Santana was walking next to Quinn on their way to Glee. They had been closer after dinner at Santana's house. Her parents had loved Quinn, and wanted to support her in any way they could. So did Santana, so she went out to buy something for her.
"I got something for you," Santan said as they kept walking.
"Really?" Quinn asked, surprised.
"Yeah, don't be mad. I just want to support whatever decision you make, but I want to show you all of the options," Santana said, taking a book out of her bag. "Here, I saw it at the bookstore and I figured I'd buy it for you." She handed Quinn the book about teen parents.
"That is so sweet," Quinn said, a smile on her face. Santana was glad Quinn wasn't mad at her for the gesture. She had figured Quinn would feel like she was pressuring her to keep the baby. "To be honest, I really don't know what I'm gonna do about it anymore. My mind's pretty messed up about everything." Quinn said as they came to a stop at the door of the choir room.
"Well, whatever you decide. I'm here for you, no pressure." Santana said reassuringly.
They both entered the choir room. Quinn sat on one of the chairs, away from everyone, and Santana sat by the piano with the rest of the Glee club. Quinn sat there, planning in her head. She wanted to give Santana a chance, she was after all the baby's other mom, but she wouldn't be able to do it with Finn being aware of her every step, she needed to distract him. She figured Rachel Berry could be that distraction, but the girl needed a makeover first. She would need to have a little chat with Kurt.
Santana was once again in the hallway watching yet another weird moment between Finn and Rachel. What the hell was Rachel wearing? She swore she had seen her just yesterday wearing a freaking pantsuit, where was this style coming from? And how was Quinn still with this dude? He couldn't even formulate a word because he was busy staring at Rachel's boobs. How could he look at another girl while he had Quinn? Did they plan a date? How could he do that? His girlfriend is pregnant, and he's going on dates with other women. What Quinn ever saw in him was a mystery to Santana.
She then saw Finn walking towards Quinn to have a short conversation. Quinn seemed pleased with it, and walked towards Santana, who averted her gaze so Quinn wouldn't know she had been staring.
"Hey. What are you doing on Friday?" Quinn asked, excited.
"Just the usual," Santana said, not trying to let her know she clearly had nothing interesting to do. Now that she gave up partying, her Friday nights were extremely boring, so were her weekends. "Why, what's going on?"
"You wanna maybe babysit with me?" Quinn asked. Santana found she looked extremely cute, she couldn't say no. She smiled and nodded as her response.
Okay, so babysitting was not as easy as they had thought. The children were a nightmare. How they ended up tied up in chairs was a mystery to the girls. Quinn was struggling to free them while Santana was cracking her head for an idea. She needed to think of a way to tire the children out. She needed to show Quinn that she could do this. What did she do as a child? She would always go to the park, but that was out of the question since it was late. She didn't have siblings so she really didn't know what to do on this situation.
"I told you we should have been the cowboys," Quinn complained as she struggled against the ropes.
"I'm sorry, I thought being the cowboys would tire them out," Santana muttered, still deep in thought.
"What are we gonna do about this?" Quinn's question was ignored as Santana was trying to think. "What are you doing?" Quinn hit her chair against Santana's to get her attention.
"Nothing, I'm just thinking,"
"Well, stop that and help me with this knot, I've almost got it."
Santana decided it was a good idea to help her as she did not want to be screamed at. While trying to untie the knot, their hands tangled together and they both stopped moving. Then the children interrupted again by flipping the table over.
"Stop that. Not the table!" Quinn shouted as she stood up. "Think of something!" She shouted at Santana next.
At that moment Santana thought of what seemed like a great idea. "I have something in my car, wait here a second." And with that she bolted out of the house.
"When I told you to think of something, I meant something useful." Quinn said, confused and irritated.
Santana was only slightly offended by Quinn's comment. She had to admit, her idea was a little bit weird. She had come inside the house with a cardboard box and a ball. Then she hurriedly went inside the kitchen and got a pair of scissors and started to make a hole in the box. She could hear the children screaming in the living room still. "Trust the process." Santana said, concentrating on the box.
"O-okay," Quinn said, still confused.
"It's ready," Santana said, walking toward the kids. "Shut up!" She shouted to gain their attention. The kids immediately stopped screaming and running to look at her. "If you can win this game I'll let you eat candy," she said.
"Santana, what are you doing?" Quinn hissed next to her.
"Trust the process," Santana repeated. Quinn looked unsure, but let her continue. "Deal?" She directed the question to the kids. The three red-headed children nodded, excited. "Okay, you get five tries each, and if you lose you will shower and go to bed. Okay?" The kids once again nodded.
Quinn was skeptical, it was a very simple game. They just had to get the ball through a hole. They were for sure going to win. But her doubts started going away as she saw them fail time and time again. They ran out of throws and asked for more chances. Santana gave them five more each, and they still lost. When the three of them made a line towards the bathroom to shower, she was highly surprised.
"How did you do that?" Quinn asked once they were sitting alone on the couch.
"It was really easy, my dad used to do that all the time. Make games that I simply couldn't win so I'd do what he wanted. I mean the hole wasn't big enough for the ball to go through it. And they wanted the candy so bad that they didn't even realize." Santana explained.
"Thank you," Quinn said, looking Santana in the eyes.
"Thank you for inviting me. I liked doing this with you, even if it was a disaster at first. Next time just one kid?" Santana asked.
"Next time it will be our kid." Quinn said. Santana smiled really big. Quinn noticed how her eyes seemed to shine, and how both her dimples were showing, not just the left one that showed up when she smirked.
"Does that mean-" Santana's question was cut off by some noises at the front door.
When Terri and her sister showed up at the door, they were surprised to see that the kids were not in the living room. When asked about them, the girls just motioned to the room where the kids were sleeping, and followed the two women. They both stood stunned at the doorway, looking at the children sleeping peacefully.
"I think this is the first time they have all been asleep at the same time." Kendra, Terri's sister, said. She sounded impressed. "What's that smell?" She then asked.
"Soap," Quinn stated simply, hand on her baby bump.
"You got them to take a bath?" Terri asked next. She sounded both surprised and angry.
"Mm-hm," Quinn affirmed.
"What are you, an exorcist?" Kendra asked, now mocking.
All the while Santana just stood there as silent support. Analyzing the situation in front of her, the two older women were clearly pissed. She didn't want her kid anywhere near them. Quinn looked extremely pleased with herself, like she had accomplished something important. And maybe she had. Maybe they had proven they could do this.
"I told her I'm gonna keep her," Quinn said. She and Santana were in the hallway. That was the first thing she said to her.
"What?" Santana asked, confused.
"I told Mrs. Schuester that I'm keeping her." Quinn explained.
"Oh, shit." Santana was surprised.
"You're not happy?" Quinn asked, worried.
"No, no. I'm happy. I just need a second," Santana said. She did it. She convinced Quinn that she could be a good mother. A big grin appeared on her face, and she wrapped Quinn in a hug. She then picked her up and twirled her around. Quinn squealed. They knew it had gotten the attention of the rest of the school, but they were happy. Santana then set her down, but didn't stop hugging her.
"I promise I'm not gonna fuck up." She muttered against Quinn's shoulder.
All Quinn wanted was for that to be true.
I know it's been a while, but here it is. I'm not proud of this chapter at all. I actually think it sucks. But I had a hard time with this one, I'm hoping next one is better.
