Chapter 4
As the Great Jaggi was trying to rip the armour that it had in its mouth trying to rip her flash off. Saachi fist her left hand and started to punch it in the muzzle trying to get it off of her. Feeling the sharp fangs getting deeper to her side about to rip off her side when the armour gives out. With no luck of getting the Great Jaggi off of her and small ones move in for the kill by going for her neck again. Then out of nowhere, the Jaggis was hit away from her from another feline like the ones from town but this one was in small armour for the feline will wielding a lance for a weapon. The feline lancer aimed his lance to the Great Jaggi's head and charged straight at its head-on. Once his lance hit the Great Jaggi lower jaw it let go of Saachi's side, stepping away from down hunter and the feline lancer. Saachi got up on her feet grabbing a paintball with her right hand throwing it at the Great Jaggi, the paintball splat over the side of the Great Jaggis as it turned to flee to another area for the hunting grounds. "You ok, pertner?" The feline English was pretty good from the other felines she met. Saachi nodded before drinking a position to numb the pain from her close call.
"Thank you, awe...?" Saachi was not sure if he had given his name or not.
The feline had given a little laugh then answered "the name's Sandstorm and I am your trusty palico purrtner. I have been doing this for moons now and looking forward to hunting beside you." Placing his lance on his back walking over to her side as she sharpened her sword with one of the mini whetstones the guild had provided. She placed her sword into the holster and followed the paint trail left from the paint on the Great Jaggi. "May I ask what your name is pertner?"
"I'm Saachi, nice to meet you." She said to give was a soft smile to her new palico partner. As they follow the paint trail to see the Great Jaggi trying to drink some water but having problems since it's lower jaw was nearly broken from sandstorm's lance. Two of the Jaggis were looking around then to take their turn to drink some water with the wounded Great Jaggi. Saachi looked around crouching down to keep out of sight of the Jaggis that would lookout. Seen a natural stone bridge that the small creek ran under it and the Great Jaggi was not that far from it to try another mount it again. She started to move but Sandstorm put one of his paws on her lag stopping her will using his other paw pointing to the two Jaggis looking around again, she got close to the ground but having the palico beside her. The Jaggis went back drinking the water again and Sandstorm tapped her, she pulled herself to her knees making her way to the stone bridge with Sandstorm close to her heels. She got close to the edge where she could see it smelling around trying to get her sent again still on edge and she can't blame it.
She jumped off the stone bridge unsheathing her iron sword slashing down at the great Jaggi back to knock it on the ground but it jumped back which the slash has broken the other frill on its head. As she landed she could see the great Jaggi was stepping side to side trying to keep its balance, she ran up to its chest and side slashing up at an angel to slash at the same place but down to slash across the Great Jaggi's side. She was so focused on the Great Jaggi that she did not see one of the small Jaggi jumps onto her back digging its shape claws into her back. Her armour stopped its claws from piercing her skin again but the Jaggi used its razor-sharp fangs into the back of her neck. She tried to get the Jaggi off just to feel the Great Jaggi tail against her left side, shooting pain through her whole body knocking her over to the ground on her side. The Jaggi gets its claws out of her back holding her down to the ground as the Great Jaggi repinning her to the ripping into her again. "Get away from my purrtner, nya!" Sandstorm hissed as he drew his lance to charge at the Great Jaggi making it take a step away from his partner, finishing his charge hitting the Jaggi to let go of her neck.
Saachi grabbed her iron sword stabbing the Jaggi through the chest that had her by the neck earlier as it jumped at her. She got to her feet, letting Jaggi's body slipped off the blade hitting the ground. The great Jaggi growled at her as she lifted her shield a little just to be ready to block an attack when it comes. The great Jaggi lunch itself straight at her again tempting to bite onto her but she just blocked it, deflecting the great Jaggi back as it pushed Saachi back a little quickly getting her footing back. She charged at the great Jaggi slashing up its right lag, it let out a cry of pain again as it turns around slashing easily through her armour with its claws of its left hand. Sacchi gripped her teeth with pain feeling the claws cut through her right side, feeling her hot blood running down her side under the armour. Knowing that she needs to drink another position or at how much damage she was taking she will have to craft a mage position at this rate. Then just to remember what her mentor told her that when they had the first hunt together, looking to the old palico that was fighting the great Jaggi by himself. "Hold on a little longer Sandstorm." She said to herself as she grabbed a few positions and some honey she gathered from the beehive making a few mage positions.
Putting most of them into her item pouch, keeping two put to drink the positions taking the pain away again. She glanced around trying to spot Sandstorm just to see the old palico in the great Jaggi's fangs getting toasted around like a rag doll. Sandstorm was in pain but he was not going to let it out, swinging his lance whacking straight across the great Jaggi face making it drop the old palico. As he landed he told his hunter partner "sorry purrtner, I got to heal." Digging away from the monster to heal his wounds.
Saachi leaping from a small hill giving her enough room to slash the back of the Great Jaggi. Grabbed onto the light creamy fur with her right hand nearly falling off the side, she pulled herself up on the back using her weight contacting the great Jaggi body movement as it tried to shake her off. Since that did not work it wiped its body hard to the right then doing some hard jumps as it was trying to buck her off. It stopped panting to get more air into it giving her time to sheathe her sword to take her hunting knife out to stab it in the back. This time not taking many stabs to take it down sending her flying to the ground again. Getting herself to her feet she sprinted to the great Jaggi that was trashing on the ground trying to get its foot under itself to pull up.
