Millennia of evil including what he inherited from his parents." Charlotte
"Alright, the Valar bless you in your labours Charlotte of Lorien." Tauriel
Charlotte nods to Tauriel, and Bilbo returns just as they finish talking. Bilbo hands Charlotte the canteen, she puts it back in place, and then Charlotte walks down the stairs leading to where Thorin is hold up. Charlotte is standing on a platform over looking a huge cavern full of gold, and uncorks her canteens before walking down the stairs. As Charlotte approaches Thorin she sees him wandering around in the massive hoard of gold saying.
"Gold, gold beyond measure, beyond sorrow, and grief." Thorin
By the time Thorin has finished saying this Charlotte is right in front of him. Charlotte does not even wait for him to look at her before she starts healing him, and while she does this the Dragon Sickness presents itself in the same manner as Smaug's evil did. As predicted it doesn't take much energy to remove every trace of sickness from Thorin, and after that is done Charlotte removes the water from his person. Charlotte steps far enough away from him for him to see what had taken a hold of him. He looks at her, and says.
"Miss Charlotte you're here. Did everything go alright with the Dragon?" Thorin
"Yes thank you for asking. Although I must say that was the most exhausting thing I have ever done." Charlotte
"I'll bet killing a Dragon could not have been easy." Thorin
"Killing? Who said anything about killing Smaug?" Charlotte
"If you didn't kill him; What did you do?" Thorin
"I purged him of all his evil just like I cleansed you of the sickness afflicting you." Charlotte
"After all he has done he doesn't deserve such a fate as that." Thorin
"Deserve! Ha, no one ever deserves redemption do they Thorin?" Charlotte
Thorin becomes ashamed of how he treated his friends while under the influence of the sickness, looks around, sees what Charlotte is holding in her hand, and says.
"What's that?" Thorin
"This is water containing the sickness that was afflicting your mind." Charlotte
"What are you going to do with it?" Thorin
"Destroy it, but I wanted to wait until you could watch thinking that it could give you some closure." Charlotte
Thorin smiles, and looks at the water ball with eager anticipation. The water ball begins turning blue before his very eyes, and before long Thorin watches as the last of the darkness disappears from the water. As soon as the sickness is all gone the water returns to normal lacking any glow whatsoever. Thorin breaths a sigh of relief glad that it is finally over.
Charlotte returns the water to her canteens, and says.
"Why don't we get out of here so you can greet your daughter and nephews?" Charlotte
"Yes let's. I'm sick of being in this place." Thorin
Charlotte and Thorin leave the treasury, and Charlotte leads him to where she left the others. When they get there Thorin greets his daughter and nephews who are very glad that he is his normal self. Thorin smiles at his daughter and nephews, but when he sees Tauriel he gets the same look on his face that he gives every elf other than Charlotte. Kílí sees this, and steps defensively in front of his love. Thorin sees this, and says.
"Who is this elf who has entered the halls of our fathers Kílí?" Thorin
"This is Tauriel my One." Kílí
Thorin is about to explode when he remembers how he shamefully threw his nephew away by leaving him to die, and thinks better of it deciding to reserve judgment on the elf until he has had a chance to take her measure. Thorin nods at Kílí, and says.
"Fine since your heart is taking such an unusual path you are responsible for her, and when the time comes you will be the one to explain to your mother why you are marrying an elf." Thorin
"I understand. You won't regret this uncle." Kílí
"We shall see." Thorin
Bilbo then leads them to the room the Dwarves are currently occupying, and when they get there the Dwarves are happy to see them all including a now healthy Thorin. Thorin asks Bombur to prepare a feast to celebrate the reclamation of their home, and Bombur agrees with a smile on his face as he gets about working in the kitchens. Thorin sets everyone else to searching out proper living quarters for them to live in instead of sleeping on bedrolls in this little room. It takes awhile, but they are able to find sixteen intact apartments, and everyone picks out the one which will suit them best. By the time they have settled in it is time for the feast, and everybody goes to the room where they were previously living to find a fine meal spread out before them. After the feast everyone goes to bed, and the next morning before breakfast Faron takes Charlotte aside, and says.
"I had a vision warning me about what is going to happen to my brothers as well as my Father, and I have a feeling that I won't be able to do anything to stop it." Faron
"Is their Fate bad?" Charlotte
"Heart Breakingly so." Faron
Charlotte thinks about her friends problem, and says.
