Five o'clock had come a lot faster than they had hoped. They had played games like water tag, water volleyball, and of course the boys had to race one another, with and without quirks. Once everything was cleaned up, everyone headed back to the dorms.
Sunni smiled to herself as she made her way into the girls wing. She'd needed today. A chance to clear up her mind and re-energize. She set down her bag and grabbed some comfy clothing for a shower, a soft knock on her door almost made her jump, "Come in!"
Jiro walked in and shut the door behind her softly, "Is this a bad time?"
The red head smiled, "Not at all. What's up?"
Jiro cleared her throat. "I debated on talking to you about this but..."
Sunni sat on her bed and furrowed her brows, "Is everything okay?"
Jiro sighed, "I...know who you are."
Blue eyes sank to the ground, "Jiro I-"
"I get it," the purple haired girl sat beside her, "I followed your career in music. You don't owe us anything."
Sunni swallowed hard, "I just, wanted to wait before really saying anything to anyone..." she looked at Jiro, "I wanted to be normal for a bit."
"And you deserve that." She smiled and placed a gentle hand on her shoulder, "I'm proud of what your doing here."
The red head let out a long breath, a few tears falling, "I...thank you, that seriously means the world to me." She smiled at Jiro, "The truth is I'm terrified. I don't know who I am outside of the band and music."
"Here is the best place for you to figure it out," she gave Sunni a small hug, "If you ever need someone to talk to about all of this, I'm here. I won't say anything to anyone."
Sunni hugged her back and nodded. "Thank you, Jiro," she whispered. "The same goes for you," she pulled away looking at the other girl, "I mean that. We're friends. Don't ever hesitate, promise?"
Jiro smiled and stood walking to the door, "I promise." She turned back before opening the door, "I bought floor seats. Front and center."
Sunni laughed and wiped her eyes, "I'll keep an eye out for you."
Once Jiro closed the door, Sunni broke down. Jiro saying she was proud of her meant so much. She was worried walking away from the life she knew, and what that would entail for her. She hated disappointing others and always wanted her best foot forward. She wiped her eyes and stood, "That means I just gotta really do my best in this."
Sunni had managed to make it past the common room without being noticed. She just had to make it to the shower room now. Her blue eyes were red from her momentary breakdown. She didn't want to have to make something up.
She rounded the corner to the home stretch when a strong hand gripped her arm, "What happened?"
She blinked and looked at Bakugo. He'd just got done showering himself, his towel was wrapped around his shoulders. Sunni smiled slightly, "Bakugo it's fine-"
"I didn't ask if it was." His voice was low and his eyes were serious.
She took a breath and turned to face him, "I had a small, little moment is all. I promise." He narrowed his eyes at her, making her smile for real, "I swear. It just kinda happened. No one did anything."
"If you say so," he let her go as a smirk came across his face, "You have more freckles now."
Her blue eyes blinked and she twisted her mouth, "You sayin I look stupid or somthin'?"
His smirk turned into a smug smile. He'd effectively managed to fluster her. This was a small new victory he'd make note of as he shrugged, "Or somethin'."
He moved past her and made his way back to the boys wing. She stood there for a moment processing the interaction that had just happened. Her face turned red as she walked quickly into the showers.
Bakugo made his way to his room and laid back on his bed, pulling out his phone. Now was the perfect time to do some digging. He tried typing in Sunni's name, but nothing. Of course, an alias. His thoughts went back to the band Kirishima loses his mind over and typed in their name. He wanted to find out as much about her as he could.
Sunni took her time in the shower, letting the hot water work it's way over her tense muscles. So much in life was happening so quickly. Could she keep up? No, but she had to. A lot of sacrifices were made for her to get where she was, there would be no failing.
She finished and dressed in a yellow tank top and grey, comfortable sweatpants. She wrestled her red locks with her brush and finally made her way back to the girls wing. The sun was now set, and besides for a few stragglers watching a TV show, most had retired to their rooms. She was meeting Bakugo soon to get notes on All Might.
A spit ball whizzed by her head making her pause. Denki and Sero were giggling. Sunni smirked and picked up a pen, letting a purple glow surround it. The boys nervously chuckled. Denki waived his hands, "Oh come on now, just some fun."
The girl chuckled and set the pen down, "Of course."
Iida shuffled over to the two boys and began scolding them on childish behaviors, making Sunni laugh as she entered her room. She jumped when she turned and Bakugo was sitting on her bed with a glare. She took the opportunity to annoy him, "Gods I thought you were my sleep paralysis demon."
He rolled his eyes, "Are you ready to do this?"
She chuckled, setting her shower caddy in the closet, "I mean sure, you a bottom or-"
He rubbed his temples and cut in, "Don't start your bullshit. My heads killing me, I don't need anymore of your noise than I already have to bear."
The red haired girl sat beside him and held out the pain killers her had loaned her earlier in the week, "Here. I got you a new bottle."
He blinked and took the bottle, "Thanks."
While he took a handful, she reached and grabbed some paper and a pencil. "If you're not feeling well, you don't have to help-"
"I know." He took a drink of his water, "I just didn't drink enough today."
She nodded and sat facing him, "Wherever you wanna start."
Mina had her ear pressed to the door, listening. Kirishima smirked as he walked up, "What are you doing?"
She smiled and stood, whispering, "Bakugo's in there with Sunni."
Kirishima's eyes almost bugged out, "What!?"
"Yeah I know. He's helping her with some kind of assignment," she giggled excitedly.
Kirishima leaned down to her ear, "If he catches you out here, he's going to kill you." He took her hand, "Come on."
Mina sighed in defeat, but followed to Kiri's room to watch a movie. She was happy for her new friend, just nosy.
They sat and talked for hours about All Might. Bakugo had told her everything. Even things he didn't mean to tell. All the way up until that day.
He watched her as he spoke. She was genuinely listening to every word, writing her notes and asking questions. Her skin was slightly darker after their day in the sun, it made her freckles and eyes pop even more. Her red curls cascaded over her shoulders. She giggled now and then when he talked about Deku and All Mights relationship. He was genuinely enjoying the conversation at this point.
He stopped when he got to that day. The day he died and All Might was no more. Sunni tilted her head, she knew he'd been there that day. Mina had told her a little about it. Nothing deep, that was Bakugo's call. She gently reached out and touched his arm, "We can stop if you want."
He blinked his red eyes and nodded, "Yeah."
Sunni shifted and set her notebook down, "Bakugo, I know it doesn't account for much, but, if you ever want to talk about it you can...and it won't leave me." His eyes snapped to her. She moved her hand back to her lap, "And no, I'm not pitying you or just saying it to say it." She shrugged and stood, stretching, "No pressure."
He watched her for a minute, grinding his teeth in thought. He wanted to tell her, but to go back into that was...difficult for him. He had a hard time sleeping as it was. Months of progress would be down the drain.
She ran a hand through her soft curls and watching his internal struggle. Her heart ached. Whatever happened that day broke him. His mask was off at this moment as he zoned out. Something almost no one got to see. She would never tell anyone just how many emotions swept across his face in these few minutes. She slowly knelt in front of his gaze, "Hey you," his eyes snapped to hers, "it's okay."
He sighed and placed a hand on her head, "I know, thank you." Her hair was so soft, her curls settling across his fingers. He picked up his phone, it was two in the morning, "It's late as hell."
Sunni blinked and looked at the time, "Oh shit, I'm sorry."
He ruffled her hair and stood, "It's fine." He grabbed his now empty water bottle and headed to her door, "Goodnight."
She smiled softly, "Goodnight."
