Giorgia was clutching onto her child, tears in her eyes as she said her goodbyes.
It was heartbreaking. Rosene was still eleven and would already leave to go to boarding school in a different country.
She hadn't wanted this and even while she was ecstatic for the possibility her child had gotten it still was ripping her motherheart apart to let her little kid go. She was so young.
so unbelievingly young and already leaving home.
It didn't help that both of her children had red eyes when they woke up and came to the kitchen.. well… Sen did. Francesco actually had to get Renato as the child hadn't even wanted to come with them to drop off his sister.
"Stellina. Promise to eat your vegetables. I want letters. You have to write so many letters. You hear me? I want to know everything and…and be a good child. Don't get into trouble and listen to your teachers. Don't hurt yourself and eat your vegetables. You have to drink enough as well and don't forget to dress warmly."
Sen sniffled, burying herself even more in her mothers embrace "I promise, Mamma."
"Good child. I'm so proud of you, Stellina. So proud. You don't know how much your mamma loves you. my special little Star. "
"I love you too, Mamma."
Francesco kneeled down next to them, wrapping his arms around both of them "You love me too, principessa? Because your Papá does. "
"I love you too, Papá." she managed to say even while she was trying to hold her sobs in.
Francesco raised his head, glancing at his son who was still stubbornly standing a few steps away, arms crossed and staring at the floor.
Francesco sighed, before he leaned down to place a kiss on his daughter's cheek "Be a good girl, alright? You have to get on the cartridge now."
Sen sniffled even more, even when her mother peppered her face with kisses.
And slowly Sen stepped back, her eyes focused on her twin, who was still not looking at her.
Sen sniffled before she pushed her chin up and turned around to step on the carriage, turning to stare out of the window as soon as she was inside, waving at her family, at her crying mother when the horses started running and jumping into the sky.
Sen was the only child for a while, her legs pulled close and tears streaming down her face. Bitto on her knees, making small squeaking noises to try to cheer up his owner.
She travelled for a while and when they stopped she had already dried her tears in the handkerchief her mother had handed her before departure.
She put on a brave face and quietly greeted the group of mages that stepped inside,
Professeur marino had informed her that she would be picked up with the italian carriage who would pick up any and all italian students who weren't part of a communaté, before it headed for the school.
The mages nodded at her before they turned back to their conversations. Sen felt a bit helpless on what to do but pulled out one of her textbooks she had packed with easy access for the trip, engulfing herself for the seventh time in her defence against the dark arts books.
The trip did take three hours in the end and while there had been a few younger kids Sen had missed the chance to connect with them when she had been engulfed in her book. She slowly stroked behind the group when they set out
Her eyes wide as she looked around. The chateau was beautiful, looking even more magical than any and all kinds of castles she had seen in Disney movies. It was as artistic as everything surrounding them, lavish with integrated architecture and wide windows.
It was for the most part surrounded by mountains and closer to it were carefully groomed gardens and fountains, a gigantic lake was taken up a major part of the left side and even from her spot she could make out that beauxbatons was build on a cliff
Sen actually did feel a bit intimidated, it was… posh and elegant.
An insanely tall woman and a smaller brunette man stood in the middle of the archway that decorated the path to the castle. Glittering dark red letters were levitating next to them in the air 'First years'
Sen slowly stepped towards the woman together with the rest of the first years. Everyone else had already arrived and just with a quick glance she already determined that there were 17 students including herself. ten girls and seven boys.
The tall lady clapped her hands together "Welcome my students. I am Olympe Maxime. You can address me as madame Maxime and I am your headmistress. I hope you all had a pleasant journey.
For now our gamekeeper Rèmy Vieuxpont will give you a tour across our grounds. Afterwards you will be led to our dining hall where your sorting and the welcome feast will occur. I wish you all a brilliant time."
Sen just started clapping automatically when the rest of the first years did, struggling clearly with the French that was spoken, even with the earrings Morina had handed her before her department, which were supposed to translate to them until they picked up the language themself.
Madame Maxime gracefully stepped away to go inside the chateau.
Vieuxpont bowed gallantly "Welcome students. I'm Rèmy Vieuxpont. Monsieur Vieuxpont is what I expect you all to address me as. I'm not just the groundskeeper but I take care of the stables as well and anyone who will be joining horseback riding will be my student.
Our academy sits on nine acres of land and we like to call our grounds the palace because of it.
As you can see from right here our lake is quite special. Man made and oh there he is." he gestured towards the gigantic swan "This is Clarence. He's very friendly but please don't bother him. The lake is open for swimming and we even have it as an extracurricular activity for anyone who is more interested in it. Swimming isn't allowed if no supervisor is in place but in the hotter months we have staff ready for it anytime."
He smiled before he started guiding the group around, stopping at various of the gardens, showcasing them fields of different flowers and artistically trimmed hedges and bushes. Everything was more than just pristine.
Sens' eyes widened as she caught sight of the small fairies and spirits who were sometimes popping up between the flowerbeets, way more focused on them then anything Vieuxpont was telling them.
Just this alone took more than just a bit of time and then they were led around the chateau towards the cliff. It was… it was insanely beautiful, under it was the ocean, the fall insanely deep but… it was plainly breathtaking.
But the tour didn't end there. they got lead across more parts of the grounds, several buildings, for example the stables which didn't just hold the abraxan horses from the carriages but regular horses, ponies, unicorns, pegasi…
A few of the kids even pointed at some of them to show their new friends that they brought one from home.
While Sen had already understood that she had entered a different world it was… it just clicked. Everything around her was magical, just insanely magical and she could really only stare at wonder around her.
This would be her school for the next seven years? Her home?
She got more excited by the second, lighting up everytime she discovered something new and in the height of her excitement she turned around, already opening her mouth only to realise… he wasn't here.
Ren wasn't here.
She froze, stumbling for a second while the group already left before she caught herself again, her eyes slightly misty but determined not to lose the group. Her head was spinning as they made it to the main building.
As soon as they stepped inside they were faced with two spiral staircases. Vieuxpont kept on explaining "To the right is the dining hall and kitchen. To the left the reception parlour and student gallery. The floors and the important rooms on it will be shown to you by your in depth tour through it provided by your head of house later on.
My part for today ends here and I will now lead you to the dining hall where your sorting will take place before you get to eat your first Meal at beauxbatons. Once again; Welcome to all of our new students. I am certain you will love your time at our Academy."
