Caitlin and Frost were with Sakura learning Medical Ninjutsu, and Naruto was watching Cisco get his calligraphy down, while Barry was in the TPD working to get faster, quicker reaction time, and faster response time, when suddenly Naruto's phone rang. Naruto picked up his phone and saw that it was Felicity. Naruto clicked a button on his Bluetooth and answered the call.
"What's up Felicity?" Naruto asked as he answered the call
"Can you come over to the Arrowcave I… or rather we are in need of some serious assistance? We are alone." Felicity answered in a slightly panicked tone
"Sure. I'll be right over." Naruto answered before he hung up the phone
"I'll be right back guys Felicity needs my help with something." Naruto said before he disappeared in a flash of orange
(Arrow cave)
Naruto appeared in a flash of orange next to Felicity, slightly scaring Diggle.
"I'm never going to get used to that." Diggle commented
"So, what do you need me for?" Naruto asked with his arms crossed
"Well, for starters I think that you need to hear the full story." Felicity answered before she turned to Oliver ushering him to explain the predicament they were in
"Essentially my half-sister was drugged and forced to kill someone very close to us, the arrow that we gave you guys was the one that killed the person. The league of shadows found out about the death and are essentially demanding the head of the person responsible which would be my sister Thea. I am going to challenge the head of the league of shadows who is a master assassin to a battle to the death to clear the blood debt, and any bit of assistance I can get would be monumental. Which is why Felicity called you." Oliver explained
"And why don't you just tell them that she was drugged and give them the person who drugged her?" Naruto asked
"They would still demand the head of the one who essentially pulled the trigger, believe me, if I could just turn in the person that drugged my sister I would, but it would do nothing." Oliver answered "So will you help me?"
"Fine…but if any of this traces back to me or my loved ones you know I'm coming for you." Naruto said before he summoned a sealing tag from one of the seals on his arms and put it between his fingers. And everyone watched as red writing flowed out from Naruto's fingers onto the paper before it settled and became black
Naruto handed the tag to Oliver "Put this tag on your body before you enter the fight. Once applied it can not be taken off. Should you suffer a mortal wound the chakra in this tag will kick in and assist in healing you. Might take a couple of days to a week but it will keep you alive while it heals you, you should be able to move but nothing too straining."
"Is there anything else that requires my assistance?" Naruto asked
Everyone shook their head "Alright then I will take my leave." and with that Naruto opened a portal back to the Cortex.
(A month and a half later)
Bette had finally finished her Elemental training, now able to consciously put explosive chakra on things at will she figured that she could continue with her life. Naruto gave her a Hirashin kunai should the government show up again.
Caitlin and Frost had finished their Medical Ninjutsu training under Sakura and could now take over the role of medics for the team freeing up Sakura to work on some of her work as well as making sure she didn't strain herself during pregnancy.
Cisco had finally mastered Fuinjutsu Calligraphy as well as had finished reading all the scrolls and books Naruto supplied him with and could now make things on his own, but they had to be reviewed by Naruto before application.
Dr. Wells, Cisco, Caitlin, and Barry walked into the Cortex "Captain Cold is back." Cisco announced getting Naruto, Sakura, and Frost's attention
"You know for a non-Metahuman. Leonard Snart is quite the nemesis." Dr. Wells commented
"He still has the cold gun, the one he stole from us, the one I built." Cisco added with a hint of depression in his voice
"Cisco quit beating yourself up." Naruto said
"What does this 'Snart' want this time?" Frost asked
"The Flash." Barry said flatly causing Frost to walk up to Barry and kiss him
"The only one that gets you is me." Frost said matter of factly
"Well, on the bright side you can attack him from a distance now." Naruto commented
"If Snart wants a fight with the flash, then I'll give him one." Barry stated
"Well…" Dr. Wells trailed off
"You don't think I should?" Barry asked rhetorically
"I didn't say that. What I'm trying to say Barry is, as fast as you are you cannot be everywhere at once. And it becomes then a question of priorities. Now, I don't know how you are doing on your training because you don't tell me and I am not there to witness it but I can only hope you are making leaps and bounds in terms of progress with your speed and reflexes." Dr. Wells explained
"Well as a matter of fact I actually can be in more than one place at once now. I can just use Lightning Style: Shadow Clone and make a clone of myself out of lightning." Barry explained 'Shocking' Dr. Wells
Dr. Wells turned to Naruto "And when were you going to inform me of this?"
