Savanna POV

After 7 long weeks in the hospital and rehab center, it was finally time to go home! Miriam was so excited. I packed everything up at 9 am as we would be leaving at 11 am. Miriam watched TV until it was time to leave.

At 10:55 the nurse came to get us. Miriam transferred herself into her wheelchair for the first time. I was such a proud Mama! Miriam then wheeled herself out of her room. When she turned the corner she heard cheering and clapping. All the nurses and doctors were celebrating her getting go home. She started crying tears of joy as she wheeled herself down the hall. At the end of the hall were all of my children and my parents. Tobias engulfed her in a huge hug. "Congrats Miriam you're going home." He stated. "Thanks, Tobias," She replied. My parents gave her a huge hug and then left. Tobias and My parents took separate cars so then my parents could go back to their own home. "Thank you for everything I owe you" I thanked them. "Aww, Sav they were all such gems' ' They responded.

I helped Miriam in the car. "Mommy, why does she have that thing in her nose?" Hanna wondered. "Oh Hanna her tummy was too little and it was hurting her so this just helps feed her that's all" I explained. "We still love her though'' Leah beamed. "No, We don't, she looks like a sick dying person" Brian snarled. "BRIAN HOW DARE YOU THAT IS BEYOND UNKIND!" Leah Yelled. "SHUT UP LEAH I HATE MIRIAM AND THAT IS FINAL SO SUCK IT UP BUTTERCUP!" He screamed. HEY, I'M OLDER THAN YOU BRAT!" Leah cried. " I DON'T CARE OK" Brian snapped. "Hey, guys break it up!" I said ending the fight. "I'm so sorry mom" Leah apologized. "It's ok Lee, just next time let me handle him." "I Know you love Miriam but yelling is for me only" I stated. She nodded. I start to drive home. "Mom Brian made Miriam cry '' Leah whined. I look in the rearview mirror to see Miriam Crying. "Brian you're grounded" I snipped. "We are going to the mall to Build A Bear and you can't go" I punished him. "MOM" He wailed. "Brian it's final" I growled.

When we got home I helped Miriam back into her wheelchair. I then helped her up the ramp they installed. She immediately went into her room and started sobbing. I then left her alone.

An hour passed. I heard beeping coming from Miriam's room. I forgot to mention she got an insulin pump while in the hospital. Her pump was failing and needed to be changed. I quickly walked into her room and started to change it. "Ok Miriam you should feel the poke in 5 4 3 1," I said as I put a new pump on her arm. Thankfully she barely flinched. "Mom, can you stay here for a while?" She petitioned. "Of course Miri '' I listened. Miriam just pulls me in and sobs. "Oh Miriam it's ok I promise" I consoled her. "No it's not," She said. "It'll get better I promise." I soothed her by wiping her tears. She cried on my shoulder for about 45 minutes. She then pulled away and calmed down.

At dinnertime, we went to the mall. I promised Miriam a Build-A-Bear the day she came home. I pulled into the mall. We walked in together. I called a sitter for Brian and he was at home. I tried to only focus on Miriam. Tonight was only about her. We went into Build-A-Bear and started looking at Teddy's. "Hi welcome to Build A Bear What brings you in today?" An employee asked. "Miriam you want to tell her" I wondered. Miriam nodded and told her everything. The employee was great and was willing to help Miriam decide on her new animal. Miriam Decided on a dog. It had brown ears and brown spots all over including the left eye. Miriam wheeled herself up to the stuffing machine. " Hi, What's Your name?" The employee stuffing her puppy asked. "I'm Miriam," She replied weakly. "And how do you spell it the employee questioned " "M I R I A M '' Miriam stated. Miriam built her bear and then bathed it. I told Miriam she could pick out as many accessories as she wanted. She picked out a skateboard and a pair of 4*Town Pajamas. I smiled and helped her dress her new puppy. We then went over to name it. Tobias moved the stool so Miriam could get in. "What are you going to do to him?" I asked. "Miracle," She replied. "That's perfect Miriam" I cheered.

After the mall, we picked up happy meals for Leah and Hanna. I went to the store to pick up boxed mac and cheese and mashed potatoes for Miriam. After the store, we headed home.

When we got inside the house the babysitter said Brian was asleep in his room. I paid and thanked the babysitter. I then made Miriam her dinner and served it to her. I hugged Miriam and told her what a great person she is and reminded her that her feeding tube would come out in about a month and a half. "Hey, Mom I hope I'm not asking for too much when I say this but." "What is it, Mir?" I wondered. "Would I be able to get my haircut short once I get my tube out?" She asked, "Of course, you can baby girl" "Would that make you super happy." I replied. She nodded. "Ok," I said. "Hey, I don't want you to ever think you're asking too much," I stated. Miriam nodded and finished her dinner.
