Before we get into the chapter, let's all take a moment to remember Queen Elizabeth II, who sadly passed away on Thursday. Long Live The Queen.

TW: Glad you enjoyed it. Not yet, Jack has some of the pieces but he hasn't yet put them together.

A group of men are in a boat, rowing towards a shit at night. The ship's design seems to suggest it was built during the 17th century. On the ship, a member of the crew helps another up as a man with a lantern walks over. He asks another man what's wrong and the other crewmember says a man is wounded. Horrified, the man with the lantern tells another member of the crew to wake 'him'. The other crewmember runs off.

"So apparently this one is going to take place on a pirate ship," Jack mused.

"What makes you think it's a pirate ship?" Wilf wondered.

"The design suggests early 17th century, and ships like these weren't given to anyone back then. The accents are English, meaning this ship is either part of the English Navy or they're pirate. The lack of a British Flag means it can only be pirates," Jack explained and a silence descended on the room.

"Okay, that was just showing off," Mickey said and Jack shrugged.

"This man must be really hurt from their reactions," Martha noted.

"Not exactly," Jane said, making the past viewers confused.

In the Captain's quarters, a large amount of stolen treasure is seen as the crewmember tells the captain of the wounded man. The wounded man stands nervously as the captain turns to face him. The captain walks over, eying the man's hand, which has a slight graze on his hand. "You're a dead man, McGrath."

"From such a little cut?" Donna said in disbelief.

"Since we're seeing this, I'm sure there's more than meets the eye going on," Jack noted.

"It's Boss, so that's pretty much a given," Mickey pointed out.

The captain takes McGrath's hand, revealing a black spot on his palm and the captain notes it's the same as 'all the others'. McGrath is terrified as the captain drops his hand before they hear a woman singing. "She's here," the captain says. McGrath grabs a gun and begins heading out. The other crewmembers beg him not to listen, as the Siren is calling but he ignores them. Once outside the cabin, McGrath falls on his back as inside, the captain ties the doors shut. McGrath wildly looks around before his scream is heard and the singing stops. The captain walks out onto the deck with the rest of the crew. The captain finds McGrath's gun and picks it up, noting it's just like the others: no sign of a struggle or bones or blood.

"Blimey," Mickey muttered as the past viewers stared at the screen in disbelief.

"Well that explains why they were so freaked out," Jack muttered.

"I always thought the Siren was a myth made up by superstitious sailors," Martha said in disbelief.

"All myths have some basic in reality Martha," Jane said as a dark looked crossed her face. "Sirens are monsters, whatever else they are."

Jack shot her an odd look, hearing the undertone of hate and anger she carried in her voice as she talked about Sirens. There was a story there it seemed. But now was not the time to prod, he mused as he turned back to the screen.

One of the crew fearfully says they're all shark bait, stuck waiting. The captain says only until the wind changes before they hear a banging sound. Believing the Siren has returned the crew move towards a grille in the floor. The captain aims the gun at it before it opens, revealing The Doctor, Amy and Rory inside. "Yo ho ho!" The Doctor greets and the crew stares at him bewildered. "Does no one actually say that?"

"This isn't Pirates of the Caribbean Boss," Mickey said as his lips twitched in amusement.

"Spaceman," Donna sighed, not sure whether to laugh or face palm.

"He knows how to make an entrance, whatever else he does," Martha said in amusement.

The TARDIS is seen under deck as the captain has the trio in his quarters. The Doctor explains he picked up a distress signal from their ship but the captain says he sent no such signal. The captain is confused by the mention of sensors and The Doctor realizes he wouldn't know it due it being the 17th century. The Doctor tries to explain and the captain is skeptical about the 'big blue crate' being a ship. A crewmember thinks this is magic due to how the three of them appeared below deck and The Doctor notes he won't explain about the TARDIS due how they have a problem with engineering as Amy and Rory watch awkwardly. The Doctor introduces them, claiming they're sailors and Captain Avery pulls out a gun. "Except the gun thing. And the beardiness," The Doctor says.

"Well this is going brilliantly," Martha said dryly.

"They're 17th century pirates and The Doctor. What did we really expect?" Jack pointed out and Martha nodded, conceding his point.

"It's like lighting gasoline on fire, it's a recipe for disaster," Donna sighed.

"Let's just hope the fire doesn't burn everything in sight," Jack muttered uneasily.

