Thank you for 1.6k reads on this book Wattpad readers! Recently got into Mindless Self Indulgence. My favorite song by them is Stalkers (Slit My Wrists) but the song above Bed of Roses is also fantastic.
(Kagome POV)
Once I was certain I was wearing the garment correctly I walked over to Hina who was sitting on a blue cushion with a matching one in front of her. I sat cross legged on it and used a ribbon that I found in my new pockets to tie my hair back.
Hina watched me until I settled and gave her my full attention.
"Before we begin, we need to understand your magic and how it affects you. Tell what you were doing before the change," Hina said.
"That makes sense. I believe that it changed less than 24 hours ago when I was making my way home to get more supplies before the groups next trip. When I got to the..."
I paused as I suddenly realized that I was about to tell someone who isn't exactly a friend about my only way home. If Naraku got this information, he could trap me here.
"I'm guessing you don't trust me enough to tell me what brings you to and from your world?" Hina sighed.
"No, it's not that. I trust you but I know that Naraku still has control over you and your body. I'm not willing to risk putting you in that situation which could cost you your life or worse control over your body. Anyway, when I got to the place that acts as a portal between here and my home, I saw InuYasha and Kikyo kissing very... eagerly. I've known for a while that my crush on him was stupid and mostly based on his physical appearance, but I always thought I had a chance because, well because Kikyo's dead and that thing he's fucking is nothing more than a moving statue. It can't give him warm hugs and kisses or children. It can't give him proper sex- it can't give him anything and yet he chose IT over ME! Something dead that should be fertilizer in someone's garden over me a living breathing human being!" I took a moment to recollect myself before continuing.
"So, once I realized this, I felt myself change, like I had matured. I walked over and for the first time I spoke up for myself and insulted him. I went home put on some more reasonable clothes since I no longer cared about dressing to impress and I realized I had forgotten the reason I kept coming back to this world. To stop a crow demon from using the Shikon jewel I shot it with an arrow. Since it was my first time using one a hit the jewel and it shattered into a thousand pieces. I felt responsible for the mess I decided I would do everything in my power to bring those shards back together. When I returned, we all left to come and collect the shards from the demons on this island. Since it was in the sky, I broke the barrier with an arrow and that was when we realised my magic was red instead of light blue," I finished my explanation and was surprised when I felt a weight lift off my shoulders.
Hina was silent as she absorbed what I told her. Then she pulled a bundle of scrolls out of no where. She checked the labels on them before opening it and spreading it on the floor between us.
"This scroll contains information about all the known types of magic," She explained.
"There's more than one?"
"Yes, and you can usually tell by the color. Blue is Pure or Light magic which is used for a lot of things and has a lot of sub categories, green is earth magic used usually used for gardening, black is Tainted or Dark magic another one that has plenty of sub categories, purple is Jealous or Evil magic, pink is Sex or Love magic and red is usually Vengeance magic. You can read the scrolls later for now I'm going to teach you about blue, red and purple magic," She explained pushing the other scrolls aside.
"Alright I'm all ears,"
"So, first of there's blue magic. Blue magic is considered Pure or Light magic because only those who have pure intentions use it. The magic appears light blue almost whit when it is being used for things like healing others, Mother Magic and cleaning. It can be used for almost anything except harming someone,"
"I'm assuming Mother Magic is magic used to protect the baby before birth, help with the birth and help calm the baby and is why babies always recognize their mum?"
"Yes. Dark blue magic can be used as both offence and defence magic. Usually against demons or when the user is trying to knock their foe out in order to end the battle or escape bad situations. It can also be used for almost anything except harming someone. This is the magic you used before the change. Right now, your magic is red which means Vengeance magic. I'm assuming you want to enact vengeance on InuYasha and Kikyo?" she paused.
"More or less I guess I do want to make them understand how they hurt me," I replied uncertainly.
Hina nodded, "That's fine. It's perfectly normal and safe to feel that way but you still need to be careful. You don't want to use purple magic. As I said before it's Jealous and Evil magic. Very dangerous. It's the magic that Naraku uses. He's like that because he was jealous that Kikyo chose InuYasha over him. Now he wants to kill them both. Don't let yourself fall like he did."
I nodded my understanding.
