Hey everyone it is time for another chapter of Latios and Emily. Yeah, it has been a while but I have gone through a lot of crap in my life. I actually started writing this sometime in October or November and re-wrote the beginning of this chapter like 3 times. Then my mother passed away in December. And now we have Covid-19 kicking around, so life has not been great.
I just hope this chapter can help cheer people up. It's a bit more heartwarming than previous ones.
But anyway last time we got a flashback to when Serena became Neo Queen Serenity. And now we are going to focus on the present. Not gonna keep you all any longer, so let's get to the chapter.
Disclaimer: I do not own Pokemon or Sailor Moon but all OCs belong to me!
(Ace)
Ace hated feeling useless. Yet that's exactly what he was. He had even mentally made a list of all the times he had been useless in both the past and the present.
1. He had been useless to help Mina and her friends fight the evils after Queen Beryl and Queen Metalia.
2. He had been useless when the being they had called Death Phantom attacked the city.
3. He and his curse had been useless when Charles Green came into the picture and planted his seed that had in turn, given life to the one other person he cared about more than life itself.
4. He had been useless while Emily was growing up and getting attacked by those sent down by the Dark Nebula.
5. He had been useless to stop Emily from being taken.
Now, he was completely and utterly useless to help soothe Mina's broken heart. He couldn't hold her, he couldn't wipe away her tears, he couldn't even whisper that everything would be okay to her. No, all Ace could do was watch as his love cried and wept over the child she loved more than life itself.
It was at this time that Ace wondered if, for the umpteenth time, the fates caused this as a way to punish him for the curse he had placed upon Mina. The curse in question, if he was being honest with himself, had been his selfish attempt to keep other guy's hands off of his Mina. But he had also done so to help her focus on her duty, her destiny. Now though he would do anything to remove it from both her and her daughter.
Ace hadn't known the curse would be passed down to Emily, if he had known he wouldn't have done it. Then again he had never predicted the existence of Emily. He hadn't thought to predict the consequences of his actions if Mina were to have a child. But he should have. After all, two people don't need to be in love to create life. It was prefered but not always the case.
Charles Green he guessed was a good example. The neglectful businessman didn't deserve to even breathe the same air space as Mina let alone be the father of her child. Ace disliked the man a great deal. He had seen all the pain this man had caused, all the times he had made either Mina or Emily cry. Yet as much as he despised him, he couldn't deny that the man did care about Emily to a degree. Though Emily seemed to have that effect on a lot of people. There was just something about her, either her aura or personality or even possibly her heritage that made those around her care about her. She is a true Princess of Venus to radiate such feelings of love and to have them returned. She's so much like her mother.
"Speak of the devil...what the heck does he want?" Ace said mostly to himself since Mina couldn't hear him.
Ace supposed he had thought about Charles one too many times, because there he was walking up to the front door. The businessman looked...he didn't know how to describe it, he was in his usual attire, a crisp black suit but the tie was crooked and were those wrinkles in his suit? His dark sandy hair too looked a bit disheveled as if he had hastily combed it. If there was a word to describe Charles Green right now, Ace would say it was a wreck.
"Mina! Mina open this door!" Charles shouted as he banged on the door.
"...Milady? Shall I chase that scoundrel away?" Mina's butler, Jakob then asked. Ace really liked their butler. The man was in his 30s with hair the colour of silver that was tied into a male ponytail. It gave him a rather sophisticated look. His dark eyes could scare away whoever he pleased but he was always pleasant around Mina, Emily and their friends.
"...I'm afraid he would just come back, Jakob." Mina then tells her loyal servant before going to the door.
Even with her golden blonde hair full of knots, her red bow off kilter, her blue eyes bloodshot from crying so much, she still somehow looked breathtaking. Then again perhaps he was still just too lovesick over her. Mina was wearing simple sweats that weren't at all flattering but were obviously comfortable. Which is all she needed since she wasn't dressing to impress anyone right now. Not with her heart so broken.
Ace watched as she took a breath before opening the door for the man he absolutely despised. "What are you doing here Charles?"
"What am I doing here? That's all you have to say to me?" His voice was a mixture of rage and disbelief. "What am I doing here? I'll tell you what I am doing here! I am here to demand answers!"
"About what Charles? Can't you see I am not in the mood to be fighting with you right now?" Mina asked him, sounding rather exasperated but her voice was hoarse from her sobbing earlier.
"About the Police searching my house! Both here in Japan and in New York! Not to mention them questioning me about having possibly kidnapped my own daughter?!" Charles ranted. "Just what did you tell these people Mina?! And where is our daughter?!"
"I only told them what I know...I never told them you might be a suspect though if that's what you're accusing." Ace then heard Mina choke back a sob. "And I have no idea where Emily is..."
"Why did she run away? What happened Mina?" Ace noted that his tone was less harsh now, and less accusing. Perhaps he was capable of being decent around Mina.
"She didn't run away!" Mina then shouted in frustration. "Emily wouldn't do that! I know my daughter! She had to have been kidnapped! A-and I don't know what happened Charles! I wasn't here when it happened! I just got a call from the school one day telling me Emily hadn't been present! And if you were ever around you would know that, that isn't like her and I called all her friends and they told me they hadn't seen her since the day before..."
Ace reached out to her helplessly, Mina looked like she was on the verge of breaking down yet again. He knew it was useless since he couldn't touch her, but at the same time he just couldn't stand there and watch the woman he loved be in so much pain.
"...I will admit that you probably know our daughter better than me, but that doesn't mean you know everything about her." Charles then tried calmly. "She's a teenager. Teenagers don't tell their parents everything and tend to hide things. You can't say you never did that sort of thing when you were her age...I know you want to believe that Emily would never run away just because things got too stressful in her life but we have to face facts Mina. This isn't a kidnapping. There have been no ransom notes or threats directed toward you. If this was a kidnapping then Emily would be worth more alive than dead to them….I'm sorry Mina but you have to face reality, that she is a run away."
