A/N (pt1) Yo. First, I want to say thank you for the support and reviews of the first chapter. It really made me happy, so happy I was almost about to quite school to become a full-time writer... Nah, just playing. But honestly, thank you. Secondly thank you for reading chapter 2. I hope this chapter lives up to the bar the first one set. Also, sorry this took so long for me to release. I wanted to release it on Wednesday, but yeah. That didn't happen. Soooo, here is chapter 2, hope you enjoy. (I don't own the loud house or any of its characters, all rights belong to Nickelodeon and Chris Savino)
Chapter 2:
How is he?
We find the three oldest Loud sisters standing over their 5th, sister yelling in her face. "Like literally, how could you do something so stupid Lynn!" screamed Lori.
Followed by Luna yelling, "Are there any actual brains in that muscle-built head of yours, you wanker!"
"I told you millions of times! I was being careful! He was hitting me just as hard as I was hitting him! You should have seen him," Lynn screamed back.
"I find it hard to believe that Landon could ever fight you at your level," Leni stated, "He couldn't even kill that roach."
Rita, the matriarch of the Loud family, corrected her daughter, "Leni, honey, your brother's name is Lincoln. But Leni does have a point, Lynn. It's very hard to believe your brother could make you use that level of force."
"Then how can you explain this?" Lynn was now hold her arm up, referring to the fact that she was currently hooked up to an IV machine.
Currently there are six members of the Loud family in the hospital: the oldest child, Lori; the dim, but lovable Leni; the rocker of the family, Luna; and their mother, Rita. The other two, Lynn and Lincoln, were currently in the hospital beds. Lynn had a cast on her right leg and arm and was currently high off 1,000 milligrams of pain killers.
"Yeah Lynn, but literally look at Lincoln," Lori responded. She pulled back the curtains on the hospital bed next to them. Revealing Lincoln laying in the bed.
Compared to Lincoln, Lynn got off easy. His whole face was currently wrapped in bandages, he had on a full body cast, and was currently unconscious.
"I still can't believe it. The doctor says my baby might not wake up. Even if he does, he might not even be able to walk properly," Rita cried out.
"It's not fucking fair. Because that bloody idiot keeps dragging him into her crazy antics, Lincoln keeps having to suffer," Luna spoke with a hint of venom in her voice.
"I know, alright. I know. But you got to believe me. I did go overboard, but it was only because he was fighting on my level. I should have known he wouldn't be able to keep that same pace for long."
"Now you are blaming him!"
"No, I am not, I am being serious. Out of nowhere it's like all the strength left his body. He didn't try dodging anymore and he wasn't trying to fight."
Lori joined the argument between her sisters, "Maybe because he literally didn't want to, or maybe he couldn't. Either way, that's when you should have stopped too."
"That's the thing, he was mid movement. He stepped into my guard like he was going to do something! Then next thing you know my foot was in his face!"
With every word Lynn said, Luna just got angrier. Lincoln and Luna had always been close; when she saw her younger brother in that state, she felt as if she herself was the one on the bed. She felt terrible. The very sight of Lynn wasn't helping either. She took one more look at Lincoln, she looked back at Lynn, then she snaped. She lunged at Lynn, reaching for her neck. It took both her sisters to hold her back.
"I can't believe you! All you do is make excuses. Look at him!" Luna yelled out.
Before Lynn could speak again, the unmistakable sound of a young girl's lisp was heard from the door.
"I assure you, third elder sibling; Lynn is not making any excuses," Lisa said, making her presence known.
Before Lisa could explain her previous statement, the rest of the Loud family appeared.
"How is he, how is my son?!" Lynn Sr. called out slightly pushing past his young daughter.
"Doc says he might not wake up pops. Even if he does, the doctor says he probably won't be able to live the same," Luna whispered. As if she were to say the words out loud, they might become true.
Lynn Sr. looked at his daughter with his name's sake not with anger or disgust, but with disappointment, "How could you Lynn, how could you? You were supposed to protect him." At this point Lynn Sr. was in full blown tears. It's never nice to see a grown man cry, especially when the reason they are crying is because someone close to them is hurt.
Very soon the whole room was filled with the sound of young children crying.
