Chapter 17

The sun rises on Beacon, its beams of light cutting into the dorm rooms of those that call the place home. Alec passes warm drinks to his friends, the slowly forming morning routine that has grown in the weeks of living together. Gathering their books and weapons they head out of the dorm room and start their way to the mess hall. The classes for the day are calmer than the day before almost normal for people their age, except that every single person in the room is armed better than the defense forces of some villages. Math, History, Languages of the five Kingdoms, Communications, first aid the classes stay calm teachers explaining their subjects and make sure that any of their students can find them. Lunch is also very quiet; it seems like there had been too much excitement the day before.

Finally comes combat class, there is no pair off this time, the students are set against hard light replicas of different Grimm, the teacher and his staff watching as the Units began facing stronger and stronger opponents. They take notes and videos the Units fight. The first Units bows out after an hour knocked down to danger levels as the hard light Grimm beat them into a corner and destroy them. As the fights continues the numbers of active teams collapses down lower and lower. As the Huntsman Units burn out and have their simulations cut. Some in the middle of getting slashed by a hard light Grimm.

"Medic!" The call screams out as every hard light Grimm disappears, "Medic! We Have a major cut."

Alec looks at Paul, "Go!" Paul dashes away his rifle thrown over his shoulder, "Danny with him," She nods and flies catching up to the Medic as he runs. Alec places his weapons in their holsters as he walks after the pair. Mimi falling in step beside him her weapon slinging over her shoulder, and Raven and Beethoven follow. Rita and Tina have a bit more trouble, limping from being thrown across their simulator room right before the call. People are looking stressed, worried, questioning, "Keep up the look of confidence." Alec whispers barely loud enough for Mimi to hear as she nods a reply.

As they make it to the place where the call came from people crowd around as Alec pushes his way through Mimi shoving past. "Paul what happ…" He is caught is words in his mouth as he sees the scene in front of him. Keller Pointer is staring at the scene of her unit laying on the ground. Most of them are bleeding with claw cuts deep. Medics from a few teams are doing quick patch jobs while Beacon staff is hopefully running to their aid. "Mimi help Paul." His voice raises, "Everyone either help or move make room. Someone finds the medial staff now." The panic squeezes its way to his voice and people start moving back. One of the teaching assistants gets off their scroll and stares with an iron glare not saying a word.

Rita stands next to Alec shocked as everyone else, "Um what do we…"

Alec cuts her off, "Danny I need you here now."

She jumps up and runs over with Rita taking over her spot next to Paul, "What do you need?"

"Your semblance is emotion control," Danny nods to the statement, "How many can you effect?"

"Um with this much stress, maybe five if I am lucky but I will burn out quick."

"Focus on the medics do your best," He raises his voice, "I need some one that can transfer aura front and center. Everyone else back off unless you can help!"

A large bull Faunus steps forward with a salute, "What do you need me to do."

"I need you to help keep Danny going, she is going to burn out fast with what she is doing."

"Got it," he places a hand on Danny's shoulder and a light glow is shared between the pair.

Alec quickly looks around as the teachers stand back. He notes it hoping that that means everything is going correctly. Then he looks to seven members of the Unit bleeding on the ground and trails to their leader. She is in shock. "Hannah," He calls and in a moment the Rabbit lands next to him, "Focus on Pointer try to keep track of everything pass it on to your boy have him write down everything he can."

"Aye." The normally smiling face steady and serious.

Alec begins to walk over to the woman who looks more her age than anytime before. He sighs as he slips off his coat and places it over her shoulders, "It's going to be alright Pointer, they will be fine." In Alec's head he counts how long it has been since the call went out. The Medical staff should be arriving soon two minutes at the maximum. The woman shivers and stares at her unit their blood no longer spilling but still staining the floor. "Keller You need to snap out of it before the Headmistress or the medical staff gets here. Your Unit needs a leader who is mentally here."

Her shivering body looks at him, her lips parse, "What do you care? If I loose my position you wont have to deal with me."

"I might disagree with you on some things, but your people care about you, they need their leader. Go over what happened with me." Alec stays in a low calm voice.

"The simulation threw a bunch of Beowolves at us we had to push forward or else we would get cornered and shredded. Their Aura was low so I took point and started pushing forward." She stares at the floor. "We were doing well and then they got cut off from me for three seconds, probably less, I slashed back, took a hit to the back but reconnected our Unit. I missed it all four Alphas hit them and put them all down then I got hit again the Simulation shut off and I saw the blood. I called for a medic the moment I saw it."

"Alright, nothing else happened that you know of?"

She shakes her head slowly, "They were low but not out, their auras are not as strong as mine so maybe they just were overwhelmed."

"Maybe, medical is here go with your team." She stands up and starts walking to go with the medical staff Alec's coat still over her shoulders. Alec walks over to the training assistant with a determined look and with a gulp he looks at the man, "Are each of these controlled separately?"

"Yes." He gestures toward the panel for the simulator room, "The best technology available."

"Thanks," Alec nods as the training assistant is a second to late as he sees Alec draw and fire his weapon into the controls.

"What the hell are you doing," The lock jawed teacher yells as loudly possible. The silence following is terrifying as everyone staring at Alec. The teaches walks towards Alec as he shoot the panel again black residue leaking down. "That is a half million lien piece of equipment. Have you gone mad."

"Sir." He looks as a weakened Geist crawls out of the panel. He stares as around him weapons are drawn.

Through clenched teeth he growls, "What are you all waiting for open fire." The cacophony of fire is debilitating, the wall burns, the Geist burns, the air smells of fire and art durst. Everyone stares as they realize what happened. "Check everything I am not going to let this happen again."

The Units and training staff begin checking every piece of equipment in the training hall. It takes hours as the angry vengeance filled Huntsmen check every place there is to hide for a creature that can possess anything. When it is over there are millions of Lien worth of damage and not one more Grimm to be found. Nothing is to be found. A single Grimm caused the near death of seven of them and nothing more was found.

Crimson Imerta is furious a second Grimm in her school her home, it was her responsibility and now she has to look in the mirror and explain to herself how they snuck in. How long had they been there? Seven of her students are laying in the medical wing, and one is going to need counseling. No one feels safe. Now come the hard question, who can she trust.

"We have a problem." Her cane wielding friend says with a serious look in her face. "The General some how found out about our incident today. He is offering assistance, military security technicians and an entire cruiser and support squadron."

"That is a problem." The Headmistress slumps into her chair. "Fuck, what am I supposed to do Azul?"

"Accept it," He raises both hands holding up the cane, "Hear me out, something is going on, tell him we do not need the cruiser, but we will happily take the security and technicians. But request he sends his cadets rather than the much more needed frontline troops and insist that he makes sure they have dust ammunition available. Then you are agreeing while still not putting to much at risk and maybe the lack of age difference will make the students feel safer that older soldiers."

Imerta slams her head into the table, "Fuck me, put something together and I will sign it."
