Chapter 9

I know long time since I updated this story. And long time since I updated either story I have in the wrestling section. Just freaking writer's block. As always I want to thank everyone for reading, extra thanks for things such as putting me on alert and favorite lists. And extra extra thanks for any reviews I get on anything.

Sonya looked around to make sure no one was around. She than opened the door to Riley's room. It was time to resort to her last resort to get information on him. "He's been her months and still has barley anything in here," She thinks. She just need something she could send off to get fingerprinted. The catch was it had to be something he wouldn't notice was gone. The remote for example he would touch a lot and likely have left several good prints, but he would notice it was gone. "Maybe this book. No I think everyone in the coven had read this. I don't want to hand the other's prints over just in case something else comes up," Sonya thinks.

Then she sees it in a waste basket an empty cologne bottle. An empty glass bottle. Sonya pulls a plastic bag out of her back pocket and gets the bottle in it. She takes a second to listen and make sure no one was coming down the hall. Exiting she made it to her room and got her phone and sent a quick text. "Hey that thing I asked you about. I am pretty sure I got a good print." IT took ten minutes for a response. "Yeah, just send it to the lab. I got a lot of work backlogged but I will get to it ASAP." Sony replied, "thanks."

Elsewhere

When Adam was a in middle school his aunt went through a bitter divorce. Over and over again his mother had asked "how could love turn to hate?" Well now Adam had a good idea. Down the aisle he saw Britt getting something off the shelf. As he pushed the cart toward her, he could fell the resentment radiating off her. "You ready?" Adam asks. "Yeah sure," Britt says not even making eye contact. There were so many things he wanted to scream about how he was doing this for her, how he wanted to take care of her, how he was so sorry, how had he known they would meet someday he would have never started to live that kind of life. Of course, that would lead to her screaming a lot of things right back. "Freaking Riley," Adam thought.

Finn's coven

"I really don't see what the big deal is," Zack said sitting across from Finn. "Well, you are part of the coven. And there is still a lot going on with Seth out there," Finn reminds him. "I just need time away; A weekend is not that much. Finn, you know what I went through. I'll be back soon enough," Zack says. Finn didn't want him to go but trying to force him to stay could drive him off fully. Finn reached into his desk. "Here use this," he says handing Zack a credit card. "You don't have to do that," Zack says. "You are part of the coven. Besides you won't get very far trying to walk," Finn says trying to joke. Zack takes it and stuffs the card in his pocket. A wave of quilt washed over him. "You have to do this," Zack thinks as he stands up.

The Library

It was late morning, and the sun was high in the sky. For most people that of course meant they were starting there day. For Mandy and her kind it meant either sleeping or trying to find ways to pass the time. When Mandy had first been turned the options to pass the time had been limited. Today of course there were many options. Still for Mandy there were two ways she enjoyed herself, One was was working out the other was reading. It had been a while but she the book she wanted to read. "Why would vampires have books on vampires?" She hears, looking around no one is there. "Ah Riley is projecting again," Mandy thinks and sure enough finds him looking at different books. "Can I help you find anything?" Mandy asks surprising him. It's clear to her he doesn't know she just heard a thought of his. "Just seeing if anything new came in," he lies and moves toward the door.

"Riley wait, we need to talk," Mandy says. "Do we?" Riley thinks clearly annoyed. Mandy ignores it. She doesn't like doing this, but he was so hard to read otherwise getting to know his thoughts was her only insight. "About?" He asks sounding cold and uninterested. "It's been a while I want to know how you are adjusting?" Mandy asks. "How am I adjusting or am I adjusting how you want?" Riley says. "There is no need or any good in you getting mad," Mandy says. "I'm doing the best I can in this life I never asked for," Riley says. "If not for Liv you would be dead," Mandy snaps. Riley is about to respond but Mandy has lost her temper and cuts him off. "And you don't seem to be in a hurry to step into the sun and end it. You have no problem enjoying some of the luxurious this coven provides you," Mandy rants. What really tick Riley off if he knows she's right. "I'm just looking for a book," Riley finally says before leaving.