"Linky!" The twins, Lola, and Lana, were crying over their older brother, speaking in perfect unison. Well, as perfect as perfect could get in between the sobs and sniffling. "Please wake up…. Don't die…. Wake up!"
"You still… Need to coach me..."
"You said we would… Go play in the mud together…"
While the twins continued to cry, Luan was handling her pain in the only way she knew how. "Well, that's a shock. I guess we don't need to get the defibrillator… Ah, ah, I once heard a joke about amnesia, but I forgot how it goes. Ah, ah, how about…"
Luan's corny jokes were interrupted by the wailing of the youngest Loud sister. "Waah, waah, Linky!" Lily's cries filled the whole hospital. If everyone wasn't focused on saving their eardrums, they would be crying themselves at the sight of the child.
The sound of a monotone voice coming from Lincoln's bedside silenced Lilly's cries and brought all eyes on her. "This is your fault, Lynn. Because of you our beloved brother might not wake up again," Lucy said with a hint of emotion.
"Like I keep saying, there was no helping it! I am sorry, I really am. But none of you were there."
In a very uncharacteristic moment of anger Lucy screamed back with all her heart. "Excuses! You did this to him! I hate you! I hate you! I. HATE. YOU!" She lunged at Lynn, making a fist, and swung it in her direction. Since everyone was still stunned, by the fact Lucy could actually show emotion, much less that emotion be anger, no one was able to stop her. She landed a clean hit on Lynn's jaw, knocking her out of the bed, and making her land on her bad arm.
"Ahhh, damn it Luce!"
"You deserve worse!"
"Watch your mouth Lynn," Rita rushed over to her injured child. After making sure she was ok, she looked back over to her daughter who was being held back by the rest of the family. "You too young lady. That was uncalled for. Even if your sister may deserve it."
Both daughters yelled out, "but mom! She... She..."
"Shut it! I don't want to hear another word from either of you. We don't need any more of you in this Hospital, and Lynn doesn't need to be here any longer than she needs to. Am I understood?"
"Yes ma'am," once again both girls spoke in unison, both looking at the floor with a sense of shame.
Once Lynn Sr. made sure his gothic daughter had calmed down, he spoke up, "They both make a good point honey. I can't see a situation, when this much force would be necessary. But then again look at Lynn, she is in here too. We really don't know what happened. They both could have been hit by a car for all we know."
"Well, that's not true, father unit." Everyone in the room looked towards Lisa. Once she made sure she had everyone's attention she continued speaking, "Like I was trying to say earlier, we can actually see what happened."
Simultaneously, every other family member in the room responded, "How!?"
"Calm down. I was just about to tell you all. Using this electronic device that captures light rays then converts them into a motion picture, we can view the events that led up to this tragedy."
In her usual cute voice, Lilly titled her head and said what everyone was thinking, "Wa?" Okay, maybe not exactly what everyone thinking.
"Street name: video recorder."
"Ohhh," the whole family replied and slapped their faces.
Luna was the first to realize exactly what her little sister said. "Wait, how many of these do you still have? Thought we told you to get rid of all of these."
Lisa's eye darted back and forth, as if she was searching for a suitable answer on some teleprompter in the room. "And I did, I only left this one up, in fear of any unwanted criminals, trying to break into our domain." They weren't buying it. "None the less this will shed light on our dilemma, and we will be able to determine if Lynn was in the right. I was able to review the footage briefly but couldn't see the fight in its entirety. From what I witnessed; our singular male sibling was appearing to holding own against Lynn."
As Lisa pulled out her tablet from her dimensional pocket, the rest of the family gathered around her. Lynn chose to not follow suit and stayed where she was. She did not feel like reliving the fight. And she was right to do so. The family watched in horror as the two siblings appeared to be trying to rip each other apart. It was a gruesome video, and it only got worse. Because of the position of the camera, it was easy to see just how much damage Lynn was doing to Lincoln. At the same time, the damage Lincoln was doing to his sister was on full display also. Blood from both children covered the yard, each one's fist looked like they were going to fall off, and the disgusting sound of bloody flesh on flesh contact filled the room. Then came the unfortunate climax. The family watched as Lincoln practically stepped into Lynn's kick. They watched the kick make contact, and watched it led his face toward the ground. Thanks to Lisa's high-quality equipment, they were able to hear his body actually hit the ground. What came next was probably the most heart clenching part, it wasn't exactly because of the blow Lincoln took, but of because of Lynn's reaction to it. They watched as she rushed over to her brother, crying her eyes out and begging him to stay alive. All doubts of if Lynn was truly sorry were thrown out the window.
