer, like some burgers, ground beef, and some frozen pizzas- but nothing of sustenance.
Her and Uncle Bobby were going to have a serious discussion of taking care of himself, especially now that she's in town.
After making him run to town to grab some groceries, she started to compile a list of the monsters that she had been chased by, seen on coincidence, or had heard of in her Demigod world.
Of course, the Mist made things look different to hunters, but she supposed they were able to see through the Mist to some extent. Her mom and Aunt Karen had this ability, so she now thinks it's more common than she had previously thought.
The roaring sound of an engine making its way to the house was music to her ears. She was dying for something other than pizza or eggs and was hoping he'd grab some coke. Persie hadn't had a good coke since she'd been at Camp.
She looked out the window from Bobby's office, where she had parked herself behind his desk, and paused. That wasn't Bobby's truck.
A black older car had pulled in the gravel driveway and the engine had quickly turned off, making Persie start to feel slightly uneasy. She has always done well with strangers, but from what she's heard from Uncle B, these boys can be pretty volatile.
She wondered if writing Hunters on this list for Bobby would make him laugh, but she decided to not do it in case it just pissed him off. She was living with him for free, trying to not be a prick was the least she could do.
The first man to exit the car came from the driver's side, and even Persie had to admit that he was definitely handsome. Well, handsome in a ruggish kind of way, where his hair was nicely cropped, his jawline was rigorously sharp, and the way he was able to wear a leather jacket was definitely not fair for the rest of the men in the world.
His hair was lighter, his face was dark and tan, and she could tell from the way he held himself he didn't care much about what others thought of him.
Persie liked that kind of confidence in a man. But, she knew just how brash and dangerous that kind of confidence could become.
When the man in the leather jacket walked up to the front door, another man climbed out of the car. He was obviously younger with more of a baby-face, but he definitely was not boyish in any way. He, too, had a nice jawline and strong shoulders, something Persie recognized as a fellow warrior would continue to develop in time.
The younger man was obviously not impressed by his older brother, and Persie immediately felt a surge of jealousy shoot through her. She wished she had a sibling, someone she could rely on just as these brothers had each other.
She doubted they knew how lucky they were.
When they eventually pulled out their guns, Persie knew she had to think quickly if she wanted to somehow survive until Bobby got back without doing any damage to them.
If she wanted to help their cause, she shouldn't hurt them… well, at least she shouldn't hurt them too much.
They're the ones pulling their guns, after all.
Persie fiddled with Aegis at her wrist, a goodbye gift from Thalia, and retracted from pulling out Riptide. It wouldn't do anything to the Winchester brothers. They were mortal, well, Bobby told her they were mortal but maybe she'd have to see for herself.
Luckily for her, Bobby kept a spare machete ready in his office just in case he had to cut some heads off. Maybe she should consider doing something like that in her own home, but she doubted her mother would like it very much.
Persie grabbed the machete in one hand and left Aegis as a wristlet for the moment, at least until she knew the Winchesters were going to harm her. She wouldn't spill the demigod secret that quickly for nothing. She walked to hurry around the corner, where the boys wouldn't be able to see her until they walked past the living room where the door opened up to.
From here, she could see them, they couldn't see her. A perfect location for her own sake.
"Bobby?" The older Winchester's gruff voice called out.
She didn't dare move a muscle as they paused to listen for anything.
"He's probably not here, Dean," the younger man said, looking at his older brother in severity.
"Oh, someone's here all right," the older man, Dean, insisted. He pointed to where her bag was sitting on the couch. It was her duffle, the bag she traveled with, and kept her books and information for Bobby in. They saw it was full of different old texts as the zipper was wide open.
"Someone's stealing his books?"
Dean pursed his lips, his eyes scanning the living room once more. "Maybe."
She let out a huff and quickly regretted it as soon as the boys looked in her direction. "Someone's over there," she heard the younger Winchester whisper.
Footsteps made their way over to her, where she was standing in the corner leading to the kitchen. Bobby did need a new kitchen, and it would be easy access to water if she needed it.
Her eyes widened as someone jumped out in front of her, gun in the air pointing directly to the middle of her forehead, and she screamed, flicking Aegis into action, and placed herself behind the shield for cover.
"Who is it?" The younger one called.
"It's some girl!"
Persie looked around the shield carefully eyeing Dean holding the gun. "What do you want?" She asked firmly.
