Chapter 10-Creating a Family

It was a nice morning on berk it was quiet and sunny no cold winter winds just a nice calm day, a very rare scene for the island in the middle of Nowhere and not Far from Freezing to death, Astrid stirred and slowly awoke feeling a calming breath released onto her neck she knew immediately where she was and what had happened the night before she removed her face from where it was logged into his warm neck her cheek grazing the stubble of one Hiccup Horrendous Haddock the III she looked up to his peaceful sleeping face and smiled

He was so calm and it made her heart flutter at how relaxed and at home he felt laying by her she could see the faint smile on his lips and wanted to kiss him so badly but she would wait till he was awake until then her eyes roamed over his face and body counting freckles and his scar seeing all the faint burn marks and cuts on his shoulders and chest

Then she felt him move under her touch and watched his beautiful forest green eyes flutter open and she stared into them not caring he could notice then she heard his tired voice speak and she was going to die if she kept up with all these feelings

" good 'ornin Astrid"-he spoke in a hoarse and tired voice but she loved it and she nuzzled their cheeks together

"good morning to you as well my sleepy fiancé"-she smiled at the word 'fiancé' still loving that she was engaged to him he chuckled and gave a lingering chaste kiss on her forehead which she absolutely melted into closing her eyes and humming she wanted to stay like this for forever she loved every second of it, the slow kisses, the morning sun, the birds, even the snoring dragon in the corner it was all perfect

Soon hiccup lifted her up onto his chest and petted his hands down her body and she only laid her head on his ever-beating heart and sighed, the 'thump thump thump' of his heart was lulling her into another deep sleep but his voice reeled her back into reality

"I'm sorry.."-he sighed and she became confused he did nothing wrong that she knew of-"for last night with snot..."-she froze a little and lifted her head to meet his gaze

"w-what happened with you two...?"-she asked hesitantly he sighed and couldn't meet her eyes all she did was crawl up to his face and they were now inches apart their breath mingling in the space between them and being released to the morning air

"He was the one who commissioned the guys to attack Sindri..."-he stated still not being able to meet her eyes and Astrid seemed shocked, Snotlout was stupid but attacking a kid? A kid under hiccups protection? That's just even worse

"That jerk"-she sighed he only looked ashamed, and she could tell so she kissed his cheek and nuzzled him again getting a sigh of relief out of him-"I wasn't upset with you Hiccup...I just thought you attacked him for no reason...but now I realize I should ask you before I jump to conclusions"

Hiccup knew Astrid was being honest but he also knew Astrid and how she viewed things especially when angry so he didn't expect her to change because even with her flaws she was still his Astrid, he gave her a kiss to her hair and held her tight against him both their heart beats over lapping and matching rhythm

Astrid was enjoying this moment but there was one thing looming over her one this that couldn't stop plaguing her mind, Fear, the fear of losing him, the fear of Hiccup leaving again. Hiccup leaving again was all that was stopping her from just dumping every bit of her soul onto him and giving herself to him in every way and she wanted to but she was Astrid Hofferson she isn't supposed to be emotional she's strong and brave yet this one person. Her best friend and the love of her life is making her crumble with just a look of his emerald green eyes and stupidly cute smile

"Hiccup..."-she asked in a wavering voice that he noticed and she heard him shuffle to look at her and hum in acknowledgment

"I'm scared..."-she stated in a voice full of sadness and regret bubbling in her chest misty eyed and clutching him for dear life

Hiccup was stunned to say the least Astrid was scared? Shes never been scared she always acts as so strong and hides her feelings but he knew something was wrong-"what's wrong Ast?"

"p-please don't leave me..."-he could feel the tears falling onto his tunic pooling into a wet puddle and he held her even tighter he heard the stutter he knew it was serious but she continued and he was shocked

"Hiccup I love you...I-I cant witness you go again"-she was now crying silently as she awaited his response and she felt him tense under her she was waiting for rejection

"I love you to Ast, and I'm not leaving ever again I don't know what happened to you during that time but it hurt you so I will never leave you again"-he laid a long kiss on her hair and she was sobbing now after five years of him being gone, five years of pain..no family, not many friends, no one to love now she has more then she could ask for she got her Hiccup back

She pulled him tighter against her as her tears died down and she continuously nuzzled her face to his chest bathing in his warmth as he pet her back comforting her, she soon peppered his face and neck with soft kisses and nuzzled back into his neck, she was never one for emotions especially like this crying and being overly affectionate, she was Astrid Hofferson for Thor's sake!, brave warrior, dragon killing machine but being with Hiccup after so long she couldn't help but turn into an affectionate mess

Hiccup was slowly starting to fall asleep with Astrids ministrations he softly pet her hair and held her tight to his chest until a thought came to his mind, a small thought with jet black hair, his gaze swept across the hut and noticed Sindri wasn't present-"As much as I love this where is Sindri?"