All Ace heard was loud smack as Mina gave Charles a hard slap across the face.
"Go." Mina then said in a rather broken and cold sounding tone.
"Mina...fine...but you're gonna have to face reality sooner or later." Charles then went back to his car and Ace continued to stay by Mina's side as she closed the door.
"Face reality he says….well the reality is, is that my daughter was transported to another world...a-and I have no idea if she is alive or dead…" Mina then muttered quietly to herself then proceeded to her daughter's room. She then sat on the bed and started to sob once more as she hugged her daughter's pillow.
It was a heartbreaking scene that Ace had seen more than once since Emily had been abducted. It's been little over a week and half since that beast had attacked her and sent her into that portal….and of course he had been unable to stop it. He also had been unable to follow her...he had tried but the portal had actually hurt him and pushed him out. So he too had no clue as to whether Emily was alive or dead. Though for Mina's sake he really hoped she was alive and well.
Ace then left the room and the house entirely as Artemis came in through Emily's window. He couldn't watch anymore and unlike him at least Artemis could provide her comfort. Ace then went to the park and sat under a cherry blossom tree and buried his face into his arms.
"I'm so pathetic...I claim to love Mina yet I can't do a single damn thing to help her. Being a spirit is the worst." Ace muttered to himself miserably. "If I were still alive I could have probably saved Emily and prevented all of this...I-I just wish I could have at least followed her...Emily must be scared out of her mind…"
Ace then looked up toward the sky and prayed. He didn't pray to anyone in particular, he just prayed for a way to help Mina and Emily in any way he could. Then out of nowhere a spectral portal made entirely of blue fire appeared before him and a boy a little older than Emily walked out of it. He had shoulder length black and white hair, his skin tone was lighter than the average human's but it wasn't really noticeable unless you were looking right at him. He had one eye that was as red as blood and another eye that was a soft blue colour. He wore a rather dressy red button up shirt and black plants. Something inside Ace was telling him to run, but he stayed put and just stared at the strange boy who bore powers that of which he had never seen before.
"You know it's rude to stare." The boy then said directly to him…..Wait the boy could see him?! Ace then proceeded to look around frantically to see if there was possibly anyone else there besides him, because this couldn't be possible.
"There's no one else here. Just you and me." The boy told him.
"Y-you mean you can actually see me?" Ace asked, still astonished.
"Yep and I can hear you and I can even make contact with you. It's all part of my powers." The boy answered. "So what's your name spirit?"
"...Which one? I've had three. I was Adonis on my home planet, then when I was reincarnated I was known as Danbruite. I then used the alias Ace to get close to...the one I have loved since I was a mere footsoldier …. I then forced her to kill me so I wouldn't have to kill her." Ace bowed his head and sighed sadly.
"Wow, you had a rough life...or lives I should say. Though I think I'll go with Ace, if that's okay with you. And you can call me Eclipse." The boy, Eclipse then said.
"It's the one I prefer in all honesty. Now what do you want with me Eclipse? Surely you didn't just appear before me for a nice friendly chat."
"Alright you got me, see the thing is I need your help Ace. I'm looking for a particular spirit. A very old one. One that has been roaming around since before the moon was attacked by the people of Earth."
"Why can't you find this spirit? You found me after all." Ace asked, now curious.
"Because I don't have all the time in the world to be looking for her, otherwise those who I work for will get suspicious and they don't know that I can see and talk to spirits. And I'd rather they not find out." Eclipse explained and that was when Ace noticed the dark infinity symbol on his buttons.
The Dark Infinity sign was the Dark Nebula's signature symbol, all their members had it on their person one way or another. And given this boy's supernatural powers, this only further confirmed he was not an ordinary human. It was probably no coincidence that this boy had found him, he must know of his connection to the Sailor Guardians. Why else would he seek him out and then act like he didn't know who he was? He had even picked the name Ace preferred to go by, as if knowing this in advance. Did this child think he could be so easily fooled?
"You're with the Dark Nebula…" Ace said as his gaze turned into that of a dark glare. "You're the ones who hurt Emily! You sent her away to who knows where! You have caused Mina unbelievable pain and grief, now you expect me to help you?! Forget it! I will not be made the bad guy again! I was forced to work for Queen Beryl and Queen Metalia and ordered to kill the one I love! I will not be forced to harm her or her daughter again! Now Begone! I will not help you!"
"W-whoa, whoa hold up, at least hear me out!" Eclipse then pleaded with him. "Yes technically I work for the Dark Nebula Empire but the one I really work for is actually on your side! Me and him are working to take them down from the inside!"
"And why in the galaxy should I believe you?" Ace then shouted at him. "You know what if you won't leave then I will. Go find another spirit to help you."
"Wait! Ace!" Eclipse shouted after him but Ace just kept walking. "I can help you find Emily Aino!"
That made Ace stop in his tracks and he looked over at the kid. He had asked for a way to help Mina and Emily, and it seemed Fate might be actually giving him a break for once. He still didn't trust that Eclipse was telling him the truth. But if he could help Emily and possibly even save her...he couldn't just throw away this opportunity. "Alright you got my attention. Now start explaining kid. And don't leave out a single detail."
(Emily)
Emily was actually surprised she had pulled it off. She honestly hadn't been sure if she would even make it out the door, let alone this far down the hall. Yet she did it. It was still early in the morning and Emily had managed to slip through the bars of her crib; The one time she was thankful for this serpentine body. Latios was still asleep thankfully and no one else was really moving around yet either.
