PART 1

CHAPTER 13

Rose danced against Vicki as the music played loud in the house. She felt Damon against her back as all three of them ground against each other. Rose still felt high from being fed on by Damon and from feeding on him. She felt the music course through her as they let loose. Damon handed over his bottle of bourbon to Rose, the raven-haired girl smiled taking a swig from the bottle. Damon sped to the second floor, shaking his hips to the rhythm of the song. Rose threw her head back and laughed loudly. When Damon landed in front of her, he grabbed her hand and danced her towards the stairs. Rose picked up Vicki along the way and the trio danced their way to Stefan's room.

Vicki and Damon began trashing Stefan's things as Rose seated herself on the lone desk in the room. She moved her body to the music, drinking while watching the other occupants. Damon pushed books off their place on their shelves, breaking glass things, and kicked furniture while Vicki jumped on the bed like a kid. Damon shook his hips as he made his way to Rose, playfully reaching out his hand to tease the steady stream of sunlight. Damon's skin hissed as he pulled away turning to Rose. The fond smile on his face tempered out as something caught his eyes.

Rose followed Damon's line of sight, the picture of Katherine making her eyebrows draw together in a frown. Damon picked up the photo, a pained expression slotting in place. Rose reached out, gently prying the photo from his hands. She pulled Damon into her arms silently letting him cry, albeit tearless. The song ended and the atmosphere changed as a slow song played. Damon moved away from Rose only to have Vicki pull him to her so that they could dance.

Rose watched the pair from the bed, having crawled under Stefan's rather comfortable covers. It hadn't taken long for Vicki to start spilling to Damon crying on his shoulder. It had taken even less time for Damon to grow irritated and to snap her neck. He smiled back at Rose, "Congratulations! You became a sire." His voice was deadpan as he approached the bed. Rose sent Vicki's prone body a nasty glare before making room for Damon. Damon removed his shirt before climbing in, wrapping his arms around Rose as she rested her head against his bare chest.

"She doesn't count. We both gave her blood." Rose spoke as she made herself comfortable. "Besides, if I turn someone, and I like them enough I wouldn't leave them out in the cold." Damon raised his brow in her direction, "Are you sure about that?" Rose smacked his stomach, glaring at him. "If I like them enough I would! Besides, with my control, I would be the best vamp coach to have."

Rose and Damon talked about anything that came to mind as they waited for Vicki to come back to life.

Rose rolled her eyes as Damon played with the sun again. "Vampires are still weak to the sun. No amount of trying will change that." She pointed out, now dressed in leather pants and a fishnet top which showed her bra, her signature boots once again on her feet. Damon gave her a fake tightlipped smile. "That's not what I'm doing." Rose held her hands in the air, backing off but laughter escaped her. Damon glared at her this time but before he could get into a 'fight' with her Vicki groaned.

Rose smirked from her chair as Vicki stirred. "Here we go!" Her grin was somewhat feral as she observed her prey. The girl turned, looking at Damon and Rose, "What happened? We were dancing and then-" Vicki tried to speak while she struggled to stand up, no doubt feeling like crap.

Rose hadn't remembered being like this, but as she's proven so far, she was rather different. She could also contribute it to the fact that she hadn't hesitated to turn like she was sure most people did. "Then, I killed you." Damon finished Vicki's sentence, pride lacing his words. "What?!" Vicki exclaimed cradling her sore neck. "You're as dead as a doornail~." Rose sang eerily soft, putting on a deranged smile. "I'm dead?" Vicki asked, looking between both ravens. "Yeah well, let's not make a big deal out of it. You drank our blood, I killed you and now you have to feed in order to complete the process." Damon folded his arms across his chest, pupils dilating.

Vicki succeeded in pushing herself to her feet, grabbing her jeans while trying to remain standing. "You're wasted." She pressed out, walking to the door. Rose smiled, clicking her teeth. "I wouldn't recommend that." She said, but Vicki ignored her. "She's right, you don't wanna be out there all alone."

