Chapter 37: Spend the Night Together

"I want to go. I really do. I just don't know how to tell them. Tell him. Would he be fine? I really hope so. He seems to be happy here, after years of being away. I don't want him to lose that happiness. Maybe I'm just overthinking it. I'll have to tell him to find out."

"Hey, Amber. You in there?"

Amber snapped back into reality at the voice. Cato had came home. She started to fake being asleep.

Cato opened the door a crack and peered his head through the door. He scanned the room and saw Amber on the bed. He walks up to her and sat beside her.

"Amber?"

Amber tried her best to stay visibly asleep. Cato played with her hair a little bit, twirled it around his finger. Amber now trying persistently not to smile or else it'll give her away.

Cato smiled looking at her. She knows it. She let out a small moan and instantly heard Cato chuckle.

"You're not very good at faking being asleep, are you?"

Cato stopped playing with her hair and she finally caved in.

"What is it?" she asked.

"Is there something wrong? You're not usually the type to just be on a bad mood for no reason."

"I'm fine."

"Babe, I know you're not. Just tell me. Maybe I can help. We can get through with this together."

Amber hesitated before continuing. "I hope you'll be fine with this." She got up and went to her table to grab a piece of paper. She went back to the bed and handed it to Cato.

"What is this?" Cato asked.

"It's a scholarship offer...to New York."

(Downstairs)

Cato and Gumball had arrived at the mansion a few minutes ago. Gumball, falling victim to Endo and Kira's April Fools prank, tore off parts of his pants. Since he was going to hang out with Carrie that night, he decided to follow Cato straight to the mansion and borrow one of Cato's jeans for the night.

Right as Cato opened the door, he zipped all the way to Amber and Carrie's room, literally. Gumball came in after and saw Carrie sitting lazily on the couch watching TV. She noticed Gumball and went up to him and hugged him, but was stopped halfway as she also noticed that his pants was dripping thick white liquid.

"I know this looks bad, but I can explain." he said defensively.

"Oh yeah, I'm sure there's a huge explaination for this." Carrie retorted.

Gumball explained about what happened earlier; the four getting detention to Gumball being the only victim to Endo and Kira's prank. They all almost left him behind even.

The glue they used was so strong, Endo and Dante had to pull Gumball forwards while Cato, Kira and Jamie had to pull the chair backwards to get him unstuck.

"And thus, this happened." Gumball motioned to his pants and even turned around to show the gaping hole torn from his pants because of the glue.

Carrie stiffled back a laughter but couldn't handle it for much longer. "Yeah, that sounds like what my Gummy-puss would do alright, you clumsy."

Gumball turned back to face her. "So I'm gonna need to borrow one of Cato's pants for the night."

"Are you sure? I can get used to the view of this." Carrie said licking and putting a finger on her lips menacingly. Gumball started blushing hard.

"Maybe another time."

"Fine, the room at the top of the stairs. Hurry and get changed, we're gonna binge-watch Five-0 Elmore tonight."

"You got it, love." Gumball said as he walked up the stairs.

When he reached the top, he looked down the hallway towards Amber and Carrie's room.

"Holy shit! Are you serious?!" a voice said from the room.

"Wait, that's Cato." Gumball thought as he walked nearer to eavesdrop on the conversation.

"You're not mad, are you?" Amber asked.

"Mad? Why would I be mad? This is amazing for you."

"Wonder what's going on?" Gumball thought again.

"What about the others? What would they think?" Amber asked again.

"I'm sure the others will understand. Besides, by the time it happens, we'd be graduating already. We can take care of it ourselves." Cato said.

"Wait, take care of what?" Gumball thought.

"Maybe. Who knows, we can start a family of our own." Amber said jokingly and giggled.

Gumball's eyes widen, obviously not getting that it was a joke. And neither did Cato apparently. "Maybe we get married first before anyone says something bad about it when the baby comes out eh?"

"Oh shit!" Gumball yelled silently by accident. He walked away and into Cato's room to change.

(Amber's room)Cato peered over to the door to see who was the one who yelled.

"What's wrong?" Amber asked, looking at the direction he's facing.

"I thought I heard something." Cato answered. "Probably just me. You really want a family, don't you?"

Amber had a thought for a little. "Well, I'd be lying if I said I haven't had the thought for awhile. I just wanted to know how it feels like to have my own family again."

"Me too. But maybe wait till we're ready for it. Right now,.." Cato wrapped Amber in a hug. "I'll be your family. I love you, Amber. And I'm happy you got your scholarship. I'll follow you if I have to."

Amber returned the hug, trying to hold back tears. "I love you too, Cato. Thank you. For everything."

(Downstairs)

Gumball walked down the stairs and found Carrie setting up the coffee table.

"There you are. What kept you?" Carrie asked.

"Took awhile to find those jeans. His room was a mess."

"Alright, c'mon the show's starting."

Gumball went to the couch and looked at the various snacks on the coffee table. Carrie had readied a bowl of popcorn and a couple of glasses.

"Ooo, fancy glasses. That means..." Gumball said.

"Fancy wine." Carrie brought up a couple bottles of wine onto the table. "Perfect for a fancy date at home for a fancy couple."

"Taking it to the next level I see."

"Couldn't hurt to try something new." Carrie said as she sat down next to Gumball.

Throughout the multiple episodes, Gumball had his arm on Carrie as Carrie snuggled on Gumball's chest.

"Tonight's really lovely, Gumball." Carrie says in the middle of the show.

"Yeah, because you're here with me." Gumball said as he took one glass of wine. "Cheers to us."

Carrie did the same. "Cheers." And they both took a sip of wine.

(A few hours later)

"Aw, man. I'm sooooo wasted." Gumball said groggily. "How old was that wine?"

"It was my...dad's. I guess it's...pretty old." Carrie then said, hiccupping almost every three words. "My head fucking hurts." Okay, maybe more than three words.

"What time is it? We still..got school tomorrow."

"I don't know, baby. I feel soooo weak right now. I don't know how much...we drank."

"Probably a lot. We're fucking drunk as fuck."

"Speaking of fucking." Gumball said (Uh-oh). "I overheard Cato and Amber..saying they're having a kid or sumn' ".

"What? You're kidding." Carrie said as she weakly punched Gumball's arm.

"That's why I took awhile...upstairs. I was hearing them talking."

Carrie then got on all fours on the couch facing Gumball. "So, what are you thinking of, hot stuff?"

"Well, do you wanna...you know? Take it to the next level" Gumball said, winking and running his hand over Carrie's hair. (Getting pretty weird)

"Thought you'd never ask. Couldn't hurt to try something new, right?" Carrie said looking at him all sly. "Let's go somewhere more...private. My dad's away for the night, we can use the master bedroom. At least we can be louder."

"If it doesn't wake the other two up."

"You worry too much. C'mon you lovable hunk." Carrie grabbed Gumball's arm and they both went up the stairs (probably not in their right minds still).

As they got up the stairs to the master bedroom on the other side of the hallway from Amber and Carrie's room, Amber and Cato are currently sleeping on Amber's bed, Cato sleeping underneath while Amber sleeps on top of him. His hand wrapped around her chest as Amber can feel his steady heartbeat.

And the night goes on..

That ends the chapter for now. I'm glad it did, I can't handle another cringe looking at me trying to write a drunk couple's conversation before they have "the time of their lives". But it was nice for some exposition on Amber's part. So she's going to New York soon and most probably with Cato. What would happen later on? And is Cato and Amber actually having a baby? Haven't ruled that out (Or I might just be joshing you ;) ). Anyway, that's all I got for now. Hope you guys enjoyed and I'll see you guys in the next chapter. Peace out!