After the events of her baby shower a few days ago, Emily was more than anxious to get away from here. It was obvious that no one here was gonna help her, so she would just have to help herself and find another way home. As well as a way to turn herself back to normal. But to do either of those things she needed to escape from her 'caretakers'. She was still rather upset with Latios and his sister. If she had just been able to explain things before Latios and Latias got into their heads, then maybe….just maybe….She cut herself off with a sigh. It was too late to be thinking about 'what ifs' what's done is done and now she had to focus on her escape.
I just might be able to pull this off without a hitch. Emily thought to herself as she slithered quietly but quickly. That is until she almost ran into someone. But she managed to stop just in time and hide in a room close to her position. She just hoped whoever this was had not seen her.
Her hopes were pretty much dashed when the legendary she had almost crashed into entered the room she had chosen to hide in. The legendary in question looked similar to a sabertooth tiger with some sort of purple cape on it's back and a tail made out of lightning and it was yellow. The tiger however looked too tired to pay her any mind or perhaps he just didn't see her as he entered the room. It looked like she would be home free that is until…
"Ah Raikou! There you are! Hurry up, the battle is about to begin brother!" Someone then said and this caused Emily to turn around, only to find that there were three legendaries in the room all together.
I could have not chosen a worse room to hide in. Emily then thought to herself as she took in her surroundings as well as the other two legendaries.
The room itself looked similar to a pub lounge. There was a counter where one could prepare food, a small fridge, a microwave, some cupboards, drawers and even an oven. There were also some tables and chairs where they could sit and eat and she thought she could see an outline for a pool table. There was also a wine wrack it seemed as well as a cooler to hold other kinds of alcohol. Even if she were human she doubted she would have been allowed in here without an adult with her. She was still only sixteen after all. She then turned her attention back to the other beings in the room.
The one that had spoken looked almost like...a lion? It was hard to tell but a lion was all that was coming to her mind when she looked at him. He had brown hair all over his body and it looked like he had a samurai mask on his face but Emily was sure that was not the case considering how unusual these legendaries tended to look to her. The lion like one also had metal cuffs on his legs as well as...were those rocks sticking out of his back? And a plume of smoke for a mane? (These legendary pokemon were about as strange looking as the entities she was used to fighting on a daily basis.) He was sitting on a couch that looked bigger than any couch she had ever seen, and she lived in a rather rich household so that was saying something.
The third legendary was in a huge leather arm chair, one that was again bigger than any she'd ever seen. This one looked more canine than the other two though and also kind of mystical. The legendary was blue and white with a purple flowing mane. It had a diamond shaped horn? Crown maybe? She would go with horn for now. And two ribbons which she assumed were its tail? This one was looking right at her.
"Brother? Who is your friend there?" The blue one then asked, and judging by the voice Emily could now tell it was a female.
"Friend?" The one known as Raikou questioned before he looked down at Emily. "Just where did you come from?"
Emily then attempted to flee only to be snatched up by the tiger-like legendary. And he had her in his mouth! Which was causing her to panic and freak out.
"Whoa! Hey! Raikou! Put her down!" The lion-like one then said. "You're scaring her! Do you want her to hurt herself on your teeth? Cause she will if she keeps squirming like that!"
Raikou then to her surprise did not eat her, and instead put her down on the couch in front of the lion-like legendary.
"What was I supposed to do? You saw her, she looked like she was about to run away from me." Raikou then explained.
"You could have blocked her path and told her we wouldn't harm her. Instead of putting her in your mouth and possibly making her think you were going to eat her!" The blue one then piped in glaring at her brother.
"What?! I wasn't going to eat her!" Raikou then exclaimed in what sounded like disgust, then added. "She'd probably taste terrible."
"Not funny Raikou!" The blue one then said with another glare.
"Ugh, brother….look I know you weren't going to eat her and Suicune knows you weren't going to eat her, but the little one obviously didn't know that!" The lion-like one explained before he gave Emily a nuzzle. "We're sorry about that young one, my brother here doesn't always think before he acts. I'm Entei by the way, the pretty looking blue one is my sister Suicune and you already met my brother Raikou. And you are?"
"..E-Emily…" She then answered still a little shook up from the events that had just transpired.
"Oh so you're Latios' daughter! Nice to finally meet you Emily." Suicune said, giving her a kind smile.
"Wait a sec, are you saying I just scared the crap out of Latios' daughter?!" Raikou exclaimed, now sounding terrified. And looked at Emily with big apologetic eyes with a pleading look to them. "I-I am so sorry! Please don't tell Latios I scared you! Please forgive me, young one!"
"I-I um it's okay I forgive you." Emily told him, surprised that the tiger-like legendary was so scared of Latios that he was actually begging her for forgiveness. "I won't tell him."
"Oh thank goodness…" Raikou then let out a breath in relief. "I thought I was a goner for a second."
"Is he really that scary?" Emily then questioned not realising she said so out loud.
"He can be but only when those he loves are in danger." Entei then answered her. "Though that begs the question… Why are you here and not with Latios? And what in the world is a young hatchling like you doing up so early?"
"I… Uh… Well why are you all up so early?" Emily then asked not willing to tell them that she had been trying to escape the Hall of Origin.
"We asked you first but… Well we got up early to watch a Pokemon battle." Suicune then said as she pointed toward a plasma screen T.V that had two humans on what looked like a football field in uniforms. Both of the humans were male, and both had darker skin. One wore a baseball cap on his head and his hair was a mixture of purple and blue, his eyes almost appeared to be the colour of gold, and he wore a red cape that was outlined in fur over his uniform. The other boy wore what looked like an orange beanie, his hair was short and dark from what she could see of it, the boy also appeared to resemble a dragon due to his attire and could be called attractive or hot. Or at least she would. She'd probably also say the same about the other one as well. The two boys then took out these two balls and let out some of the various Pokemon Latios had shown her pictures of. One was called Flygon, which looked like a giant mutated dragonfly and the other was…..was that a sword and shield? With spectral arms and an eye?! Okay Latios hadn't shown her that one yet. Still it kind of amazed her that those two Pokemon could fit into such tiny balls, the technology of this world was rather astounding and would have Jasmine dying to learn how it works. She really missed her brainiac friend now.