"I didn't feel a need to seeing as I am their teacher." Naruto shot back
"I would like to be kept up to date with Barry's progress." Dr. Wells insisted
"If you insist on it, I will keep up you to date with Barry's progress, but Cisco, Caitlin, and Frost you don't need to know about." Naruto said
"Thank you." Dr. Wells said
"Anyways what am I supposed to do, just ignore Snart?" Barry asked
"The last time you had a fight with Snart, a whole freaking train derailed. You were lucky to get all those people to safety in time. And if you don't give him that fight…" Dr. Wells said leaving the end of that up to Barry's intelligence
"Then he may just back off, and there will be no casualties." Barry finished
"Look, Barry. Cisco, Naruto, and I will work with Joe and CCPD to devise a way to catch Cold." Dr. Wells added
"Cisco you could finally put your knowledge of Fuinjutsu to use. I'm sure you can figure out a way to counter Snart's cold gun." Naruto commented
"Wouldn't that raise a couple of flags as to how it's done?" Cisco asked questioning if Naruto had gone crazy or not
"I don't think they will be focused on how it is done, rather they will be focused on how effective it is at protecting them from harm." Naruto answered
Cisco shrugged seeing the logic in his argument "I guess you are right."
Dr. Wells wheeled himself over to Barry "Barry, Listen. Whether or not you go after Snart, that's your choice. We're here, and we will do whatever we can to support you. But after this past Christmas, after the events with Reverse-Flash… I just think the poses a greater threat to all of us."
"The fuck you mean he poses a greater threat to all of us? I personally am not afraid of the fucker. If he shows up again and threatens one of you I will take him out then and there. You have me for protection" Naruto laughed
"While I do appreciate the offer for protection we can not learn to lean on you for protection as it will just make us weaker and stunt our growth. For example, if you just give a lesser civilization the technology to advance to where another higher civilization is at they will learn nothing and stunt their growth and advancement as they will learn to rely on the person or people who gave them the technology." Dr. Wells explained
Naruto shrugged "I guess I see the logic in your argument. But that doesn't mean that I'm just going to sit back and let this fucker wreak havoc."
(Later the next day – CCPD)
Barry walked into find Iris and Eddie kissing, Barry cleared his throat getting Eddie's attention.
"Eddie do you know where Joe is?" Barry asked
"He should be in your lab upstairs." Eddie answered before Barry headed up to his lab
Barry walked into his lab and saw Joe sitting in a chair "Hey, Joe."
"Hey. I'm glad you're back." Joe said handing Barry a coffee "I've been going over Snart's file."
Barry took the coffee "Thanks. Yeah, I need to talk to you. As CSI, my work on this case is done. And as the flash, I don't think I can focus on Snart right now."
Joe put the file down "You mind telling me what exactly brought about this change of heart?"
"This man in yellow, the man that killed my mom, is still out there. I must be ready to face him, on my own, without Naruto, which means amping up my speed, which means I have to devote as much time as I can to training and getting faster." Barry explained
"Your mother's killer is not the only reason you have been doing this. You told me that if you could use your powers to save someone from a burning building, you would." Joe said trying to get to the bottom of the issue
"Look, Cisco, Naruto, and S.T.A.R. Labs are gonna work with you. Cisco thinks he has a way to protect the police against Snart's cold gun." Barry informed
"Barry, I can understand you are scared and don't want to have to rely on Naruto. We talked about this." Joe started before he was interrupted by Barry
"Of course, I'm scared, Joe. This guy could run into the precinct and kill everyone here in a matter of seconds with Naruto at S.T.A.R. Labs. He threatened Iris. I won't let him hurt the most important people in my life again. If that means devoting every second I have to train then that's what I will do. I'm sorry. I've made up my mind." Barry said before he turned and walked out
(Later that day – CCPD)
Cisco had devised a seal matrix to counter the durability and heating problem that plagued the CCPD riot shields and Naruto had come as his test dummy/S.T.A.R. Labs representative. The whole precinct had gathered to see the demonstration.