Avery calls them stowaways, as they've been stranded there for 8 days. A crewmember asks what to do with them and Avery says they deserve their hospitality. The scene then changes to the deck, where The Doctor is being forced to walk the plank as the crew laugh at him.

"Some hospitality," Mickey said sarcastically.

"They're pirates. What did you expect Mickey?" Martha pointed out and Mickey paused, realizing she had a point.

The Doctor grumbles about the crew as Avery explains they only one barrel of water left and can't afford to feed three more before he orders Amy to be sent below and put to work. Amy asks Rory for help as she's led towards the galley and Rory says she's 'not a doxy'. "I didn't mean just tell him off. Thanks anyway," Amy says before she's pushed into the galley.

"So it's apparently above them to kill a woman but not to make a slave out of them?" Donna asked sarcastically.

"Pirates have a weird sense of honor," Jack mused. "In which case there rarely is any."

"They manage to be chivalrous and misogynistic at the same time. It's a weird era of history," Jane explained.

Avery tells The Doctor and Rory if they're lucky, they'll drown before the sharks get them. The Doctor says if it's just because he's a captain to, they shouldn't feel threatened because their ship is bigger and Avery, annoyed, pulls out a gun. "Time to go."

"How did you think that was going to help Spaceman?" Donna asked in exasperation, resisting the urge to face palm.

"Honestly, it's probably one of those things that sounded better in his head," Jane noted.

The Doctor pleads for more laughter and the crew laughs with Rory fearfully joining in. In the galley, Amy looks around and finds a box. Opening it, she finds various swords inside. Taking one out, she sees a pirate hat and coat nearby.

"Well apparently Amy's coming to the rescue," Jack noted.

"Amy with pirates? Well this can only go badly," Martha muttered.

The Doctor asks where the rest of the crew is at, as it's too big a ship for a crew of five. As the crew gets nervous, The Doctor mockingly says they're going to jump out and shout boo as he plugs his nose. "Boo!" The crew turns around to see Amy holding a sword and dressed in the hat and coat.

"And apparently she thinks she's Elizabeth Swann," Mickey said with a grin.

"Well she does pull off the look," Martha said with a laugh.

Amy tells the captain to drop their guns and he does. Amy orders the crew on their knees and The Doctor asks what she's doing. "Saving your life. Okay with that, are you?" Amy sasses. The captain tells Amy to put down the sword, as it could kill them all and Amy says that's why she's pointing it at him.

"Somehow don't think that's what he meant," Martha muttered, remembering McGrath. "The mark appeared on McGrath's hand after he got that cut, according to the crew."

"And if their reactions are anything to go by, this happens every time someone gets wounded, no matter how minor," Jack noted.

"Amy could call the Siren there," Wilf realized in horror.

A crewmember lungs at Amy with a sword and she blocks it with her own. As the two begin parrying back and forth, The Doctor rushes to intervene but Avery pins him to a post. Amy moves to strike the crewmember but he backs away fearfully. All the pirates seem terrified as Amy threateningly waves her sword at them. A crewmember lungs at Amy with a sword and Rory tries to stop him but is held back by another crewmember. Amy and the crewmember clash swords before she pushes him down. A second crewmember rushes her, twirling an anchor and Amy runs back. Using a rope, Amy swings down and the crew rushes out of the way. Amy cuts a crewmember with her sword and lands on the other side of the deck. The crewmember looks at his wound in horror before telling Amy she's killed him. Amy scoffs at this and he looks down at his hand before a black mark, identical to McGrath's, appears on his palm.

"Well looks like that theory was just confirmed," Martha muttered.

"How is this even possible? It was an ordinary sword," Donna said in disbelief.

"I'm not sure. But I've seen crazier things. Whatever's going on, it's not natural," Jack muttered.

"So you're saying this is magic?" Mickey asked in disbelief.

"I don't know what it is. But I've seen things that defy all scientific explanation. This might be one of them," Jack said as he eyed the screen, wondering what was going on.

Amy asks what kind of rubbish pirates they are as Avery explains it only takes on drop. "One drop of blood and she'll rise out of the ocean," he says. Amy argues it's barely a scratch, not understanding what the big deal is. Another crewmember moves towards Amy and she swings down to strike him. He grabs her by the legs and Rory breaks away from the crewmember restraining him. He rushes towards Amy as she drops her sword. As it falls, the sword scratches Rory on the arm.

