Screw Loose: Yeah, that was nice.

TW: Well I'm glad you enjoyed the episode even if I did not. Glad to hear it.

The TARDIS materializes in a park. The doors open and The Doctor looks out, telling Amy they're not on the fifth moon of Sinda Callista. The Doctor begins to get out, saying he can see a Ryman's. The Doctor is inexplicably pushed out of the TARDIS by a gust of wind and lands on his back, looking up in shock as the TARDIS begins to disappear.

"What the bloody Hell?" Mickey asked in disbelief as the past viewers all stared at the screen in disbelief.

"What just happened?" Donna exclaimed, her voice eerily similar to when she had first teleported into the TARDIS.

"It's complicated and you find out in the recording anyway, so just watch it," Jane told them, tired of having to explain.

Inside, Amy frantically holds onto the Console as a stream of sparks falls from the ceiling. Looking at the scanner, Amy shouts that they're on Earth in Essex, Colchester. As the TARDIS begins to take off again, Amy calls out for The Doctor but receives no answer. Back in the park, The Doctor stares at the spot where the TARDIS had vanished.

"So, the TARDIS went haywire, Boss is stranded on Earth and Amy is trapped on a malfunctioning TARDIS," Mickey quickly summed up the situation.

"That about covers it, yeah," Jane nodded.

"This could not get worse," Jack declared.

The words 'one day later' appear on the screen. In a normal looking neighborhood, a teenage boy is walking down the street when he passes a house. A voice of an old man calls out. The boy looks around in bewilderment before spotting a buzzer on the building he was passing. The voices calls for help, claiming there's been an accident before the door opens.

"Well that's unsettling," Martha said, a pit beginning to form in her stomach.

"And it's usually how a lot of Torchwood cases I've worked start," Jack said, an uneasy feeling coming over him.

"And a lot of horror movies I've seen," Mickey added.

"Would you not get started on horror films again?" Donna asked annoyed.

The boy enters the house, looking around as lights flicker upstairs. "Please, will you help me?" the voice from outside asks. The boy asks what's wrong as an old man appears at the top of the stairs. "Something terrible's happened," he says ominously. "Please help me." The boy begins climbing up the stairs and the man heads back into a room. The boy follows him and the door closes behind him, seemingly of its own accord.

"And the horror movie feeling continues," Mickey muttered.

Donna didn't respond, mostly because she was starting to think Mickey was right. It did seem like the beginning of a horror film.

An uneasy feeling settled over the room as the past viewers watched uncomfortably, waiting to see what would happen next.

In the flat below, a man and a woman are in a kitchen. The woman asks the man, Craig about the ceiling, with what seems to be rot covering part of it. The woman asks who lives up there and Craig says 'just some bloke'. The woman shrugs and turns away, not seeing the mark stretch to further cover the wall and ceiling. The woman sits down on the couch and the man walks over, handing her a drink. They begin to discuss their plan for the evening when they hear a loud bang. The woman asks what the man upstairs is doing as a shot of the door is shown, lights flickering.

"What the bloody Hell?" Mickey asked in bewilderment and Jack narrowed his eyes.

"How does rot just…appear?" Martha asked in bewilderment.

"Considering what we saw just before, I think it's somehow connected to the upstairs," Jack mused.

"It's him!" Donna exclaimed as she stared at the screen in surprise, the other past viewers looking at her in bewilderment.

"Donna?" Wilf asked in confusion.

"The man, the man in the flat. He was in a picture in The Doctor's office," Donna explained.

"Boss has an office?" Mickey asked in surprise.

"Apparently. So this must be a friend of his," Martha mused as she looked back at the screen.

"Craig, I like Craig," Jane said with a slight smile.

"You met him?" Jack asked.

"Once. Dad and I were in London and ran into him. Boy was he surprised to find out who I was," Jane said, laughing at the memory.

The woman asks Craig if he's put the ad in the paper for his new tenant, which he has. The woman jokes about Craig's mission in life to be finding her a man as her cell phone rings. They joke about having to settle for each other before the woman answers her phone. The person on the other line asks her a question and she says she has plans. Craig is climbing the sofa, examining the widened rot when she says her plans are 'Just Craig'. "Oh, thanks Soph," Craig says sarcastically. She apologizes before telling the person on the other line she'll talk to Craig about it and hanging up. As Craig climbs back down, Sophie explains her friend is having a 'Dylan Crisis'. She apologizes, saying she needs to go and asks if he minds. Craig says he doesn't. Sophie offers to stay but Craig encourages her to go, blowing off their plans as 'just pizza'. Sophie seems disappointed.

"She likes him," Martha noted.

"It's pretty obvious," Donna agreed with a smile.

"To everyone but him it seems," Jack noted.

They say goodbye and Sophie walks out. As she closes the door behind her Sophie sighs sadly before walking away. As she begins to walk out, she hears a loud thud from upstairs.

No one said a word, but a sinking feeling had enveloped the room. There was little doubt about the fate of the young boy.

Sophie hears some footsteps before quickly walking out of the building. Inside his flat, Craig stares at a picture of himself and Sophie on the fridge. "Just tell her. Just tell her 'I love you'," Craig tells himself.

"And it's apparently mutual," Mickey noted.

"So why don't they just say how they feel?" Wilf wondered.

"Because when people are in love, they're idiots," Jack said.

"Truer words have never been spoken," Martha said with a smile.

Craig begins practicing a speech to Sophie before banging his head against the freezer. The doorbell rings and Craig realizes Sophie left her keys. He grabs them and begins heading towards the front door. He begins practicing saying I love until he reaches the front door. "I love you!" he says before pausing as he sees The Doctor. "Well that's good, 'cause I'm your new lodger," The Doctor says before taking Sophie's keys. "Do you know, this is going to be easier than I expected."

"I guess this is how they meet," Donna said as they all chuckled in amusement.

"Hell of a first meeting," Mickey said with a grin.

Craig is confused on how quickly The Doctor came, as he didn't put his address in the ad. "Well, aren't you lucky I came along? More lucky than you know," The Doctor says as he looks around before declaring he is an 'absolute dream'.

"Not the words I would use," Martha said dryly.

"I would," Jack said with a smile that left no doubt to where his thoughts were heading. "Ow! What'd you hit me for?"

"To get your mind out of the gutter," Martha said blankly as the others looked amused at their antics.

Craig tells him he's not sure yet if he wants him to stay and yanks Sophie's keys back. The Doctor easily hands them over before passing Craig a bag of cash which he calls 'rent'. Craig is surprised by the amount of money inside as The Doctor asks if it's a lot before heading inside. Craig, bewildered, closes the door behind him.