"If I could please have your attention ladies and gentlemen." Cisco said with goggles on his head and a canister on his back
"You have our attention, Mr. Ramon." Said a slightly annoyed David Singh
"Okay so check this out, Naruto and I, we took your ballistic shields and laced them with a pretty sophisticated heating and durability element designed to reinforce the shield and repel the temperature attacks, especially those reaching Absolute zero, like Captain Cold's gun." Cisco explained as he walked a ways away from Naruto and the enhanced ballistics shield
"And that's supposed to keep us from becoming a human popsicle?" an officer asked skeptically
"Yes, they will." Cisco answered
"How are we supposed to trust anything from S.T.A.R. Labs especially after you nuked the city?" another officer asked
Cisco turned to Naruto silently asking him for guidance, Naruto simply nodded his head "We will not allow our past to define who or what our future is in this city. Consider this a commitment to making amends." Cisco said
"Now allow me to demonstrate how it will protect you against Captain Cold's gun." Cisco said as he took aim and fired a stream of Liquid Nitrogen at Naruto
Everyone watched as the entire front of the shield was soon covered in Ice, after a few seconds, Cisco let off the trigger and allowed everyone to watch his handiwork be undone by his sealing matrix as it glowed red.
After the demonstration was over everyone dispersed and Joe walked up to Naruto "Am I to assume that Dr. Wells is to blame for Barry's sudden change of heart?"
"To be fair he isn't completely wrong, Barry needs to learn to stand on his own 2 feet and not rely on me. Don't get me wrong I will always be there to protect you guys and my loved ones, but Barry needs to put in the work to get faster, and quicker reaction time." Naruto answered "Dr. Wells made a very sound argument, me being a constant shield for you guys will only stun your growth and progression."
"It's not like Barry to act like this. He is one to put himself on the line to protect others not put others on the front line." Joe countered
"Joe, Barry is old enough to make his own decisions. We should respect them and support him." Naruto shot back before he walked off allowing his words to sink in
(Later that day – S.T.A.R. Labs)
Barry walked into the Cortex to find an oblivious Caitlin looking for something on the main console as well as a bored Frost a little ways away also completely oblivious to Barry's presence as well as Naruto who was meditating.
"Whatcha looking for?" Barry spoke up scaring Caitlin "Sorry didn't mean to startle you."
"Nothing much just the last thing that Ronnie said before he flew off." Caitlin said as Frost got up and walked over to her boyfriend and gave him a kiss before resting her head on his shoulder as she gave him a hug
"Firestorm? I doubt that Ronnie would want us focusing on Wildfire stories and articles. Have you ever thought that maybe Firestorm could mean something else maybe an acronym?" Naruto said as he walked into the Cortex after he said that Caitlin lit up and typed in 'F.I.R.E.S.T.O.R.M.' suddenly her search was narrowed down to a single search
"It's 800 pages." Caitlin stated
"Would you please speed-read it for her babe?" Frost asked
"Sure, I don't see why not." Barry said before he sped read the paper "There's quite a lot of stuff in there, but it mostly focuses on transmutation, which is the process of altering the structure of an element by unzipping the atoms-." Barry explained before Caitlin cut him off
"-and rebuilding it to create an entirely new element." Caitlin finished
"Well, the article was co-written by Jason Rush, who's a grad student here at Hudson university. So if anybody knows what happened to Ronnie…" Barry added
"Maybe he does." Caitlin said finishing the thought
"Do you want me to accompany you, Caitlin?" Naruto asked not breaking meditation
"You trained me well enough Sensei I think I'll be fine." Caitlin said before she pulled up information on Jason Rush to get his contact information after she had that she picked up her phone and called him as she walked out of the cortex
(The Next Day – S.T.A.R. Labs)
Barry walked into the Cortex and was greeted by Cisco who was working on a seal matrix for Barry's suit to make it tougher and more durable, Naruto was in a lab working on something, and Sakura was in a lab working on something as well.
