Author's note: Hello, dreamers! This one's gonna be big because it sets up the rest of the book, and, it was one of my favorite books to think of when I was younger! Remember in the last book when I was really excited to start writing Dire and Lilith's love story, or when I was excited about writing the truth of the Author and the incarnations? Well, this moment is my 'excited about' part of this book. I've been waiting to write this arc for almost a year, now! So, enjoy!
Characters Introduced (Or First Mentioned)

July 2013
It was a windy night in Haventown... As everyone tossed and turned in their beds, The Dreams blew through the town, through houses, apartments, and even the Mansion of Lucidity. The Daydreamers knew something was off, because why would everyone in the house be having nightmares on the same night?
Aurora ran to Lily's room. She had to wake her up, to protect her from The Dreams' influence! Aurora knocked on the young girl's door. "Lily? Are you awake?" No answer. She opened the door and entered. Lily lay fast asleep in her bed. But, she wasn't tossing and turning... Her eyes were open and glowing white... Lily was having her first vision... When the vision ended, she sat up.
"What happened?" She asked.
"Lily, everything's going to be ok!" Aurora said, running to her side. "You had your first vision! How exciting! What did you see?
"I don't know exactly what it means, but I'll try my best to explain: It was Halloween, and I was living in this big house. Not as big as this one, though. This is where it gets weird, though. It wasn't me. I was a different person, who lived with different people, in a different house, but this is where it gets weird. Megan was there. My mom in the dream had adopted her as my new sister. I think I was about 10 and she was maybe 12. Anyway, It was Halloween, and Megan and I got candy from a trunk or treat. They were pieces of taffy, but with Greek writing on them." Lily explained.
"Greek writing?" Aurora was curious. She walked over to Lily's art table and got a box of crayons and some paper. "How about drawing me a picture of this writing?" She asked.
Lily went to work. She copied the taffy as best as she could. When she was done, she handed Aurora the paper.
ROR, OK, PNK, JOX, HSS, and EEK were written on the paper, in red, green, pink, orange, black, and purple. Aurora recognized them instantly. "Those are the fraternity and sorority names from Monsters University! Lily, that's your next mission! You'll see the people from your first mission again!"
"YAAAAAY! I can't wait to go back! I'll see Boo, Randall, Celia, and everyone else!" Lily was already feeling the nostalgia from her first mission, even though it was only one year ago.
"Did anything else happen in your vision?" Aurora asked.
"One more thing. Megan kept stealing my taffy!" Lily said. Aurora chuckled.
But, all of a sudden, a puzzled expression appeared on Lily's face. "But then, later on, that night in the dream, I was out of bed when I wasn't supposed to be because I heard Megan talking to someone. I think it was about 12-something. She was in her room, talking on the phone to someone. She was saying something about capturing a guy named Johnny."
"That's the main villain of Monsters University!" Aurora said.
"Then Megan must be trying to capture him, and turn him into a permanent villain!" Lily said.
"That's what makes it all the more important that we save him. He isn't really a villain. at least not like the ones we've faced before." Aurora said.
"What does that mean?" Lily asked.
"All of the villains we've faced before have been evil right? Well, Johnny did do mean things in his movie, but he isn't truly evil, just jerkish. And, that's why we can't let him be turned into a full-fledged villain!" Aurora said.
"I agree with you. One more thing. I'm not mad, but why did you wake me up? Is something wrong?" Lily asked.
"Everyone seems to be having nightmares tonight. I think The Dreams have something to do with it. Since it's 6:00 in the morning, I'll wake everyone, and we'll go from there." Aurora said. She woke everyone up and got them together in the living room.
Lily told everyone about her dream. Esperanza's eyes widened. "Whaaaaaaat?" Esperanza gasped. "D-do you know what that was? That was a dream that The Author herself had back in 2013 when I was her incarnation! You just dreamed through the eyes of the author herself! You walked through her house in Reality, you saw her family, you... OH MY GOSH!" Esperanza hugged Lily.
"Wait, what? So, you mean I was outside of the story?" Lily asked. She could absolutely not believe what she was hearing! No one else could, either!
Coletta stepped forward. "Lily. You are a very special girl. The Author trusted you with her most important dream." Coletta asked, "Do you know what else happened in that dream?"
"What happened?" Lily asked.
"This dream is where The Author first created Megan. When she was 10, she dreamed of her parents adopting a 12-year-old girl, who turned out to be a villain. This girl was the first version of Megan." Coletta said.
"Wow... that's amazing! Do The Dreams have anything to do with this?" Lily asked.
"I think they do, especially because of this 'nightmare outbreak' we had tonight," Coletta said.
"Well, in that case, we'd better get going!" Lily said. The daydreamers got ready for the mission. Since it would be an important one, everyone went.
When they got to the Multiverse Hotel, they asked for the Monsters University door. When they were led to it, everyone was so excited to go!
"Alright, let's do this!" Cadenza said.
The entire daydreamer group joined hands and went through the door.
When they emerged, they were on the campus of Monsters University! Monster students were running and flying around everywhere! They had also transformed into the monster forms they used in the Monsters Inc mission since humans and monsters didn't mix yet.
"Wow!" Lily said, taking in her surroundings. As she was looking around, she saw Mike and Sully. "Mike, Sully!" She ran to her friends.
