Fon had straight up ordered more than half of the menu as soon as he noticed that Skull had no idea of the local language.

He had waited and he had watched while Skull devoured as much as he could. Fon hadn't said anything about the lack of manners and he even held any comments back to try to get the cloud to slow down.

True, he could have said a lot but in this moment the only thing that mattered was that Skull was here with him and Skull was eating.

Since the curse no one had managed to keep Skull with them for even more than ten minutes so he layed low. His mind ran a mile a minute to find a solution. To find a way to keep Skull longer with him and to find a way to keep Skull safe and out of the forest.

Skull slowly set down his cutlery, still wary but calmer than before.

Fon cleared his throat "I have another deal to propose."

"Why should I not just leave now?"

"Just listen to it, you can still refuse."

The food had made Leilani sleepy. Sure, she had eaten way too much but even when she was at the Dursleys or living in the streets back then she had never had any problems with getting sick because of it. She had later found out that it was common for wizardfolk in general. To make sure that they could store as much nutrients as possible. It was another reason why they were able to starve for so long. Magic was always doing its best to keep one of them alive. "Alright."

"You're gonna stay with me for today. I will pay for a hotel room as well. I will buy you whatever you need, a new tent, equipment, entertainment, food whatever and I will get you breakfast tomorrow as well."

"And what do you get out of it?"

"The knowledge that I can do at least a part of keeping you alive."

"I'm not dying."

Fon didn't answer.

"I can manage."

"Let me do it please. You can leave whenever. You know I can't keep you. Let me help you. I won't complain or take it back, no matter what you pick or buy or how expensive. I don't care but I want you safe."

Honestly it was tempting. The money she had gotten from Fon would keep her afloat for a while but she knew her equipment was about to break down and honestly? She wanted a bed. She wanted a real and warm shower. She wanted it so badly. She had fantasised about it on so many nights. She wanted more food. She wanted it so badly that it physically hurt.

"You said anything?"

"Yes."

"really?"

"Yes, I swear on my name."

"You won't try to stop me if I go off again? You won't stalk me?"

Fon hesitated but… he knew if he refused now then Skull would be gone. He needed to buy time. He needed to find a solution to keep Skull and so he agreed.

In the end Leilani managed to renew every last of her equipment. She didn't even question in what kind of shops Fon led her and how the storm managed to not get refusal because of their size.
But Fon kept his word. He bought her whatever she wanted and while she felt horribly shameless for using him like that she knew that she needed it to survive. Pride and the higher moral ground got her nothing when she was sitting bare in a thunderstorm.

He kept on buying her food as well. They got snacks and dinner together. They didn't talk much as she prefered to stand several steps away from him but the more the day progressed the more relaxed she got. It didn't get rid of her wariness or the fact that she didn't trust him but… it had been lonely. It had been lonely to be alone for 14 years, to not have any company and to only rely one oneself.

Before the curse she had even started to like all of them. She had despised what they did but.,.back then she still had thought that there was some kind of good in them… until the curse at least.

Fon had even bought her her own hotel room instead of demanding to share. She wouldn't have stayed otherwise, while she did let her guard down as she obviously had stayed with him for hours… she wouldn't allow anything like that. She had to steal herself but for now? For now she had a warm shower and a super soft bed that demanded her attention. it was luxury and she could feel her fingers twitch just at the thought of it.

She wanted it.

Fon was still standing in front of Skulls room, he couldn't really get himself to leave the door, especially not now.

While the cloud had been wary his hostility had melted slightly. his longing had shown through his eyes whenever they fell upon something he considered luxury that for Fon were normal. His eyes had sparked up when Fon had bought him a chocolate dessert. He saw it, he saw that the Skull they had met before the curse was still there just with very high walls.

There was nothing that would stop Fon from trying to help their cloud. He had to.

While he wasn't normally the one with the most sympathy it was different. Skull had always been innocent, naive and… well a civilian. Sure, the aftermath of the betrayal showed clearer in Skull than in any of the others but… Skull didn't deserve this. He didn't deserve to live in the wilderness, to not know where his next meal would come from or if he made it through the next winter.

There was so much going on, way too much and Fon couldn't let Skull live like that. He couldn't. Not Skull. Not the cloud that all of them cared for, no matter what he threw at them.

Reborn had gotten humiliated by the cloud on more than one occasion. The sun had even struck out or lashed out in response but it never changed that Reborn wanted the best for Skull, that he regretted the past.
Skull was special, always had been. No one had ever truly been able to put a finger on why the cloud captivated them like this but they didn't need to. It wasn't wrong. It didn't impair them besides not letting them forget about him. Skull always had been important, in their bond and in their incomplete set.

While their set was without a sky it didn't change that they all had bonds, that they felt connected to each other and Skulls spot was still there, Intractable, fractious but still existing.

Skull… Skull was theirs even if the cloud himself didn't realise that something in him still hadn't severed the bond. Maybe Skull didn't know how but it didn't matter. The bond was there and Skull was theirs.

He slowly pulled out his phone. Fon hadn't dared to before. Not under the eyes of their civilian. But now there was time, time to figure out what they were supposed to do. Skull was in a hotel room after all, not on the streets or in the forest and he hadn't seemed to plan to run, at least not straight away.

The storm's finger hovered over the display. What was he even supposed to write? How did one explain any of this?

He stared at the screen for a while before he finally started typing; 'Skull's homeless.'

A few seconds later his phone started to ring, the hitman's name stretching across the display.

Fon picked up.

Reborn didn't even wait "Update. Now."

The martial artist didn't even mind the brash tone, he could even imagine what went through Reborns head right now. The hitman always had been the most conflicted. He even though he would never admit it, felt guilty, even years after.

While the sun didn't seem emotional on the outside, all of the arcobalenos knew that he was actually one with the biggest temper, with the harshest and closest connection to his feelings. The man wasn't calm and collected, he pretended to be and kept everything tightly guarded but he was still the one who was the most emotional.

"I found him in the woods. He is living in a tent, Reborn. He was homeless ever since the curse. You… He looks horrible. He looks starved. I managed to get him to agree to go eat with me. I have been stalling him the whole day plainly with money and he agreed to go to a hotel for the night. He's still here."

Silence followed on the other site only interrupted by the sound of glass shattering before Reborns voice rang out again "Which one?"

"Atlantic Harbour. I figured a Vongola owned one would be the easiest."

"Can you stall him until 7?"

"Probably. He agreed to get breakfast with me. Do you have a plan?"

"You say he has no more money left?"

"I gave him 300."

"Then yes, I have a plan. Remember the list Viper made for mafia famiglias for Skull?"

"But we all agreed that he wouldn't join them of his own free will."

"Then I just need to make him an offer he can't refuse."