Dr. Wells wheeled himself in from behind Barry "I hope we're not enemies."
"What? No, of course not." Barry said confused
"I thought you might blame me for what happened to those officers." Dr. Wells explained "For pushing you to pursue your training rather than helping the police." He added
"Dr. Wells, with all due respect, I am an adult I can make my own decisions and my own mistakes. However, I am glad you push me to be better." Barry said reassuring Dr. Wells "It's weird, there was a time in my life that I would have paid money for your autograph. And no we're…well."
"Partners." Dr. Wells interrupted
"I was gonna say friends." Barry finished
"In case you doubt it. You push me to be better too." Dr. Wells said
"I have completed the analysis of the heat gun that you asked for Cisco." Hagoromo informed causing Cisco to pause his work on his seal matrix and walk over to the main console to see the complete analysis.
"Hey, you guys, check this out." Cisco said getting the attention of Barry, Naruto, Sakura, and Dr. Wells as they came over to the main console "When the heat gun fires, it increases the surrounding temperature of the air dramatically, sort of like an extreme heat wave. I measured the temperature output of both the cold and heat guns, while the cold gun achieves absolute zero, the heat gun achieves absolute hot or the hottest temperature an object can reach."
"So potentially, if these two guns could cancel one another out?" Dr. Wells asked
"Yeah, but to do that, you'd have to make them cross-streams." Cisco answered
"You mean like Ghostbusters?" Barry asked
"That film is surprisingly scientifically accurate." Cisco commented when Barry's phone rang
Barry answered the phone "Hey, Joe what's up." after a couple of seconds Barry took off
(An hour later – S.T.A.R. Labs)
"Sir, it appears that all News stations have been hijacked would you like me to pull up the feed?" Hagoromo asked
"Yea, I want to see what's up." Naruto answered before the feeds came up on their screens
"Greetings, Citizens of Central City." The voice said, there was whimpering in the background "I am Leonard Snart, but you may call me Cold. I am going to make this very simple for everyone. That red streak you've been hearing whispers about, the one that has been mysteriously saving people these past few months. Well, big surprise, he's real, calls himself the flash. Porter and Main, tonight, sundown. Come out, come out, wherever you are, Flash. Show the whole world you're real. Or this woman dies." Snart said before turning the camera to reveal Caitlin with her arms bound behind her "No, don't come for me. Stay Away." She called out before he was moved away from the camera as the feed was cut
Suddenly Naruto's phone rang "You going to take the bait Barry? You know that Caitlin is more than capable of handling herself."
"Yea, but I think it's time that I reveal that I am more than just a myth now. Plus, if I don't show up, he may target other civilians to get my attention" Barry answered
"You are an adult; this is your choice. And I will respect that." Naruto said before he hung the phone up
"Cisco, I think that you should hurry up on that seal matrix you are putting on Barry's suit. He is going to need the extra durability fighting these guys." Naruto said getting a nod from Cisco before he walked over to Barry's suit and resumed his work
Suddenly Naruto had an epiphany "I can't believe I forgot that." getting Frost, Cisco, Sakura, and Dr. Wells's attention "I completely forgot to explain Chakra exhaustion to you guys. Once Caitlin gets back and Barry gets done with Cold and Heat Wave, I'll explain it because I would rather not explain it twice."
(Later that day – Sundown – S.T.A.R. Labs)
Barry, Naruto, Frost, Cisco, and Dr. Wells were waiting in the Cortex for Barry to get his call that the street was blocked off for his fight with Cold and Heatwave. Cisco was putting the finishing touches on the seal matrix that he put on Barry's suit for extra durability.
Just as Barry's phone rang Caitlin walked into the Cortex completely unharmed, shocking Dr. Wells "Okay, you're up. Good luck, son." Joe said "You sure you're ready for the world to know that you exist?"