Since this movie was set before the events of Monsters Inc, and before Lily met them, they didn't know at first. Then they saw who was with the Daydreamers. It was their older selves! Somehow, the two younger versions could see into the memories of the older versions, and remembered their Daydreamer friends!
"Lily! Are you guys here to save us from The Dreams?" Sully asked.
"You bet we are! I had a vision from The Author, and it told me to come here!" Lily explained the dream she had.
Everyone was completely amazed! Coletta and Cadenza had visions about the future, but it was unheard of for someone to dream through the eyes of The Author herself!
"Wowzers... The Author... The person who controls this story... She gave the princess a vision..." Mike said.
"Yeah. Coletta told me the reason the dream is so important isn't just because it sent me here, it's because, in that dream, The Author created Megan for the first time!" Lily said.
"Wow, that's amazing!" Sully said.
"So, our mission in this movie will be to save Johnny Worthington from becoming a full-fledged villain!" Lily said.
"Psh, Johnny's already a 'full-fledged villain'..." Mike muttered.
"Well, not quite. See, a full-fledged villain is someone like Mr. Waternoose, Tex Richman, Dio, or someone who does truly evil things. Johnny isn't truly evil, because he's just a college student trying to find his way. Even though he can be mean sometimes.
"You know what? You're a good kid. Seeing the good in everyone, when I only saw the bad." Sully said.
"I just want everyone to live together in peace and harmony!" Lily said, with a smile.
"Well, then, we'd better go and warn Johnny!" Mike said.
The daydreamers went to the Roar Omega Roar house. When they knocked on the door, they were greeted by a red crab-like monster. "Welcome to Roar Omega Roar, the Best-GASP!" In the midst of his boasting, Chet noticed who was at his door. "You-you're the Daydreamers... The famous team that's been going on missions..." I guess the great Roar Omega Roar had met their match in the Daydreamers!
"Yes, and we've come to warn you guys! I had a dream last night about my cousin, Megan the Nightdreamer queen, plotting to capture Johnny!" Lily said. She also explained about the vision she had.
"Wow, that is amazing," Chet said, with wide eyes.
"Could you tell Johnny that we're here to help him?" Aurora said.
"One sec!" Chet slammed the door shut. The sound of him scuttling around could be heard from outside. A muffled conversation could also be heard. Chet opened the door. "Sorry, no can do. He doesn't want to talk to anyone right now.
"But it's urgent! We don't know why the Nightdreamers even want him yet." Lily said.
We hate to impose, but we really need to talk with him." Cadenza said.
"Ok, I'll ask him one more time," Chet said. Chet went into the house to talk with Johnny.
"Johnny? These guys really want to talk with you." Chet said.
"Go away," Johnny said. He was sitting at his desk, studying a book intensely.
"Is this about Carrie?" Chet asked.
Johnny turned his chair around and faced Chet. "I miss her so much... I just want her back..." Johnny said, tears in his eyes. It turned out, his girlfriend Carrie Williams, the PNK leader, had been captured by The Dreams, as a way to lure Johnny to them! Johnny, however, didn't know about the plot to capture him!
"You'll find her, I just know you will!" Chet said.
"No, I don't think I can. I would save her myself if I could, but as I told you, only the Daydreamers would be able to go within The Dreams, and make it out alive." Johnny said. "And, by the way, did you shoo those annoying fans away from the house, yet?" Oops. Chet had forgotten to tell Johnny who exactly was outside.
"Oh, didn't I tell you? Those people outside are the Daydreamers!" Chet said.
Johnny's jaw dropped. He turned to Chet. "Really? You couldn't tell me when they first got here?!" Johnny hastily ran to greet his guests.
"I am so sorry, guys!" Johnny rolled his eyes at Chet. "Chet here didn't tell me who exactly was here!" Johnny said. "Anyway, could you help me, please? I was told you guys could defeat The Dreams. They took my girlfriend, Carrie Williams, and you're the only ones who can save her!" Johnny said.
"Wait! I've figured out the Nightdreamers' plan!" Cadenza said. "They want Johnny to go and save her, so they can capture him! But what would they need him for?" Cadenza said.
"Wait, really? That's why they took her?" Johnny said. A lightbulb appeared above his head. "How about we come with you? We won't travel into The Dreams, but we'll be able to help you guys along the way! I'll even rally the other frats and sororities to come with me since the legendary Mansion of Lucidity has unlimited rooms!" Johnny had a good idea.
"That's been our plan all along!" Lily said, excitedly.
"Yeah, and, since Dean Hardscrabble plans to shut the school down until the The Dreams situation's resolved, we'll have something awesome to do until it reopens!" Johnny said.
"Waaaait, one more thing!" Mike said. "If I'm gonna be living with the guys who've been picking on us during this school year, I'm gonna need an apology!" Mike said.
"Ok. I'm sorry I was a jerk. I'm sorry I pulled that stuffed animal prank, and for all the other things I did." Johnny said. He, Mike, and Sully shook hands. Just then, it started raining Paragon Essence again!
After the essence was gathered, everyone was ready to go back to Haventown! Lily had never imagined she would become friends with an entire university of monsters! Everyone joined hands and walked through the portal...
Meanwhile, Megan had heard about Johnny being saved...
"The Daydreamers managed to warn Johnny! I guess I'll have to call upon the next villain in the mission plan!" Megan said. She stood up from the throne and walked over to an area where a bunch of giant one-eyed vacuum cleaners were being assembled...
