Fuck, Bakugo felt like disappearing right now. Tobias laughed and leaned on the counter, "Relax. Come have a seat. Would you like a drink?"
Bakugo swallowed before walking up and sitting at the bar, "Um, water's fine."
"She told me you were both here," he handed him a glass of water, "I only got in about an hour ago." Tobias sighed and looked at the young hero, "Mic called me about what happened last night."
Bakugo let out a breath and nodded, "It was bullshit. Endeavors back on my shit list now."
Tobias grinned, "I like you. I actually plan to drop him a visit. I wasn't supposed to be back in town for a few days, but, I felt like it was needed."
He took a sip of his water, "What are you going to do?"
"I haven't decided yet. I'm torn between beating his ass...or beating his ass."
Bakugo smirked, "I think the first one would suffice."
"Sunni would wipe the floor with me if I made a ruckus," he sighed, "But, I think I'll merely relay how unprofessional he's made himself, and if he hurts my sister again..." a look hit his green eyes that made Bakugo wonder.
"Does she know you're back?"
He shook his head, "Nah, she hates surprises." He reached over and grabbed an apple, "Thank you for all you've done for her."
Bakugo blinked, "I don't know what you're talking about."
Tobias chuckled, "Bakugo, you know I keep tabs on my baby sister," he gave him a knowing look, "I'm not an idiot. She can be a handful."
The blond scoffed, "That's an understatement. She's a pain in the ass..."
A hearty laugh left the man, "Finally someone who gets it." He chewed on his apple, "But she has a heart of gold."
The young hero nodded, looking at his glass for a moment, "She does. She's going to be one hell of a hero."
"Yet another thing we can agree on. She was born for it. I sadly was not."
"If you don't mind my asking, what is your quirk?"
"I don't mind at all," Tobias pushed off of the bar and looked at the blond. One moment he was there, the next he vanished, "I can cast illusions. I'm still standing in the same place, but I've given you the illusion I'm gone." He reappeared and sighed, "I'm afraid people would see it more of a villains quirk rather than a heroes." He leaned back on the counter, "But your quirk, that is something else."
Bakugo blinked. It made sense as to why Tobias didn't want to become a hero, given their parents past. Other heroes would have a hard time trusting a quirk like that. "My quirk?"
He nodded, "Yes. You're quirk is really interesting. It comes from your sweat, right? Then you can ignite it."
"Something like that." He was surprised Tobias knew so much about him.
Tobias grinned, "So say I went in there and threw a match in my sister..." Bakugo choked on his water making Tobias cackle, "I'm kidding." He threw his apple in the trash, "You're both adults, I'm just the big brother who has to give you both shit over it."
"Tobias stop picking on him," Sunni sleepily walked by in the T-shirt she had went to bed in. Clothing was in her arms. She looked at Bakugo, "Don't pay him any mind when he's like this."
Tobias gasped, "I'm hurt. Here I am just making friendly conversation-"
She placed a hand on her hip, "About setting me on fire...right..." She walked towards the bathroom, stopping to turn and narrow her eyes at her brother, "Behave."
He stuck his tongue out at her as she made her way to the bathroom. Bakugo was amused at their exchange. It was interesting to see the dynamic that was them, and not what is on stage. He had no siblings, so while he couldn't relate, he could still find humor. His phone buzzed, it was Stupid Hair again.
'Hey man, just checking in to make sure you guys are okay'
'Yeah we're fine.' He thought for a moment, ''You gonna be around today?'
'Yeah man, just pop in!'
He sat his phone in front of him and let out a long breath. Tobias watched him carefully, tilting his head. "Don't overthink it."
The blond furrowed his brows, "Overthink what?"
He motioned his head towards Sunni, "That. If you don't want things to change, Sunni is the type of woman to respect that."
His mouth twisted as he thought, "Yeah. It just...not something I'm familiar with." Why. Why was he telling him this shit? That was literally the brother of the woman he slept with last night.
"No matter the case I just ask one thing of you," he gave him a serious look, "Please keep her safe. This being a hero thing makes me nervous."
"Why are you asking me that," Bakugo tilted his head and studied the man.
"Because. I have traveled the world and met so many people," he walked around and placed a hand on his shoulder, "I know a good and capable man when I see one." He continued his way to the couch and sat down grabbing the remote, "You can make yourself at home here."
He sat in his thoughts for a moment, getting lost. This whole situation was strange. It was all new, and not something he ever even considered welcoming. He was focused on becoming a pro hero. Becoming number one. These kinds of distractions weren't something he would welcome.
"Hey," Sunni's soft voice almost made him jump. Her blue eyes studied him, "Are you okay?"
He paused for a moment before nodding, "Yeah, just tired I guess."
"We should head back and make sure those losers haven't burned the campus down," she smiled softly when he smirked, "You know they aren't the brightest crayons."
He nodded and went to get changed. Sunni walked over to her brother and sat on the couch with him. He put an arm around her shoulders and kissed her head, "I like him."
She chuckled, "I knew you would. He's a nice fellow." She sat up and looked at her brother, "Listen, I know why you're here early...I'm not an idiot. I'm sure Mic called you… Just please be careful-"
"I know Hallie," he moved his eyes from the TV to her, "I just want to let him know, that being Number One doesn't make him untouchable..."
"I'll go with you," she began. Tobias shook his head and raised his hand.
"Let me be a big brother, okay?"
"Tobias if you go alone, that could bring trouble."
"I'll go," Bakugo stood wearing part of what he had on last night. His button up shirt and jacket were in his hands. Leaving his tank top and black pants on his person. "That way if anything it'll get the point across."
Tobias clapped his hands and grinned, "See?! I won't be going alone!"
She sighed harshly, "I feel like you two are going to work my nerves." Tobias winked as she stood, "I'll call you later."
Her bother stood and gave her a hug, "Please do. I need to pick your genius little brain." He nodded to Bakugo, "Drop by anytime. I'll be in touch."
They walked back to campus in silence. Both of them seemed to be in thought. She was a few steps in front of him. Her mane had its curls again, cascading down her back. It was cool today, fall had made finally decided to show up., making the leaves begun to change their color. She wore a white fitted long sleeve shirt and dark blue jeans.
Before they got to campus he finally spoke, "Hallie."
She stopped and paused before she turned around, "Yeah?"
He looked at her for a moment, "Last night...I just-"
"It's okay," she smiled, "I stand by what I said before."
He sighed, "I just gotta figure myself out."
She nodded, "I get that. I support whatever you decide to do, okay?"
He placed a hand on her head and ruffled her hair, "Tobias told me to keep an eye on your annoying ass though...so don't go thinking your getting away."
She winked, "The thought never crossed my mind. But I'm going to ask now, what do you want me to call you?"
His red eyes darted to the ground for a moment while he pondered. He wanted her to use his first name. After last night it was only fair. But, he was torn. No one used that name with him but his parents. "I want you to use my first name." He looked at her, "If you're okay with that."
She nodded with a small smile and motioned to campus, "Let's go."
