57: Stark Expo [02]

Gwen was a bit confused when Peter left without saying anything, but she quickly understood the reasoning behind his disappearance. The Hammer Drones weren't as good as she'd thought and they started attacking out of nowhere when Iron man arrived. The public went into a frenzy and everyone started running around so that they could save their skin.

Gwen, too, ran away; she couldn't afford to stay, not with a life in her stomach. A life she was responsible for. She wanted to help, she had the powers to do so, but she couldn't or she'd end up endangering her and her child's life. She didn't want that and she also knew that Peter, surely, wouldn't want that too.

So, she turned a blind eye to everything happening around her and instead focused on running away, along with Ned, Betty, and Michele. There was Natalie, their teacher, too. She was coming with them, so that was good. And soon enough, they managed to leave the premises, and no one got hurt. She was happy no one did, from her little group anyway.

The other people though… Gwen knew too well that they were likely hurt. There might've been casualties too. But Gwen steered her focus away from that.

"Gwen," Michele walked up to her. "Where's Peter?"

Gwen made a face, "I don't know, he just left a while ago."

Michele squinted her eyes suspiciously, but didn't ask further and instead went away, taking out her phone to call someone, possibly her family.

Remembering this, Gwen promptly took out her phone and dialed her dad's number. The bell rang for a while before he picked up.

She quickly briefed him on the situation and told him that she was fine and that he should bring the NYPD here since it would be a matter concerning the government too, soon enough.

Her dad would arrive soon enough, she was sure that Spider-Man—aka, her boyfriend—would take care of the situation for that long; there was that Iron Man too, so Gwen wasn't really worried.

But she still had to put in a bit of effort so that she wouldn't think about what she could've done. Peter had vehemently told her not to do anything reckless since she had no suit and her identity would be in the public, and that would come with so many dangers.

And Gwen was planning on doing just that.

Peter was having a blast today.

Fighting high-tech drones was quite awesome in his opinion. Though he also made sure to save people and act as if he was having a difficult time dealing with everything. He didn't want the world to know anything big related to him, and that included his powers. Peter would, himself, reveal his powers one day.

When an enemy strong enough came.

Until then, he didn't want to do that.

Peter was fighting with drones with the handguns Silver had given to him. He would jump, aim, and shoot, blasting through the drone in one single shot. These guns, they were quite fascinating, Peter made a self-note to study them too, once he had free time.

They were quite good, but they were better suited for Silver, and he wanted to make some heavy changes in the design and maybe improve it in general.

Peter had shot another pair of drones when he caught a glimpse of white hair in his crazy maneuvers. He frowned slightly and looked in that direction, only to frown harder as he saw Felicia walking up to a drone Iron-Man blasted down.

It was dead, kind of, but it could still shoot. And it would do just that If she didn't stop. Peter made quick work of the drones in his vicinity and made his way down toward her. Then, he cast an invisibility spell on himself before un-summoning his suit and going back into his Peter Parker look.

He walked to her, while he glanced Tony flying away as the drones were kind of finished. Peter deduced that it was probably time for the last final boss fight, but that was for Tony to deal with, not him, so he ran up to Felicia instead.

Then, just as she caught a glowing thing, which he noticed was a half-broken arc reactor, Peter rushed, weaved his hands down to her as he caught her by the waist, and jumped to the side as the drone shot at the spot where she was previously.

Felicia let out a startled cry as she seemingly snapped out of something, and looked at him in panic. Her expression paled, morphed into horror, then embarrassment. That much Peter glimpsed as they rolled on the ground a few times before coming to a stop.

"Akh!" Peter feigned a painful cry as they came to a stop, with him on the ground and Felicia on top of him. They lied like that for a few seconds before Felicia stood up, dusted her clothes, and offered him a hand as she bent down slightly.

"Thank you…" she whispered.

Peter raised his hand toward her hand as he gave her a look. His hand, instead of grabbing hers, passed up to her forehead before Peter gave her a hard flick.

"Owww!" Felicia caught her forehead in pain, it seemed he'd used a bit too much strength. But before she could say anything, however, Peter stood up, neared her face, and clasped her cheeks with his hand. Then, he gave both her cheeks a little slap, causing her to glare at him, and him to wonder how they could be so soft, and juicy.

"What for?" she hissed, bearing her teeth.

"For being an idiot and nearing a drone, that could have, figuratively and literally, killed you." Peter gave her a cold stare. "That was stupid," then, he bent down and picked up the arc reactor. "More so for a stupid glowing thing."