"Is there anything that can be done to make their Fate less tragic?" Charlotte
Faron thinks seriously about what Charlotte has said, and comes up with the perfect way to do just that, and says to her friend.
"I know what needs to happen, but I need you to tell me about elvish courtship customs." Faron
"The suitor presents the elleth with a silver ring that is one of a pair that he received from the elleths Father, and the couple will spend a minimum of a year courting before they marry." Charlotte
"Dwarrow courtship customs are similar except more so for members of the Royal Family, but I was thinking of asking Father to expedite it using The War Time Exemption." Faron
"What is The War Time Exemption?" Charlotte
"The War Time Exemption allows the couple to skip courtship completely, and marry immediately so that the female will be entitled to the Dwarrow's possessions should he die in the battle for which the exemption was used." Faron
"Alright, but you will have to time it right for your plan to work." Charlotte
"Do not worry timing will not be a problem." Faron
"Good. Now we better go find the company before someone comes looking." Charlotte
"Charlotte could you do something for me?Could you tell Fili my plan, but make sure he knows that timing is critical for the plan to work?" Faron
"I can do that. Now let's go find the rest of the company." Charlotte
Faron nods, and the friends leave the room to find something to do to help.
As Thorin is walking through the halls of Erebor assessing the damage Dwalin comes up to him, and says.
"Thorin. Survivors from Lake Town they're streaming into Dale. There's hundreds of them." Dwalin
"Bring Bard to me I'd like to speak with him." Thorin
"I'll go right away." Dwalin
"Thorin what are you going to do?" Bilbo
"I'm going to show that Dwarves can be just as compassionate as anybody." Thorin
"So you're going to help the Lake Men?" Bilbo
"Yes Master Baggins I will." Thorin
"Good. That's very good. How can I help?" Bilbo
"I want you to see if you can find the pantry, and see if there is anything edible that we can give them while I go to the treasury, and divide out a small portion of the treasure to cover the cost of restoring Dale." Thorin
"Alright then let's get to it." Bilbo
Bilbo then scampers off to do as Thorin instructed before he even had a chance to respond. By the time Dwalin returns with Bard all of the provisions have been readied as Thorin ordered. As Bard walks through the door Thorin walks up to him, and says.
"Bard we saw what happened with the Dragon, and have put together what provisions that we can spare. It's not much, but I hope that it will help alleviate the suffering of your people." Thorin
Bard looks at the bags of beans, rice, and flour, and says.
"This will help the entire town through the winter perhaps with some to spare. This means a lot thank you." Bard
"It's my pleasure to assist you. I have also divided out a small share of the treasure to be used to restore Dale into a good home for your people." Thorin
"Your kindness is great King Under the Mountain, and we'll not forget it." Bard
Thorin nods, and the company follows Bard out the door with carts in tow being very careful of the debris on the floor.
The Dwarves have returned from making their delivery to Dale when the watch reports that an army of elves has just arrived in Dale, and they are glad of it because it will mean more help for the Men of Dale. Back in Dale Thranduil does indeed give aid to the Men of Dale, but his primary reason for being there is to retrieve the white gems of Lasgalen. Bard hears of this, and says to Thranduil.
"You would go to war over a handful of gems." Bard
"The heirlooms of my people are not lightly forsaken." Thranduil
"Let me speak with Thorin." Bard
"You would try to reason with the Dwarf?" Thranduil
"To avoid war yes." Bard
Bard rides through the gates of Erebor, and asks to speak with Thorin. Fílí leaves the room to get Thorin who is currently helping clean up the Mountain just like they have cleaned up the front gate. When Thorin gets there he sees the distress on Bards face, and says.
"What is wrong?" Thorin
"Thranduil is prepared to go to war if you don't give him what he wants, and I came to warn you." Bard
"Thank you for the warning Bard." Thorin
"What does he want in exchange for peace uncle?" Fílí
"Thranduil wants the White Gems of Lasgalen, and when he first asked me for them I wasn't planing on giving them to him, but to restore the honour of our people I will give him the necklace. Gloin take Fílí, and fetch the White Gems of Lasgalen. Bard please tell Thranduil that I wish to speak with him, and that he is to come here in person, and if he must he may bring a handful of guards no more." Thorin
"I will." Bard
With that said Bard leaves the way he came, and when he is gone Thorin turns to Kílí, and says.
