Chapter: Two
Sirius's POV
By the time we reached the Gryffindor portrait it was already really late and I didn't want to wake Hermione up yet so I quietly told the Fat Lady the password and made my way into the common room. Without looking to fully see if there was anyone still in the common room at this time I made my way over to the stairs and up to my dorm room.
" How did your meeting with - " Prongs started to say but stopped as soon as he looked over at me from his bed " Is... Is that your little sister? " Prongs asks with so much confusion in his voice and when looked over at Moony and Wormtail they also looked confused
" Yeah this is my baby sister Hermione... Ummm I'm gonna put her down and then I can answer some of your questions! So your not sitting around looking like idiots " I quietly said and without waiting for a response from anyone I walked over to my bad and placed the suit case next to my night stand. Then I pulled the blankets back and as gently as I can placed Hermione on the bed and covered her up then I placed a silencing charm around the bed just in case everyone gets too loud
" Ummmm Sirius? You gonna explain why you have your sister here? " Moony calmly asks while looking at Hermione for a little and then back at me
" Something really bad happened to her at home and my Father has something he needs to take care of and doesn't want to leave Hermione alone or with someone he doesn't trust... Which is basically everyone except me and Reg so he came here and asked if she can stay here until he gets things sorted and she can go back home " I explain as simply as I could without giving too much information away
" I didn't think Professor Dumbledore allowed small kids in the school " Wormtail quietly mumbles and I couldn't help but slightly glare at him
" It did take him a while to convince Dumbledore into letting Hermione stay here " I said with some anger in my voice looking right at Peter making sure he knew I heard what he said and then I looked to everyone else trying not to take all my anger out on Peter... Again!
" But what about classes? " Prongs quickly asks trying to keep the peace which almost made me laugh at the thought cause Moony is always the one to keep the peace in our group.
" She'll be with Dumbledore until after our last class of the day and me or Reg can go get her from him " I explained a little more
" Well while she's here we should probably hold off on the pranks or at least not over do them... Some of them can be a little too much for a little kid " Moony calmly says while looking mainly at me and Prongs
" I can handle that... I guess... " Prongs says after a couple of minutes with a calm face but we all know he's silently pouting at not being able to do some of the pranks we have planned for the Slytherin's.
" I agree with you I don't think Mia would like seeing her other big brother get hurt in any way... We can still pull pranks on Slytherin's but we just need to leave Reg out of them or if you can't help it and he still gets caught in a prank we just need to make sure Mia doesn't see any of it happen! " I say and after everyone agreed with this plan on our pranks for the time being everyone went back to doing what ever they were doing before I came back. I went back over to my bed and grabbed the small suit case and softly placed it on the bed and got out Hermione's night gown, teddy bear, book and both her potions then placed them on the bed and closed the suit case before putting it back on the floor. Then I looked over at Hermione not wanting to wake her up but I know I have to so she can take the muscle relaxer and to also put on her night gown so she's more comfortable. With that thought I go over and sit next to Hermione and lightly shake her and leaned down a little bit " Mia... Come on Mia I need you to wake up for me " I calmly whisper in her ear
" mmmm... Siri? " Hermione mumbles while rubbing her little eyes
" You still need you to take your muscle relaxer... Okay? " I softly say and after she nods I help her sit up and then grabbed the right potion " How many sips does Father have you take? " I ask while taking the topper of the bottle
" Daddy says a couple sips " Hermione shyly whispers after she looks around the room and notices others in the room as well and I just nod and hand the potion bottle to Hermione and after she takes the potion I take the bottle back and places it on the best side table, I wait a couple of minutes to make sure the potion works.
" Now... Lets you in you in your night gown shall we? " I ask with a small smile on my face hoping it will calm her down a little
" After can you read me a story? " Hermione asks with her puppy eyes
" I would love to read you a story my little Mia " I say with so much excitement in my voice that is brought a really big smile to her face that just made happy to see her this excited; After I got Hermione ready for the night I gave her teddy bear and then I put her on the bed and tucked under the covers and I grabbed the book from the end of the bed and I sat on the bed next to her. " Are you ready Mia? " I ask while opening the book to page one.
" I ready! " Hermione excitedly says as she cuddles into me with her teddy bear held tightly to her " Ummmm Siri? " Hermione adds before I could started reading
" What is it Mia? " I gently ask her while set the book down a little and looked over to her
" W-Where are you sl-sleeping? " Mia asks with a little bit of fear in her voice and I can understand where this is coming from... Hermione's always been a shy little girl and coming to a new place with people she's never met can be really scary especially to a four year old.
" I'll be sleeping right here... You have nothing to worry about okay?! " I gently whisper hoping it would calm her down a little
" Okay " Hermione says while nodding her head and after a couple of minutes of silence Hermione asked if we can get back to book and I happily agreed and went back to reading, and as predicted about half way through the book Hermione fell asleep. So I quietly put the book on the night stand and gently moved Hermione a little over so her head was on the pillow instead of my arm and I quietly stood from the bed to fully tuck her under the blanket. Before I could forget I quickly enlarged my bed to fit two people more comfortably and after I knew she would be okay I went to the washroom to get myself ready for bed.
The next day when I woke up it was to Hermione poking my cheek and giggling after every poke
" Siri... You gotta wake up " Hermione says while still poking my cheek
" Okay okay... How are you feeling Mia? " I say/ ask after I opened my eyes to look at her
" Ummmm... My tummy hurt " Hermione mumbles while playing with her fingers
" Are you hungry or is it the other kind pain? " I ask while sitting up so it would be easy to get the pain potion if she's in that kind of pain
" I really hungry " Hermione says with a shy smile that just made me smile and I was glad that she isn't in any major pain yet and that just means I need to make sure Dumbledore has some pain potion in his office or just give him my bottle, so I know Hermione has it near her when she needs it.