"No!" Donna exclaimed in horror.

"And now Rory's been marked. Because why not?" Jack asked darkly.

"I feel like I should have expected it," Martha admitted with a sigh.

"Anyway you look at it, thing are going to get a lot worse now," Mickey said uneasily.

"The usual," Jane said with a sigh.

Rory cries out before a black spot appears on his skin. Rory asks The Doctor what's happening, showing him the mark. "She can smell the blood on your skin, she's marked you for death," Avery explains. Rory asks who 'she' is and Avery explains there's a demon in the ocean.

"A demon, a Siren, it's all the same in the end," Jane said darkly.

Jack looked at her oddly, hearing the hatred in her voice again. What had caused her to have such hatred for Sirens, he wondered. He'd ask her over dinner, he decided.

The Doctor becomes excited at the notion of a demon, walking over to examine Rory's black spot and noting how nice it is that's dropping Rory a note to remind him it's going to kill him, tapping Rory on the cheek.

"Which is a huge comfort to Rory, I'm sure," Mickey said dryly.

"Like The Doctor's going to let the Siren take him," Donna said with a scoff.

The singing from earlier is then heard. Avery tells them to block out the sound, explaining the demon uses it to charm her victims. Rory sarcastically asks if they want him to block the song with his fingers, beginning to suggest they head back to the TARDIS before trailing off as the song begins to take effect. He begins laughing as a crewmember fearfully notes its working on him. Rory begins to ramble about how beautiful Amy is and how much he likes her outfit, grabbing her and saying how everything is brilliant. As Rory continues rambling about how he's going to grow a beard, Avery explains the music turns its victims into fools.

"So the singing resonates with the black mark somehow, allowing the Siren to manipulate its victims mentally," Donna muttered almost to herself.

"How can you possibly understand all that?" Mickey asked in disbelief and Donna shrugged.

"Not sure. My head is still a bit of a mess. Some parts are still me, others are like a high tech processor I barely know how to use," Donna admitted.

"You just need to learn how to get used to your new way of thinking. Take time, don't push yourself," Jane assured her.

"Easy for you to say," Donna huffed.

"Oh my God," Amy says. They all look, seeing a bright green glow in the ocean. As they watch in shock, something rises up from the ocean. It is what appears to be a beautiful young woman with glowing green skin.

"Gonna take a shot in the dark and assume that's the Siren," Mickey said dryly and Jane smiled unpleasantly.

"No, that's just a cheap knockoff. A pale imitation of an actual Siren. The real thing is much worse," Jane said darkly.

Jane again shot her an odd look. The level of hatred Jane spoke of the Siren with rivaled that with which she spoke of the Weeping Angels. No. If anything, it was worse, Jack realized. A hollow feeling spread through him as a suspicion formed in his mind. But Jack would wait until dinner to voice his suspicion.

The Siren sings as she lands on the deck. Amy grabs Rory's arm, trying to pull him back and he swats at her. The Siren continues singing as she approaches them, holding out her hand. The crew member, in her trance, walks towards her. Rory tries to follow but Amy pulls him back. The crewmember moves to take her hand but he seems to disintegrate upon touching her.

"Blimey," Mickey said as the past viewers stared at the screen startled.

"Well I guess we know why the Siren doesn't leave any remains behind," Jack said grimly.

"Did that man just die?" Wilf asked horrified.

"I honestly don't know Wilf," Jack said, wondering if the Siren had something worse in store for its victims.

The Doctor, Amy and the crew stare in horror. Rory moves to take her hand next but Amy shoves him back, angrily telling the Siren Rory is spoken for. The Siren snarls, her skin turning red as a screech is heard. Amy is thrown back, landing painfully a few feet away.

"What was that?" Donna asked startled.

"Apparently its singing isn't the only weapon the Siren has," Jack said darkly, wondering just what this Siren actually was.

"Well they certainly left that out of the history books," Martha muttered.

The Doctor rushes to Amy, making sure she's alright before ordering everyone into the hold. The Siren's skin turns green once more and she resumes singing. As the crew begins heading into the hold, Rory is caught by her song again. As he moves towards the Siren, The Doctor grabs Rory and drags him into the hold despite Rory's protests. The Siren stops her singing and drops he hand. In the hold, Amy asks what that was and Avery tells her it's the Siren, explaining she's been hunting them and picking off the injured. A crewmember compares it to a shark and The Doctor gives a sarcastic response. The captain snaps it's a curse but The Doctor shoots back that a curse is just when humans know bad things are happening and can't be bothered to find an explanation.

