60: Hulk [03]

Peter and Jennifer were planning on going somewhere else. So, they left the theme park before wandering around aimlessly.

"What ab-"

Just as Jen was about to say something, her phone started ringing. It wasn't her phone, exactly, but the radio she had on her. The thing was so small that it could go unnoticed.

"Hello?" Jen asked. "What happened? Why is so loud there? Why are you huffing? Are you running?"

"W-what?!" Jen exclaimed. "Are you fucking serious?!" she complained.

Jen stopped in her tracks, and Peter took a few steps forward before looking back at her.

"What happened?"

He asked her, curious as to why she'd stopped.

"Fuck,"

Jen cursed, slamming her foot against a bench on the side.

"What happened?"

Peter asked again, his body language changing from careless to serious in a jiffy.

"Banner… my cousin escaped."

Bruce Banner was waiting for the perfect chance to escape this place for a while now.

He didn't know when it would be a perfect time, but he was certain that he'd get a chance to do so.

And Banner was right.

Ross came in, a pissed look on his face, but there was also some sort of bitterness in there somewhere.

"Let me guess," Banner asked, managing to let out a chuckle.

He wasn't really the provoking type, but Banner had a plan.

"Shut up!" Ross snapped at him.

"Betty didn't like this." Banner continued, a sneer on his face.

And he was right.

Ross was pissed.

Really pissed.

After Jennifer left, which he didn't really care about much, Betty came in. She was quite calm at first, but when he refused, again and again, to let out Bruce, saying that Hulk was too dangerous, she left after giving Ross a nasty look.

And that didn't bode well with Ross.

Why was his daughter so stupid?

Why couldn't she understand that this man was dangerous?

Ross stared down at Bruce, who was inside the cell. Ross didn't like this prick at all. It was Banner's fault that his daughter got injured back when the experiment failed. More so, she transformed into a Hulk as well.

Ross had tried everything to make her turn back. Not just temporarily, but permanently. He'd chased down Banner, so he could get ample blood samples, and a subject to test the medicine on. But, Banner was too strong, or more particularly Hulk was too strong.

They weren't able to tame that beast.

At all.

Then, Ross had gone ahead and captured Jennifer Walters, believing that she might have something in her blood that could allow Ross a breakthrough in their research—so that he could change his daughter back into a normal human.

But, Jennifer turned into a Hulk as well, but that didn't give him anything substantial.

He wasn't able to find a 'cure' for his daughter.

That is when particular thought crossed him. Why not use his daughter as the test subject since she was the one he wanted to cure? Maybe there would be some kind of breakthrough?

But no, after he mulled over it for long, Ross couldn't find it in himself to harm his daughter for something that could, or couldn't work.

So he experimented on himself.

He would find the cure at any cost, and his body, his humanity, it was nothing compared to it if he could cure his daughter.

But that didn't do anything substantial either.

So, Ross was back to square one. Find Bruce. No matter what, he had to hand it to Bruce. The man was a genius. Ross hoped that Bruce could develop a cure if he caught him, brought him here, and gave him resources.

Recourses Bruce didn't have on the run.

But capturing Bruce had been quite difficult, and had required all three of them—Ross himself, Betty, and Jennifer.

And if it hadn't been for the medicine he did develop through his countless failures, Ross was sure that Banner wouldn't be here today.

Ross wasn't able to find a cure, sure, but he was close. He developed a drug that was able to transform a Hulk back into a human. Though it was a temporary hold on the beast within, that could come out again if the host was angered again. Or if one goes through a higher heartbeat.

"Banner," Ross sighed, staring at the man he hated so much.

Ross would even ask Banner for help.

For his daughter.

"I want your help."

"Oh?" Banner was surprised.

Banner didn't believe for one second that Ross, General Ross of all people would ask his health. The man had a bit too big an ego for that.

"I want you to work on the project again."

Banner's heart skipped a beat.

"To-"

Ross wanted to continue, but Banner didn't let him.

"You want me to create another monster?!" Banner yelled, slamming his arms on the glass pane. The cell gave a warning sound.

"No, I want you to-"

Ross wanted to tell him that he wanted Banner to make the cure for this, but Banner again didn't let him talk.

"Didn't you have enough after ruining my LIFE?!"

Banner kind of lost control of his temper, and by the end of his sentence, his face was already green and he was transforming.

"I won't let you!"

Banner growled.

"I WON'T LET YOU!"

And transformed into Hulk, shredding out of his clothes before slamming his already clenched fists into the glass.

– Bang!

Hulk's fist made contact with the glass, and it bent slightly before going back to its previous state.

– Bang!

Another fist, this one harder and stronger than the previous one, made an impact with the glass, but it was made to last against a Hulk, so it didn't break.

But this one particular Hulk wasn't a normal joe. His power didn't come from a single little transformation, but from his anger. The angrier he was, the more powerful he became.

And right at this moment, Banner's anger was skyrocketing the more he stared at the face of Ross. A face that was engraved in his mind. This man had ruined his life, and Banner hated him. But he was always in control.