" Okay well lets get dressed and then we can head down to the main hall for breakfast... How does that sound!? " I say while getting out of bed with a big smile on my face
" I like that " Hermione happily says and that's when I looked up and saw Moony sitting up on his bed while reading something then I saw Wormtail starting to wake and Prongs was still asleep so I took this opportunity to take Hermione into the washroom to get washed up and dressed for the day. When it was my turn to get ready for the day we walked out of the washroom and over to Moony
" Mia this is one of my best mates Remus... Remus this is Hermione " I introduced them while pointing back and forth
" Hello its really nice to meet you Hermione " Moony said with a gentle smile
" Hi " Hermione shyly whispers with a small wave and Moony returned the small wave. I kinda think that small jester made her feel a little more at ease around him and that made me feel a little better at what I'm about to ask of them both.
" Mia...? Do you think you would be okay if you stayed with Remus while I take a quick shower and get ready? " I ask Hermione while rubbing her back then I turned I quickly turned to Moony " That's if your okay with watching Mia for a little bit "
" I'm okay if Hermione is " Moony gently says while looking back and forth between me and Hermione
Hermione's POV
When Siri said that he wanted his best mate to watch me while he got ready it really scared me cause I don't know anyone here except for Siri but Remus does seem nice, and he has a really big book in front of him so that has to mean he likes reading like I do... Right?... Well I still have trouble understanding the really big words but I still read a lot
" Mia? " Siri whispers to me and I look at Siri then to Remus and take a deep breath
" I can stay " I say while nodding my head while trying to look and feel brave like my big brother always is
" Now if you need me for anything just yell and I'll come right away... Okay Mia? " Siri says/ asks while setting me on the bed next to Remus
" Okay Siri " I say nodding my head with a small smile then Siri went over to his bed to grabbed my fluffy teddy for me to feel more comfy and safe while he was away getting ready, and once he gave it to me I hugged it tightly and it made me feel a little bit better " Thank you "
" Your welcome little Mia " Siri said before he went back to the washroom to get ready for the day and after a couple of minutes of silence.
" Do you... Ummm D-Do you like r-reading? " I ask nervously trying to be brave again
" I do like to reading... I read almost all the time! Do you like reading? " Remus said with a small smile and I got really excited because he likes to read just like me
" I love reading but... But I can't read some of the big words on my own I always need help but daddy says I getting better at sounding out the words " I say with a really big smile excited to have someone who likes to talk about books like I do... I know Reggie helps me with my reading lessons and he doesn't like to talk about them like I do but that okay... Not everyone likes book like I do!
Sirius's POV
" Padfoot you almost finished in there? Other's need to use the shower too " Prongs asked as he knocked on the door and instead of answering right away I just opened the washroom door in a very dramatic way
" Yeah I'm finished now " I say with a big smile and then frowned for a couple of seconds while sniffing around me " Yeah you really need one " I add
" HA HA that's very funny... " Prongs says while fake laughing before he walked into the washroom and closed the door in my face making me laugh. After a couple of minutes I still haven't heard anything from Hermione and that was starting to worry me so I turned to where Moony's bed was and I was shocked at how comfortable she was with him. I have never seen Hermione let her guard down around anyone she never met before cause of how shy she is. This made me feel a little bit better with leaving her with someone she just met. The more I looked at them I didn't want to interrupt their reading so I made my way over to my bed and got everything I needed for the day. Then I grabbed a small bag to put some of Hermione's things in like her book, the pain potion and I also grabbed her little blanket from her suit case just in case she gets cold or goes down for a nap.
" Mia are you ready for some breakfast " I ask while picking up my bag and Hermione's little bag and then turned towards them
" I ready Siri... Will you be coming Moony? " Hermione says with so much excitement while looking at me and then she turned to Moony and asked with some curiosity in her voice
" I can go with you guy to the main hall for breakfast " Moony says with a small smile while looking at Hermione
" Wormtail you coming too or you still getting ready? " I ask while going over to Remus's bed and grabbed her teddy bear to put in the little bag so she can have it and then I picked Hermione up
" Ummm... I'm gonna get a shower after Prongs gets done in the washroom and I still need to get my books in my bag so I'll just meet you guys down there " Wormtail nervously says while getting some of his things together. After I told Wormtail it was okay that he stays me, Remus and Mia made our way down to the common room and lucky for us it was still empty so we went out the portrait hole and down to the great hall.
" Siri? " Hermione whispers before we walk fully into the great hall
" Yeah Mia? " I whispered back
" W-Will there b-be lot of people in there " Hermione Shakely whispers while pointing to the great hall
" Around this time in the morning there's not a lot of people in there... But you have nothing to worry about okay? I will be with you the entire time " I softly say while rubbing small circles on her back to calm her down a little more
" Promise " Hermione whispered and held her out her pinky finger making me lightly laugh cause I was the one who taught her this and I gently grabbed her little finger with my bigger one
" I promise Mia " I say with a small smile and after a couple of minutes I made sure Hermione was okay enough to go in. When she slowly nodded her head and wrapped her little arms around my neck letting me know she's ready so I tightened my hold on her and when we got into the great hall I was extremely grateful that there wasn't that many people in here.