"Trust me old friend, there are things I have seen that would challenge even your rigid beliefs," Jack said grimly.

"So you do believe in magic," Mickey said it as more of a question than a statement.

"I won't rule it out, but The Doctor is right, most times 'magic' is just humans not understanding what they're seeing. But like I said earlier, I've seen things that defy science, that defy explanation. Sometimes there is no rational explanation for what we're seeing," Jack said and the room was filled with silence.

"A simple no would have done it," Mickey muttered and Jack smiled.

Rory, still under the influence of the Siren, tells Amy the Siren is most beautiful thing he's ever seen and Amy says she isn't before telling The Doctor they need to leave. Seeing the TARDIS, Avery asks if it's a ship. The Doctor says it's not propelled by the wind and the captain pulls out a gun, demanding The Doctor make it sail. "And the gun's back," The Doctor says sarcastically.

"Spaceman, you really need to know when to stop talking," Donna said in exasperation.

"Especially since this company is likely to shoot you if they don't like what you have to say," Jack added.

"Dad never did know when to stop talking," Jane mused wistfully.

The Doctor says Freud would say Avery is compensating for something before asking if they've ever met Freud. A crewmember tells the captain they should leave Rory and the captain agrees, saying they don't want the Siren after them. The crewmember suddenly cries out in pain and pulls his leg out of the water, revealing a leech on his leg. The Doctor orders everyone out of the water and they all rush to dry parts of the hold. The crewmember yanks the leech off his leg, revealing a cut. He looks at his hand horrified as a black spot appears on his palm.

"Well that's karma if I ever saw it," Martha said feeling vindictive.

"So much for honor among thieves," Mickey mocked.

"As a former conman, I can tell you there is no honor among thieves. Everyone is out for themselves and what's theirs," Jack said darkly.

The Doctor wonders why the Siren wants blood as Amy mocks the crewmember about wanting to leave Rory behind. The Doctor assured him they're safe before the Siren suddenly appears behind him, singing.

"Oh bloody Hell," Mickey groaned.

"It can teleport?' Martha asked in disbelief.

"Apparently," Jack said darkly.

The Siren holds her hands out and the marked crewmember moves towards her. The Doctor and some of the crew try to stop him but the crewmember fights them off and reaches the Siren. He takes her hand and disintegrates, his hat falling to the floor.

The room was silent as it took a moment to process this. While the crewmember had wanted to sell out Rory, they weren't sure he deserved what had just happened to him, whatever that was.

The crew runs terrified, The Doctor stopping Rory from going to the Siren and forcing him back. They head out of the hold, The Doctor locking the door as Amy says The Doctor had said they were safe. The Doctor says he has his good days and bad, scanning the crew member's hat and finding bilge water, realizing the Siren is using water like a portal.

"It can do that?" Mickey asked in disbelief.

"Apparently," Martha said dryly.

"I've run across similar creatures in my time. It's not implausible," Jack mused.

"So the Siren might be an alien then?" Wilf wondered and Jack shrugged.

"At this point, I don't know," Jack said honestly.

The Doctor says they need to go somewhere without water and Amy sarcastically points out they are in the middle of the ocean. Rory begins rambling about the Siren's eyes and Amy tells him he's in enough trouble. Avery says the magazine, confusing Amy until The Doctor explains he means the armory. Avery says it's dry as a bone.

"Which would make it the only safe place on the ship," Donna noted.

"For now at least. They need to get to the TARDIS and get out of there," Martha said uneasily.

The Doctor puts the crew member's hat on and says they should go there only for the captain to point his gun in The Doctor's face, declaring he gives the orders. "Worried because I'm wearing a hat now?" The Doctor asks.

"Not the time to antagonize him Spaceman," Donna sighed in exasperation.

They begin heading towards the armory, Amy half dragging Rory as The Doctor orders everyone not to touch anything sharp. The crewmember with the keys searches for the one to the armory but its missing. Avery asks how it can be gone and The Doctor walks forward, lightly pushing the door and it opens. The Doctor notes someone else had the same idea.

"There's a stowaway," Jack realized as they all tensed.

"Brilliant. Exactly what they need right now," Martha said sarcastically.

