Sunni sat in the shower, letting the water hit her skin. It hurt, feeling like she had a bad sunburn, but, she needed it. To be honest, she felt like she had been hit by a truck. She wouldn't tell Deku though, he'd feel terrible. All of this was trial and error.
Bakugo disappeared right after class was over. She knew he was upset about today. She would have to talk with him about it when he decided to show himself.
She needed water and rest. Luckily tomorrow's classes were easy. After school she had to do a radio interview with the band. She would have to miss classes Friday for sound check. She told Mina it was due to her brother coming into town.
She finally pulled herself from the hot water and dressed in a pair of black sweat pants and a grey graphic hoodie. She raked a brush through her hair and made her way back to her room quietly. Everyone seemed tired after their hero training today. Aizawa said he would email notes and critiques tonight. That poor man never sleeps.
She opened her door and sighed, "I'm going to start charging rent." Bakugo sat in her desk chair, arms crossed like a disappointed parent. He'd showered, sporting a tank top and basketball shorts. She grabbed her water bottle off of her nightstand, "What, you come in here to glare at me?"
"You're hurting," he tilted his head, studying her careful movements.
She sat on her bed, "Yep, I am."
She watched as he clinched his jaw. He was debating on how to approach his subject, "You pissed me off today."
"Oh?" She rested against her headboard, "Well, that wasn't my intention, I'm sorry."
He got up and walked up to her. Her blue eyes watched as he sat down beside her, "I know. It's just...Deku's quirk is destructive."
Sunni nodded, "It can be. But," she leaned forward and looked at him, "We never move forward if we don't take chances."
"At what cost," he stared at the wall for a moment, "I've seen what it can do to someone's body..." his eyes moved to her, "I just-"
"I know," she smiled tiredly, "would you feel better if I said I learned a valuable lesson today?"
He scoffed with a small smirk, "Not really. I know you'll try it again."
"Not for a while. My whole body's sore."
"Serves you right."
Sunni smirked, eyeing him, "But it is so sweet of you to come check on me."
"I came here to yell at you," he huffed, "You just make it hard to."
She chuckled, "It my killer charm isn't it?"
A knock came from the door, Mina popped her head inside and blinked, "Oh, hello Bakugo. Is this a bad time?"
Sunni shook her head, "No, what's up?"
"I was gonna see if you wanted this," she held up a pack of mochi. "Kiri got you one when we went out. It's red bean paste."
The red head smiled brightly, "Yesssssss gimme."
Mina giggled and walked in, giving them to her. She looked at Bakugo, "Did you come in here to scold her?"
The blond smirked, "Yeah. She was an idiot."
Mina winked, "She's a smart idiot." She crossed her arms and looked Sunni up and down, "Do you need Recovery Girl?"
"No ma'am." They both eyed her. She sighed and opened the mochi, "If I'm still in pain tomorrow, I'll go."
Mina nodded and faced Bakugo, "Take care of her."
"Pft, like I'm some damn babysitter."
The pink girl walked to the door, "Well I mean..." She winked and closed the door as she left.
Sunni sighed and took a bite of her snack, "She's a handful."
"I forgot to tell you," he casually took one of her mochi, ignoring her glare, "I got asked to work security Saturday for your concert."
"Wonderful, you get to see me make a fool of myself," she rolled her eyes and sipped her drink. She thought for a moment, "I did a thing."
"A thing?"
The red head nodded and reached onto her nightstand and grabbed an envelope, "I have these VIP tickets for Kirishima." She cleared her throat, "He really wanted to go...so fuck it."
"He's going to flip out when he sees you up there."
Her cheeks flushed red, "Yeah I know...especially because I'm...different on stage."
"Oh I know alllll about that," the blond teased, "I did some research."
The blush on her freckled cheeks darkened, "Okay you know, you don't have to put it like that."
"I like your hair the way it naturally is though. It suits you better," he was amused at how embarrassed she was.
Mina was curled up In Kirishima's bed, he was wrapped around her, his breathing soft. He was tired today after training. Hell Mina was too. They took turns sneaking to one another's room a few times a week.
She laid awake, her mind wandering. Next week was the anniversary of Midnight's death. It still haunted her sometimes. The feeling of holding her hand as the realization hit her. She missed her laugh and witty attitude. Sunni sometimes reminded her of the past hero. She stared at her hand mindlessly.