"I don't really have a choice, Joe. It's either I fight them, or they potentially target other civilians." Barry answered "See you soon." and with that Barry hung up the phone as Cisco backed away from the suit as his seal matrix glowed before fading away signifying that it was complete and working
"Go kick their ass babe." Frost cheered before Barry got suited up and sped off
"Ms. Snow, how did you free yourself and get away? I doubt you could overpower 2 men with hot and cold guns." Dr. Wells asked
"It wasn't all too hard to break the bindings considering what I can lift." Caitlin answered
(Porter and Main)
Barry came speeding in surprising multiple people "I don't believe it he's actually real." David Singh along with several other police officers
"The Scarlet Speedster. So how would you like to die? The flame or the frost?" Snart asked the only response he got was a dirty look from Barry "Not in a mood to chitchat. Got it. Ready when you are."
They both aimed their guns at Barry, and they watched as Barry sped through hand signs faster than they could see "Lightning Style: Electric Bullet" Barry called out as he formed 2 finger guns pointed one at each gun confused Snart and Rory before twin orbs of lightning formed at the end of Barry's fingers and shot off at the speed of lightning and hit each of their guns shorting them out.
"The hell was that?" They both asked before they tried firing their guns only for nothing to happen
"What the hell did he do to our guns?" Rory asked
Barry then signals for the CCPD to come and arrest Snart and Rory. CCPD arrest Snart and Rory and confiscate their guns, who are still baffled at what happened thinking that he had the fight in the bag.
(Later that Night – CCPD)
Naruto and Cisco walked into the Precinct "AAH! I'M GONNA BURN EVERY LAST ONE OF YA PIGS!" was the first thing they heard as they watched 2 cops struggle to get Mick Rory under control as Rory threw one of them off causing several policemen to draw their weapons on Rory. Rory simply opened his mouth and roared at the guns aimed at him before he was finally pulled away by 2 policemen.
"You're partners a real hothead." Joe told Snart
Snart didn't even chuckle "That's funny."
"You know what's hilarious, Snart? We got you." Joe said
"Congratulations." Snart said sarcastically
"Get him out of here." Joe said before Snart was whisked away by the 2 policemen escorting him
Cisco and Naruto walked up, Naruto was carrying a large case meant to store the hot and cold guns "Alright hand 'em over." Naruto said as he opened the case as Eddie walked up with the guns and handed them to Cisco
"Make sure they never hurt anyone again." Eddie said getting a nod from Cisco and Naruto before he closed the case
"Mr. Ramon, Mr. Uzumaki." David Singh greeted them before he stuck out his hand "Thank you." Cisco shook his hand before Singh walked off
(The next day – S.T.A.R. Labs)
Naruto had gathered the Chakra users of Team Flash including Bette and brought them to the TPD "Alright I have brought you all there for 2 reasons. 1. To explain to you what Chakra exhaustion is. 2. To teach you the Body Replacement Jutsu as well as the Body Flicker Technique." Naruto explained getting their attention
"First off it is the most important, Chakra exhaustion is a term that we shinobi use when we have run dangerously low on chakra, so low that we lose consciousness, in the most extreme cases it can kill you, which is why it is essential that you never push your self to hard, especially with very low chunin reserves." Naruto explained looking at Cisco "That's why I have limited you to only 1 shadow clone at a time a day, as to not strain your reserves so much."
"One of the second things is the Body Replacement Technique, which when used allows you to trade places with anything, or anyone in realistic expectations. For example, you cannot trade places with a concrete wall only stuff roughly the same size as you. Now you can trade places with almost anyone granted they aren't a lot taller. This technique can only be used when you are about to be struck or hit by a harmful attack so you can't just use it for the hell of it." Naruto explained as he showed them how to do it "Second of the Body Flicker Technique, this technique is used to move at near untraceable high speeds to either move from one spot to the next or long distances, but it requires chakra to boost your speed to that level so do not spam it." As he showed them out to do it.
