Sunni stood before the board of heroes. She was dressed in grey business pants that flared at the bottom with back heels. A fitted black jacket on with a white satin tank underneath adorned her torso. Her hair was pulled in a low bun with a few stray pieces framing her face. They sat quietly reading over her paperwork.
"Ms. Forge," a woman with dark hair began, "your paperwork is all in order, but I must ask that you convince us to help fund these projects."
Sunni smiled, "With the All Might Initiative, I am looking into the future of hero work. After the war, very few agencies are still standing. There is a whole new, passionate generation of heroes who are willing to put forth the work, but due to lack of initial funding, are not capable. This proposal would put Japan on the map and open doors for many new heroes, perhaps even partner internationally like we did with the exchange program."
The woman smiled warmly, "And tell us more about the second one."
"I want this program to focus on not only heroes, but civilians. Mental health is extremely important to the success of society. With this proposal, I'm hoping to give heroes and civilians somewhere they can turn to during crisis. If you look on page seven of my research, you can see the age at which heroes typically retire is getting younger. A lot of it is due to the mental distress our jobs cause," she took a breath, "With this, we can be a beacon of devotion to those who protects us, as well as civilians who support us. The civilian crisis centers will focus on those who have been victims of villain activities. They can have access counseling, as well as financial assistance if needed."
The woman nodded and stood, "Thank you for coming today. We will evaluate your proposals and get back with you if it is approved or denied."
Sunni smiled and bowed her head, "Thank you for hearing me out and allowing me to come today. I look forward to hearing from you."
She exited the room and let out a long breath. Present Mic grinned, rounding the corner, "You did so well!"
She smiled, "God I was so nervous. You think it's got a shot?"
The blond man nodded and gave a thumbs up, "It's got my vote! I'm glad someone with our mindset is putting forth something like this."
"I'll be surprised if it doesn't go through," Aizawa's low voice chimed in as he walked up, "They need heroes. Mic and I are getting old."
Mic went into a fit as Sunni and Aizawa watched him with amused faces. A familiar voice caused Sunni to turn around. "What are you doing here," Deku blinked his green eyes.
"Oh hey!" She turned to smile at him, "I came to speak in front of the board today."
"And she killed it," Mic gassed her up. "Expect some big changes."
She rolled her eyes, "How'd it go for you two?"
He gave a thumbs up, "They accepted everything, so now we just wait."
"Nerd, I'm hungry let's go," Bakugo's annoyed voice sounded. Deku nodded and waived bye. Sunni chuckled and shook her head before turning back to the pros.
Present Mic wiggled his brows, "How's our knight in explosive armor?"
Aizawa sighed and started walking, "I'm pretending that's not even a conversation."
Sunni wrinkled her nose, "Mic, don't start with me."
Sunni let her hair down and took off her jacket as she walked in the common room. Jiro, Denki, and Sero we're working on homework. Iida was quietly reading. She said her hellos before walking to her room, shutting the door behind her, "I'm going to start charging for my dorm space."
"You can send a bill," red eyes watched her, "how did it go?"
She laid her jacket on her desk chair and took off her heels, "Well, they seemed to listen to what I had to say. Present Mic and Mr. Aizawa were happy about it."
He nodded, smirking when she too off her heels, "How did it feel being normal person height?"
She placed a hand on her hip, "Did you sit here and use your brain to come up with that yourself?" A smirk settled on her lips, "I'm proud."
He glared and stood up, closing the distance between them, "You sure talk a lot of game."
"Yeah, and I deliver," she looked at him, "Is that an issue?"
He leaned down and captured her lips in a deep, long kiss. She rested her hands on his shoulders. She was happy he could be himself with her. He seemed a lot more relaxed than he had been before, that was a relief to her. His arms wound around her and pulled her close to him, his phone ringing interrupted him. He huffed and answered it.
Sunni smiled and took this opportunity to grab some comfortable clothes from her dresser. He hung up the phone and sighed, "Looks like I'm going out tonight."
She set the clothes down and looked at him, "What you afraid to go because I won't be there to save you?"
He scoffed, "Definitely not. It'll be like a mini vacation."
She smiled and winked, "I couldn't agree more."
He reached out and grabbed her arm, pulling their lips back together. She wished they could just climb into bed. Today had been long, and his comfort would be a wonderful way to spend her evening. "Leave your door unlocked," his voice was low and soft.