"Where the bloody Hell did he get all that money?" Mickey asked in bewilderment.

"Probably from his job," Jane mused and got four incredulous looks.

"He has a job?" Donna asked in surprise.

"He works for UNIT," Jack said, seeming amused at their reactions. "You didn't know that?"

"How do you?" Martha asked, having a hard time believing it.

"Like I said, Torchwood had extensive files on The Doctor," Jack said simply before shrugging. "I had a long time to read them."

Inside, The Doctor looks up the stairs at the flickering lights, absently telling Craig not to spend the money on sweets. The Doctor then kisses Craig on the cheeks, asking if that's how people greet each these days before introducing himself to the bewildered Craig. "They call me The Doctor. Don't know why. I call me The Doctor to. Still don't know why," The Doctor notes.

"If he keeps this up, Craig might think The Doctor is mad," Wilf mentioned.

"So far, he just seems to think The Doctor is a little off," Jack noted. "Still not sure why The Doctor is there though."

"Most likely has something to do with the TARDIS, like Jane said," Donna said, looking at Jane for confirmation and Jane nodded.

Craig introduces himself, asking about The Doctor's name before The Doctor asks who lives upstairs. Craig says it's just some bloke and The Doctor asks what he looks like. "Normal. He's very quiet," Craig says before they hear a crash from upstairs. "Usually."

"So whatever's happening is recent then," Martha noted.

"Something had to trigger it," Jack said, wondering what could have happened.

"But what?" Martha asked but no one had an answer.

The Doctor heads into the kitchen as Craig continues to ask him questions. The Doctor sees the rot and asks about it. Craig admits he doesn't really know and says he'll get someone to fix it but The Doctor promises he will. "I'm good at fixing rot, call me the Rotmeister. No, I'm The Doctor, don't call me the Rotmeister," The Doctor says. The Doctor compliments the Parlour, calling Craig's taste impeccable as he sits down on the counter. The Doctor asks if he can say and Craig points out he hasn't even seen it yet, offering to show it to him. "Take me to my room," The Doctor says.

"That was terrible Spaceman," Donna said with a smile.

"Him and his inside jokes," Martha said with a chuckle.

"Which are still just as bad," Jack said with a grin.

Craig takes The Doctor to his room, opening the door. They step inside, The Doctor examining the bed as Craig explains the previous tenant had moved out after inheriting a large sum of money from an uncle he'd never heard of. The Doctor says this will do fine when they hear a loud crash from upstairs. The lights flicker on the floor above and The Doctor puts a finger in his mouth. Craig looks at him oddly as he held it up in the air before announcing he'll take it. The Doctor then pulls out his psychic paper, using them for credentials. Craig is surprised to see a reference from the Archbishop of Canterbury and The Doctor claims he's his 'special favorite'.

"And I'm sure that won't make Craig suspicious at all," Mickey said sarcastically.

"Sometimes The Doctor does his job too well it seems," Jack said with a grimace.

"Using an Archbishop in this situation? What were you thinking Spaceman?" Donna asked in exasperation.

The Doctor then asks if Craig's hungry as they head back to the kitchen. Craig says he doesn't have anything to eat as The Doctor pulls some items out from the fridge, telling him he has everything he needs for an 'Omlette fines herbes pour deux'. As he begins cooking, The Doctor sees the photo of Sophie and Craig on the fridge, asking about her. Craig explains she's his 'friend who's a girl' and they met a year ago at work, revealing he works at a call center. The Doctor calls this 'handy' but Craig reveals the business is going down the drain due to the boss's mismanagement. Craig says he has a plan to save it but is hesitant to approach his boss about it before wondering why he's telling The Doctor this.

"There's just something about him that makes you want to open up," Donna mused, remembering her first meeting with The Doctor.

"It's like a special power he has," Martha agreed with a smile.

The Doctor claims he's got a face that makes people blurt out their plans as he continues cooking. Craig asks The Doctor where his stuff is and he says it will 'materialize if it all goes to plan', confusing Craig. Back in the park, the TARDIS begins to materialize as Amy tries to figure out which control to use, wondering why the TARDIS won't land. The TARDIS vanishes once more.

"Doesn't seem like that will be any time soon," Mickey noted as they all eyed the screen uneasily.

"Knowing The Doctor, he's working on that," Jack said, curious to The Doctor's plan.

Back at the flat, The Doctor and Craig sit down after eating. Craig wonders where The Doctor learned to cook and Doctor says Paris in the 18th century before realizing it's not recent. He amends it was in the 20th century, apologizing as he's not used to doing things in the right order as Craig looks at him oddly. "Has anyone ever told you you're a bit weird?" Craig asks. "They never stop," The Doctor says.

"Well, there'll never be a man quite like you Doctor," Jack said with a grin.

"That's putting it lightly," Martha said with a laugh.

The Doctor asks if Craig has ever been to Paris and Craig admits he doesn't see the point in traveling. The Doctor jokes he's starting to look like his sofa and Craig laughs. "No, I like it here. I'd miss it. I'd miss…" Craig trails off as he looks down at Sophie's keys in his hand. "Your keys?" The Doctor supplies.

"This is more painful to watch than Tosh with Owen," Jack said.

"Craig has it bad," Mickey noted.

"If only he knew it was mutual," Martha said with a slight smile.

"Seeing these two, it would take the end of the universe for them to admit how they feel," Jack noted.

Jane barely contained the laugh that bubbled up in her chest. Jack had no idea how right he was.

The Doctor tells Craig he's fondling the keys. Craig protests but does put them down. Getting up, he grabs a set of keys from a bowl and hands them to The Doctor, telling him they're the keys to his room. "You're weird and you can cook, it's good enough for me," Craig says. Craig tells The Doctor which key goes where as The Doctor excitedly notes he has his own room. Craig then tells him about his previous arrangement with Mark where he should 'give him a shout' if he wants to bring a girl or guy over. The Doctor is confused and Craig explains. "Oh, I will give a shout. Sort of like I WAS NOT EXPECTING THIS!" The Doctor shouts.

"He's been alive for over 900 years, how can he be so oblivious?" Donna asked in disbelief.

"Women were never Dad's specialty," Jane said with a slight smile.

"Tell me about it," Martha said dryly, remembering how The Doctor had remained completely oblivious to her feelings for him until she'd told him so.

