Harry was walking out of the courtroom. He was happy that the Wizegamount announced that he was cleared of all charges, but still angry a Fudge for not believing that he was attacked by dementors. Fifth year at Hogwarts was looking to be just as bad as all the others. "Mr. Potter! Mr. Potter!" Harry stopped and looked to Mr.Weasley who answered the man calling for Harry. "Hello Lord Greengrass. How may we help you?" Lord Greengrass smiled tightly, "Hello Lord Weasley. I was wondering if I could have a moment of Mr. Potter's time?" Harry looked between Mr. Weasley and Lord Greengrass, "Mr. Weasley could you just wait for me by the lifts?" Mr. Weasley frowned, "Are you sure Harry?" At this Harry nodded and gave a small smile. Lord Greengrass saw the hesitation, "I assure you Lord Weasley it won't take long."
Mr. Weasley walked away and Lord Greengrass led Harry into a small office. On the way they passed Lucius Malfoy who not only nodded to Lord Greengrass but also Harry. Harry was confused at the politeness but continued on. They arrived at the office and Lord Greengrass applied privacy wards. "What did you need Lord Greengrass?" Harry inquired politely. Lord Greengrass smiled, "Call me Xavier, Mr. Potter." Harry smiled, "Call me Harry." Xavier smiled but furrowed his brows, "Harry… why did you not have a solicitor with you? Surely using your heirship as Heir Potter would have cleared this mess up quicker. I dare say after the tournament you were forced into last year you should actually be emancipated and be able to claim your Lord Ship."
Harry starred at Xavier and asked slowly. "I'm not quiet sure what you're referring to sir." Xavier looked bewildered. "Well surely someone has explained this to you? You are the last Potter. It is your duty and right to claim your Heirship or Lord Ship." Harry shook his head. "I have never been told any of this sir." Xavier sighed. "Harry… I'm sorry. I thought you would have been taught this. Even growing up with muggles someone should have made you aware of this. I tell you what. Go to Gringotts and request the Potter account manager. They will be able to walk you through everything and let you know if you are able to claim the Lordship. Either way you will claim Heirship no doubt. Of course with Lord Black being a fugitive…. Which is beyond me. He could've insisted on a trial—"
Harry's eyes widened and interrupted Xavier. "You're saying Sirius is Lord Black? But he was burned off the tapestry?!" Xavier chuckled "Oh Sirius… surely he realized that wouldn't stick. I tell you what—" Xavier produced a piece of parchment and wrote a quick note before handing it to Harry. "I assume you can contact Sirius?" Harry nodded hesitantly "Great! Deliver this to him and he will know what to do. Then take yourself to Gringotts as I instructed. You must claim your House Harry. It is very important for situations such as these. You'd have political backing and legal representation. I wont keep you any longer but do owl if you need me." Harry shook his hand and thanked him before joining Arthur at the lifts. Arthur, never one to pry, just smiled at Harry and directed him back to headquarters. Clutching the letter in the pocket of his robes, Harry thought 'maybe things won't be so bad after all'.
—
Soon Arthur and Harry arrived via floo into the sitting room of headquarters. Harry stumbled out and was caught by his godfather. "So? What happened?" Sirius asked as he bounced on the balls of his feet. Harry rubbed a hand on the back of his neck. "Let's get everyone in the kitchen and I'll explain why it seemed to take so long." Sirius sighed but called for Dobby to gather everyone.
Harry made his way into the kitchen where everyone was getting seated. Order members such as McGonagall, Kingsley, Tonks, Mundungus Fletcher, Mad-eye, and Dumbledore were gathered at one end of the long table. Arthur, Molly, Fred, George, Ron, Ginny, Hermione, Sirius, and Remus sat at the opposite end. Hermione smiled at Harry then frowned. "What are you wearing?" A few people, including the Weasley children, turned to Harry. Harry blushed, "They are House of Potter robes. I was representing my house at my hearing." Hermione furrowed her brows. "Isn't that a pureblood thing? Like the Malfoy's do to look important?"