"It's being broadcasted live from a region known as Galar, which is in a different time zone from us, which is why we are up so early to watch it. We could wait till later to watch battles but Suicune insists that we get up at this ungodly hour to watch Leon whenever he has a match. Entei and I think it's because she has a crush on him." Raikou said as he took up a spot on the floor.
"Oh please! Don't be ridiculous! You know I'm still in love with Zamazenta!" Suicune responded. "And you two act as if you don't enjoy Leon's battles as much as I do but in reality you get just as pumped and excited as me when he wins."
"Personally I prefer Cynthia from the Sinnoh Region, she could probably kick Leon's butt in no time." Entei then challenged.
"Ha! Yeah right! Leon has been the Champion of Galar since he was 10 years old! And he hasn't been defeated once! No one can beat Leon and his Charizard!" Suicune exclaimed.
"Oh yeah? Well I know another legendary trainer who beat the League when he was 10 years old. Red. How much do you wanna bet that he and Pikachu could beat your precious Leon?" Raikou challenged with a smirk.
"I'm telling you it's impossible. No one can beat the unbeatable Champion!" Suicune then huffed. "Besides unless those two actually battle Leon for real then we can never know who would win."
"Suppose that's true." Entei said. Emily had to admit their little argument was amusing and it had gotten them off the topic of her, or so she thought. "Though getting back to the matter at hand...Don't think we forgot about you dodging the question cutie."
"Drat." Emily muttered.
"So again why are you not with Latios? And why are you up so early?" Entei then repeated his questions.
Emily didn't know how to answer either question without making them look at her like she was crazy. But she couldn't really think of a believable lie either at the moment. She blamed it on the fact that it was still too early in the morning and her adrenaline rush had long since ended.
"You gonna answer us or what kid?" Raikou then questioned her further.
"...Latios was still asleep and I uh...wanted to explore?" That was a lame lie but it was the best she could come up with. And wasn't all a lie. Latios was still asleep when she left and to be honest if she were human she would probably want to explore this place more by herself, even if exploring was definitely not her true intent this time around.
The three of them look at each other and then back at her as if wondering if they should call her out on her lie or let it go. After a few minutes of silence Suicune lets out sigh.
"You know what? Let's just let it go and enjoy Leon's battle, she's safe here with us and we can get her back to him when the battle is over. No harm done right?" Suicune then said to her brothers.
"Except if he wakes up and realises she isn't there. You just don't want to miss Leon's battle." Raikou said. "I myself don't want to incur Latios' wrath when he finds out we had his daughter the whole time and didn't tell him."
"Chill out Raikou it's still early and the battle is just getting good, look!" Entei then turned their attention back to the screen. On it, it looked as if a sandstorm was raging and now this Leon had a ginormous dragon with fiery wings that kind of looked like a pokemon known as Charizard, she remembered Latios showing it to her before. While the other male trainer had a giant skyscraper looking Pokemon now…. What? When did that happen? And how? "Your precious Leon might be in trouble now sis."
"No way! Raihan has never beaten Leon and he never will! Come on Leon show 'em what it means to be the unbeatable Champion!" Suicune then cheered.
"Oh come on you two we need to get her back home." Raikou then complains but Emily could tell he was interested in the battle now too.
"We will, when the battle is over just relax, I'm sure Latios hasn't even woken up yet. We'll get her back to him before he even has a chance to panic. I swear." Entei said before they all turned their attention back to the battle.
"How come their Pokemon are so big? And what is a Pokemon battle? Latios hasn't really covered that topic yet in the lessons he's been giving me." Emily then decided to ask after a while.
"A Pokemon battle is when two trainers or two people in general send out their pokemon to….well, do battle with one another. Humans nowadays view it as a sports competition to prove who is the best trainer in their region." Raikou then explained. "To do this each region has their own Pokemon League. The Pokemon League normally consists of 8 gym leaders, 4 elite four members and then a Champion. The Champion is considered the strongest trainer in the whole region and has to constantly prove they are the best and deserve their spot at the top. In Galar it's a little different since there is no Elite 4 like we have here in Kanto. So Leon here normally only has rematches with the gym leaders to prove he is number one."
"Raihan is normally the one who ends up challenging Leon the most out of all of them. He's easily the second strongest trainer in the Galar region and why he is the last gym leader you have to overcome to even be able to enter the Champion cup, which is what they call their league." Entei then continues for Raikou.
"And the reason why their Pokemon are so huge is because this is what's known as a Dynamax or Gigantimax battle!" Suicune explains in what sounded almost like a fangirl squeal. "Because of an event known as the Darkest Day, which was caused by...well okay he's kind of one of us….Eternatus was inside a meteorite that fell over twenty thousand years ago. And it is Eternatus' power that makes Dynamax possible. Anyway around the Galar region are places known as Power Spots where Dynamax is possible. The gyms were built on these power spots so the battles in Galar could be taken to the next level. The power spots are embedded with some of Eternatus' power and for some reason that power affects some pokemon differently than others and gives them Gigantimax forms like the ones you are seeing on Charizard and Duraludon there."
"Is this Eternatus here?" Emily then asks as she watches the Duraludon hit Charizard with some steel spikes that start to surge up from the ground.