"Kílí since your elf has shown herself to be honourable so far I don't want to risk anything happening to her when Thranduil gets here. Kílí take Tauriel deep into the mountain, and I'll send Fílí to get you when Thranduil has left." Thorin
"Yes Thorin. Uncle can I use some of the materials from the treasury to craft the betrothal bead?" Kílí
"You may. Now do as I say we don't have much time." Thorin
"Yes uncle. Come Tauriel we must go." Kílí
Tauriel nods, and follows after Kíli.
Kílí has taken Tauriel deep into the mountain to the mine where they mine starlight gems, and he leaves having found several small starlight gems that he is going to use in her marriage bead, but for the betrothal bead he plans to use gold and emeralds from the treasury. While Kílí is going to get the materials he needs for both beads making sure that they are in separate pouches Charlotte is in the entrance hall waiting for Thranduil to get there, and when he is just about there Charlotte cloaks herself before he has a chance to see her. The Dwarves are puzzled why she would do this, but they figure that she will tell them when the negotiations are over. Thranduil arrives, looks around the room, and is surprised to find that the Dwarves are a lot less hostile than he expected them to be. Thranduil dismounts his elk, walks up to Thorin, and says.
"Bard said you wanted to speak with me." Thranduil
"While I have not, and will never forgive you for your lack of compassion toward my people as a King I recognize the need for peace with our neighbours. So I will give you the goods that you purchased from my grandfather that he unjustly withheld from you." Thorin
Thorin motions Fílí to come forward with the jewellers box which he does, and when he gets there Fílí gives the box to Thranduil. After peace has been assured Thranduil is about to leave when Bard and Gandalf ride through the gate, and Gandalf looks deeply troubled. The three Kings along with the heirs to two of the Kingdoms sit down in a meeting room. Fili makes sure that Faron is at the meeting as well, and Gandalf says.
"War is coming, and we must all begin preparing immediately." Gandalf
"What are you talking about Gandalf?" Thorin
"After I went to the High Fells of Rhudour at the request of Lady Galadriel I found that all Nine of the tombs in the mountains are empty, and as we all know the Nazgul answer to only one Master. Radagast convinced me that it was of the utmost importance that I find out exactly what is in Dol Guldur, and it's a good thing to because I discovered that Sauron is inhabiting that fortress. His mind has become fixated on Erebor, because it is a strategic location. Should he capture the mountain he will restore the Kingdom of Angmar, and this must never be allowed to happen." Gandalf
"Sauron will never take our home from us now that it has been reclaimed. What happened next Gandalf?" Thorin
"The White Council banished Sauron from Dol Guldur, but before they did I saw Rank upon Rank of Moria Orcs preparing for war. Azog the Defiler is leading their march on the Mountain." Gandalf
"Azog! It is high time he paid for all the people he killed members of my family included." Thorin
"My Lord Thranduil will you help us defeat this fearsome foe?" Bard
"I think it is high time we show the enemy exactly how fearsome an alliance between Dwarves, Men, and Elves can be." Thranduil
"Excellent. We must begin preparing immediately. I'll send a letter to my cousin in the Iron Hills asking for his help defending the Mountain. Fílí go see if your brother is finished with his project, and if he is bring him and his fiance here immediately." Thorin
"Yes uncle." Fílí
Fílí runs off to do as Thorin says since there is very little time to prepare for the trouble that is coming their way.
Fílí returns with Kílí and Tauriel in tow, and to save time Fílí filled them in on the situation on their way there. They walk up to Thorin, and Fílí says.
"I have brought Kílí and Tauriel just like you asked, and to save time I filled them in on the situation on the way here." Fílí
"Very good. Tauriel Dwalin will evaluate your skills in the sporting area, and then Kílí and Fílí will join you as soon as they have been armed for war." Thorin
"I understand." Tauriel
"Father before we do anything else can we use The War Time Exemption for Kili and Tauriel's relationship?" Faron
"Faron you know what this entails correct?" Thorin
"Yes Father." Faron
"Very well. Tauriel you will go with Dwalin as instructed. I will speak with Kili and Balin, and then when all the arrangements have been made Faron will come get you." Thorin
Tauriel follows Dwalin out the door, and Bard says.
"My people are peaceful. We have few weapons, and only minimal training. We are not prepared to