Craig gives him an odd look before The Doctor tells him they shouldn't touch the rot. The Doctor taps Craig on the shoulder before walking off. Craig looks at the rot before shrugging. In his room, The Doctor is lying on his bed, an ear piece in his ear as he tries to contact Amy. On the TARDIS, Amy answers with a shout and The Doctor winces from the sound, telling her not to wreck his new ear piece. In Craig's room, Craig is lying in bed as he talks to Sophie on the phone, telling her about The Doctor. Sophie is surprised by the all the money The Doctor had and suspects he might be a dealer.

"Brilliant job Spaceman," Donna groaned as she pinched the bridge of her nose.

"For how intelligent he is, he really isn't that good at blending in," Jack noted.

"Dad has many skills. Acting like a normal human is not one of them," Jane said with a sigh.

Outside, a woman is walking passed the flat when the voice of a man calls out to her, calling for help.

"And here we go again," Mickey muttered as they past viewers tensed.

"Not again," Wilf whispered.

The Doctor asks Amy about the TARDIS and she holds out the speaker, allowing him to listen to the sounds. The Doctor immediately realizes the TARDIS is trapped in a materialization loop. Amy points out whatever is stopping the TARDIS from landing is upstairs in the flat, telling him to sort it. Outside, the man's voice claims his daughter is hurt and the woman walks into the flat.

"Run, just run the other way," Martha pleaded.

"Unfortunately, most people ignore common sense when confronted with someone hurt," Jack said with a heavy sigh. "It's something I both admire and admonish about the human face."

The Doctor notes he doesn't know what's upstairs just yet but anything that can stop the TARDIS from landing is 'scary big'. Surprised, Amy asks if he's scared.

"If this scares Boss, it must be bad," Mickey said uneasily.

"And the only way he can fix it is to figure out what's upstairs and stop it," Donna noted.

The woman walks up the stairs, seeing a man standing at the top. He asks for help, to her confusion.

"Don't go," Wilf pleaded although he knew it was useless.

Everyone watched tense, knowing what was about to happen and hating that they were all helpless to stop it.

Craig and Sophie are still talking when he hears something. He puts the phone down and gets out of bed as he hears The Doctor talking to Amy. The Doctor says it's vital the 'man upstairs' not realize who and what he is. Which is why he can't use any of his technology, only able to communicate with Amy by putting the earpiece on scramble. The Doctor says anyone listening would hear gibberish as Craig listens from his room as The Doctor seems to say random words in random sentences that make no sense.

"That's pretty handy," Jack muttered, thinking of many Torchwood assignments where such a device would have been useless.

"I'll say," Mickey agreed, thinking of how useful such a device would have been against the Cybermen.

Which is probably why The Doctor hadn't given it to him, Mickey noted silently. He could only interfere in history so much.

The Doctor tells Amy he needs to pass for a normal human, what could go wrong? "Have you seen you?" Amy asks. "So you're just gonna be snide, no helpful hints?" The Doctor asks. She tells him to get rid of the bowtie and he says defensively that bowties are cool.

"The day he gets rid of the bowtie is the day dinosaurs roam the earth again," Donna said with a laugh.

Jane fought a smile, imagining the look on Donna's face once they got to the third set of recordings.

Amy is exasperated as The Doctor asks her what normal blokes do. "They watch telly, they play footage, they go down to the pub," Amy tells him. The Doctor thinks this will be no problem when he hears a bang on the other end. Amy screams as she grabs onto the railing while the TARDIS rocks violently.

"It's getting worse," Martha said uneasily.

"The Doctor needs to find a way to fix whatever is happening before it's too late," Wilf said worriedly as they all became concerned for Amy.

"Without the TARDIS? He'll need to be clever about it," Jack noted, curious as to how The Doctor would handle it.

The Doctor sees all the clocks in his room spinning out of control and realizes it's a localized time loop. Amy is confused as The Doctor says whatever's upstairs is still affecting the TARDIS. Upstairs, the woman screams from behind the door.

Jack, Martha and Mickey grimaced as Wilf lowered his head and Donna looked ready to cry. An innocent woman had died and nothing they could do would change it.

"That poor woman," Wilf said and no one could disagree.

The shaking gradually subsides although there is still slight trembling in the TARDIS as the clocks return to normal. "Doesn't sound great but nothing to worry about?" Amy asks. "No, no, no, not really. Just keep the zigzag plotter on full, that'll protect you," The Doctor says. Amy pulls a lever but it's the wrong one. The Doctor asks her if her back is to the door and she says yes. He tells her to move two steps to the right and pull it again. She does and the lights on the TARDIS blink. Amy sighs in relief. The Doctor tells her he has to go pick up a few items. She tries to say something but he takes out the earpiece and leaves it on his bed.

"So each time whatever s up there lures someone up there, it sets the TARDIS off," Donna noted.

"And it's apparently a shape shifter," Jack noted, wondering what could be doing this.

"Any ideas?" Martha asked and Jack shrugged. "Suspicions?"

"For once, I'm clueless," Jack admitted, not liking the feeling.

Later that night, The Doctor pulls a cart up to the flat, looking up at the upstairs. "Don't get too comfortable," The Doctor says before pulling the cart inside.

"Looks like Boss is going to put that big brain of his to use and make…something," Mickey said lamely, curious as to what The Doctor was going to make.

"Well he's a genius. Although I wonder what he could be making," Jack mused.

The next morning, Craig stands outside the bathroom, waiting for The Doctor as he sings in the shower. Craig knocks on the door, asking how long he'll be in there. "I like a good soak," The Doctor says from in the shower.

"I can imagine," Jack said, his mind going to some rather perverted areas.

Martha looked at him in exasperation. Jack was worse than she had been while crushing on The Doctor.

Everyone else eyed Jack oddly but made no comment. Even Wilf was starting to get the idea it was best to just ignore those comments from Jack.

Craig hears a loud bang from upstairs and looks up, wondering what that is. Craig tells The Doctor he's going to go upstairs and check on his other tenant but The Doctor can't hear him over the shower.

"Oh bloody Hell," Mickey groaned as they all tensed.

"Craig," Donna said worriedly.

"Well, if he survived to take a picture with The Doctor, I'm pretty sure he's fine," Jack pointed out although he looked concerned as well.

Craig heads upstairs and knocks on the door. The old man from earlier cracks the door slightly as, in the bathroom; The Doctor pulls the shower curtain aside, asking for Craig but receiving no response. Realizing where Craig went, The Doctor tries to rush out but falls and lands on the floor. Craig says he heard a loud bang as The Doctor frantically reaches for his screwdriver, which he has placed in the toothbrush holder. The old man says everything is fine before closing the door in Craig's face.