They enter the armory and Avery orders the door to be barricaded. A crewmember takes a lantern hanging from the ceiling and Avery orders him to be careful of the gun powder. "Who's been sleeping in my gun room?" The Doctor asks and they hear a cough in the room. Looking down at a nearby barrel, Avery pockets his gun and opens it. He reaches inside and pulls out a young boy. Avery pins the boy to the wall, demanding to know what he's doing there. The Doctor asks if he's not one of the crew and Avery reveals the boy is his son.

"Well this just gets more and more interesting," Jack said as he eyed the screen intrigued.

"A pirate ship is no place for a child, especially with what's happening now," Wilf noted uneasily.

"Well there's nothing they can do about that now," Martha said although it looked like she agreed with Wilf.

Sometime later, Avery is sitting next to the boy, demanding to know why he stowed away, as his mother will be searching for him. The boy looks away and realization hits Avery. He asks when and his son reveals she died last winter from fever.

"That poor boy, he's been alone all this time," Martha said as she felt sympathy for him.

"So he came to find his father, the only family he had left," Mickey muttered as they understood the boy.

"But a pirate, who never even came to visit him in two winters?" Donna asked in disbelief.

"You assume he knows. I doubt his mother would have told him, if she even knew," Jack pointed out.

Avery sighs as his son says his mother told him all about his father, revealing he was once a captain in the navy and his mother had told him he'd be proud to know his father. The boy coughs before declaring he's come to join the crew.

"Well, looks like you were Jack," Martha muttered and Jack nodded absently.

"Avery…its Henry Avery," Jack said and they looked at him startled. "A navy Captain who turned to Piracy? It has to be Henry Avery."

"Blimey. So the ship must be The Fancy," Mickey realized.

"And I guess this is the events that led to his disappearance. Of course The Doctor was involved," Donna muttered, not even surprised at this point.

Avery says he doesn't want the boy here and the boy argues he can't send him back, as its 100 miles from shore. Avery warns him it's dangerous, as a monster is aboard. The boy becomes terrified as his father warns him she's leaves a mark on men's skin. "The black spot?" the boy asks before showing one on his palm.

"No," Donna breathed as they all stared at the screen in horror.

"A child," Wilf said weakly as he stared in horror. "She'd come for a child?"

"Apparently her victims aren't limited by age," Jack said darkly.

The Doctor walks over as Avery grabs his son's hand. They check him for injuries but find none. The Doctor tells them to ignore his last theory, Amy adding he has his good days and bad days. The Doctor explains the Siren is coming for the sick and wounded, like a hunter chooses the weakest prey. Amy points out the boy has a fever and The Doctor notes humans damage too easily and soon all will get bruised.

"This is a nightmare," Martha groaned.

"No, it's a bloody ghost story," Donna said darkly.

"It'll be next to impossible for The Doctor to keep everyone from getting hurt. He needs to get everyone to the TARDIS," Jack said uneasily.

The Doctor gets up, telling Avery he can get them all out in their ship. He tells the captain they need to get to it but Avery pulls out his gun, saying The Doctor isn't the captain here. The boy opens a barrel of water and, with a screech; the Siren's arm comes through. She begins singing as The Doctor rushes over, quickly closing the barrel.

"Bloody Hell that was close," Mickey said as they all breathed a sigh of relief.

"They're getting too close. Another close call like that might get someone killed," Jack noted grimly.

"Well then you better figure something out Spaceman," Donna mutter worried.

Avery quickly explains about the Siren as a crewmember notes they're all cursed. The Doctor says they're not cursed, as cursed means helpless and they are not helpless. The Doctor asks Avery what their next move is.

"Not what I meant Spaceman," Donna muttered, resisting the urge to face palm.

"Might be the only course of action he has. He can't keep fighting Avery, fighting amongst themselves is going to get someone killed," Martha pointed out.

"Conceding to Avery for the time being might be the only way to gain his trust," Jack mused.

"Doesn't mean I have to like it," Donna sighed, wondering if this would only make things worse.

Avery places a medallion around his son's neck, ordering the crew to wait with him. A crewmember says they're all in danger but Avery orders them to wait and barricade the door once he and The Doctor are gone. Amy asks The Doctor if he's sure and he notes they have to get Rory and the boy, Toby away. The Doctor rambles about how she's out there and Amy looks at him oddly before telling not to scratch too hard if he gets an itch. "We've all got to go sometime," The Doctor says and Amy and Rory exchange a glance. Misinterpreting their looks, The Doctor says there are 'worst ways to go than having your face snogged off by a dodgy mermaid'. The Doctor and the captain then head out.

