AN: Thanks Goku275, AliceCullen3, and iron-dragon-slayer.
Writing this chapter took a bit longer than it should have. My birthday came around, and I got a bit distracted. Sorry about that.
Juvia stood in the middle of the road, awaiting the arrival of her opponent from the Garou Knights. Even if they were love rivals, Lucy and Yukino were her guildmates and her friends!
"And here she comes," thought the Fairy with sadistic glee as Kamika ran toward her. According to Mavis, the Garou Knight would come down this road while fleeing from Sherria. Kamika's magic was a poor match for the god slayer's, which could disperse the paper squares and undo any anomalous conditions they inflicted upon the Lamia. "Water Slicer!"
Juvia sent cutting blades of water toward Kamika, who proceeded to dodge them.
"Tch," went Kamika, clicking her tongue. "Paper Blizzard: Yellow Dance."
Yellow squares of paper appeared around the Garou Knight and produced a bright light, blinding Juvia. When the Fairy's eyes recovered, Kamika was long gone.
"Hmph," huffed Juvia, annoyed. Even if Mavis had warned her there was a 55% of Kamika fleeing instead of giving in to her building frustration and fighting, it hadn't stopped the water mage from hoping. "At least Gajeel will finish her off while I fight Sherria."
Mavis had also predicted that the magic used by the Garou Knight to escape Juvia would draw the god slayer's attention, a calculation that was proven accurate moments later when the girl in question arrived.
"You're the woman that Lyon loves!" cried Sherria, forgetting her search for Kamika. "Sky God's Boreas!"
"I didn't ask for him to love me!" responded Juvia as whirling black winds gathered around her opponent's hands.
"Then just…" said the god slayer, putting her hand together to unleash a swirling stream of black wind upon the Fairy. "…go away!"
"God slayer or not, I suppose she's still just a girl in love," observed Juvia as she endured Sherria's spell. "I sympathize for her — love me, Gray — but that doesn't mean I'll just roll over and let her win!"
"Water Cane!" shouted Juvia as she sent a whip of water through the buffeting wind. It struck the god slayer's right arm, disrupting her spell. The Fairy addressed her opponent. "I refuse! I will win this match… for my beloved Gray!"
"Paper Blizzard," spoke Kamika, forming her paper squares into a collection of fists. She then had those fists strike Gajeel and Rogue, who were laying on the ground a few feet in front of her, unaware of her presence.
The two dragon slayers, injured and defenseless, were knocked out by this attack, causing Kamika to smirk.
"It looks like my luck has finally turned around," said the Garou Knight smugly. "I don't know why these idiots fought one another in the middle of the event or why they didn't move or hide despite everything getting broadcast to the other competitors, but I am thankful for their stupidi—"
A fist slammed into the top of Kamika's head, knocking her unconscious.
"Don't insult my friends," Natsu told the fallen Garou Knight, scowling. "Do it again and I'll use a Fire Dragon's Iron Fist instead of a regular fist."
As she was not awake, Kamika did not hear the message. But, when she was later informed of the dragon's words (after being reprimanded for getting so caught up in her victory that she didn't notice an incredibly un-stealthy person approach her on a battlefield), the Garou Knight gulped. Apparently, her unlucky streak was unbroken.
+2 points for Garou Knights. +1 point for Fairy Tail B.
With a relentless barrage of sword strikes, Kagura sent Erza (donning her Flight Armor) crashing into the ground. The Mermaid landed before her opponent, who groaned.
"That was surprising," said Erza, now on her knees and panting. "I never suspected there would be someone like that. So, that strength of yours stems… from your grudge against…?"
Kagura kicked Erza's stomach, launching the Fairy into a nearby pillar.
"What happened to you?" asked Erza. What inner demons possessed her opponent, so great that she became this powerful?
"You should know what that man has done!" rebuked Kagura. "Simon, one of the men Jellal killed… was my brother!"
"Simon's little sister?" thought Erza, recalled old memories as the Mermaid recounted her past and the discovery of her brother's death from Wally and Shô. "Those two weren't there when it happened…"
The Fairy's words surprised Kagura.
"The only ones in that place… were myself, Jellal, Natsu, and Simon. Yes, perhaps it is true that the hand that killed Simon was Jellal's… but… the one responsible for his death was not Jellal but… me."
"You would go that far to protect Jellal!?" shouted Kagura, quivering with fury.
"No, it is the truth!" denied Erza, beginning to rise to her feet. "It was my own weakness that killed Simon."
Kagura's eyes started to tear up, memories of her brother flooding into her mind. And, as she drew Archenemy from its sheath, Kagura gave a furious, miserable scream.
"I'm sorry," whispered Erza as the blade approached her.
"I never expected you to have such a hard time, Sherria," spoke Lyon as he walked up to her and Juvia. The two girls were currently engaged in a cat fight. "That's Juvia for you."
"Damnit!" cursed Gray, who also stumbled upon this fight. Having finished the fight against Neppa, he didn't have anything left to do. "Why'd I have to come across a fight that'll be nothing but a pain."
The two girls, forgetting about their fight, turned to their respective crushes and cried out happily. "Lyon/Gray!"
The two guys ignored them, stare at one another competitively.
"I've taken out two opponents to your one," said Lyon smugly.
"Two small fries versus the man who hospitalized my guildmate," retorted Gray, a bit of anger seeping into his voice. "If you really want, though, we can make it three to two right now."
Gray's words, while directed at Lyon, were interpreted quite differently by his teammate.
'We can make it three to two right now.'
'We can make it be us two right now.'
'Let's get married, Juvia.'