"It just…left him alone," Martha said as the past viewers stared at the screen in bewilderment.

"But why? It keeps calling out to all those people," Donna pointed out.

"It's looking for something specific. And for whatever reason, Craig doesn't meet its criteria," Jack mused, wondering what was different about Craig.

"So it has standards to its victims?" Mickey asked incredulously.

"Apparently," Jack shrugged.

The Doctor rushes out of the bathroom, dropping his towel before frantically putting it back on and rushing down the corridor. Craig is walking down the stairs when The Doctor rushes to the bottom step, demanding to know what's going on as he wields a toothbrush. Craig asks if that is his and The Doctor realizes it's not his screwdriver.

"And this is only going to make him look mad," Donna muttered.

The Doctor realizes Craig spoke to the man upstairs and asks what he looks like. "More normal than you do at the moment, mate. What are you doing?" Craig asks. The Doctor said he thought Craig was in trouble and Craig laughs, saying he can come and save him with his toothbrush if he ever is.

"Apparently not mad enough to make Craig kick him out," Martha said looking surprised.

"Craig seems pretty tolerant of a lot of The Doctor's quirks," Jack noted, impressed. "Not something I can say of a lot of humans."

"Tell me about it," Martha muttered, remembering her mother's first reaction to The Doctor.

The phone rings and Craig goes to answer it. The Doctor walks up the stairs, looking at the door curiously as the front door opens. Sophie walks in and is startled to see The Doctor in a towel as he turns around, surprised to see her.

"Running into a half-naked man in the hallway, every woman's dream," Donna said dryly.

"It's certainly mine," Jack said with a grin, causing everyone to shoot him an odd look.

The Doctor introduces himself, walking down the stairs. He realizes this is Sophie and kisses her on the cheeks, to her surprise. The Doctor walks into the kitchen as Craig is talking on the phone. Craig pauses in his phone call, asking him if he wants to join his pub league came. The Doctor thinks it's a drinking competition but Craig clarifies it's a football game. The Doctor agrees.

"The Doctor? In a football game?" Martha asked uneasily, thinking of all the ways this could go wrong.

"This could go really well or really badly," Jack said, sharing similar thoughts with Martha.

"I'm sure it won't be that bad," Donna said and they looked at her incredulously. "Yeah, I didn't believe myself."

Craig thanks him, telling the person on the other line he's got someone before ending the call. He greets Sophie, who says she came to meet The Doctor. The Doctor asks if Sophie plays and Craig jokes she's his mascot. Sophie seems offended and Craig quickly tries to explain he can't take a date. "I didn't say I was your date," Sophie says. "Neither did I," Craig says quickly.

"Oi, just kiss already!" Donna snapped, already tired of seeing them dance around each other.

"Then how will we get the big subplot of them dodging their feelings?" Jack asked dryly.

There is an awkward moment before The Doctor hands Craig his toothbrush, saying he needs to get dressed. As The Doctor heads into the bathroom, Craig tells him where the spare kit is at. The Doctor says it's a mess before closing the door. Craig asks Sophie what she thinks. "You didn't say he was gorgeous," Sophie says.

"And naturally Craig will love that," Donna said sarcastically.

"This is worse than me and Rose," Mickey declared and no one disagreed.

"In my day, if you liked someone you told them," Wilf noted.

"Dating was a lot simpler back then," Jack agreed.

"Would you like us to leave while you two discuss the good old days?" Martha asked dryly.

The Doctor cracks the door, asking how Sophie got in if she left her keys the day before. Sophie asks how he knew they were hers and Craig awkwardly says he's been holding them. Sophie tells The Doctor she has another set, holding them up. "You have two sets of keys to someone else's house?" The Doctor asks and she says yeah. "You must like it here to." The Doctor closes the door and Craig and Sophie look at each other awkwardly before walking away from each other.

"They're practically married already," Jack said amused.

"All they need to do is tell each other how they feel," Donna noted.

In his room, The Doctor talks to Amy on the earpiece as he gets dressed in Craig's spare uniform, telling her that the man upstairs might get suspicious if he's hanging around all the time. Amy compliments him on acting normal as she uses a magnifying glass to look at the ceiling of the TARDIS out of boredom. "Yeah, football's all outdoorsy. Now, football's the one with the sticks, isn't it?" The Doctor asks.

"This can only end badly," Mickey said, no one noticing the amused smile on Jane's face.

The Doctor, Craig and Sophie are walking up to the field as Craig asks for The Doctor's name, saying introducing him as The Doctor is weird. Craig's friends greet him and he waves, exchanging a hand shake with one of them. The Doctor introduces himself to one, Sean, who doesn't seem to have a problem with The Doctor's name. Sean asks where The Doctor is strongest and The Doctor says arms. Craig clarifies which position and The Doctor says he's not sure. Sean asks if he's any good and The Doctor spins the football on his fingers. "Let's find out," The Doctor says.

"Or maybe not," Jack said as the past viewers looked intrigued.

The game starts and Craig passes the ball to The Doctor. The Doctor easily runs passes several members of the other team with the ball, impressing Sophie. Craig watches in disbelief as The Doctor scores a goal, Sophie and his friends cheering him on. Craig looks over at Sophie, who tells him he's brilliant.

"Blimey. Is there anything he can't do?" Mickey asked the past viewers looked at the screen in disbelief.

"Apparently pass for an ordinary bloke," Donna mused.

"If I'd known he was this good, I would have taken him to some football games with some of my mates," Mickey muttered.

The referee puts the ball back on the field. Craig goes to kick it but The Doctor gets there first, kicking it right into the goal post. Sophie and the rest of the team cheer. The Doctor lays on the ground as the rest of the team surrounds him, cheering for him. The Doctor sits up, declaring he loves this game. The game continues with The Doctor scoring goal after goal and the entire crowd chanting his name as Craig watches in frustration.

"Poor Craig," Donna said as they all felt sympathy for him.

"No one likes to get shown up," Mickey agreed.

"Especially by the person you invited to the game," Martha added.

By the flat, a woman is walking passed when a young girl's voice comes over the buzzer, asking for help. Curiously, the woman walks up to the door and walks inside.

"Not another one," Wilf pleaded as tension filled the room again.

"How many more people will we have to see die?" Martha asked horrified.

"As you watch these recordings, plenty," Jane said sadly. "Even Dad can't save everyone, as much as he tries."

A girl is staring at the top of the stairs, claiming to have lost her mother. "You poor thing, what's happened?" the woman asks as she begins to walk up the stairs, the girl asking for help finding her mother.