Lucy looked up towards her older sister who she had just punched. Oh Lynn, I am so sorry.
Sadly, the worst was yet to come, and Lynn knew what was next. She placed her hands over her ears in hopes she could tune it out. It looked as if she was about to throw up. Once again thanks to Lisa's extremely high-quality technology, the family was able to hear Lincoln's laugh as if the boy himself woke up and started laughing right behind them. It felt as if the temperature in the room dropped to negative. It felt like a dark presence was emanating from the tablet.
Lincoln's dark laugh carried throughout the room. It shook everyone to their core with fear. Lisa dropped her tablet in shock, causing it to shatter. The video somehow ended up zooming in on Lincoln's face. Leaving the tablet stuck on the terrifying sight of his bloody face, spread out across all the cracks.
The family looked towards the sole male member of their family, under the age of 18, and all they could hear was the echoing of that terrible laugh.
It's dark. Cold. I can't breathe. I think I am drowning. I can't feel anything. Am I dead? Lincoln attempted to move his body, but nothing was responding. So, let's just say I am dead. I guess Luce was right. It's just darkness. I can't feel anything, much less do anything. Then why am I so calm? No, I am not calm, I feel empty. Wait how did I even get here again?
As if on cue, his memories of the past few hours hit him like a ton of bricks. Giving him a mean headache, one that would make any drunk rethink if hangovers were worth drinking the liquid poison. Right, Lynn. Memories of their fight flashed through Lincoln's mind. The weird thing was he didn't have to visualize them like he would normally, when he was "alive". The fight was on full display in front of him as if he was at theaters. She dragged me into sparring with her again. With every punch and kick that flashed before him, Lincoln became angrier and angrier. Aggh, it's the same shit with her! I am doing something I want, and the next thing you know I am getting my ass kicked all around the back yard! It's not just her, but all of them! Lincoln this, Lincoln that! And look where that got me! I'm fucking dead!
For the first time since Lincoln was in this dark place, he was finally able to feel something. What he felt boiling inside of him was anger. But he wasn't just getting angry anymore. He was going into a full-blown rage. As the fight continued the dark voice form before started to speak from behind Lincoln. "Yes. That's it, give in to it. Feel the rage burn your throat. Let your mind split and throw all manner of sense to the dogs! Give in, give up, and let me deal with them for you!"
Even though Lincoln swore he never wanted anything to do with the evil voice in his head, he felt himself giving in. He wanted to give up, let his dark emotions run wild. He was about to give the voice his all and give up on whatever afterlife this was. Just as he was about to give in, his memory got to the part were Lynn just finished her kick. "You see Lincoln, she sent you here. She's at fault." Just then the view from Lincoln's memories we're flipped over and suddenly he was facing the sun. And was the sun was crying? What Lincoln thought was the sun was actually his older sister crying over him. Not only did the sight and knowledge that one of his sisters was crying because of him calm him down, but it also made him feel upset.
"Lynn?"
"I am sorry Lincoln, please wake up, I am so sorry. I didn't mean to! Please!"
"That's right. She didn't mean too."
"No, you idiot," the voice roared, "She's lying! She is only trying to save her own skin!"
Not longer after watching Lynn cry for a few seconds, the video stopped, and left Lincoln looking at the frozen picture of his sister. After witnessing that scene Lincoln was able to fully calm down. He was also finally able to move his body, and when he turned around to face the voice, his blood grew even colder than it already was. Behind him, to him at least, was the very definition of darkness. He couldn't make out any actual features, but he knew deep down that that thing was alive. Even if that feeling came from the very pits of his body. It moved as if it was made of fire. But the darkness was so thick… so thick that he was unable to see any actual movement. Either way the very sight of this thing absorbed his whole being, as if it was staring into his very soul. While at the same time, it felt so familiar. Even though it felt familiar, Lincoln wanted nothing to do with it.
