She had in fact failed her oxygen test, which led to tears and another treatment and lung xray. Now she laid in her bed, glaring at the wall. She just wanted to be out of here and in her own space. Bakugo was so incredibly patient. Almost uncharacteristically patient. He had went down to call his mother and Tobias to update them.
"Stop pouting," he scolded as he sat on her bed. He was in normal clothes now. A black hoodie and jeans Deku had brought him.
She let out a long breath and looked at him, "I hate hospitals...I just want to go."
"I know." He studied her for a moment. She still seemed tired and stressed. He thought for a moment before settling next to her and pulling her close, "Give it a little longer. If they hold you again we'll raise hell...deal?"
She settled against him and breathed deeply, "Deal..." she looked up at him, "I'm sorry you had to save me."
"Don't," he looked at her, "it's what we do."
She nodded and laid her head on his chest, closing her eyes. Luckily their wing of the hospital was quiet, and the sun was setting. Making it the perfect time to catch up on some sleep.
Mitsuki Bakugo was known in the hospital at this point. So when she walked in, the staff was confused. Her son wasn't here, so why was she? In her hand was a bag of food. Why? Because she needed to mother something. Who was the victim? That cute red head.
She poked her head in the door and fought back a squeal. Sunni was sleeping deeply, her face buried in her sons chest. He was quietly flipping through TB channels. He glanced at her and sighed, "Please don't start."
She smirked, "I missed a chapter."
His red eyes narrowed, "I'm serious."
Her hands raised defensively, "Yeah yeah King Explosion Whatever." She held up the bag, "I brought her some food. Things easy on her stomach."
Bakugo smirked, "I'm not going to poison her with that crap."
"Katsuki be nice." Sunni sleepily sat up and glared at him. He rolled his eyes and continued flipping through the channels. She smiled at Mitsuki, "Thank you very much."
The woman blinked. She just shut her son up with three words. Something she had been trying to accomplish for over eighteen years. It made her heart warm. She smiled back at the red head, "Do you want some?"
"Yes please," she sat up eagerly, "while I do enjoy jello...it's become a bit much."
"I'm going to call your brother," Bakugo mumbled, getting up.
Sunni watched him with a small smile before Mitsuki set soup in front of her, "Oh this smells so good I could cry."
Mitsuki smiled warmly, "Eat up."
They made small talk and giggled for a bit while Sunni ate. She genuinely enjoyed the woman's company. She might come off a bit harsh like her son, but she had a good heart. The woman was currently braiding back her hair so it didn't mat mat itself. "So, Hallie," she began, "Did Katsuki talk with you about break?"
She smiled, closing her eyes at the feeling of someone playing with her hair, "He mentioned it...in his own way." She chuckled, "I told him maybe. But now that I've had your cooking, it's inclined me to accept your invitation."
The woman laughed, "Honey I will cook for you anytime. It's nice to have someone grateful to cook for."
"He loves you a lot," Sunni looked back at her for a moment, "His first thought when we got here was to call my brother, then you."
Mitsuki blushed slightly, "Well, after everything, our relationship changed."
Sunni nodded quietly, "That's what I gathered..." she faced the TV and thought for a moment, "my mother used to braid my hair like this all the time."
"I'm happy to do this for you," the woman smiled sadly, "We wanted another one after Katsuki. I wanted a girl, but, fate had other plans." She put the band on the end of her hair, "There, all done."
Sunni spun around and hugged her, "I appreciate you." Mitsuki wasted no time hugging her back tightly.
Red eyes watched them from the darkened hallway outside of the door. He enjoyed the sight of them together. He wasn't sure what that meant exactly though, something else he'd have to sort through. He sucked in a breath and opened the door.
"Is Tobias calmed down?" Sunni sat up and smiled.
He nodded, "Yeah. He's still trying to catch a flight though. Everything is delayed because of a storm."
"It's not that big of a deal," she laid back and closed her eyes for a moment, "he should just stay there."
Mitsuki opened her mouth, but her son cut her off, "It is a big deal. You could've died," he sighed, "He just cares."
She opened her eyes and looked at him, "I know. I just feel like he is always having to leave his life when something happens in mine."
"As a guardian, or parent," Mitsuki began, "That's what we do. We drop everything to get to those we care about." She smiled, "Just like you did for your friend."
Sunni narrowed her eyes with a smirk, "I see where you get it from now..."
Bakugo's face turned red, "I didn't get shit from that hag."
"I should get going," Mitsuki ignored her pouting son and gave Hallie a hug, "If you need anything, and I mean anything, tell that brat to call me."
The red head laughed and nodded, "I will. Thank you again for the food. I feel a lot better."
"I'll see you in a few weeks," Mitsuki ruffled her sons hair, "Be good to her."
His eye twitched as she walked out, making Sunni laugh. Red eyes cut to her, "You.."
She smirked, "Me?"
"Yes, you," he walked up to her bed, "Don't give her any ideas."
"On?"
"Literally anything," he huffed, "She works my nerves enough as it is."
"Too bad," she watched him, "Because I've accepted her invitation. So, you will have to put up with both of us on break."
"Wonderful," he snapped sarcastically and sat on her bed.
She could tell he was tired and cranky as she sat up. Her signature smirk graced her freckled features, "I know, isn't it Katsuki?"
He looked away from her, "Don't start that..."
She giggled and tugged his hoodie, "Come rest with me. I know you're tired. Maybe by the time you rest, they'll come tell me to get out of here."
Sleep did sound nice right about now. He reached over and put his phone on the nightstand next to the bed before curling up under the blankets with her. He wrapped his arms around her and instantly felt sleep tugging at him.