No one said a word, a tense silence filling the room as they all remembering seeing The Doctor die. A beat passed before the recording continued.

As the door closes behind them, Avery asks if The Doctor wants to draw lots for who's in charge. "Demon, darkness. You can have first go," The Doctor says. They begin walking the deck and Avery nearly falls, almost impaling his hand on a nail but The Doctor grabs him, saving him. They sigh in relief before continuing to walk.

"Too many close calls," Jack muttered to himself.

"It's always when you're trying not to get hurt that people always seem to get injured," Mickey noted.

"Except this time even a small scratch could mean death," Martha noted.

Once they reach the TARDIS, Avery is shocked when he enters. The Doctor tell him it's bigger on the inside and apologizes for lying earlier, giving him directions to the kitchen and various bathrooms.

"He just loves showing off the TARDIS," Donna said with a laugh, the tension breaking slightly.

"Wouldn't you?" Jack asked with a grin.

"Probably," Donna admitted.

"I definitely would," Mickey said with a laugh.

Back in the armory, Amy teases Rory about the Siren being 'the most beautiful thing you've ever seen'. Rory is embarrassed as Amy laughs and the two remaining crew members begin moving barrels. Amy asks what's going on and one of them says they're not staying to mollycoddle Toby, believing the captain has gone soft and so they plan to leave. Rory and Amy exchange alarmed glances.

"Honor among thieves huh?" Mickey said in disgust.

"They're pirates, what did you expect?" Martha asked.

"About that," Mickey admitted after a moment.

"Fear makes men foolish. And self-serving," Jack pointed out.

"Pirates especially," Wilf said with a sigh. "But this is the last thing they need right now."

On the TARDIS, The Doctor is trying to work as the captain keeps asking questions about the TARDIS. Avery says a ship's a ship. "Good man," The Doctor says. In the armory, Toby argues with the crewmembers that his father told them to wait, declaring that he's their captain and a naval officer and they are honor bound to do as they're told. One of the crewmembers scoffs, asking if Toby knows what kind of ship this is and what his father does. Amy places an arm around Toby, telling him not to listen. "We sail under the black flag. The Jolly Roger," the crewmember reveals. Toby calls the man a lair, having to be held back by Amy and Rory, refusing to believe it. The crewmember taunts Toby about how his father has gunned down a thousand innocent men and Toby looks crushed.

"Poor Toby," Donna muttered, all of them feeling sympathy for him.

"It's never good when you find out the people your parents really are and they turn out to be scum," Mickey said sadly, remembering when his father had abandoned him.

"No one should have to find out their father is a murderer, especially at that age," Jack said lowly.

On the TARDIS, The Doctor tries to start it but it won't move, to his shock. The Doctor notes it's stuck and Avery gets a smug look on his face. The Doctors catches it and tell him not to gloat. Avery argues he wasn't but The Doctor accuses him of thinking the TARDIS is rubbish. Avery agrees.

"What the Bloody Hell?" Mickey said as the past viewers stared at the screen in utter bewilderment.

"Why won't the TARDIS start?" Wilf wondered confused.

"Because it knows something Dad doesn't," Jane said, smiling when they looked at her confused. "Spoilers."

Jack and Martha gave her an annoyed look but turned back to the screen, knowing they wouldn't get an answer from her and so continued to watch.

The crewmember are planning to grab what treasure they can when Toby walks out, holding a sword and demanding they remain at their post. One of them nervously tells Toby to put the sword down but Toby threatens to cut him if he moves one step. The crewmember says he doesn't know how to fight but Toby says he doesn't need to before cutting the crewmember's hand.

"Blimey," Mickey muttered as the past viewers looked at the screen startled.

"Well Toby is apparently his father's son," Jack mused before smiling. "I like him."

"You would," Martha muttered.

On the TARDIS, The Doctor explains to Avery the TARDIS can't get a lock on the plane, comparing space to the ocean and saying the TARDIS is stuck because it thinks space doesn't exist. Without a plane to lock onto, they're not going anywhere. Avery says he's confused. "It's a big club, we should get t-shirts," The Doctor says before the TARDIS rocks. The Doctor asks what's happening.

"Oi! What now?" Donna groaned as they all tensed.

