Chapter 25: Dawn

Samael leaned to one side, blood dripping from his wing and down the chains at his arms. He dropped his sword handle, the bladeless blade hurtling into the abyss below.

"Battle Chip –!" R-Rockman didn't have time to finish the demon off. Samael had slipped through the air like a serpent, and now held his arm in a tight, piercing grasp.

"Dragged to Asylum!" A cloud engulfed R-Rockman, severing several of his data rings. Its dark power drained him of energy, blood and data spilling from his wounds.

"Die! Die and lament your mistake!" The chains on Samael's arms unravelled, slithering up his foe's body to his neck.

Netto struggled against the constricting metal. "No! It can't end like this! We can defeat him, Rockman!"

Rockman gritted his teeth through the jolts. Battle Chip!

"Iai Form!" The two forced all their strength into the attack.

A geyser of green energy burst from R-Rockman's right arm, forming a sharp edge.

"TAKE THIS!" The humming weapon struck Samael through the chest, exploding as it pierced through the demon's back.

The incubus' body was blasted to kingdom come.

We did it, Netto-kun! Rockman cheered from within.

"No more demon god!"

"It's not over yet!" A shadow arose from the smoke and ashes.

"Impossible!" R-Rockman gasped.

"You cannot win! I am a god!" Samael laughed despite his state.

"God…" Netto closed his tear-streaked eyes, falling to his knees in their synchronized world. "You're not a god! If you were, I'd understand why Tohru-kun was taken from me! If you were a true god, I'd be mournful for my loss, but I wouldn't be trapped in such a dark place!"

Netto-kun… Rockman wished he could be of more comfort to his operator.

"Tohru-kun, I promised you that I'd win, and I won't –" Netto's voice became louder. "LOSE!"

R-Rockman's bright green aura grew, converting the entire area around him into pure energy.

"What?"

"Battle Chip, Meteor Red Sun! Blue Moon Ray!"

"Fool! Do you think this will work on me?" Samael's shadow reared back. "CAELUM!"

Fierce jets of lightning fled out around the demon. An array of thunderous blasts, everything disappearing in the maelstrom of the devilish god.

"Program Advance! SUN AND MOON!"

The heavens tumbled with ominous shades of red and blue. Vibrant lights in the sky spun, and a glittering sphere crackled against the twister of Samael's lightning.

Samael screamed as the colours came together to produce a ferocious meteor shower.

"Disappear! Vengeful spirit of Paradise!"

"NO! THIS CANNOT BE!"

The celestial Program Advance consumed Samael's wicked remnants.

The god of Paradise Lost lived no more. And Paradise Lost itself began drifting out of view.

Blackness enclosed Netto, his consciousness splitting from Rockman's.

It is done. The darkness has been unmade.

"Netto-kun! Netto-kun! Wake up!" Rockman yelled.