It was clear Vicki did not believe anything they were saying. So Damon sped in front of her, startling Vicki enough to make her stumble. "You're about to get real freaky." Vicki shook her head, nothing Damon said getting through to her. Rose narrowed her eyes as Damon let Vicki go, telling her to go to Jeremy.

Damon expected Rose to be angry but when he turned around she just sighed and sped to the bourbon in the lounge.

Damon followed after her, keeping his distance from her. "Are you mad at me?" He asked, cautiously. He was venturing into new territory. "I don't know what I'm feeling right now Damon," Rose spoke, her back facing him. Damon frowned, she hadn't called him by his name in a while. "I could care less about Elena, but… Jeremy… I think Jeremy's off-limits."

Damon felt a stabbing pain in his heart, dread filling him. Rose was the best thing that had happened to him in a long time and he had just risked it all because he pushed too far. "Stefan won't let Vicki hurt him." Damon winced as the words came out, not sure what else to say.

They stood across from each other for what seemed like hours before Rose sighed again, this time walking towards Damon instead of away. Rose leaned up and kissed her friend on his cheek giving the flesh a light smack after. "We have some time to kill before sundown."

Rose focused on her senses as she walked silently in the woods. Stefan's now-familiar scent filled her as she got nearer, her body lighting up in tingles despite her previous decision to write him off. Rose reacted on instinct as she heard the shifting of a gun, speeding towards Stefan and slamming him into the ground.

Rose rolled to the ground; the pain was the only sensation she could register. Struggling to look down Rose saw blood pooling on the ground, felt it trickle out of her mouth. Mentally finding the source of the pain Rose felt fear as she realized the bullet was scraping against her heart. Stefan was by her side in an instant, holding her body to his. "Rose!" He shouted in concern but before he could act, another shot was fired, this time hitting its Stefan intended mark. Rose and Stefan faced each other as they bled, both weak.

Rose closed her eyes shut in pain, her mind conjuring up the image of Damon in what she thought was her final moments when she saw Logan Fell looming above with his gun trained on them. Stefan reached out his hand grabbing Rose's using the little strength he had to comfort her, and himself. Unexpectedly, Rose squeezed back giving him a small smile one similar to that which she only ever directed at Damon.

Logan threw away his gun and stepped on Stefan's body raising his stake. Rose let out a feral cry as she lunged for the human tackling him to the ground. Logan flipped them around and blindly stabbed at Rose, the wood piercing her. Stefan felt tears spring to his eyes as he saw Rose's body still. Logan pulled out another stake this time aiming for Stefan.

"No!" Vicki cried out just as a blur pulled Logan up and tore into his neck. Damon threw the man to the ground reaching into Stefan's chest and pulling out the bullet. The tension in Stefan's body eased with relief as Damon examined it, a frown on his face. "It's wood. They know. If anyone's gonna kill you, it's gonna be me." Damon gave Stefan a bloody smile.

"Rose!" Stefan pressed out trying to sit up. Damon's eyes widened, looking around the area. A few feet away from where Stefan was, laid Rose. A stake sticking out her unmoving body. Damon felt gravity bear down on him as he rushed to Rose. "No, no, no, no, no!" He cried out as he fell next to her. Damon sagged his shoulders in relief as Rose's eyes flickered to him, her mouth open in pain. "It's okay, I got you," Damon spoke as he gently pulled the stake out of her stomach, before reaching into Rose's chest to pull out the bullet.

Damon pulled Rose into his arms, cupping the back of her head hiding her face in his neck. Spotting the gold watch Damon picked it up before he stood up carrying Rose in his arms. Damon glared at Stefan approaching him. "Our rings." He demanded. Stefan looked Rose over before he reached into his pocket and pulled them out. Rose too exhausted from the new experience of pain to bother with her ring, simply held it in her hand as Damon gave it to her.

Stefan met Rose's eyes as Damon held her. Rose looked away from Stefan's intense gaze and faced the sounds of chewing. Vicki had fed on Logan; she was a vampire now.

The girl rushed into the woods after she apologized to Stefan. "Oops," Damon smirked, speeding in the direction of the Salvatore House.
