Moonlit Destiny
Author's Note: Wrote this eighteen years ago. It's full of cringe and OOC moments, but I'm preserving it for posterity. Enjoy the story and R&R.

Summary:
Dark Chip Syndicate Nebula begins production on a reality-altering weapon. Amidst the chaos, Hikari Netto and his friends must battle countless Darkloids and creatures of another world to save their own.
Chapter 24: The Abyss
"Darkness has descended upon the worlds!"
Pandemonium burst open, stone and ashes plummeting over everything below.
Samael smiled, his sword fiercely raised. His wings remained unmoving, yet he was suspended in the air. "Behold, my children! Behold the new world!"
The demon's servants cheered, their twisted voices echoing in the harsh wind.
Samael eyed his human prisoners. "Such sorrow. But it will end soon. My armies will march through the new world and free the rest of mankind!"
The demon cackled evilly, swinging his sword in a complex pattern. The incubus' movements left wisps of colour. Three more swings, and the Mark of Paradise had been formed.
From what was once beheld
So again shall time swell
From the darkness, the bottomless abyss
Black…
White…
Flourish of the fog
The world…
Chaos…
The Mark of Paradise grew, fanning out across the world. Its power collected at Pandemonium, the castle brimming with flames.
A bright green flash swerved through Samael's creatures, shredding flesh, muscle, and bone.
"What is THAT?"
"Let me see!" Dekao pushed down on Yaito's forehead.
Meiru forced herself through the mass of people at the back. "That's –!"
"Why do you keep pushing me?"
"Yaito-chan, look!" Meiru pointed.
More creatures were vaporized by the glowing figure. Rings of data circled his waist, wrists, and legs. His body was overflowing with power.
"Rockman?"
"Netto's come to save us!" Meiru cheered, coaxing everyone to join her.
"Yeah! We're saved!" Dekao threw his arms up, almost smashing them against the metal bars of the cage.
Above them, Samael scowled. "So, he's come back. How unexpected. He should have gone mad by now."
Pandemonium sank into the shadows. The castle disappeared out of existence, replaced by a hole that stretched down into absolute nothingness.
"This will be your grave! The pain of God's exile will be increased tenfold! I'll drop your body into the abyss! Prepare to sleep in the darkness for eternity with your beloved Tohru!"
R-Rockman's attacks finished off what remained of Samael's creatures. With a simple gesture, the cages shattered, allowing everyone to escape.
"Netto!" Meiru ran up to him. "You and Rockman are such heroes!"
"Yeah!" Yaito agreed.
"Follow everyone else!"
Meiru nodded, taking hold of Yaito and Dekao's wrists. "Leave it to me!"
R-Rockman joined Samael above the swirling abyss.
You ready, Rockman?
Mm! Netto-kun!
"Let's go! FULL SYNCHRO!"
This is for you, Tohru-kun! Netto thought. "Take this!"
Samael was absorbed by their exploding energy ball.
We did it! Netto-kun!
No, he's –!
Samael cracked his neck amid the smoke as though it had been nothing. He sent fonts of flame off his sword through the air toward R-Rockman, and while R-Rockman was able to block the intense hellfire with a Barrier, Samael fell like a bullet from the blazing atmosphere.
"DIE!" He swung his sword, but R-Rockman caught it between his hands.
R-Rockman threw the demon back, releasing another blast from his palm.
Samael retaliated, flipping and swatting the blast aside. He laughed as he twisted around, his fingers sizzling with blue energy.
Netto and Rockman braced for an attack.
"Star of Lucifer!" Samael pushed both hands out, hitting R-Rockman in the chest with lightning. He flew rapidly to catch R-Rockman from behind, digging into his injured opponent. "Twist Torment!"
Rockman, we can defeat him! Netto felt the flaming sensation, but disregarded it.
His Navi nodded. We'll do it for Tohru-kun!
"SAMAEL!" R-Rockman punched the demon in the face, leaving a trail of data and blood.
"YOU DARE?"
"Battle Chip! Long Sword!" R-Rockman's arm became a sharp blade.
Samael caught the swipe with one hand, bringing his other arm up to behead the pest, only for R-Rockman to intercept it with a Dream Aura.
"Battle Chip! Spread Gun!" Rockman's arm retracted once again, this time producing a wide-range blaster. "Program Advance! Hyper Burst!"
Samael was blown back by the incredible firepower. The energy blasts converged on him from all directions, shattering his sword and obliterating a portion of his left wing.
"D-damn you!"