Smiled smiled softly when Kirishima's hand wound itself up to hers, "I thought you had fallen asleep."
"I was," he rested his chin on her shoulder, "you wanna talk about it?"
"Can we take her some flowers next week?" She looked at him.
"Of course we can," he kissed her shoulder, "She'd be really proud of you."
Mina chuckled, "You think so?"
"Yep. I mean, you graduate in the spring, you've got tons of offers from agencies, not to mention, you're with the best looking guy at UA-"
She laughed, "Ah I see now, you're so right. Thank you for reminding me."
He grinned, "I'll remind you any time I need to."
A knock at the door paused their conversation. The red heads eyebrows furrowed as an envelope slid under his door. Mina made a move to get it, "Don't, I'll get it." He got up and walked over. He sat on the bed and opened it. His eyes widened, "No way..."
Mina blinked and looked over his shoulder, "Wait, I thought they were sold out."
"S-Same," Kirishima blinked, "Holy shit. They're VIP seating too."
She grinned, "This is amazing."
"I wonder who got them?" He checked the envelope, "There isn't a name or anything."
Sunni smiled from her spot leaning against his door. She slowly stood, "That's better." She whispered to Bakugo.
He rolled his eyes. She went to move past him, he casually grabbed the hood of her hoodie, "I don't think so...Pinky told me to keep an eye on you."
Sunni blinked, "So are we just gonna stand in the hallway all night?"
He pulled her hood over her head, "Don't be a smart ass, come on." She yawned and sleepily followed him to his room. "You can't be running your mouth, Iida is nosy."
"Oh my, you gonna sneak me in here? Scandalous," she teased as he closed the door behind them. She smiled innocently when his eye twitched.
"Lay down and hush, I got homework to do," he turned on his desk lamp and reached over turning out his light.
She laid down on his bed and curled up under his covers, "Do I get a bedtime story?" She giggled when he glared at her, "You know I'm funny."
"Oh you're hilarious," he opened his notes and textbook, "Now be quiet."
A while had passed. Bakugo worked quietly as she slept. Once in awhile he'd glance over, making sure she was resting. His mind wondered to Aizawa at practice today. He paired them on purpose, which meant he knew about their experiment. Why would he of all people encourage that? He knew what it could do to the human body...it didn't make sense.
"If you think any harder, your brain is going to explode," Sunni's sleepy voice softly said.
He closed his book, "Go back to sleep, it was peaceful."
"You don't mean that," she chuckled and yawned.
He opened his mouth to retort, but she was already asleep. His phone buzzed, it was the fucking nerd.
'Have you heard from Sunni? I went to check on her and she wasn't in her dorm.'
'She's resting in my room. We needed to keep an eye on her.'
'Is she okay? I've been worried.'
Bakugo sighed, 'She's sore, but fine.' He thought for a moment, 'I think we should cool it with all this. At least until we understand it more.'
'You're right. I don't want to hurt anyone.'
The blond looked at her sleeping form, 'I know.'
He set his phone down and moved towards the bed. He reached his hand out and felt of her face, she was burning up. It made sense, she said she was achy and tired. Their exchange in energy today could have sent her immune system into overdrive to protect herself. "Sunni," he softly said, "wake up for a second."
"Why?" She cracked open an eye, "you gonna kick me to the curb?"
"As much as I want to, no." He felt of her face again, "You have a fever."
She sighed, "Oh of course I do..."
"It's almost ten, Recovery Girl is gone until tomorrow," he stood and went to his closet, "but, I have some stuff." She nodded and sat up slowly. He came back with a fever reducer and pain reliever, "Take 4 of them."
She nodded and took them, sipping the water from a bottle he had given her, "Thank you," her voice was soft.
"Yeah yeah, lay back down," he stood and yawned, "If you're not better in the morning-"
"I already know," she grumbled, settling back down into his blankets, the smell of burnt caramel hit her nose.
He watched her for a few moments before crawling into bed himself. He didn't think twice about curling up around her. She immediately snuggled against him, breathing deeply. He absentmindedly played with a strand of her hair. This didn't need to become a habit, he made a mental note. His last thoughts were of her as he drifted off into sleep.