Sirius cleared his throat, "Harry is the last of the Ancient and Noble House of Potter. Which not only makes him, as you say, important but also shows his pride, maturity, professionalism. It's not something to look down on." Hermione went to speak again but Dumbledore stood. "Well, shall we discuss the hearing today?" Everyone looked to Harry but Dumbledore spoke again, "I arrived in time to defend Harry and brought forth the eye witness—" Before he could continue Remus spoke up, "Maybe we should allow Harry to tell everyone, since it was his hearing and therefore he can chose which parts to inform us of?"
Dumbledore seemed flustered, but sat down, motioning for Harry to pick up where he left off. Harry blinked, "Right… well, as you know, I was brought to the ministry for a hearing. There were about 20 members of the Wizegamount—" murmurs of 'full trial?' And 'ridiculous' were heard. "I explained that my muggle cousin and I were chased by two dementors and I used my patronus to drive them away." Tonks gasped, "You can do a patronus?" Harry nodded slowly. "Oh! Oh! What is it??" Tonks asked excitedly. Harry laughed at her childlike manner. "A stag." Tonks smiled but Molly jumped into the conversation. "Dementors?! Near your home?!"
Harry nodded face severe. "Yes, it seems that some people had trouble believing it even with the eye-witness statement. Anyways Fudge kept getting angrier until Professor Dumbledore pointed out in life threatening situations magic can be used. So, Madam Bones decided to call the vote then. 18 agreed to drop the charges and 2 were against it. Fudge had no choice but to dismiss me, but not before threatening me, saying that I won't keep getting away with things. Like I asked to be hunted by Voldemort or to be the bloody boy-who-lived!"Harry took a breath and looked at the stunned faces before sitting down. "Sorry… Bad day yeah?"
Soon everyone began chattering and passing food back and forth. Tonks, using her metamorphis magic, turned her nose into a pig snout and then into a duck bill, making the teens and some adults laugh loudly. When it came time for the Order meeting, Molly insisted all of the kids leave, including Fred and George who were of age. Sirius attempted to stop Molly, "Harry is my family. If I want him to leave, I will tell him so." Molly t her hands on her hips and spat, "he's just a boy! He's not James! You cannot use him as a replacement!"
Sirius stood, wand out as Remus tried to get him back in his seat. His face darkened and his voice was cold, "I know who he is Molly. I know I can never replace James, but he is just as much mine as he was James and Lily's! Me and Remus helped raise him as a babe." Harry stood and put a hand on Sirius' shoulder, "I'll go Sirius. You'll just tell me later anyways." Harry turned to Molly, face fierce and voice devoid of any emotion, "But if you think you can act like my mother, you are mistaken. You have been gracious enough to allow me in your home, but I will not allow you to speak of my godfather that way again. You have no right. You do not know him and you didn't know my father." Tonks stood and looked to Sirius, "I expect you to tell me too. I'm going with Harry."
Sirius turned to Dumbledore once the teens and Tonks left. "Any sightings of Peter?" Dumbledore frowned, "I'm afraid not my boy. If we can get our hands on him, you will get your trial." Molly bristled, likely to object, but Dumbledore carried on. "Now some of you remember from the last war the reason the Potter's went into hiding. A prophecy was made and we feared that it pertained to not only Voldemort but young Harry. I cannot in good conscience speak of the exact details of the prophecy but the gist is that Harry would be Voldemort's undoing. Now, the Death Eater who overhead this prophecy, nearly 15 years ago, only heard the beginning. Voldemort will do anything to obtain the other. That is why I propose we station guards, invisibly, near the Department of Mysteries 24/7. We'll set a rotation schedule. You, of course Sirius and Remus, will not be involved." Molly stood, "And just why won't they?" Severus Snape drawled, "Well, one is a wanted criminal who is on the run from said ministry and the other is a werewolf who, because of the laws in place, cannot legally be within the ministry without specific permission or St. Mungos at this date and time. It would unfortunately be suicide." The meeting continued on with suggestion for individual safety precautions for families and locations for safe houses. Soon Sirius found his house empty and retired to the library for a glass of fire whiskey and a book to help quiet his mind.