"Don't go," Donna pleaded even though she knew it was useless.

Back at the game, the team is sitting on a bench, celebrating. Sean says with The Doctor, they'll annihilate the competition. "Annihilate? No, no violence, do you understand me? Not while I'm around, not today, not ever. I'm The Doctor, the oncoming storm, and you basically meant beat them in a football match, didn't you?" The Doctor realizes and Sean nods. "Lovely. What sort of time?"

"Great job at blending in Boss," Mickey muttered.

Normally, he'd be amused, but since he knew what was about to happen, he didn't feel much amusement.

Craig opens his can of soda and it explodes in his face. The Doctor turns to look as Sophie and the others laugh before the scene replays. The Doctor realizes they're trapped in another localized time loop and walks off. Back at the house, lights are shown flickering behind the upstairs room as the woman screams.

Everyone winced but no one made a sound. They already knew what was causing it, but it didn't make it any easier to see.

The Doctor contacts Amy, who says it's happening again, even worse than before. The Doctor asks what the scanner says. "A lot of 9s," Amy says after checking it. "Is it good that they're 9s? Tell me it's good that they're all 9s." The Doctor lies, saying yes before telling her to use the zigzag plotter. Amy does but it has no affect. Amy screams as she's thrown aside, barely managing to grab onto part of the top of the console. The Doctor worriedly calls out for Amy and she answers as the TARDIS's rocking gradually subsides. The Doctor is relieved; having feared the TARDIS had been sucked into a time vortex, lost forever. Amy pales as he says this.

"Oh brilliant, so that was a risk," Martha said sarcastically.

"Okay, enough playing around Boss. You need to figure out what that thing is upstairs before any more people get hurt, including Amy," Mickey snapped.

Amy tells him he has to get her out of there and he asks about the numbers. Amy checks the scanner and says they're 5s now. The Doctor looks over at the team, where they're talking as Sophie laughs with Craig as he tells her this is even better. "Still, this means the effect's almost unbelievably powerful and dangerous, but don't worry. I've got some rewiring to do," The Doctor says. Amy tells him to hang on but he's already taken out the earpiece.

"Rewiring? Wondering what his plan is," Donna mused.

"Knowing The Doctor, something ridiculously complicated," Jack said with a slight grin.

Back at the flat, Craig knocks on The Doctor's door. The Doctor opens the door, holding a traffic cone. Craig says Sophie's coming by tonight and requests The Doctor give them some space. The Doctor promises they won't know he's there before they hear a loud crash from upstairs. "That's the idea anyway," The Doctor says as they look at the ceiling. The Doctor then closes the door and Craig hears him doing something and making pleased exclamations. Craig shakes his head before walking off.

"Looks like Craig is starting to get a little fed up with The Doctor," Wilf noted.

"Wouldn't you?" Jack asked pointedly and Wilf nodded, realizing he probably wouldn't have taken it any better in Craig's shoes.

That night, Craig and Sophie are in the sitting room, Sophie remarking the rot has grown bigger. Sophie asks if they're going out but Craig asks if they can stay in, as he's had a weird day. Sophie agrees before turning off her phone so they won't be interrupted. Craig then tries to confess his love for Sophie but has trouble getting the words out. "Where's this going?" Sophie asks. "I think that we…should…" Craig trailed off as Sophie looks at him with curiosity and a bit of hope. "Hello," the two turn to see The Doctor sitting behind the couch.

"Way to kill the mood Spaceman," Donna said sarcastically.

"So much for Craig's plans," Mickey said, wincing in sympathy for Craig.

The Doctor assures them he wasn't listening as Craig snaps he was going out. The Doctor explains he was reconnecting all the electrics and pulls out a regular screwdriver, asking where the on switch is.

"You dumbo," Donna groaned, nearly face palming.

"Oh Doctor, you really are hopeless without future technology," Martha said, torn between amusement and exasperation.

Craig assures Sophie The Doctor was on his way out but she doesn't mind if Craig doesn't. Craig lies, saying he doesn't mind and Sophie asks The Doctor to have a drink with them. The Doctor asks if he has to and Craig asks annoyed if he wants to. The Doctor says he doesn't mind as Craig gets frustrated.

"And naturally Craig is going to love this," Mickey said dryly.

"How can two people who like each other be so oblivious?" Donna asked, embarrassed for both of them.

"They're too afraid to take that next step, or in Craig's case don't know how to put it into words," Jane said.

Shortly after, The Doctor is examining multiple wires as Sophie talks about how she feels life can be worthless when six billion people are doing the same thing as you. "Watching you two work, I'm starting to wonder where they all come from," The Doctor muttered distractedly. Craig looks at him sharply as Sophie asks what he means.

"He has a point. These two make Tosh's feelings for Owen look like a schoolgirl crush," Jack mused.

"And from what I saw, Tosh had it bad for Owen," Martha said, remembering Tosh's rather obvious feelings for Owen from when she briefly worked with Jack's team.

"You have no idea," Jack said, thinking back on Tosh fondly.

The Doctor asks Sophie what she wants to do if she's not satisfied at the call center. Sophie says she'd like to work with animals, possible abroad. The Doctor asks what's stopping her as he works and Craig quickly says Sophie would need loads of qualifications. Sophie agrees, adding that she's uncertain as everyone she knows is here. Sophie reveals Craig turned down a job in London and Craig says he didn't see the point of London. "Well, perhaps that's you then. Perhaps you'll just stay here, secure, and a little bit miserable until the day you drop. Better than trying and failing, yeah?" The Doctor says.

"Well that's rather rude," Wilf noted.

"Too rude. Well played Doctor," Jack said as he smiled, seeing what The Doctor was doing.

"What?" Mickey asked, not getting it.

"He's trying to put her on the defensive so she'll fight back," Martha said, also realizing The Doctor's plan.

Sophie asks if he thinks she'd fail. "Everyone's got dreams Sophie. Very few are going to achieve them, so why pretend?" The Doctor asks, pausing in his work to take a drink. He immediately spits it out, to Craig and Sophie's disgust.

"Looks like this Regeneration doesn't care for wine," Jack noted.

"This version of Boss has weird tastes," Mickey said and no one disagreed.

The Doctor suggests that a call center is where Sophie's meant to be and she gets angry. The Doctor asks if it's true and she says it's not. "I'm not staying in a call center all my life. I can do anything I want!" Sophie snaps.

"Oh he is good," Mickey said as he put together The Doctor's plan.

"Making her angry enough to decide to put aside her fear," Jack agreed with a grin.