"No…" Suicune answers. "It might be a little too complicated for you to understand but basically during the event known as the Darkest Day, Eternatus lost control of his power and pokemon started to Dynamax all over, two young heroes then joined forces with my love Zamazenta and his sister Zacian to stop Eternatus."
"...so he's dead?" Emily then questioned with a frown, that didn't seem fair.
"No, no Eternatus is still very much alive but asleep underneath the Galar region." Entei said before he nuzzled her. "Which is why his power courses through the region"
"And the other two?" She questioned.
"Asleep as well I am afraid." Suicune answered once more now sounding rather sad. Emily could tell this was due to heartache, she could also see that Suicune must love this Zamazenta a lot. "After Eternatus was no longer causing havoc and their chosen heroes were made kings the two went to rest within this place known as the Slumbering Weald so as to be nearby in case they were ever needed again."
Emily felt a wave of sympathy for Suicune, given this situation she knew exactly what it felt like to not be able to see the ones you love. "And you can't just go visit him?"
"And disturb his long earned rest?" Suicune questioned before sighing. "No I can't do that, the battle with Eternatus took a lot out of him and he deserves to rest and recover...besides we won't be apart forever, I'm sure of that. One day he and his sister will awaken and when that happens...I will see him again"
Suicune sounded so sure about this and Emily noticed she was even smiling now, as if she was picturing the day when she and Zamazenta would be reunited. She was glad she could cheer her up even if only for a little while.
Focusing her attention back to the battle Emily saw Leon turn his cap backwards before throwing off his cape. He looked rather fired up as did his Charizard.
"Okay, Charizard! Wrap this up! G-Max Wildfire!" Emily then heard the young handsome man say. And the camera then shifted to Raihan who also looked very raring to go.
"Oh no you don't! You won't win this time! Duraludon! Use G-Max Depletion!" Raihan shouted. And suddenly the two moves collided together on the screen each pokemon fighting for dominance and victory.
"Come on Charizard! You can do it!" Suicune then suddenly cheered.
"Wahoo! Aw man this is so intense!" She then heard Entei say behind her and felt him actually stand on the couch, as well sees his claws come out and dig into the couch. He was clearly really getting into this.
"Come on Raihan beat him this time so Sis will shut up about him!" Raikou said and Emily could tell he was also on the edge of his seat.
As Emily turned her attention back to the screen she could tell that Charizard was starting to overpower Duraludon, both trainers were cheering on their partners as well as screaming at the top of their lungs, as if that gave them more power. Then suddenly Charizard's fire power won the clash and consumed Duraludon, there was a brief explosion and it looked as if both Pokemon had shrunk back down to normal size. Charizard looked exhausted but he was still standing while Duraludon on the other hand was on its back and not moving.
"Duraludon is down! And Raihan has no more Pokemon able to battle! Meaning the winner of this championship match is still our reigning Champion Leon!" A Sports broadcaster announced as Leon did some kind of pose.
"Hahahahaha! YES! In your faces! He won again!" Suicune whooped and hollered as she did what looked like a victory dance.
"Ugh… She'll never shut up about him now" Raikou then whined
"Alright, alright sis you were right now keep it down before we get yelled at for being so loud this early in the morning." Entei then reasoned with her.
Emily could not help but giggle at their antics, these three weren't much different than her and her friends when they would just hang out with each other. To think that these three powerful beings could act like a bunch of teenagers, was truly amusing. But the humour of the situation didn't last long, now that the battle was over… they would be taking her back to Latios any minute now, and she didn't know how to stop them from doing so.
There was no way she could make a run for it without them catching her, and if she did they would start asking why she was trying to run away from Latios. She also couldn't refuse without those same questions making an appearance. And if she tried to explain why she wanted to leave... She was tired of them looking at her like she was crazy, tired of nobody believing her, and unfortunately she was afraid these three would do just that even if she were to tell them the truth. Just like everyone else.
So Emily would let them carry her and take her back to Latios' room without a fight, this attempt had failed, but she could always try again another day. And all the other times after that if others failed, because she would not give up. She would find a way out of here and then find another way home, one way or another she would do it. She had to.
(Latios)
Latios groaned as he heard a knock at the door. He did not know what time it was, he just knew he did not want to get up. But he knew that if he didn't get up and answer the door, that the knocking would wake Emily up. And he did not want to deal with a cranky Emily. Non-cranky Emily was already hard enough to deal with as it is.
So Latios begrudgingly got out of his nice, cozy warm bed and answered the door. Though as he did, he could not help but wonder who would be knocking on his door at this hour and why?
"Yes? Oh, Suicune, Raikou, Entei what are you doing here?" Latios questioned before he spotted something gold on Entei's back. " Emily?!"
Latios took his hatchling from them in shock. "Young Lady….what were you….when did you….?"
"Ah, Latios w-we uh just found her!" Raikou then said, and Latios could tell he sounded nervous for some reason. "Y-yeah we just found her, outside your room. Just now. Not earlier, nope! Certainly not when we were watching Pokemon battles-OWWW!"
Entei then promptly stepped on his brother's paw. "Ahem, ah what my brother means to say is, is that we are glad we were able to return her to you safe and sound before you started to worry too much."
Latios looked between the three Pokemon League fanatics then back to his daughter wondering which one of them he should be dealing with first. He made up his mind when he noticed that his daughter was being abnormally quiet. But he still eyed the three of them suspiciously, as if to tell them that they would be dealt with later.
"Well, thank you…. I wasn't even aware she was missing, we'll let you three get back to watching your battles." Latios then politely closed the door, before he turned his attention to Emily.
"How long Emily?" He asked her calmly but sternly. "How long were you out? And what in the world were you thinking, leaving your crib and our room like that? Huh? Do you have any idea how worried I would have been if I had woken up before those three got here and found an empty crib? Do you?"