——
Harry walked down the darkened hallways of Grimmauld Place, Headquarter of the Order of the Phoenix, and the ancesteral Black home. Coming to a stop, he peered into the large library, and spotted his godfather sitting in a wingback chair, in front of the fire. Knocking on the door frame, Harry waited patiently. Sirius' head popped up and a smile graced his once grim face. "Hey pup! Come in. Sit down." Harry smiled and sat in the chair opposite of his godfather. "Hey padfoot. I uhh have a letter here for you. It's from Xavier Greengrass. I ran into him after my trial. I didn't want to give it to you around so many people so I waited up for everyone to be asleep." Harry smiled sheepishly.
Sirius frowned and took the letter. Inside contained information from Lord Greengrass stating that only Sirius' Uncle Alpharad at the time, had the ability to disinherit members of the Black family. Simply burning them off the family tapestry was just a very dramatic display on his mother's part. In so, it would seem, Sirius is the last Black and is able to claim his Lordship. Once he has accepted his Lordship he would have the ability to hire a solicitor and request a full Wizegamount trial for his freedom. Sirius sat gobsmacked before erecting privacy wards and quietly asked. Harry. "Did he explain to you what he was writing to me?"
Harry shrugged then nodded, "Briefly. From what I gather you can claim your Lordship and rightfully request a trial. He also said something about me claiming my heirship but that I might be able to claim my Lordship because of the Triwizard Tournament. He suggested I make a trip to Gringotts to have it sorted out." Sirius furrowed his brow. "Why did he decide to tell you about this? And why didn't you already know this?" Harry looked down at his feet fidgeting. "Well he said if I have anymore incidents like today, I would have political and legal backing. No one has every told me about any of this stuff. I didn't know I had to claim heir or Lord or head of house or whatever. I just knew I was the last Potter and had a key to my vault. I've barely touched it though. I wanted to make sure it would last all 7 years of school. Otherwise I'd finally stop wearing Dudley's hand-me-downs."
Sirius smacked his own forehead. "For the love of Merlin… someone should have explained this to you. Dumbledore, or McGonagall, or hell the trope of pureblood Weasley's you seem so found of." Harry just kept his head down. "I'm sorry Sirius." Sirius side and crouched in front of Harry, one hand on his shoulder, and the other on his cheek. "Hey pup look at me. None of this is your fault. This is the fault of the adults in your life. Which now includes me. I tell you what, I'll owl Gringotts and set up an appointment. Now, we'll have to sneak away, but I hear you're pretty good at that." At this Harry smiled. "Ahh well you get it honest. Your father didn't go anywhere without that cloak." Sirius chuckled. "Come on pup, lets get some sleep. A long boring day of paperwork will await us."
——
While Sirius went to his study to compose a letter to Gringotts, Harry continued on to his bedroom. When he entered, he found Ron and Hermione perched on his bed. "Why didn't you tell us you were hurt Harry?! Or that dementors attacked you?!" Hermione screeched. Harry winced and went to reply but Ron jumped in, "And Sirius acted like you don't trust us! Like we're not your best mates! He send my brothers to care for you and won't let us even see you! I thought you got over the misunderstanding—"
Harry finally had enough and shoved Ron away. "Misunderstanding?! That's rich! I told. You before my name came out of the bloody cup that I wanted nothing to do with it and then after I told you I didn't do it! You think I didn't hear you whine to Hermione about me having money and fame that I don't even fucking want because I only have because my parents were murdered by the same psycho who's after me! Then you told everyone who'd listen that I was lying, that I could've at least told you how I did it. Until a dragon almost killed me of course. This summer was awful. Voldemort kidnapped me. Cedric died. You two didn't even write me!"