Mandy turns the portrait of Merrick. "You said something about the storm. Something about Riley reminds me of looking dark clouds," Mandy says. "Maybe you should get rid of him," A voice says. Many turns around and sees Kip. "How many times have I told you not to do that?" Mandy says. "Since I first got turned if my guess," Kip says. Mandy doesn't respond to that. "I'm being serious. It might be time to accepts he's not going to be one of us. Not saying we stake him. Hell if we feel generous enough, we can give him money and one of the cars," Kip says. "Merrick wouldn't do that," Mandy reminds him. "Merrick never had to deal with Riley. Look I'm grateful that he kept Penelope safe but maybe he it's just best to let him go. I even like the guy let's face facts he's still holding out," Kip says.

"Merrick would never allow me to give up on someone," Mandy says. "Merrick isn't here and... never mind," Kip says stopping himself. "What?" Mandy says. "Do you remember when you left for Paris?" Kip says. "I've been to Paris many times," She says annoyed. "That time you two really blew up at him. After the incident with little tart as you called her," Kip says. Mandy grimaces recalling that time. "Well never mind than," Kip says walking away.

Alley Way

"Thanks for meeting me... what's wrong?" Sonya says looking at Crystal her connection at the lab to run Riley's prints. "Are you alone?" Crystal asks looking around. "Of course, I'm alone. Why are you so nervous?" Sonya asks. "Those prints you asked me to run came back. And they set off some major red flags," Crystal says handing Sonya the file and then walking off. "Crystal wait," Sonya says stunned. "No look Sonya don't contact me again. I don't care how much money you are offering next time. I don't need the FBI coming around my lab," Crystal says. "The FBI?" Sonya says confused. "Whatever you are involved in keep me out of it," Crystal says harshly before jumping into her car driving off.

Sonya looks at the file Crystal had given her. Opening she reads quickly. "What is this Riley's profile for a crazy roleplay game?" Sonya thinks. No these photos were all to real. Sonya took a deep breath and headed to her own car. She called Mandy and didn't either bother with a greeting. "Is Riley there at the mansion?" Came out of her mouth as soon as Mandy picked up. "Ah, I don't think so. I think he went out to hunt in the woods," Mandy says confused. "Are you sure?" Sonya yells. "No I'm not sure. What is going on?" Mandy finally asks. "I found out who he is. You aren't going to believe this but I trust this source," Sonya says.

Out in the woods

Riley enjoyed the silence of the woods. As much as he still hated drinking blood, but he found going on hunts alone strangely peaceful. Until he heard the rapid breaking of sticks and movement of feet. Someone was running at him very fast. At the last second Riley turned around just see a figure attempting to grab him. Riley spun and only for the figure to jump into a triangle choke. Riley was dragged down. Finally, just enough moonlight let him see who was attacking him it was Saber. Riley tried break the hold, but Zack clearly knew what he was doing and how to keep the choke in. Finally, Riley is able break choke it just lets Zack transition into an arm bar. "AHHHHHH!" Riley yells as his arm breaks. Zack lets the hold go and kicks Riley in the bad arm. "Why?" Zack yells before kicking Riley again.

Flight or fight had been drilled in Riley's head you just couldn't freeze and do nothing. Zack went for another kick, but Riley caught it with his good arm and use Zack's momentum to get him into a knee bar. The goal was simple pop something in Zack's leg. The advanced heeling wasn't instant, and Riley didn't think he could fight with the bad arm for long. If he could hurt Saber's leg it would let Riley run back to the mansion. But Riley's grip on the hold was poor. Zack slipped out and pounced on Riley choking him with one arm and punching him the head with the other. "She was pregnant! And you blew her up!" Zack screamed. Riley used the punching as a chance to buck him off. Flight was no longer an option so fight it was.