Emily then rudely rolled her eyes at him. "No, I don't know how worried you would have been. As for how long I was out. Probably an hour and a half at most, maybe? It's not like I looked at a clock before I left!"
Latios' eye ticked in annoyance at her rudeness towards him. First she had left her crib and room while he was sleeping, and now she had the nerve to be rude to him?! Oh yes Latios was truly dreading her teenage years if dealing with her now as a hatchling was this bad.
He took a few calming breaths before he set Emily down in her crib with an exasperated sigh. "What am I going to do with you?"
"Obviously it wasn't entirely your fault, those three should have brought you back sooner. They probably just got caught up watching one of those League battles again." He said as he made up some applesauce for her, just because he was upset with her for being rude and hurt that she had possibly been trying to run away, didn't mean she should starve. He set the bowl in front of her before he continued. "I will deal with them in a moment, but for now you, Young Lady are hereby grounded until further notice."
Latios then heard Emily let out a sigh, as if she had been expecting this kind of punishment, which begged the question of why she did it if she knew she would be punished.
"Fine. Whatever." Emily told him in a 'I could care less' tone, before she began to eat. He would have to work on her attitude problem. He didn't know why she was being so rude but he was gonna put a stop to it.
"Young lady, if I were you I would watch your tone. You're already in trouble for your little stunt, do you really want to add more onto your punishment?" He questioned her. He was using that active imagination against her now. It was a trick he read about in that parenting book. A child's imagination is their greatest weapon but it could also be their biggest weakness. If he didn't say what more he would add to her punishment, her mind would make it up to be the worst thing she could imagine. This in turn would scare her into behaving. It sounded rather cruel to threaten a child, but it's not like he actually planned on hurting her or anything. He didn't even know what to add to her punishment, and besides what else was he supposed to do at this point? Let her continue being rude to him?
"...Sorry." He then heard Emily say quietly her head bowed and not looking at him. He guessed the trick had worked. And after a little mind reading Latios found out that she did in fact mean it.
What am I doing? Why am I being so rude to him? Yes I am still upset with him over what happened at the Baby Shower. But being rude to him isn't going to help me right now. And mom raised me better than that. And in my heart I know he doesn't deserve the way I have been treating him. Those were the thoughts he heard when he had read her mind, and while he was unsure of what he had done to upset her at the Baby shower, he was glad she had meant her apology. He then proceeded to kiss the top of her head before nuzzling her affectionately.
"Apology accepted, sweetie. Now you behave while I go have a talk with those three fanatics." He told her as he went to the door. Latios then paused and looked back to her. "I shouldn't be gone too long, so like I said, behave."
He then left the room locking it behind him before he flew down towards their game's room, this is where the three of them could normally be found. When he got there Latios couldn't help but overhear their conversation.
"Man, I seriously can't believe we got off scot-free!" He heard Raikou say. "I thought he was gonna blow his top off at us."
"As did I." He then heard Suicune add. "Especially since one of us was blurting everything out!"
"Same." Entei commented. "Do you not know what keeping your cool means brother?"
"I am not good under pressure!" Raikou then whined. "I thought you two would know that by now!"
Having heard enough Latios then cleared his throat before entering the room. This caused Suicune, and Entei to jump, and Raikou to hide behind the armchair that Suicune was currently sitting in.
"Ahh! Latios!" Raikou then let out a rather high pitched yowl. "If this is about me scaring your daughter, I am so SORRY! I honestly had no idea she would freak out so badly when I picked her up!"
Latios froze as he heard those words and he began to see a red haze cloud his vision. Raikou had scared Emily?! "What. Did. You. Do. To. My. Daughter?"
Entei and Suicune then got as far away as they could from their brother, as if to tell him that he was on his own and they were not going to help him.
Raikou visibly gulped before he spoke again. "We-well you uh...see...when we um found here in the Games' room...sh-she looked ready to bolt, so I-I grabbed her by the nape of her neck to stop her…..only wh-when I did she uh...started to panic and squirm….my brother and sister said it was probably because she-she thought I was going to eat her."
Latios saw the red haze all but obscure his vision as he felt his rage take over. But he tried to keep his tone calm and even.
"You know, I had originally come here to give you three a lecture, but now…" He paused for dramatic effect and almost grinned evilly as he saw them shift uncomfortably. "I am going to give you till the count of three to run."
"One."
He watched as Raikou got up and bolted out the door.
"Two"
He then followed after him and began to charge up a Draco Meteor.
"THREE!"
Latios then flew after him at full speed, firing Draco Meteors at the Sabertoothed thunder cat the whole way. All in all it took Latios a lot longer than he had predicted to deal with the three of them. After he had finished beating up Raikou, he then went back and lectured Suicune and Entei like he had planned. By the time he got back to his room almost 2 hours had gone by.
He had not meant to leave Emily alone for that long, it was a good thing he had given her food before he left, otherwise she would have been starving. He hoped she hadn't been too lonely or bored while he was gone.
He didn't hear her crying as he unlocked and opened the door, so that was a good sign, he supposed.
"Emily, I'm back. Sorry that took longer than…" Latios paused as he took in the sight.
Emily was curled up with her head on her pillow, her blanket was draped over her slightly and the sunshine coming in from the window was hitting her just right. She looked like a little angel sleeping like that.
The scene caused him to smile at her adoringly. He and Emily always somehow managed to get into some sort of fight one way or another. But it was moments like this when the fighting was over that he had come to enjoy the most. It almost made up for all the stuff this little angel put him through, if it meant he could see her like this. So peaceful and serene.
"Heh, well aren't you a cute little handful?" Latios then commented to himself quietly. All the excitement from her little 'adventure' must have tired her poor little body out.