We spent the next 30 minutes going over the different magics and talking about how intent can change everything. We discussed how magics can mix depending on the situation and the casters reaction to it.
TIME SKIP
I walked to the rooms where the group was staying. I slid the door open and everyone looked up.
"Oh Kagome! How is the training going?" Sango asked standing up to hand me half of a wrap that I had packed.
"Thanks Sango. It's very informative," I took a bit of my snack when I heard a snort.
I gave InuYasha a look before ignoring him completely as I told the others who were equally interested about what I was learning.
"When I go back, we're going to start with meditation to see if I can find my core," I finished.
"Really? Do you think I could do that? My mom used to tell me that once you find your core it becomes easier to control your abilities!" Shippo asked excitedly.
"I don't know but I'll be sure to find out," I told him.
"Really!? You're the best Kagome!" he squealed as he launched at me for a hug.
I squeezed him tight before setting him down. I listened to Sango and Miroku as they explained a strategy to deal with the Spring Demons before heading back to the training room. When I slid the door open it looked exactly how it did when I left. I walked over to Hina and sat back down on my cushion.
"Alright we're going to begin with meditation as it is the easiest way to find your core for the first time. Relax, you can close your eyes or lay on the floor whatever is most comfortable. Good now clear your mind to the best of your abilities. A stray thought may cross your mind but don't hold onto it, be in the moment," Hina spoke in a voice that was not quiet a whisper but was surprisingly soothing.
I laid back onto the floor in a star fish position. I let my mind wander never focusing on a thought long enough to tense back up or feel agitated. After laying there for a while I slowly felt myself sinking into myself. When I opened my eyes, I was no longer in the room. I was in a forest staring at a tree like the one InuYasha was on when I first saw him. I walked towards it slowly and placed my palm on the ancient trunk.
"Why would this represent my core?"
I placed my other hand on the trunk and felt a cool gust of wind come form the forest. Like it was exhaling and letting something go. It was calming but-
I heard movement behind me, so I turned to the left.
"Hello? Oh, who am I kidding I'm the only person here. Maybe it was a guardian that my mind made to protect my core?"
There was more rustling on the other side, so I whipped my head in the opposite direction. I felt my self tense up and my thoughts were starting to go a mile a minute. I was no longer calm or relaxed. The forest fell beneath me and I was suddenly aware of the floor I was laying on again.
"Agh!"
Hina rushed to my side.
"Are you alright? Did you make it?"
I shook her off as I became aware of how heavy I was breathing.
"I- there was- everything went smoothly, and I did release my core but... there was something else out there- in here- er me? I heard something but I never saw it. The noises started after the release. And now... now I can't help but feel like something is missing."
"I've never heard of something like that, at least when it comes to humans... I'll have to research further. Let's move on."
We were moving on to proper training now that she had explained the theoretical. It was time to get serious.
(Sango POV)
I glanced up from my card game with Miroku and Shippo as I heard another huff. InuYasha was not taking Kagome's new attitude very well. He spent the whole time alternating between glaring at the door and muttering under his breath most likely insulting Kagome.
I sighed as I wondered for the millionth time why I decided to stay with the group. It was fun in the beginning but once Kikyo came back, the group slowly fell a part along with Kagome who was the glue that held us together. Miroku may be annoying with his wandering hands and flirting but now it's mostly a joke that brings a sense of nostalgia. I know he would never try anything with me because he understands.
InuYasha on the other hand does not get how his actions are hurting the group. I'm starting to understand why Sesshomaru dislikes him. As a matter or fact I'm sure that if InuYasha wasn't such an ass they could have a civil relationship with one another. He saved Rin's life for goodness sake! A human. The fact that he's a half-demon is only made worse by his attitude towards everyone.
"Sango do you have any threes?"
"Go fish Shippo."
If- no when InuYasha asks us all to pick a side, him or Kagome without a doubt I'm choosing my best friend and sister Kagome.
Hey guys! I know it's been 2 months since I posted the edited version of chapter four and I'm terribly sorry for that. I'm just struggling with doing school at home. I also had several important things to do for science class and that took priority. But I have a tutor now and she is kind of also my life coach I guess so things are looking up... Any way now that I've posted this I can focus on editing the next chapters which should go quicker.
Take care of yourselves alright?
Reviews are appreciated.
