Mace took in a deep breath as they walked up to the house. It was small and covered in sand, much like everything else around here. Mace looked over to Obi-Wan who was looking around him with a worried look on his face. He knows that he sensed Maul. However, they both know that they were not here for him but to save a child from being a slave. "What do we say, Master?" Obi-Wan said once he stopped looking around him.

"That he is a Jedi and is in danger here," Mace answered before he knocked on the door. Obi-Wan nodded slowly and turned his head when he sensed Maul close by. Obi-Wan closed his eyes and rocked on his feet before the door opened. In the doorway stood an older woman with a baby who was giggling.

"Yes?" she asked bouncing the baby. Mace smiled at her and took a deep breath.

"Hello, my name is Jedi master Mace Windu, and this is my Padawan Obi-Wan Kenobi," Obi-Wan waved but his eyes were still closed. The woman looked around her before she smiled at them.

"Come in," she said making Obi-wan open his eyes. She looked at Obi-Wan as they walked into the small house.

Obi-Wan smiled at the baby who was now sleeping in his mother's arms. Obi-Wan just stared at him as Mace explained that her baby was a Jedi. However, Obi-Wan was not listening for he was watching the boy sleep and Maul was near. "The boy is not safe here," Mace was saying. "He is a Jedi and someone who's to use him for evil," Mace finished looking at Obi-Wan who had his eyes closed. Mace smiled at the teen, but he too felt that Maul was close by.

"Ani is a Jedi?" she asked rocking the baby. Mace nodded with a smile. "But how will he get off the planet I…." she cut off when Mace put down money. Obi-Wan smiled at him.

"We can free you both," Mace said looking at Obi-Wan who was standing now rubbing his head. he let out a sigh, but he didn't say anything.

"Free us both?" she asked looking at Obi-Wan. "Sir, I only what happiness for my son. He doesn't deserve this life," she said. Obi-Wan opened his eyes.

"No one deserves this life," Obi-Wan said speaking for the first time. Obi-Wan shared a look with Mace who smiled gently at him.

"I'm grateful that you wish to save us. When will it happen?" she asked. "We might be sold tomorrow,"

"Then we will save you tonight," Mace said standing up. "Oh, force I sound like Qui-Gon," Obi-wan laughed a little.

It took a while to free Shmi Skywalker and her son Anakin. Even though Obi-Wan wanted to see them freed but he could not stop thinking about Maul who was around on this planet somewhere. He needed to stop him, but he didn't want to disobey Mace, so he stated outside in the sand hearing Mace talk to Shmi about what she was going to do after she was freed. Obi-Wan smiled at the fact that they were freed now but he felt like he could never be free from the dark side. "Kenobi," Obi-Wan didn't turn around when he heard Maul's quiet voice.

"What do you want?" Obi-Wan asked still not turning around.

"I want that human. He will be mine," Maul said with a sneer. Obi-Wan rolled his eyes.

"He won't be "yours" You know why?" Obi-Wan asked turning around. "Because he's free. He will be a Jedi. I can't say the same for us but…the boy will be good, and I believe in him. even though I sense a darkness in him. I'm sure my master does as well," Obi-Wan added turning around again and walking into the house. Leaving Maul alone in the sand.

"Master?" Obi-Wan whispered to Mace who was holding the boy now. His mother had tears in her eyes but Obi-Wan could tell that he was happy. "Maul is outside right now," Obi-Wan said trying to calm himself. Mace nodded putting his hands on Obi-Wan's shoulders.

"Don't worry. He can't get Ani, or you alight?" Mace whispered. Obi-Wan nodded and smiled at the boy.

"Oh, your back," Shmi said wiping the tears from her eyes. The fourteen-year-old smiled at her with a little wave.

"Hello there," he said. "Master, I'm going to lie down," Obi-Wan added to Mace. Mace nodded and watched as Obi-Wan lay down on the couch and closed his eyes.