That thought hit her a little to hard as she remembered she left him at her hut in the Village, that shouldn't be a problem it was locked no one could entire but it still wasn't a good idea to leave him alone especially in light of recent events-"he should be asleep in my family's old hut..."

That woke him up right away, after the incident with Snot he didn't want him out of his sight even though Hes only known him for a short period of time he enjoyed every moment of it Sindri, Astrid, And Toothless were his family now and after being alone for so long he enjoyed the ups and downs and would do anything to protect them, soon he slowly let the cuddly Astrid from his grip and swung his legs off the side of the bed-"ughhh I don't want to get up but I need to check on him"

Astrid got up Aswell and laid her chin on his shoulder and wrapped her arms around his torso-"No WE need to go check on him my love"-she kissed his cheek and hopped off the bed giggling as she threw on her armor form the night before and Hiccup finally got up and walked over to Toothless

"well good morning there ya useless lizard"-he gruffed out his voice still groggy and tired but the night fury only warbled in a mimicking tone and got up and slowly approached Astrid sniffing and cooing at her, Astrid was still on the Fence about the whole 'Draggons aren't bad just misunderstood' statement Hiccup kept telling her but she did enjoy Toothless's company and did like the fact she kept Her Hiccup company all those years then it hit her

She had said it a few times but it never registered with her but she definitely liked it she loved being able to call him hers and she would only be his no mater the case she was his and he was hers end of discussion

-1 Hour Later-

Astrid slowly walked through the Village with Hiccup Shadowing her, he really wasn't supposed to be in the Village now with the incident the night before but he wasn't letting anyone mess with her or Sindri. Slowly they made their way to the old Hofferson Hall she knocked on the door and heard footsteps and small voice speak from beyond the door

"w-Who is it?"-the boy wearily asked from the other side

"hey Sindri its me Astrid can you release the lock please?"-slowly the latch was moved, and she walked in and rushed to the back door to let an Armored Hiccup enter the hut. As soon as he saw Hiccup Sindri made a bee line for the man and almost tackled him to the ground

"Well hello to you too"-he chuckled as he felt Sindri Grip him tighter and Hiccup wrapped his arms around him as well

"Thought...you left..."-he mumbled into Hiccups Armor, Hiccups eyes widened and brought the boy to his lap and motioned for Astrid to come closer and soon he had his family in his arms, Sindri in his lap peering up at him and Astrid snuggled it his neck once more with his arm securely wrapped around both of them

"I'm not leaving anytime soon I have people who want me to be here and that is all I need"-he Kissed the top of Sindri's head who gasped cried into his armor and Astrids cheek who only giggled a little before their attention was both drawn to Sindri

"what's wrong honey?"- Astrid tried to comfort the boy but he only cried and then he finally looked up at both of them

"so that mean...we are a family..? Like mom and dad were..?'-that broke a little of Astrid and Hiccup both lost their parents in different ways whether it be death or disowned and they knew it could be hard especially on a little kid

"yea of course we are..."-"Are you like...my mom?"-that was something she wasn't expecting, she didn't know if she was even able to take care of a kid she was warrior made to Kill not to Nurture....but she looked at Sindri and saw a broken yet hopeful look directed at her then she looked up at Hiccup and she saw the kind and gentle green gaze pouring into her confused blue eyes, she knew she could if she had Hiccup

"If you want me to be...then yea I can"-she smiled then Sindri flung himself at her hugging her tight and then Hiccup spoke

"does that make me your dad?"-he chuckled but Sindri only laughed

"You already were!"-they all laughed and hugged they knew they were together and could face anything together Hiccup was happy he had a family once again, and Astrid was glad she had her Hiccup and now an Adopted Son who she would love No matter what