Inspiration then suddenly hit him as he looked upon his sleeping child some more. He had the urge to capture this moment, but not with a camera, no he wanted to do something that he hadn't done in quite a long time. He wanted to paint a portrait of her.
Without another thought Latios went to his closet and pulled out his easel and paints, as well as a fresh canvas. He would have started painting right then and there except he discovered that he needed new paints. The ones he had in the closet were no good anymore, he guessed it had been a really long time since he had painted anything. Though once he secured new fresh jars of paint he immediately got to work on painting Emily. Thankfully the sun hadn't moved too much and was still hitting her nicely enough to set the mood he wanted to capture. Another thing to be thankful for was that Emily was still asleep. Painting a moving target was pretty much impossible, so her being asleep and not moving around so much was preferable, in fact her only movement was her gentle breathing at the moment.
Emily must have been pretty tired because she didn't wake up at all for the next hour or so as he worked. It was a little worrying but he had checked her for any signs of a fever and found nothing. He guessed her little stunt had tired her out more than he had realised. Still he would have to wake her soon for lunch, no matter how cute and peaceful she looked right now he couldn't just let her sleep the day away.
It took Latios another hour to finish his painting of Emily, and when he was done he smiled proudly at his work, he had managed to capture the scene he saw when he walked back in the door perfectly. Sure there was still more work to be done to it but for now this was good enough. And just in time too, it was past noon meaning it was time to wake Emily up.
He set his painting near the window to dry in the sun and was about to shake Emily awake when he noticed that his paws were covered in paint.
I guess I should wash up first, huh? Latios thought to himself as he went to the washroom. Letting Emily sleep a few more minutes wouldn't hurt after all.
(Emily)
Emily awoke to the sound of running water and her stomach growling. She wasn't quite certain when she had fallen asleep or how long she had slept, but when she opened her eyes she was still pretty out of it. She swore she was back home in her own room for a second when she saw the easel and jars of paint set out. And almost convinced herself that, all that had happened to her had just been one big horrible nightmare.
But the reality of her situation sunk in again. Perhaps a little bit too quickly for her liking, for as she looked around the room she saw the bars of her crib. And as she looked down upon herself she saw a serpentine tail, instead of human legs. This caused her sigh sadly to the point where she could feel tears in her eyes.
Her sadness only grew as she looked upon the art supplies. It wasn't fair, painting and art was a favourite past time of hers and now she couldn't even hold a paint brush. She wasn't even aware she had started to cry until she heard Latios' voice.
"Emily?" his voice sounded concerned and the next thing she knew he had picked her up and started to rock her back and forth. "Shh, shh, what's wrong sweetie? Did you have a nightmare?"
Emily sniffled as she got a hold of herself, she didn't really want to talk about why she was sad. Well that was a lie, she did but not with the one currently holding her. He wouldn't understand and he would just think she's crazy, again. Thankfully she didn't have to say anything, unfortunately however her stomach decided to growl again then.
"Is that all that's wrong? You're hungry?" Latios then asked her with a small chuckle. "Well luckily for you I already have your lunch prepared."
She wasn't at all surprised when he picked up a baby bottle and offered it to her, and normally she would fight this but she was a little too hungry to care at the moment.
"There's my good girl." Latios then cooed as she drank the milk willingly.
Once she was done he burped her, and again she didn't fight him or protest, though this time it was because she knew she had caused enough trouble for one day and didn't want to be in anymore.
Though Latios did something that surprised her. Instead of putting her back in the crib like she had expected, he carried her over to the window where she saw a canvas she hadn't noticed before.
"Now I still want to know why you were crying but before we get into that, I want to show you something." Latios then turned the canvas so she could see what was painted on it. And she was surprised to see that it was her. Well her as a Dratini that is.
Latios had painted her sleeping in the crib with the sun shining down on her. The sunshine made it look like she almost had a halo or at least that's how he had painted it. It was beautiful. But it just made her feel sad again to know that even if she tried painting like this hers would never turn out half as good as this.
"I call it, My Little Ray of Hope." Latios then told her proudly as he stroked her fin. "Because that's what you are to me, no matter how much trouble you cause. I want you to understand that. I get that you might not be fond of me yet still, but you are my daughter now and I love you. And well this is proof of just how much you've come to mean to me. You truly do light up my world sweetie. And I long for the day when you'll call me 'Daddy'. I'm sorry for whatever I did to upset you, really I am. So I beg you, Emily please don't try and run away again."
Emily didn't know how to respond, yes she knew he had become attached to her but to tell her, that he loved her? And mean it with all his heart? She was truly at a loss of what to say or do. And she couldn't bring herself to stay mad at him now even if he had ruined her chances of ever going home. She also felt guilty because once again she couldn't promise to not try and leave his care again. It's not like she wanted to break his heart, but staying here with him was breaking hers. And not just because she couldn't see her mom or her friends.
"Sorry, I guess I kind of overwhelmed you, huh?" Latios asked before he nuzzled her affectionately. "You don't have to say it back to me if you're not ready, I just wanted to let you know how I really feel."
Emily nodded mutely, still unsure of how she should respond to all of this.
"So, mind telling me why you were crying now, sweetie?"
Emily admitted that she was touched that he actually did care about her, but she had to wonder if he would feel the same if he were to see her for what she truly is. A human. How could she be sure that he wasn't just feeling this way because she is currently in the body of a baby he was taking care of.
In any case she supposed she could at least try and tell him the truth about why she had been crying. He had told her his true feelings after all. Though perhaps she shouldn't tell him the whole truth. If she told him that she thought she was back home when she first woke up….well she didn't want to ruin the moment with another argument.