In the world outside, we are brought to scene of the Loud family all in a full-blown panic. Lincoln's condition suddenly took a turn for the worst. The awful sound of the medical equipment were all on full blast. The twins were screaming their heads off, and clinging onto one another for dear life, "What do we do!? What do we do!?"
The rest of the family were in similar conditions. Both Rita and Lynn sr. had tears in their eyes and were trying to calm Lilly down. Lynn was still on her bed covering her ears rocking back and forth. She still had not recovered from hearing Lincoln's laugh for a second time, and current events were not making her situation any better. Lucy was standing over her brother, clutching his hand as if she were to let go, he would die right then and there. Leni, Luna, and Luan were trying to calm their siblings in any way they could. Whilst trying to keep themselves form breaking down.
Lori was standing with Lisa, who was digging through her dimensional pocket in hopes of finding something that would make her brother better. While Lori was trying to be helpful, all she was doing was stressing the young genius out.
"Like Literally Lisa, hurry up! He's literally having a heart attack!"
"I am aware of that eldest sibling. And that is not a heart attack, he is going into cardiac arrest. Either way raising your voice is not helping me! Gosh darn it, curse my surprising lack of organizational skills." While Lisa may be a genius, a prodigy with the potential to change the very world as we know it, she is still just 5 years old little girl. She may have seemed calm on the outside, but internally she is freaking out.
Ohh where is it. Please allow me to find something to help my brother. Why did this have to happen now. As Lisa continued to search for an invention that could bring her brother back from death's clutches, she pondered what could have brought on this recent fit. What could it have been? He was stable just a few movements ago. Did effects form that kick cause this? No, it would have happened sooner. The atmosphere, the sudden increases in bodies cause his body stress, the temperature? Just what could it be? What happened!? Then it clicked, Lisa thought back to the moment her brother first when into cardiac arrest. We had just finished watching the recording of the fisticuffs. Brother's horrid laugh played, I drop the mobile electronic device, and then…And then…Great Scott, that's when it happened.
Lisa remembered the moment when she dropped the tablet.
CRACK! The family was still looking at Lincoln, so they hardly noticed the tablet was still on. Suddenly the video started playing again. Unfortunately, it started playing at the moment when Lincoln started Laughing. It would run for a few seconds, then restart from that point again. With each rewind the laugh got more and more distorted. It would continue repeatedly as if it was directly mocking the family.
After the 10th rewind Lola couldn't take it anymore, she ran towards the tablet, and proceeded to stomp on it repeatedly. Lily was sat by her brother as the rest of the family went to go clam Lola down. It took the full force of every able body to calm her down. In the midst of all the commotion, Lily was the first one to noticed Lincoln's condition getting worse. He was showing obvious signs of discomfort, he was sweating bullets, and his breathing was labored. Then suddenly he stopped, as if someone flicked his off switch.
"Wincoln?" Lilly asked, hoping for her big brother to wake up and answer her. Somehow Lily's voice was able to distract the family long enough to focus on the brother and sister. Because of this they got front row seats to what happened next. All. Hell. Broke. Loose.
The health monitors all start going off all at once. The dreaded beeping that indicated the body was going into shock filled the room. Just as suddenly as Lincoln's body stopped moving, he started having a violent seizure. His head was moving uncontrollably, and he was gagging as if he was trying desperately to breathe.
That brings us back to now, where the Loud family are still in a panic at the sight of their only brother/son being on the verge of death. Was Lincoln's reaction brought upon because he listened to the distorted recording? Lisa thought to herself. But that is illogical. If that was true, then that would mean… Lisa was brought out of her thoughts by the appearance of 2 people in lab coats walking in.
A/N (pt2) Quickly wanted to say sorry for the cliff hanger. The second half of chapter 2 is the first half of chapter 3. Chapter 2 felt too short and weak, while chapter 3 felt too long. So, problem solved, at the cost of a cliffhanger. Couldn't say this in (pt1) or else it would have been a minor spoiler. Welp, hoped you enjoyed this chapter. Bye.
A/N (pt3) Something was wrong on my side when I tried posting this chapter. I posted it on Monday, but it still wasn't showing up. So, I had to delete it a few times. If you are wondering why the chapter was uploaded so many times, this is why. Bye for real now.