"This house doesn't belong to you, sweetcheeks," Dean said mockingly, clicking the safety off. "What are you, anyway?"
Persie decided she'd have liked his green eyes if they weren't so menacing and pointed directly at her. "I-"
"That's a Greek shield!" The other Winchester exclaimed, seeing what she was holding up. "Are you stealing that?"
She rolled her eyes. "No, sasquatch, it's mine."
Dean glared at her with more ferocity. "Tell us one more lie and I'll put a bullet in you."
Persie blinked.
His face turned into a wicked grin. "But that's not the only thing I'd like to put in you, sweet thing. Too bad you're a klepto or I'd let you keep me company."
Okay, that's it.
She took out the machete from behind her back and immediately started to run at the two men, using her shield as cover from the immediate rain of bullets.
The younger Winchester nearly grabbed her, but she ducked under his reach and used his momentum to put him on his back, then swung the shield in the direction of Dean, who called out to his brother.
Persie ditched the machete, throwing it into the wall when Dean ran out of bullets and ended up tackling her to the ground in perfect form. Aegis went flying from her grip as he used his body to hold her down as she struggled against him.
"Now this is a position I like," Dean grunted.
Persie glared daggers into his head. "In your dreams, pervert!"
She then headbutted the man who immediately regretted ever getting that close to her and she used his hesitation to launch him to the side, and rolled over to grapple again for her shield, but noticed that the other Winchester had kicked it away.
He was now standing, holding his gun, and pointing the barrel toward her chest once more. "Why are you here?"
Persie grit her teeth, knowing even if she told them they wouldn't believe her. So, instead of talking, she took action.
Feeling a familiar tug in her gut, she launched dozens of gallons of water toward the two men, tightening the molecules and thickening the power it had over them, forcing the two men to be held against the wall.
"Now, you boys listen here," she started. "I'm not trying to rob anyone-"
"Persephone Jackson, what the hell are you doing?"
So, at least Uncle Bobby had decided to finally show up. "Just teaching these two losers a lesson, Uncle B."
They both started to choke on their shock. "Uncle?" Dean exclaimed. "Did she just call you her uncle?"
Sam's eyes studied the situation in front of him, just as her blonde best friend would in his place. "What's going on, here?"
Bobby set the bags of groceries he had on the kitchen table. To be honest, Persie was pleasantly surprised at the lack of destruction their little mishap had created.
"Persephone, let them down," he ordered.
She blinked. "But-"
He cut her off with a cold stare. "If you want to work with them, you damn well better start trying to gain their trust."
Persie rolled her eyes, then let the water retract from their bodies and pushed it back into the drain where it had all come from. "Fine."
The Winchesters looked completely floored by this new information.
"Uh uh- hell no she isn't going to be working with us," Dean said, glaring at the younger girl in front of him. "This little bitch nearly killed us!"
Bobby coughed. "Careful what you say about my niece, you idjit."
Persie smiled wickedly at them, but Bobby noticed and stopped her mocking with another cold look.
"Dean's right, Bobby. She nearly drowned us," the younger Winchester tried, gesturing toward her to make his point clear. "If you hadn't shown up, we'd have hunted her like we would any other monster."
Persie gave him a pointed glare at the use of his words. "First of all, sasquatch, if Uncle B hadn't shown up, I probably would've either killed you myself or let you hang against the wall until he decided to grace us with his presence. No way you would've stopped me."
Bobby coughed again. "Remember you want to work with them," he muttered.
She chose to ignore his warning. "And, I am so not a monster. Like you two fools, I happen to hunt monsters for a living." She paused, thinking to herself. "Well, kind of."
Dean looked at Bobby as if he had been betrayed. "You want us to work with this girl who is definitely not human? And what? Hunt others like her?" His green eyes then turned to look at hers. "And what the hell does kind of mean?"
Persie crossed her arms. "Well, normally monsters find me and try to kill me for their own fun, so I've had to adapt to survive."
Bobby's face was stern as he said, "Persie, go make some lunch. Boys, I oughta tell you a few things out in the other room."
She immediately gaped at him. "What am I, your cook? I am so not going to-"
"You can, and you will, Persephone."
The stern gaze he shot her once more definitely told her saying no was not an option.
"Fine."
She didn't dare turn her back on the boys as she walked back to the kitchen, and she noticed they refused to do the same as they followed Bobby into the other room.
Well, this certainly wasn't how she expected their first meeting to go.