Riley drove his knee into Zack's side. Zack got back up and Riley hit side kick spun into a hook kick to the head. It was a mistake Zack blocked the spin kick and got a choke back in. Zack jumped on Riley back getting the hooks in. "Just tell me why!" He yelled. "The money," Riley choked out. "Money? To kill my wife?" "Your father... I didn't know she was in the car." If Riley was a human, he would have been choked out long ago. But since he didn't breathe anymore it was just painful. If he was still human he would never try this. There was a large tree stump. Riley dove for it turning so he drives Zack's head into it. It was enough to break the choke

"I didn't want to kill your wife. I know it means jack shit but my plan was to only kill your father," Riley says. "You think that makes it okay?" Zack yells lunging at Riely who avoids him. "No I don't," Riley says moving back. If he could get just far enough away he might be able to turn and run. But Zack is up quick and again dives at Riley's legs this time getting a takedown. Riley is able to kick him off. It was becoming clear to Riley that Zack is just to quick to risk turning and just running he could just back on his neck and back again. Zack gets Riley's good arm and breaks it with a key lock. "I am going to enjoy making you suffer. I am going to slowly tear you apart before stacking you," Zack declares.

"Zack get away from him!" Mandy yells. "BACK OFF MANDY! This doesn't involve you or the covens," Zack screams. "I am not going to tell you again. Get away from him," Mandy says. "He killed my family!" Zack screams painfully. "I'm sorry that happened. But this isn't the way to settle this. I can't let you kill him," Mandy says. "You coven leaders preach about how it's like a family. He hurt my actual family, but I'm expected to back away. I've wanted to kill this bastard for years!" Zack yells. "Come on Riley get away his grib can't be that good while his this distracted," Mandy thinks. What comes next stuns her. "Let him kill me. I have it coming," It's Riley's thoughts in her mind. She can see his eyes. "Riley no!"

"ENOUGH!" Zack yells and reaching for something in his jacket. Mandy charges forward. It's a stake and Zack is so blinded by his rage and that he starts to turn it towards Mandy who suddenly strikes him hard in the chest sending him flying. "You forget you are a child compared to me," Mandy says as she picks up the stake Zack dropped before tossing it away. Zack struggles to get up. Mandy started to advance toward him until she felt something weakly pull onto the leg of her jeans. She looked down and sees it's Riley. "Are you alright?" Mandy asks taking a knee next to him. "He's right Mandy. I should pay for what I did," Riley says weakly. " You have paid enough," Mandy says.

She turns back to Zack who is getting up. "I am going to give you one more chance Zack you can either leave now or become my enemy. And you are a child compared to me. I long mastered combat as a vampire," Mandy says. "Little problem with that Mandy. "I don't care as I kill him," Zack yells. He starts to charge. Mandy doesn't want to do this but she moves to meet him. Zack at the last second spins like a soccer player avoiding a defender. Riley has gotten and Zack tackles him driving him back. Riley hit the ground so hard he even bounces a few times. Zach pulls Riley by the collar. "Guess it will have to be plan B," Zack says before dragging Riley toward a cliff edge. Riley can hear the running water of a river below the cliff. "See one thing my father taught me was always know you battle ground. Two injured arms good luck..."

Zack suddenly stops as he feels a pain in his back. The pain enough for Riley to get free. Mandy stands behind Zack holding the stack. She hasn't stabbed him in the heart which is the killing blow, but the wounds are enough to stop Zack. Mandy looks him dead in the eyes and uses her powers. "You are to forget about everything you learned about Riley and return to your coven," Mandy says and repeats three times. Zack is trying to fight it but finally he gives he and walks away.

"Mandy?!" Sonya yells as she and Malaki run up the edge. "I'm fine help Riley," Mandy tells them as she watches Zack disappear into the tree line. "Boy you can't stay out of trouble can you?" Malaki asks Riley. "Mandy are you sure?" Sonya asks. "Yes Sonya I am. One more night isn't going to more harm," Mandy tells her. Sonya wasn't too sure about that. As if reading her mind Mandy says. "Besides it's finally time we learn the full story about Riley Morgan."