Unsheathing her sword slashing across its side breaking its one lag. As it called out with pain the small pack of jaggis came jumping out swarming around the hunter. Saachi sprung around slashing the great Jaggi at the same time, as one of the jaggis jumped at her just to jump back as she slashed at it. The pack kept Saachi busy as the great Jaggi got up limping away to a den looking hole. Just as it got into the den Saachi saw the paint worn off of it as it disappeared into it. "Are you kidding me?" She said to herself, turning her forces back to the small pack. Saachi swung her sword slashing two jaggis in the lower chest killing one and injuring the other one. As the ones in front of her were keeping her busy so one could sneak around her, it snapped its jaws onto her left leg but she did not feel it to her armour.
The Jaggi was about to try to bite once more but was going for the weak point in the armour at the inner knee but Sandstorm just popped out of the ground using his lance ramming it away from her. As he landed next to her, she just finished one of her powerful swings cutting some of Sandstorm's whiskers above his left eye off. "Hay purrtner, watch where you swing that sword of yours." He hissed at her then letting a growl afterwards.
"Sorry, I am not used to having a palico with me." Saachi said not taking her focus on the small pack of jaggis. As three of the jaggis jumped at her she slashes her sword up at an angle killing two of the jaggis that was hit from her powerful swing she did a few minutes ago, the other one misses the blade but was ram by Sandstorm's lance sends flying back crashing to the ground next to the last Jaggi. The wounded Jaggi just pulled itself up to its feet then the two of them fled away from the duo. The wounded Jaggi did not make it far since Sandstorm set chase after it. Saachi carved the four jaggis getting two scales, one hide and a bird wyvern fang from the four of them. After carving the last Jaggi she looked around to see Sandstorm standing over another dead Jaggi, he put the poor Jaggi out of its pain. Saachi walked over to carve the last Jaggi, getting another thing of Jaggi hide from it. Putting her carving knife back into its holster, she crotch next to Sandstorm scratching under his chin. As she saw his body went relaxed she did a quick look to see if the old palico was badly hurt, most of his wounds were healed but scars tell her that he had seen tough fights before. "Let's finish this hunt." She said with a sweet soft voice giving a warming smile to her palico partner.
As they followed the creek back to the golden field, they happened to hear the great Jaggi calling out in the far distance. Saachi and Sandstorm both ran making ground before the great Jaggi flees from the hunting ground. As they got to the spot where the call came from they saw the great Jaggi sleeping in a nest made from dirt that was piled up with some bones mixed in. She quietly got close to the sleeping bird wyvern that she can plunge her sword into the monster's back when the time comes. Sandstorm moves to the other side of the sleeping bird wyvern with his lance ready, Saachi got into a quick sprint from where she was lunching off the ledge that was a foot away from the nest digging her sword through the back of the great Jaggi waking it up from its sleep letting out a cry of pain. As the great Jaggi was getting to its feet Saachi sliced straight through the upper leg causing it to fumble to the old palico way, making the Great Jaggi stumble a little as she cut through its lag.
Sandstorm rammed the great Jaggi in the side making it hit the ground just to pull itself up quickly seen saachi in the air with her sword drawn above her head ready to slash down on it but the great Jaggi smoked her out of the air with its thick tail. She lands on her hands and knees before she could roll over onto herself onto her back the great Jaggi pin her down again. It uses its claws flipping her over to her back as it started to bit at her. Rolling side to side trying to evade the great Jaggi's bits but most was landing on her, she uses her shield as she has seen the great Jaggi was about to bit down at her again blocking it. She blocked a couple of more bits back to back than the opening she was looking for. The great Jaggi put more power on this bite than to other ones tempting to break the shield, she swings her shield smacking it right in the head getting it off of her. Giving no time she quickĺy got to her feet and sweeping her sword off the ground when she was hit out of air. "Meowaster behind you!" Sandstorm yell as he saw the great Jaggi jumped at saachi as she grabbed her sword from the ground. As the great Jaggi came down at Saachi she braced herself with her sword pointing straight at the great Jaggi. As the great Jaggi crash onto Saachi, they both hit the ground "Meowster!" Sandstorm yelled putting his lance onto his back to full tilt run to the dead Great Jaggi.
As he got there Saachi was trying to get out from under the dead Great Jaggi with her whole right leg right up to her lower left side pinned under it. Sandstorm with a worried look on his feline face, Saachi has seen it and reached to the old palico scratch under his chin telling him. "I'm all right Sandstorm, but let's get it off before I lose feeling in that lags." Sandstorm nodded readily to help push off the Great Jaggi off of Saachi. "On three. One, Two, Three." With that Saachi and Sandstorm, both pushed moving the shoulder up off of Saachi's lower side then was able to get her legs free as well. Saachi got to her feet and dusted off her armour, she lifted the Great Jaggi's shoulder so the arm will lift so she can grab her sword out of the Great Jaggi's chest fling off the blood to resheath it. Grabbing her hunting knife out to start craving the Great Jaggi reserving a claw and two rolls of hide. The rest of the body will be used by the Hunters Guild and some will be rewarded for doing this hunt, she grabbed the flare out of her items pouch and fired it up into the air so the airship can pick her up. It also used to tell the hunters that have to retrieve the body. As the airship landed the captain welcomed her onboard again. "Back to Val Habar, please kind sir." She kindly said to him with a soft smile.
He nodded to see the old pailco walking behind her. "For sure Hunter, well who is this little guy." The captain said, look to the Saachi feline partner. The old palico gives him a hiss as they loaded up to return to Val Habar.
