Sens' breath hitched at the sight in front of her. The dining hall was even more luxurious than anything… There were sculptures all surrounding the walls and dozens of small tables placed all across the dining hall where students were already seated.
A long line of tables was in the front and Maxime was already waiting for them there, dozens of other teachers sitting behind her on the table.
"Welcome first years.
The sorting is our last important matter for today before we let you all rest. You will all shoot an arrow engraved with your name across the hall and it will burst in the colour of your new house.
Your house terminates your dormitory, so that you will be surrounded with likeminded People. We encourage mingling though. Your core classes will be held all together. While the important mealtimes as for example today requires you to sit with your house and year, on the regular you're allowed to sit with anyone you wish for.
I will introduce you now to your head of houses: Hilgar Ars for Bellefeuille, Melina Sordeau for Pappilonlisse and Harry Nauctor for Ombrelune.
I leave them the stage to explain about their houses themself"
A brunette, middle aged, curvy woman with green eyes stepped forwards, smiling kindly in the group "I'm Professeur Sordeau. I teach language, which is why I have the pleasure of teaching every last one of the non french speakers for a while and you may join my lessons once again if you choose my class.
Pappilonlisse students are known for kindness, artistic spirit, maturity and they are quite idealistic. Naturally gifted in the arts, thoughtful of others around them and in general kind and gentle. We pride ourselves in being sophisticated and mature.
Beauty is important to us and we strive for aesthetic improvements. All in all our students have in common that we are emotional, have strong feelings and are dedicated to our work. We have this wonderful purple as our house colour " she gestured towards the banner adorning a butterfly alighting on a leaf.
Ars had blonde hair, chocolate brown eyes and a broad stature. A smile on his lips as he addressed the students "I'm Proffesseur Ars. I teach Photography.
Bellefeuille welcomes students who are brave, sensitive, loyal and who have a love for nature. We are known to be caring and sensitive to people's needs and are usually known to be more interested in honing our physical skills than the logic arts, which doesn't mean that we are less intelligent than the other houses.
We are also hard and efficient workers. Our viewpoint is that we see the necessities of life as most important and we price our friends and family above all else. Our colour is green'' he gestured towards one of the banners on the wall which pictured five leaves "I will look forward to meeting all of my new students."
Nauctor smirked, black hair, light blue eyes and a slim and sleek figure " You can address me as Proffesseur Nauctor. My subject is Art History.
Ombrelune's students have cunning, logic, ambition and curiosity. My students are calculating and keep a cool head above all else. They make well thought-out and logical decisions. Smart, logical and structured. While never forgetting our curiosity in how the world works. We strive for power and perfection." he gestured towards the dark blue banner with the moon on it.
A dark skinned, black haired man stepped forwards "I'm Francois Bonaparte. The deputy Headmaster. Those who choose literature will have me as their professeur.
I welcome you all once again"
With a flick of his hand a decorated box appeared next to him "When I call out your name you will step forwards to shoot your arrow. As you can see the three tables in the front are empty and decorated with our house banners. Please find a seat there as soon as you have been sorted.
Adriana Bakker please come forward."
A redhead strutted forwards, taking the offered golden bow and arrow with her name from Bonaparte.
She took a deep breath before she fired it in the air, only for it to explode in a cloud of deep blue glitter.
At once polite clapping came from the rest of the students and after handing the bow back the girl found her seat.
Sen carefully observed the procedure, trying to remember the names of her yearmates, as she hadn't given them much attention before, too focused on the tour. She did have to pause at the sight of the most beautiful girl she had ever seen. platinum blonde, straight hair, dark blue eyes and pearly straight white teeth. More gliding across the floor than walking.
Sen had always been called beautiful. Both herself and her brother had inherited the beauty of their parents… but Fleur? Fleur was different. Fleur was so incredibly beautiful it was hard to believe how she even existed.
She was the first student who got sorted into Bellefeuille.
Sen waited, observing how the chairs filled, new ones appearing as soon as the tables filled until she was the last student standing.
Bonaparte smiled "Rosene Stella Sinclair."
She pushed her chin up, not willing to be nervous now or make a fool of herself if she stumbled and with careful, collected steps she made her way over.
The bow was surprisingly heavy but she still managed to hold it without an issue, carefully placing the arrow against it, copying the technique the other students had used.
her arrow flew straight up only to explode into brightgreen glitter.
relief floating through her as she handed the bow back and made her way towards her table.
She slowly sat down only to have a hand offered to her immediately.
A tanned, black haired boy with green eyes grinned at her "Rui Silva. Nice to meet you. I'm from portugal."
She accepted it. "Rosene Sinclair, italian."
a black haired, brown eyed boy with dark skin smiled as he offered her his hand "Lyam Dupont. I'm french."
A brunette boy with brown eyes grinned as he raised his hand for another shake "Mateo Ramos. I'm from spain."
Rosenes eyes wandered over to the only other girl at the table, the beauty from before before she slowly offered her hand to her.
Fleur seemed to examine her before she nodded and accepted the hand "I'm Fleur Delacour. I'm French and apparently we will be roommates from today on."
Rosene smiled "Then…. to seven good years?"
Fleur finally smiled, "I sure hope so."
Before their conversation could go on, plates appeared in front of them with various dishes, Rosene flinched back violently especially when movement came from the ceiling, small dainty creatures flying down, levitating over the tables and… starting to sing.
Really Rosene could only stare.
Mateo grinned "What? Never seen Wood Nymphes?"
She just shook her head, still staring in wonder around her.
"You're a muggleborn then?"
"oh yeah."
"Gotcha. Mum said Beauxbatons accept a few every year. Just to liven it up. I mean most of the students' families here have gone to Beauxbatons for generations. They just had to have that exclusive factor as well, you know?"
Rosene finally managed to avert her eyes from the nymphes to look at the boy "Exclusive? i… well where do the rest of the students go?"
"Well Durmstrang accepts international students and there are some local schools as well."
Rosene raised her eyebrow "But… Professeur Marino made it sound as if Beauxbatons was the only choice."
"Yeah, obviously. Who would be stupid enough to not accept? I mean if you get invited to the major schools you will obviously go and well local schools just can't compare. Be glad. Makes an insane difference for job opportunities later."
Ren chewed on her lip "So… I could have stayed home?"
"Probably? Well it's too late now. You can't just change school during the year and well… Beauxbatons has a reputation."
Rui leaned forwards, already having his spoon with soup halfway to his mouth "You're homesick already?"
"I just… didn't really want to go."
he raised his eyebrow in disbelief "Come on. Magic is cool. It's cool here as well. My parents actually met here, they use every opportunity to unload all of their schoolstories on me and honestly? Beauxbatons is so much cooler than any other school."
Sen bit her lip, swallowing hard as she looked down to stare at the way too many eating utensils.
Fleur raised her eyebrow at that display before she sighed "You don't even know how to eat?" she shook her head in disbelief.
Before Rosene could protest though the blonde had already picked her one up demonstratively "Just follow my example. it's not hard."