Hermione frowned and touched Harry's arm, making him flinch. "We wanted to write to you, but Professor Dumbledore told us it wasn't safe." Harry shook her off. "Really, because Sirius did. Remus did. Fred and George did." Just then, twin pops filled the air and red and George stood behind Harry. "What's" "the matter" "Little Raven?" They asked. Harry frowned but ignored them to ask Hermione, "Is following your Headmaster, outside of school, more important then checking the safety of a friend?" Ron sputtered, "That's ridiculous Potter and has nothing to do with this!" While Hermione said, "Professor Dumbledore knows what is best Harry."
Fred wrapped an arm around Harry's shoulder while George squeezed his hand. "Obviously you care more about following rules." Fred sneered at Hermione before turning to Ron. "And you act as if only you can play victim." Harry sighed. "It's alright Fred." Ron gaped, "How do you know the difference?! Even mom doesn't!"
Harry growled, "Because I'm a real friend. Because I care. Because I pay attention. Like Fred is the one with more pent up energy that can't sit still while George is relaxed on the outside with a fire inside burning. Their voices are different. Their freckles are different. They like different things. It's not that hard. I learned first year." Harry looked at Fred and then George, "Can I bunk with you?" George smile gently, "Of course Raven." With a pop all three were gone, leaving a sorrowful Hermione and angry Ron behind. That night Harry slipped into a dreamless sleep in the arms of two brothers who would walk through fire for him or die trying.
Fred slowly opened his eyes to be greeted by striking green eyes. Yawning, Fred smoother the hair away from Harry's face and whispered, "G'morning" Harry nuzzled his nose into Fred's collar bone and murmured back a greeting. George stirred awake beside Harry and ran a hand down Harry's side. "Morning little one." Harry turned to glare at George. Fred laughed quietly, "Oi, Georgie! I don't think he liked that." George smirked, "Hmm… no Freddie, he didn't. How can I make it up to you?" Harry pouted until George kissed him softly. Fred ran his hands along Harry's chest and kissed his shoulder until Harry turned and gave him a kiss.
"What are we?" Harry asked quietly, as if he was afraid of the answer. Fred looked to George who answered, "We are yours, just as you are ours." Harry blushed but smiled. Soon the smiled turned into a frown and Harry chewed his lip."I've never— never been in a relationship. What if I screw up or don't pay enough attention to one of you or make one jealous of the other?" Fred sighed, "Being twins, Georgie and I do not get jealous. We're use to sharing everything. Clothiers, beds, friends. We can easily share you too."
Harry snuggled in more but groaned. "Sirius will probably be looking for me. We. Have something to do… Hey! If I tell you when, could you create a distraction? We. Need to slip out for a bit." The twins frowned but nodded. He'd tell them when he was ready.
——
Harry made his way to Sirius' room to see about their plans. Passing Ron's room he hear furious whispers. "You will fix this! You must keep on his good side and keep him away from those rotten twins!" That was Mrs. Weasley… "I tried last night! He got all angry.. Blaming me and Hermione for stuff and. The twins heard hi yelling and popped him away before I could come up with a plan" And that— that was Ron… Why was Mrs. Weasley so set on us being friends? Harry heard rustling and quickly found his way to Sirius again. He'd have to think more on that later.
Sirius was standing at his mirror in just a pair of nice trousers, pulling his long hair into a deep red ribbon. The tattoos on is chest covered almost every inch and flowed down his arms onto his hands and fingers. "Hey pup. Hurry and shut the door." Harry did as told and sat down while Sirius put up privacy charms.
While pulling on a shirt and buttoning it, Sirius began, "I received an owl back from the Black account manger who is also the Potter account manager. He sent a port key for 11 that will drop us right into his office so that I am not spotted and then will bring us back where we started. Now the goblin's name is Borgod. You will want to speak plainly but politely. Bow to him when entering and leaving. Just watch and listen today and you'll learn what to do for the next time."
Harry nodded along and swallowed. This all seem like.. a lot. Sirius, noticing the shift in Harry's demeanor, hugged him to his side. "It'll be okay Harry. They won't turn me in with the gold I can pay and it'll be tedious and a lot of information but I'll be there to help."
