Chapter Two: First Date.
"You start your first day at Starfleet Academy and I start my second year at research and development, I still say your missing out, if you disagree I will slap you in the face the next time you have leave." Bethany Allen said to the holographic image of her brother, Barry.
"You're smarter than me, I didnt want to be stuck behind some desk...no offence." The boy replied with a shrug.
"Your smart too Bear, and don't worry about it, I know you want to be out there, searching the stars for your self. 'To boldly go.' As the bumper sticker says." Bethany reminded him.
"Who still says bumper sticker, What is this, the twenty first century?" Barry joked, causing his sister to sigh.
"Barry, you need to believe In yourself more. Be more confident, trust your instincts. I believe you'll go far if you come out of your shell a bit."
"I just...don't want to let mom and dad down." Barry muttered, bowing his head.
Bethany felt herself melt at the sad tone. It had been years, and yet Barry still mourned their parent death, of course she missed them too. But her brother felt things deeper than most.
"They would be proud of us, dad would tell us to keep our chins up sluggers, we got this. And I think mom would just smile and kiss us on the head, saying we were meant for great things."
Barry wiped a tear from his eye. "Yeah..I guess your right." He relented.
"I'm always right, I'm your sister." Bethany snorted with a smirk, causing Barry to laugh.
Chirp* Went Barry's dorm room bell. Causing him to freeze.
Bethany raised an eyebrow. "Something you aren't saying brother of mine?"
"I...May or May not have asked a beautiful girl out on a date." Barry revealed, his cheeks going pink.
Bethany grinned. "You needed the confidence boost for said date, didn't you?" she realized.
Barry nodded, embarrassment clear in his eyes. "Bro, it'll be fine. Just be yourself, don't pretend, just be honest and let yourself shine. If she doesn't like what she sees, then it's her loss."
"Thank Bethany, I'll comm you tomorrow before class. Stay safe, love you."
"Love you too!"

The door opened up to reveal Barry on the other side, dressed in casual clothes. (Jeans, black sneakers, blue shirt, red sweatshirt, starfleet cadet jacket over the sweatshirt.)
"HI..."
Kara smiled, showing off her perfect teeth and seemingly glowing blue eyes. She also was in something casual. (Blue ripped jeans, leather boots, dark blue shirt and starfleet cadet jacket.) "Hello, I'm not too early am I?"
How she wasn't cold, Barry had no idea, it was getting cool around this time or year, especially in San Francisco. So he was wearing his heated sweatshirt. "No, no, I was just on a call with my sister was all, I'll be out in a minute. Just got to grab my ID."
Kara nodded and waited while Barry went back into the room and came out with a small metal card which he then put somewhere on his person. After that they locked arms and headed into the city.
Barry had booked them at an older place that had been open for over four hundred years. It was a Chinese restaurant that had been passed down from Generation to generation, starting in the 1950s. They weren't particularly well known, but Barry had been there a few times and enjoyed the Atmosphere and food. So he thought why not bring a girl there?
Lucky for him, Kara would eat almost anything. Thanks to her special abilities, she did not gain weight if she over ate. This was due to her enhanced metabolism, which allowed her to consume fast food, sweets and basically anything she wanted without issue. Oh, and she loved Pot Stickers. So that was also a plus.
Dinner went well, with both of them enjoying their meals quite a bit. (Barry had insisted on paying for it, wanting to be a gentleman and treat kara to the meal)
Afterwards they walked to an ice cream shop and got milkshakes and huge cones, there they laughed and joked, just enjoying each other's company.
Nearing the end of the date, Kara has suggested they watch a movie at one of the older film theatres. Barry was more than happy to agree, and didn't put up too much of a fight when Kara paid for the tickets and confectionery. (They both loved junk food)
The showing for that night was an old movie called "Transformers". It was Directed by a long dead man called Michael Bay.
Kara could relate to more than one thing in the movie, the Autobots part dying, being forced to find refuge somewhere else, a corrupt and unjust ruling system which started a war, even the having to hide what they were in plain sight. Kara truly sympathised with Optimus and his men.
She fell in love with the film.
Bumblebee was adorable, she hated when Jazz died and yelled profanities at Megatron when he went after Sam, much to the amusement of her date.
Barry had thought the effects were decent for a time when humanity relied on hand coordinated computer effects, instead of the simplicity of a holodeck.
Still, he liked that Kara enjoyed it. He loved the story also.
The night ended with kara giving Barry and kiss on the cheek, telling him how much she enjoyed herself and that they were DEFINITELY having a second.
Barry thus walked her back to her room before telling her goodnight, then the boy rushed back to his dorm and commed his sister mere seconds after walking in.
Kara called her own sister a solid minute after he left, they both chatted into the early hours of the morning.

"Gideon, any changes?"
"The Future Remains Unchanged, Barry Allen still ends up inventing the anti-borg tech and changeling detector by 2407. Taking over the projects left behind by his late sister, Bethany Allen. The USS Horatio successfully destroys the changeling terrorist HQ in the alpha quadrant, three months before the Borg Galactic war begins. Barry Allen becomes the flash after a freak accident in 2413, The Borg Galactic war ends in 2421 thanks to the IJL. with a casualty total of over 57 Billion." A feminine electronic voice replied.
Harrison frowns. "Unacceptable, this must be changed. I will not allow my family to die again, Barry must become the Flash sooner and that tech must be developed quicker."
"Agreed, however be wary of changes that you make Eobard. Small things can soon spiral into large problems, you cannot change important fixed points." Gideon warns.
"We'll see Gideon, We'll see." 'Harrison muttered, turning the console off before leaving the room.

"Admiral Janeway announced her retirement today after the fiasco on Rigel seven, she spent her final official day expecting the construction of the USS Voyager-A. Which is set to be launched later this year. In other news-"
"Kal, mind helping me with vegetable garden?"
"Sure thing Mama Eliza." Came the reply of a young black haired, blue eyed boy.
"I heard you watching the Holovision, you want to join starfleet like your cousin?" The blonde woman asked.
"Nah, I'm thinking of becoming an biology professor or a reporter!" Kal replied with a toothy smile.
"Let me guess, professor like papa Jeremiah and reporter because of that crash you have on miss Lane?" Eliza grinned.
Kal went beet red in the face. "NO" He quickly denied.
Lois was just a pretty girl in his class who was smart, and kind and...maybe he should stop thinking about her?