"It's an odd form of encouragement but one someone like Sophie needs," Martha noted.

As The Doctor smiles, Sophie laughs as she understands what he was doing. Craig is confused by what's happening. "It's a big old world Sophie. Work out what's really keeping you here, eh?" The Doctor says subtly. Sophie claims not to know as she and Craig avoid looking at each other.

"Oh for the love of, just kiss already!" Donna snapped, over it already.

"You of all people should know it's never that easy Donna," Jane said dryly.

Later, Craig walks Sophie to the door, asking if she plans on taking off to see the world. She asks if he thinks she should and he says he does. "Like The Doctor said, what's keeping you here?" Craig asks. "Exactly, what?" Sophie asks and there's an awkward pause. They say goodbye, exchanging a hug before Sophie walks to the door. As Craig walks back into his flat, he doesn't see the upstairs lights flicker.

"Well that's ominous," Martha noted.

"And concerning," Jack noted, unable to shake the uneasy feeling that suddenly came over him. "Whenever those lights flicker, something terrible always seems to happen."

"So what's happening now?" Donna wondered as the past viewers watched the screen uneasily.

In his room, The Doctor has created a device from the items he had brought back last night and the electrical wires from the house. Amy asks what he sees and The Doctor informs her there are no traces of high technology, to his disbelief. It's too normal. "Only for you could too normal be a problem. You said I could be lost forever, just go upstairs," Amy snaps. "Without knowing and get myself killed? Then you really are lost," The Doctor counters.

"It's a lose-lose situation. Until Boss knows more, he can't go up there," Mickey noted.

"But the longer he waits, there's a bigger risk that Amy could be lost forever," Donna said uneasily.

"Like Mickey said, a lose-lose situation. The Doctor needs to hurry and find out what's going on," Martha said as they all watched the screen uneasily.

The Doctor notes he just needs a look before getting an idea. Stopping the device, he tells Amy to get him the data plans for this building. Meanwhile, he needs a spy.

"What kind of spy would he need?" Martha asked bewildered and Jane gave a mysterious smile.

"A furry one," Jane said, laughing at the bewildered looks on their faces. "You'll understand in a bit."

In the sitting room, Craig is cleaning up when he looks up at the rot. Curiosity getting the better of him, Craig climbs up on the couch and touches it. He yelps as he's shocked, shaking his hand.

"And once again, humanity's need to go up to something they don't understand bites them in the arse," Jane said as the past viewers groaned.

"And now something's going to happen to Craig," Jack said as a statement rather than a question.

"How'd you guess?" Jane asked dryly.

The next morning, The Doctor heads towards Craig's room, a tray of freshly made breakfast in hand. He knocks on Craig's door but receives no answer. Getting worried, The Doctor opens the door, finding Craig still lying in bed, unconscious.

"Bloody Hell. Is he dead?" Mickey asked as the past viewers stared at the screen in horror.

"Another hour, he would have been," Jane revealed.

"Just what is upstairs and how can it make something so dangerous out of rot?" Martha wondered.

The Doctor quickly rushes over, realizing Craig has touched the rot. Picking up Craig's arm, he sees a vein has turned black, realizing Craig has been poisoned. The Doctor tells him to breathe, striking Craig's chest and Craig gasps. The Doctor grabs the kettle off the tray and rushes out of the room. Running into the kitchen, The Doctor adds something from the counter and the trash to the tea before rushing back into Craig's room. The Doctor feeds the remedy to Craig, who wakes.

"Oh thank God," Donna said as they all breathed a sigh of relief.

"Guess The Doctor isn't just a title he uses," Martha noted.

"He's been around a bit, he's picked up some things over the centuries," Jane said with a shrug.

"Clearly," Jack said, intrigued about what else The Doctor may have picked up in all that time.

Craig weekly says he needs to go to work but The Doctor tells him he needs rest. The Doctor feeds him another dose and Craig swallows before saying this meeting is important. "You're important," The Doctor tells him. Craig passes out and The Doctor assures him he'll be fine. Several hours pass before Craig wakes up, shocked by how late it is. He jumps out of bed, ignoring the tray of food and rushes out of the room. Getting dressed, Craig rushes out of his flat and to work. Once he arrives, he rushes up to his boss, trying to explain when The Doctor pokes his head up, on call with a client to Craig's shock.

"Okay, wasn't expecting that," Mickey said as they all looked at the screen in surprise.

"He really is unpredictable," Jack noted.

"More like he has no boundaries," Martha said and Jack nodded, conceding her point.

Craig asks what he's doing there as the person on the other line says something to The Doctor. "If that's your attitude Mr. Lang, I suggest you take your custom elsewhere," The Doctor says. Craig protests, as Mr. Lang is one of his best clients. The Doctor greets Craig happily, asking how he's feeling before saying he was curious about working in an office. Craig calls him insane.

"Well there goes the relationship," Martha noted.

"Can't really blame Craig. I'd probably have had enough at this point myself," Wilf noted with a grimace.

"Not everyone is so used to The Doctor's brand of insanity," Jack agreed.

Craig's boss tells him to lay off The Doctor, saying he was brilliant in the meeting. Craig is in disbelief as The Doctor explains he was Craig's representative, saying they don't need 'rude Mr. Lang' anymore. Sophie walks over, handing The Doctor some coffee and a small plate of biscuits. The Doctor thanks her as she tells Craig about applying for a wildlife charity and they want her right away. She asks Craig what he thinks and, distracted by what's happening, he says go for it.

"Oh Craig," Martha and Donna groaned.

"Craig might be his own worst enemy when it comes to Sophie," Jack noted.

"To be fair, Craig is pretty distracted," Jane shrugged.

The Doctor tells Craig he should go to bed, as he looks awful while Sophie, disappointed, walks away. Craig's boss waves Craig goodbye and he reluctantly leaves, watching as The Doctor puts one of his clients on hold as he takes a bit of a biscuit. Back at the flat, Craig uses a set of spare keys to unlock the door to The Doctor's room. Opening it, Craig stares in disbelief at the device.

"And this might be the last straw," Jack mused.

"Yeah, he definitely won't take this well," Jane said with a grimace.

"I'd imagine not, considering everything The Doctor has done up to now," Wilf noted.

A cat walks down the stairs, meowing as The Doctor opens the front door. The Doctor asks if the cat has been upstairs and it meows at him. He says yes and it purrs at him. In the kitchen, Craig is throwing darts before he hears The Doctor talking to the cat. Walking over to his doors, Craig uses the peak hole to watch as The Doctor sits on the stairs, petting the cat while talking to it.