"I wasn't sure where I was, when I woke up at first and it kind of scared me." She lied.
"...You got scared because you didn't recognise our room at first?" Latios asked her. He didn't sound like he totally believed her but he wasn't calling her out on her lie. "Well I guess it does look a little different with my painting supplies out. Sorry sweetie, I guess that was my bad."
Latios then nuzzled her again before he got a look on his face, that looked as though he had just remembered something he had forgotten.
"Ah that reminds me. I never did ask if you liked the painting."
"I-I do. It's beautiful...there is more work to be done on it obviously, but I can tell you put a lot of heart into it." She told him. This last part she was mostly saying quietly to herself and didn't expect him to hear her. "I doubt I could paint anything half as good as that right now."
Judging from the expression on his face, she could tell he had heard her.
"You want to paint?" The joy in his voice was even more evident than the joy on his face. If she had to guess, she would say that she had just made his day.
Before she could say anything more, Latios set her back down in the crib and got to work setting things up for her. She almost couldn't believe that he was setting things up she could paint. It was enough that, for the first time since waking up in this world she actually began to smile again.
(Latios)
She wants to paint! She wants to be like me! Those were the thoughts that were racing through his brain as he set things up for Emily. This was almost better than her calling him 'Daddy'!
And what made this moment even more better, if that was even possible, was that when he glanced towards Emily, she was smiling. There was an actual smile on her face! She hasn't smiled at all since she hatched! And he had caused it! And it is the most radiant adorable smile he has ever witnessed. He would have done this days ago if he had known she would be this happy at the prospect of painting.
To say that he was overjoyed would be an understatement to how he was feeling right now. As would be saying that she had made his day, it was more like she had made his whole year better.
He couldn't help but smile himself as he adjusted the easel for her and got a smaller canvas for her to paint on. He then got every colour of paint he owned and set it down for her. He wasn't exactly sure what she would be painting or what colours she would want to use so he wanted her to have lots of options. Honestly he didn't care what she was going to paint, he would love it no matter what.
Once he was done setting up, he picked her up out of her crib and set her down in front of the easel. He then waited patiently for her to start. She took a minute to look at all colours she had to choose from, and it looked as if she was about to pick one before she stopped.
"What's wrong?" He asked her.
"I can't paint with you looking over my shoulder like that, could you please give me some space?" She then asked him with a sigh.
This caused him to pout a little, he wanted to witness her first attempt at painting. As well as offer help and guidance if she needed it. But he then remembered the way she had been when she had seen the painting of the Ultra Wars he had painted during their tour of the Hall together. She had been looking at it in complete awe, and had appeared to be taking in every detail he had put into it. Even now when she had seen the portrait he did of her, she had said she could tell there was more work to be done. Perhaps she understood art more than he gave her credit for.
"Uh sure, sorry...just let me know if you... uh need any help or um when you're done." He told her, respecting her wishes he then moved to a different part of the room and began pretending to read a book. Peeking over it ever so slightly once in a while to watch her dip her tail into the paint, then use said tail to paint on the canvas.
It was beyond adorable to watch her work. Even if he did have to hide the fact that he was doing so whenever she glanced his way. After an hour passed by, Latios was tempted to ask her if there was as much paint on the canvas as there was on her. Jokingly of course. Still it was hard for him to not chuckle at the sight whenever he peeked.
"And...done!" He then heard her announce, and he tried his best to not race over, but he was pretty sure he had not succeeded.
"Whoa…." That was the only word that came to mind as he looked over her first painting. He knew he would love it no matter what but he hadn't expected just how much he would.
The painting itself was rather simple, it was a cherry blossom tree in full bloom, perched on a hill as the sun was beginning to set. The quality of the painting was not what he had been expecting from a hatchling her age, but it was spectacular nonetheless. And the fact that it featured a cherry blossom tree…
"Wh-why are you crying?" Emily asked, knocking him out of his daze.
He felt his cheek and sure enough he had shed a single tear. He quickly wiped it away before giving her a smile.
"That was a happy tear sweetie." He then explained. "The cherry blossom tree you painted...well Celebi and I… We shared our first date in a grove full of those trees. Seeing it in your painting brought back a happy memory is all."
"So you like it then?" She asked as he pet her head.
"Like it? Emily, I love it!" He exclaimed with a grin and she smiled back at him in turn. "Also you're very talented, I would never have expected a painting of this quality to come from a hatchling who's not even a week old."
I suppose he's right. It's not my best work, but given what I had to work with it's not bad either. He then heard her think to herself as she appraised her own work.
"Well this is definitely going on the wall when it's dry." Latios told her as he put her masterpiece to the side. "But in the meantime… Someone needs a bath."
He chuckled as he picked her up. He didn't think he could name a spot on her body that did not have paint on it. She didn't look thrilled about him bathing her again but she didn't fight him on it at least. Not that she would have won, she clearly needs one.
Today might have started out badly but the bonding experience that had come afterwards made everything worthwhile. At least that was how he was choosing to see it. And he really hopes that he and Emily would have more experiences like this one in the future.
TO BE CONTINUED…
Awww, now wasn't that precious? This is the kind of thing we need to see to help us get through this pandemic.
We got to see Ace finally and Emily smile for the first time since she arrived in the Pokemon World. Things seem to be looking up for our heroine. Unfortunately they won't stay that way. Sure there will be more cute moments but there are also gonna be more depressed ones as well. No matter how hard she tries Emily will never stop missing her mom or her friends or wishing that someone would believe her story.
Fortunately for her all these things will happen eventually. It's a matter of when that I am unsure about.
And once again I am sorry that this took so long, literally 2 years long. But I am hoping that the fact that these chapters are normally longer than any of my other Fanfics helps.
So until next time, stay safe and wash your hands!