Harry smiled and stood to leave. "I need to shower… You wouldn't happen to have any nice clothes I could borrow… would you?" Sirius paused, thinking. "I'll see what I can find while you shower. I probably have some clothes in my old wardrobe from before I run away." Sirius headed out to let Remus know their plans and find clothes for Harry while he took a long, hot shower, not knowing how much his life would change today.
—-
Harry stood in the Black family library. Sirius found him some black slacks, a white button down with an emerald tie, and onyx cuff links. Overtop he wore his House of Potter robes. Sirius helped smooth his long hair back into a ribbon, much like his own. Fred and George stared at Harry blinking as they approached. "Bloody hell! Are those dragon hide boots?" Fred asked. George laughed and bowed to Harry, "You look ravishing sir." Harry bristled and hissed, "Knock it off you parts! Are you ready?" The twins grinned mischievously and went to explain but a scream was heard through the house. "That's our cue. See you later boys. Remember ward the door!" Sirius held out a small rope, and once Harry grasped it, he tapped it with his wand and they spun out of site.
Harry stumbled, but was saved from falling by Sirius. "Bloody portkeys." Harry swore. Sirius chuckled and turned to the goblin, bowing. Harry followed, "Borgod thank you for agreeing to the precautionary measures. You will be rewarded handsomely." Borgod bowed his head, "Of course Mr. Black. Let us first commence with the acceptance of your Lordship." Pointing at Sirius, "And you Mr. Potter." Pointing to Harry. "So it's true? He's was emancipated because of the tournament contract?" Sirius questioned. The goblin waved his hand and a piece of parchment appeared on his desk. "Come sit Mr. Potter. This document is of course just a formality to publish with the ministry for legal purposes. Since the Goblet of Fire is indeed a magical binding contract, you were declared an adult, but you must still sign the appropriate documents for them to update. Once this is complete, you are free to claim your Lordships."
Harry blinked owlishly, "Lordships? As in multiple?" Borgod grinned sharkishly. "Of course after the a line test we will confirm which Houses you are indeed entitled to." Harry quickly read the form and signed it. A swirl of magic crept around him and he felt something snap inside of him. Looking to Sirius for an answer Sirius replied, "That was your trace leaving you. You can preform magic without alerting the ministry now. I'm guessing even with you being emancipated months ago it is not put into affect with the ministry until this paper is signed." At this Borgod nodded, agreeing.
Borgod held out a dagger and a piece of parchment. "Mr. Potter if you would please place three drops of blood onto the parchment." Harry complied, slicing his fingertip and allowing the blood to drip onto the paper. When finished, Sirius healed his cut and cleaned the dagger. Borgod waved a hand muttering a spell then lines began shift front the blood, forming words. Borgod healed up the paper, nodding. "It seems Mr. Potter, you are able to claim Lordship of Peverell, and Potter." Pulling out a sheet of parchment from a file that appeared on his desk Borgod handed it to Harry. "You are required to take an oath for the House of Potter and the House of Peverell."
Harry raised his wand and the oath of the House of Potter first. Swallowing he read aloud with his wand raised, "I Harry James Potter, Heir to the House of Potter, do so swear on my life and magic to take up the mantel as Lord and Head of the House of Potter and all that it entails." Magic swirled inside Harry, wrapping his magical core in the equivalent of a warm hug. It felt like home. Red and gold swirled his vision and his body shook before it finally settled. Borgod held out a small black box. Inside lay a golden ring with a lion holding a sword embossed on it. Slipping the ring on his right ring finger, it shrunk to size, emitting a gold glow.
Next Harry repeated the process for the House of Peverell, minus the ring. Borgod sneered before stating, "Apologies Lord Potter, the ring will be with you before you leave today. I've sent a team to retrieve it when I received your owl. It was tainted with Dark Magic that we are working on removing. Let us move on to Lord Black while we wait. You may look over the Potter and Peverell file." Harry retrieved the file and moved off to the side into a chair by the door while Sirius took his place at the desk. Sirius took the wand oath and received his Lordship ring. Looking at Harry with tears in his eyes Harry thought to himself 'yes things will be very different from now on.'