Felicia looked ashamed, so Peter decided to cut her some slack as he threw the arc reactor away, making her panic. He didn't really throw it away, instead, he'd just made the motion of throwing it while putting it in his [Inventory] for later research.

"Why!?" Felicia cried, depressed that her glowing orb thingy had been thrown away.

Peter didn't answer, and just walked away. While Felicia stood there, gazing at his back with an extremely angry and embarrassed look. She was angry that he'd thrown her thingy away, but embarrassed that her kleptomania had acted up in a situation like this.

She feared Peter would go around announcing that she'd acted like a dum-dum. They'd make fun of her. Felicia didn't want that, so she quickly ran up to him and grabbed his shirt.

"I have kleptomania." She said, not knowing why she said it. "But don't tell anyone," she growled.

"Uh," Peter made a face, "Sure?"

Then, he walked away, leaving her alone to ponder and be embarrassed again.

Fuck!

Felicia cursed and went towards the bus, everyone had gathered, and the teacher she'd tried to steal from—Natalie if she remembered correctly—was making sure everyone was there.

Now that she remembered this teacher, she also remembered that she'd told her how Peter was hitting on her, and harassing her. Felicia felt bad for Peter now, she'd made it a bit more miserable for him while he hadn't really done anything to her. And today, despite what she'd done to him, he'd helped her in danger.

She, along with the other students, boarded the bus and returned. On the way, Felicia kept stealing glances at Peter, by extension, his little group of friends, and his girlfriend, Gwen. She was a bit jealous that he had such good friends, and even more jealous when she saw how pretty his girlfriend was, but she was also envious.

Then, her gaze landed on Betty, and her mood was fouled.

When the bus reached Midtown, Felicia just went home, got into her room, and hugged Onyx to sleep, much to the latter's protests and scratching.

"Please, Ony…" Felicia purred at her cat, groggily. "Mommy's feeling no-so-good today…"

When he got home, May had many questions for him, and was really panicked. But he 'calmed' her down after a while of 'convincing'. Then, he went into his room, cleaned his table, took out the arc reactor from his [Inventory], and put it on the table.

Then, he began studying it since he wanted to replicate this tech and use it in his future plans. Why use the arc reactor in his future plans? Simple, the arc reactor wasn't something simple, it was radioactive, and it could produce a high amount of energy. It could be used in so many ways, not just to power up suits of armor or similar stuff like that, but buildings, machines, and so much more.

He could use it as an energy/ammo tank for the new guns he was going to make using the guns gifted to him by Silver. He could increase their power and do so much more. Peter was excited. Guns were a man's romance. Along with many other things.

Peter didn't sleep the whole night as it didn't really bother him much since he wasn't quite human anymore, and focused on the arc reactor, playing around with it. Although it was broken, he could understand a lot just by how it was made, and he couldn't help but admit to himself that Tony was a genius.

The arc reactor's core was of radioactive material. That particular material would break down and be forced to spin around and collide with itself.

There was a magnetic field inside which were the charged particles that moved in a circle. The magnetic field was what curved the particles' motion into a circle and kept them in place so that they could collide. The result of which, was gamma rays, a complex radioactive decay, and so much more.

There was a bit more jargon he understood, but to sum it up, the core element was used as a fuel (kind of) and then used to make high-quality energy.

Peter was sure now, he could create this tech. It'd take him some time to figure some stuff out, but he could surely reverse-engineer this thing. Easily; though he might have to find some 'thing' that could be used for this energy to travel since it wouldn't be quite easy for this energy to travel around given its high quality.

After he was done studying it, using some equipment he'd bought since he had plenty of money to spare, Peter started making some sketches. He didn't want Tony complaining about how he stole his style.

He also had to go and summon his suit and go into the customization section to see if it would even work. He was thinking of implementing some tech into his suit, and for that, it was necessary that the suit would even allow such a thing.

Thankfully, the suit had so many customization features that he was left a bit overwhelmed.

Color, design, defense, length, or how the texture of the clothing should feel in general. Now that he was messing around with the customization, Peter remembered that he hadn't really played around with this feature of the suit much. There was so much he could do with it. Say, he could create a superhero or supervillain identity completely away from Spider-Man, with another suit, another set of powers—that he could fake—and a lot of other shit.

Peter put that in the stuff he would do once he had enough time on his hands. Right now, he was sure that Thor had been banished from Asgard—if he considered that events of [Iron Man 2] had already happened; nothing was stopping [Thor] from happening. Better be prepared if something did happen.

It wouldn't be his concern if it didn't come near him, though.

As the design was somewhat finished, Peter grinned from ear to ear, snapping his mind out of the ponderings he was having.