"So where will our honeymoon be, darling?" asked Juvia as she hugged Gray's arm.
"What's going on inside your head!?" shouted the ice mage in question.
"This must not be!" exclaimed a jealous Lyon. "I must awaken Juvia before it's too late!"
"You're the one who has to wake up, Lyon!" cried an equally upset Sherria, tears streaking down her face.
And, thus, the battle between the two disciples of Ur (and the women who loved them) began, albeit rather comically.
"…But it doesn't mean I must die!" declared Erza resolutely, deflecting Kagura's slash with a Requipped katana. Titania rose to her feet, performing another Requip. "Simon allowed me to live! Grandpa Rob allowed me to live! My friends allow me to live! To give up my life would dishonor those who have departed!"
However, Erza's words and 'armor' (her Clear Heart Clothing) did not calm or deter her opponent. The Mermaid shot toward the Fairy, oozing pure hatred.
"I'll kill both you and Jellal!" screamed Kagura, performing a ferocious barrage of slashes. "I will kill you both!"
"If that is what gives you energy, then I will not complain," stated Erza as she defended herself. "And I do not intend to try to crush those feelings, but… I also do not intend to lose!"
With that, Titania switched from defending to attacking. With a single overwhelming strike, she knocked Kagura — so fixated on revenge and killing that she forgot to guard against counterattacks — off her feet.
As the fallen Mermaid struggled to get back up, a large piece of rubble broke off of one of the nearby pillars, on course to flatten her. Between her injuries and fight to stand, she did not notice this.
"Watch out!"
Luckily, Erza did. The Fairy shoved her opponent out of the rubble's path at the cost of one of her own legs getting crushed by the debris. Kagura stared at her foe, dumbfounded.
"What?" she said, uncomprehending. "Why?"
"I… know… who you are…" explained Erza, speaking slowly as she adjusted to her new injury. "Or maybe… I should say… I remembered. Though… I didn't know… your name. The only thing I knew you as… was Simon's… little sister."
Erza proceeded to explain to Kagura that she was from the same village as her and Simon. This stirred the Mermaid's memories, causing her to recall how, on the day their village was attacked and Simon was abducted, a red-haired girl hid Kagura to save her from the same fate.
Kagura wept, ashamed by the realization that she had been trying to kill her savior… the girl who protected her at the cost of her own freedom. She walked over to Erza, lifted the stone crushing the Fairy's leg, and pulled her out from under it.
"I have not made sense of this in my heart," began Kagura as she put down the stone. "However… this particular match… is my loss."
With those words, Kagura surrendered. Erza rose to her feet and shook the Mermaid's hand. "It was a pleasure. I would love to fight you again, under better circumstances."
"Thank you," replied Kagura, giving a small smile.
This moment of good sportsmanship ended quickly, though, when a new voice rang out.
"You should not forget that this is a battlefield," reprimanded Kama as he walked toward the two. "The sole reason I didn't take advantage of your distraction to eliminate you both is because that would not serve the goal of showcasing our kingdom's strength as well as defeating you in a duel."
"Awfully conceited of you to think you can win," retorted Erza, grinning as she turned to face her next opponent. "Even with my current injuries, I have more than enough strength left to defeat you."
Kama pulled out his twin scythes. Erza gripped her katana with both hands. Then, the two shot at one another and swung.
+5 points for Fairy Tail A. Team Mermaid Heel eliminated.
Jura smiled as he looked at the mage before him. "I have always wanted to cross fists with you… at least once. Since you are Makarov's—"
"Hold it," said Laxus, interrupting the Wizard Saint. "Don't finish that sentence. The two of us standing here aren't an old guy with some big title or somebody's grandson. Just two guys facing off."
Jura's smile grew a bit bigger. "I like that look."
The two stared at one another, the only sound being the sparks coming off of Laxus. Then, the dragon slayer shot at Jura, a cloak of electricity surrounding him. The Wizard Saint calmly brought his hands together as if praying, before delivering a chop to the approaching Laxus. The Fairy smashed into the ground with enough force to form cracks.
"However high you get, there's always somewhere higher," stated Jura. "I know this better than most. No matter how much I train, I remain weaker than the Four Gods of Ishgar. Furthermore, Natsu proved on the first day that he has surpassed me."
"Nobody knows better than me," spoke Laxus. His grandfather was also a Wizard Saint, and his guildmates included a monster like Gildarts. "But you should look down sometimes too! There might be someone at your feet!"
The dragon slayer rose, giving his opponent a lightning-enhanced uppercut. This battle was just getting started.

"Simon, one of the men Jellal killed… was my brother!"
These words echoed through the Communications Lacrima, stunning Ultear, F-Blaze, Orga, and Rufus. (The latter two, after being the first to recover from having their Second Origins unlocked, had joined the girls in watching the GMG.)
"I remember hearing about Jellal's crimes," began Rufus. "I knew logically that people had died because of him. But, actually seeing a victim's family member… it's… it makes his actions…"
"Real," finished Orga. "Jellal killed a man. He's a murderer."
"How do you make up for choosing to kill a guy?" asked F-Blaze. "Even helping us save the future isn't enough."
"Actually…" went Ultear, as she started the story of her dark past. The former Dark Mage had winced at Kagura's backstory, along with the comments of the other three. She could only hope that they took the truth better than F-Blaze's mother had.
AN: Tenrou Group - 2, Tartaros Group - 1, Garou Knights - 2. Yeah, the fact that last chapter said "hopefully, nobody would attack them before then" was some not-so-subtle foreshadowing. Just for the record, Mavis's plan has fallen apart by this point. The last of the fights she predicted have started.
That's all for now. Bye!