"Only if you be careful tonight."
"Deal."
It was cold tonight, the soft wind brought a chill to the town as leaves of various colors flew from the trees. Bakugo sat on a roof ledge in his winter gear, watching the people below. Aizawa was at the other end. The blond was happy he was with him tonight. Patrols like this were ideal after a long day.
"So you're really going through with it," Aizawa's voice rang in their comms.
"Yep. Someone has to," his red eyes glanced at the pro before going back to his objectives, "You're getting too damn old."
A chuckled left the hero, "Damn right I am. I've missed too many years of sleep." His phone oddly rang. It was Mic. He knew he was on patrol. He frowned and answered, "What? Hang tight, we're on our way."
Bakugo stood, "What's going on?"
"Mic needs some backup. He's with Pinky tonight."
Sunni ran as fast as her legs would move. Mic had called her. She didn't have time to put her hero suit on. She grabbed her cards, mask, and staff. Mina was in trouble. The explosions she heard made her feel some comfort as she neared the disturbance. Katsuki was there.
A group of villains had banded together in a turf war. These types of activities were increasing in number recently. Pros were seeking assistance from them more often so no one patrolled alone. She rounded the corner and threw her cards at an oncoming villain. Using the smoke as a cover, she slid behind him and swung her bow staff, sending him to the ground. She pulled out some cuffs and secured them before moving on.
"What the hell are you doing here," his explosive voice boomed as he dodged an attack.
Sunni smiled, "They had to call in the big guns." She looked around, "How many?"
"We got most of them," he let out a breath, "But, I can't find Pinky."
"I'm on it," Sunni jogged past him, "cover for me."
He took off after her, "Hey I'm calling the shots this time."
She chuckled and placed a comm in her ear, "Hello~ I have arrived."
Mic's voice sounded, "Ugh thank god I'm saved."
She chuckled and dodged a bolt of red energy, "That's me."
Bakugo shot a blast, distracting the villain's attention to him, "Get a move on."
Sunni picked up her pace and noticed a deep crater in the ground. She paused for a moment before leaping down.
She landed quietly on her feet and pulled out her small flashlight, clicking it on. She was in a basement of some kind. "Hey Pinky, they called me in because you're playing a serious game of Marco Polo..."
She made her way deeper into the basement area, listening carefully for the slightest movement. A shadow caught her eye as she jumped out of the way, narrowly missing an attack. She let out a king breath and focused. If she tried hard enough she could hear their movements. Another attack came, she dodged carefully, however, blood trickled from her arm.
"Finally someone worth a moment of my time," A slender woman walked out of the darkness. She was dressed in a black kimono, her dark hair fell to her waist. Her yellow eyes studied Sunni. "Let's see what you've got."
The red head tossed up some cards, using her quirk, "Gladly. Try to keep up."
She shot them forward as the woman dodged. Sunni met her with a blow from her bow staff, sending her backwards into the darkness. Something similar to a spider web shot out at Sunni, making her leap backwards. The woman wiped her bloody mouth, "Oh I like you."
"Sadly I can't say the same..." She narrowed her eyes, "where is she?"
"Oh was that the friend?" The woman sighed, "She really tried her best."
"Bitch I'll kill you...don't play with me."
The woman smiled, "Ugh what spunk. I love it!" More webbing flew towards her, "I want to keep you for myself."
Sunni concentrated her energy into her bow-staff as she lunged forward. The woman was fast. Sunni needed to get past her so she could find Mina. This was wasting time. An idea popped into her brain. If she concentrated hard enough, she could channel her quirk like Deku did...maybe. Fuck it, it's worth a shot, she thought.
She skidded to a stop and huffed. The woman grinned devilishly, "Are you getting tired?"
The hound hero dodged her opponent, not answering. She felt the energy in her legs pick up as she moved faster, and faster. What Sunni dubbed as the spider woman was beginning to falter in blocking her harder hits. Sunni launched herself, shooting past her, landing a hard hit to her spine. The woman cried out, falling forward.
"You little bitch," she spat blood on the ground, "I'll be back for you..."
She faded into darkness. Sunni jogged forward to find her but she was nowhere to be seen. She swallowed and turned, heading to find Mina.