"So that's what he meant by spy," Martha mused.

"Only the Spaceman would use a cat as a spy," Donna said, almost laughing at the thought.

"Animals do see more than we give them credit for," Jane noted.

"Not even going to ask how you know that," Mickey said, deciding he didn't want to know.

Craig opens the door and The Doctor looks up, greeting him. "I can't take this anymore. I want you to go," Craig declares. The Doctor follows Craig into the flat and Craig returns the back of money. The Doctor asks what he's done. "For starters, you talk to cats," Craig says. "Lots of people talk to cats!" The Doctor protests. "And everyone loves and you're better at football than me and my job and now Sophie's all 'Oh, monkeys, monkeys!' And then, there's that!" The Doctor is startled as Craig opens the door to his room. The Doctor tries to claim its art but Craig isn't interested, as the last three days have been the weirdest of his life.

"Really can't blame Craig. There really is a limit to what a normal person can take to The Doctor's madness," Martha pointed out.

"And Craig seems like someone who likes ordinary," Jack noted.

Jane fought a smile, looking forward to their reactions to Craig's brief tenure as a companion.

The Doctor tells him he can't leave but Craig isn't interested. Realizing Craig won't listen, The Doctor bangs his forehead against Craig's. Craig cries out, holding his forehead as his mind is flooded with The Doctor's background. Craig gasps in shock as he realizes what The Doctor is.

"Wait, he can do that?" Mickey asked in surprise as the past viewers all stared at the screen in shock.

"All Time Lords can. Although Dad prefers not to, for obvious reasons," Jane said with a grimace.

"Just when I think I have Time Lords all figured out," Jack muttered torn between awe and annoyance.

The Doctor then bangs their foreheads together again and Craig sees the TARDIS taking off and The Doctor finding a note written by Amy about his place. "Which is odd, because Amy hasn't written it yet," The Doctor says as he pulls it out. "Time travel, it can happen." Craig rambles about the scanner but The Doctor covers his mouth. "Shut up!"

"Well that explains how The Doctor knew about the flat," Jack mused.

"Time travel, it's all very confusing," Wilf said tiredly.

"Tell me about it Gramps," Donna muttered.

Outside, Sophie walks into the flat. As she walks towards Craig's, the lights flicker and a girl is seen standing at the top of the stairs. "Please, can you help me?" Sophie looks up and greets the girl who once more asks for help. Sophie asks kindly what's wrong as she begins walking up the stairs, the girl leading her into the room.

"Oh no," Wilf said as they all paled.

"Now it's going after Sophie," Donna said worriedly.

"But why now? It hasn't been interested in her before, why now?" Jack asked confused.

The Doctor and Craig both groan, The Doctor declaring he will never do that again. The Doctor uses his earpiece to contact Amy and Craig can understand them now. The Doctor asks if Amy has the plans and she says she's working on it. The Doctor says he's worked it out with psychic help from a cat, to Amy's disbelief. The man upstairs has a time engine and is luring people up there to try and launch it. Whenever he does, they burn up, which is what causes the rot and nearly throws Amy into the time vortex. "Lovely," Amy says sarcastically.

"Well at least he finally figured it out," Martha muttered.

"Now go up there and stop it Spaceman," Donna snapped.

They hear a crash from upstairs. "People are dying up there!" Craig shouts in realization. Another time loop happens and Amy cries out as the TARDIS rocks. The time loop ends and The Doctor realizes someone is upstairs and he and Craig run out of the room. Amy holds onto the console as she cries out for The Doctor. The Doctor tells her to hang on as he and Craig begin heading upstairs. Craig pauses as he sees Sophie's keys in the door. The Doctor, seeing Craig pauses, spots them as well. They realize its Sophie and rush up the stairs. Amy screams for The Doctor and he pauses. He stops Craig from entering the room as Amy asks if they're upstairs. He says they are but Amy says they can't be, as she has the plans and it's a one story building.

"Oi! What?!" Donna exclaimed as they all stared at the screen in shock.

"A Perception Filter. It altered Craig and Sophie's Perception of the flat. That's why it just started," Jack realized.

"Really do hate those things," Martha grumbled.

The Doctor uses his screwdriver to unlock the door and he and Craig rush in. They're stunned, finding the inside of a space ship.

"Blimey," Mickey muttered as the past viewers looked stared.

"Some kind of ship. But not one I've ever seen," Jack noted as he looked at the design.

"But how did it crash there?" Wilf wondered.

"I'm not sure," Jack admitted.

Jane remained silent. They'd find out eventually anyway.

The Doctor realizes the time engine is in fact the flat, someone's attempt to build a TARDIS. Craig insists there's always been an upstairs but then becomes unsure when The Doctor asks him. The Doctor explains it's a perception filter. They hear Sophie scream and see her being dragged toward a panel, one of her hands being pulled by energy. Craig tries to pull her back but it's no use. The Doctor realizes it's trying to make her activate it. He tries to use his screwdriver on the activation panel but is too late to stop Sophie's hand from touching it. Suddenly, the panel releases Sophie.

"Well that was…anti-climactic," Martha said bewildered and Jane grimaced.

"Wait for it."

As Sophie falls to the floor, The Doctor is confused why she was let go before seeing a decayed body. The Doctor moves towards it when a hologram appears. It is the old man. "You will help me," it declares. The Doctor introduces himself as Troy Hanson, a member of international rescue. The hologram reveals the ship has crashed and the crew are dead. A pilot is required. The Doctor realizes this is the ship's emergency crash program and it's been trying to find a new pilot.

"So at some point the ship crashed and the system came back online. It's been trying to find a pilot but humans aren't equipped to pilot a ship like this. So it ends up killing them," Donna summarized and got four impressed and slightly bewildered looks.

"Okay, no need to make the rest of us feel dumb," Martha muttered.

The Doctor uses his screwdriver on the hologram, seeing a brief flash of the girl before it returns to the man. Sophie is dazed and confused as The Doctor reveals human brains aren't strong enough to handle the ship before calling the hologram stupid. The hologram reveals seventeen people have been tried and they will continue to try. Sophie is confused as The Doctor explains what's going on. "The correct pilot has now been found," the hologram says. "I was afraid you were gonna say that," The Doctor mutters.

"Oh no," Jack groaned as they all tensed.

"Could The Doctor pilot it?" Wilf wondered.

"Maybe," Jack said although a pit of dread had formed in his stomach.