But… How was it that he dared to make Betty and Jen monsters?! How dare he ask him to make another monster?! To ruin someone's life again?!

As Banner's anger kept rising, so did the momentum and force behind his punch.

The glass room released some kind of gas, probably there so that Hulk would be forced to turn back into Banner again. But Hulk held his breath. This time, not only was their anger from Banner inside of him, but he himself was angry.

More so, Banner had given him control over the body willingly, and Banner wasn't trying to control him, trying to keep him at bay, keep him in a cage.

So, the combined anger of Hulk and Banner elicited some sort of reaction from inside their now-shared body. Radiation was being made at a monstrous rate, and Hulk's eyes had started glowing green, emitting a light of their own.

Hulk's body was also starting to release green aura-like smoke from everywhere.

And just like that,

– Bang!

– Crash!

The glass was shattered after minutes of bombardment by Hulk, all while he was being rained by bullets and darts to neutralize him. Some else was being released in the air too, but Banner wasn't breathing.

He was holding his breath.

Banner's brain was functioning, and he was analyzing the situation well, but his body was in Hulk's control. This was a strange amalgamation, something that Banner was sure came with a cost, a cost he would have to pay once everything calms down.

But… Banner was ready to pay any price.

"ROOOOOSSSSSS!" A guttural roar left his throat.

…If it meant that he could stop Ross from ruining more lives.

Shit, shit, shit, shit, shit, shit, shit, fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, shit!

Ross was panicking.

He couldn't transform.

When Hulk broke the glass, the cure he'd made—a failed version that only kept the beast within at bay—had come out, and he'd inhaled it.

Now, Ross couldn't transform.

He would die like this!

Ross's mind worked at full throttle as he ran towards the exit.

"God dammit!" He growled.

He needed to wait for the gas to leave his system, wait for the residuals of the drug to keep Hulk at bay. Only then, would Ross be able to transform.

"GRAAAAAWWWWRRRRR!"

A terrifying roar resounded behind him, and Ross quickly paled as he tapped the radio on his ears again and again.

The alarms in the facility were blaring the loudest they'd ever had.

And Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross was running at the fastest he'd ever had while Hulk was smashing everything behind him into smithereens, making his way towards him.

~"Hello?"~

Jen's voice came from the other side.

"I huff, huff, come, huff," Ross was too breathless to say anything all while he ran for his life.

Hulk was running behind him, and Ross was sure the former was running to kill.

Now, Ross was all in to die and all that for his country.

But he's a bit too young to die for now.

And he has so much to do!

~"What happened? Why is so loud there? Why are you huffing? Are you running?"~

Ross was seething in anger, will this young lady let him talk?!

"Shut the fuck up for a second!" he yelled.

"Banner escaped somehow! The drug isn't working! But I can't transform! Come for help fast! Or I might die!"

~"W-what?!"~

Ross could hear Jen exclaim on the other side.

~"Are you fucking serious?!"~

Her voice was complain-y, but Ross didn't care.

He knew how hard it was for them to capture Hulk for even once, and they were quite badly injured, so forget about doing it a second time.

Ross remembered Jen having the worst injuries of them all.

~"What happened?"~

Another voice sounded from the other side, curiosity lacing it.

~"Fuck,"~

Ross heard her curse while he ran; he was too busy running to turn the radio off.

Apparently, she slammed something, or so he could hear from the other side.

~"What happened?"~

The same voice asked again.

~"Banner… my cousin escaped."~

"You bet he did!" Ross yelled at her. "Now drag your ass over here!"

Jen winced hearing Ross' loud voice over that she cut the call.

Then, she sighed, and stared at Spider-Man.

"Guess our date ends here," she said quite a bit saddened.

"We can always do this again," Spider-Man muttered, drawing closer to her before hugging her by the waist with one hand.

He gave her meaty behind a light slap before rubbing the place. grabbed her meaty behind. Then, he gripped her butt, picking her up in his arm.

"Where to?"

Jen was blushing slightly, though she knew he wouldn't be able to tell due to her skin being green.

So, she silently gave him the location of the facility, which was here in New York, and asked.

"You will help?"

She asked him, a bit hopeful that he might do so. She knew that Hulk was too much for her, Betty, and Ross to control or subdue. But if Spider-Man helped, they might be able to do it.

After all, she remembered how easily Spider-Man was able to defeat Abomination. Even though she'd helped a bit, she knew that if it weren't for him, she wouldn't have been able to defeat Abomination at all.

Abomination was supposed to be stronger than Hulk, or so the files on him told her, but she also knew that those files were old, and Hulk had grown a lot stronger since then. But, her point was, that if Spider-Man was able to defeat Abomination with relative ease, then shouldn't he be able to subdue Hulk as well?

"Is that a question?" Spider-Man asked her as if she were stupid. "You're my date for today; so I'm responsible for you for the day. Like hell, I'm letting you go fight Hulk on your own."

Jen felt her cheeks flushing slightly, as her heartbeat sped up.