Amy realizes it means The Doctor as the activation panel uses the same energy used to drag Sophie to now drag The Doctor towards it. Amy asks what's going on and The Doctor explains. Amy asks if he could fly the ship but The Doctor reveals if his hand touches the panel, not only will it destroy the planet, but the whole solar system.

"Oh Bloody Brilliant!" Donna groaned.

"Why can't things be easy just this once?" Martha moaned.

"Because The Doctor doesn't live an easy life," Jack said dryly as they all tensed, waiting to see what would happen next.

As The Doctor tries to keep his hand from the panel, he realizes the ship didn't want Craig and Craig remembers the hologram said he couldn't help it. The Doctor realizes it didn't want Sophie until today, wondering what's changed before realizing it's because he gave her the idea to leave. "It's a machine that needs to leave! It wants people who want to escape, and you don't want to leave Craig. You're Mr. Sofa man!" The Doctor explains.

"It scans for a pilot by probing the desires of anyone who passes it," Jack mused.

"Can it do that?" Mickey wondered.

"You'd be surprised what alien technology can do," Jack shrugged.

As Amy cries out for The Doctor as the TARDIS rocks, The Doctor tells Craig to put his hand on the panel and think of why he wants to stay. Sophie protests as Craig asks if it will work and The Doctor says it will. Craig asks if it's a lie. "Of course it's a lie!" The Doctor shouts. Craig finds this good enough, declaring 'Geronimo' before placing his hand on the panel. The Doctor is released and Craig cries out in pain. The Doctor quickly tells Craig to think about what makes him want to stay, asking him why he doesn't want to leave, slapping him. "Sophie! I don't want to leave Sophie! I can't leave Sophie! I love Sophie!" Craig admits, to Sophie's shock.

"Un-bloody-believable," Mickey said as the past viewers stared at the screen in disbelief.

"Is the universe really about to be saved by two people admitting they like each other?" Martha asked incredulously.

"That is either really sweet or very daft," Donna summed up what they were all thinking.

Sophie walks up to Craig, declaring she loves him to before placing her own hand on the panel. The TARDIS continues to rock, Amy holding on, disgusted as she listens to Craig and Sophie talk about their feelings. "The planet's about to burn! For God's sake, kiss the girl!" The Doctor snaps. "Kiss the girl!" Amy repeats and Craig and Sophie kiss. The ship shuts down as Craig and Sophie kiss. The TARDIS stops shaking and Amy laughs.

"Well, all things considered, it could have gone worse," Jack noted.

"This was actually one of the less crazy adventures The Doctor's ever been on," Donna mused.

"Which says a lot," Martha added.

As Craig and Sophie continue to kiss, the hologram shifts rapidly and the ship starts to shake. "Big no," The Doctor says. Craig and Sophie stop their kiss as The Doctor reveals the ship is about to implode, ordering them off.

"Oh for God's sake!" Wilf exclaimed as the past viewers groaned.

"If it's not one thing, it's another," Martha grumbled.

The three of them flee the flat, running down the stairs and out the door. Once outside, they see the top floor turn into the ship before it seems to vanish, leaving them staring up at the sky. Seeing a man pass by, Craig wonders why they didn't see that. The Doctor explains it's the perception filter and there never was a top floor.

"Well, guess it's all over now," Mickey noted.

"But where did that ship come from?" Wilf wondered.

"You'll find out eventually," Jane promised and they shot her surprised looks. "Second set of recordings."

Sometime later, Craig and Sophie are in Craig's flat, which no longer has a rot. They snog before Craig asks if they've spoiled their friendship. She laughs and says totally. Craig says he would do whatever she wanted; he'd see the point of Paris if she was there. "First let's destroy our friendship completely," Sophie says and they laugh before kissing again.

"Well at least those two finally got together," Martha noted.

"And it really did take the end of the universe," Donna said in a bit of disbelief.

The Doctor walks out of his room, sees them, and heads in the other direction. He softly places his keys by Sophie's before moving to leave. As he moves to walk out the door, Craig sees him and calls out to him. Craig and Sophie get off the couch, Sophie asking if he was trying to sneak out. The Doctor notes they were 'busy'. Craig hands him a set of keys, telling him to keep them. The Doctor thanks him, saying he might visit but Craig, who has been in his head, knows he won't. He still wants The Doctor to keep them.

"Well, at least The Doctor made a friend, one who seems to understand him," Wilf said seeming happy for The Doctor.

"And one it looks like he'll see again," Donna said, remembering The Doctor mentioning he was going to see Craig the last time she saw him.

The Doctor thanks Craig and Craig thanks him. The Doctor says goodbye to Sophie before noting there are 6,000,400 026 people in the world. "That's the number to beat," The Doctor notes. Craig and Sophie then watch as The Doctor walks out. A short of Craig's fridge is shown. In addition to the picture of him and Sophie, magnetic letters are assembled into the words 'The Doctor rocks' and a photo of The Doctor at the football came is on it. Behind the trashcan is a crack just like the one in Amy's wall. It glows brightly.

"The crack, it's here," Donna said as they all watched horrified.

"The TARDIS, it's getting ready," Jack realized. "Ready to blow."

"But why?" Martha wondered.

"You'll find out in the next recording," Jane promised, although she looked saddened.

On the TARDIS, The Doctor says they need to go back in time so Amy can leave that note for him. Amy notes he's a matchmaker, asking him if he can't find her a fella.

There was an awkward silence. No one was quite sure what to say, knowing they'd see Rory again but at the moment, Amy didn't remember him.

The Doctor ignores her, noting the rectifier is acting up. The Doctor tells her to write the note while he chances the will. As he heads downstairs, Amy asks if he has a pen and he says to make sure it's a red one. Amy goes over to his jacket and looks around. She pulls out a red velvet box. Surprised, she opens it to reveal her engagement ring. She looks up with a stunned look as the crack at Craig's widens. Amy closes the box with an unreadable look on her face.

"She found the ring. That can't end well," Martha noted.

"It seems like it triggered…something," Jack pointed out.

"She doesn't remember, but it jogs something. Like when you see something that reminds you of something, but you can't remember what," Jane explained.

"Know how that feels," Donna muttered, remembering before she'd had her memories returned and all the times she'd had this weird sense of déjà vu she couldn't explain.

"We'll finish up this set tomorrow. For now, it's time for dinner then rest," Jane said as she got up.

The past viewers felt too drained to even try to argue, so they got up and followed her out, each trying to process what they had seen.

And who said filler episodes can't be entertaining? This whole episode was hilarious, such a breath of fresh air after the last few. And Craig was just a delight with The Doctor.