The crewmember stares at the black spot on his hand as Amy taunts him about 'making it onto the menu'. Angrily, the crewmember pulls out a gun but Rory points out the powder will kill them all. The last crewmember, Milligan, takes the keys from the other. The crewmember asks what he's doing and Milligan runs out the door. "No honor among pirates," Amy notes and the crewmember puts the gun down before barricading the door.

"He wanted to abandon Avery but he's been abandoned. There's an irony in that," Jack noted.

"You reap what you sew," Donna agreed, feeling a little vindictive.

"You always do, in the end," Wilf said with a sigh. "We all have to answer for what we've done in the end."

The Doctor and Avery hold onto the console as The Doctor explains the TARDIS has gone from a sulk to a tantrum. The captain asks if he can fix it and The Doctor says he's almost out of ideas. "Almost?" Avery asks. The Doctor says they could try stroking her and singing a song. The captain asks if that'll help and The Doctor notes it never has before as they're flung against the railing. The Doctor says he's lost control and they're about to dematerialize and could end up anywhere. Avery notes that sounds bad and The Doctor confirms it is before they rush towards the doors, The Doctor shouting to abandon ship. They rush out of the TARDIS and The Doctor looks back to see it vanish.

"What just happened?" Mickey asked blankly as they all looked at the TARDIS bewildered.

"The TARDIS just vanished," Martha said blankly.

"Yes, thank you, I got that. How?" Mickey said sarcastically and Martha shot her husband an annoyed look.

"How should I know?"

"Things really cannot get worse," Jack declared grimly, wondering how The Doctor was going to get out of this one.

The Doctor calls this a 'bit of a new one' and there's no hope of getting them out of there. "Not much of a captain without a ship, are you?" Avery notes. They begin heading back to the armory. On their way, they run into Mulligan, who is wielding two pistols along with treasure and supplies. Avery is shocked, declaring this is mutiny. Mulligan, terrified, says the Siren doesn't want him; it only wants Toby and Rory. Mulligan runs off and The Doctor points out he has the last of the supplies. But Avery is more worried about his treasure and they head after him.

"And of course he's more worried about treasure than the supplies," Donna said in disgust.

"Pirates," Wilf said in a matching tone to his granddaughter.

Seeing them pursuing him, Milligan begins firing at Avery and The Doctor. They dodge the blows and Milligan flees. The Doctor tells Avery not to get injured as they continue their pursuit. Milligan heads into a dark room, locking the door behind him. Milligan lights a match as outside the door, Avery demands he come out. Milligan looks for a way out before accidently burning himself and dropping the match. The Doctor is using his screwdriver on the lock as he and Avery wait outside the door when they hear the Siren singing. The two check themselves for injuries before seeing a glow on the other side of the door. They realize the Siren is after Milligan before they hear his scream. The Doctor opens the door and they head inside. Milligan is gone.

"It got Milligan," Donna whispered as the room descended into silence.

"How?" Mickey broke it. "There's not any water in that room, is there?"

"Not that I could see," Jack said, narrowing his eyes as he tried to figure out the puzzle.

"Dad explains in a second," Jane assured them as the recording continued.

Avery picks up a crown with jewels off the floor, wondering how the Siren got in with no water. Seeing the crown, The Doctor walks over and sees his reflection before declaring he was wrong, telling Avery to ignore all his theories up to now. The Doctor takes the crown and reminding him what happened in the hold. Avery argues she came through the water but The Doctor argues only once it was still, calling still water nature's mirror. Avery understands as The Doctor explains she came in through a reflection. In the armory, Toby pulls the medallion off his neck, looking at it.

"Bloody Hell," Mickey breathed as the realization hit the past viewers.

"It's not water, its reflections. She can travel through a reflective surface," Jack swore. "She's like the Night Travelers."

"What?" Wilf asked as everyone but Jane looked at him oddly.

"Long story, but the gist is that they were held prisoner in one of those old film reels. Except unlike them, reflections act as a doorway for the Siren," Jack said grimly.

"And Toby is making one right now," Donna said worriedly as they remembered Toby polishing the metal.

"Move Doctor, get back there," Martha pleaded softly.

The Doctor remembers the curse and Avery says he said curses weren't real. The Doctor notes folktales have some truth in them, saying in the story the Siren targets ships with treasure. He asks where else would find a perfect reflection and Avery realizes in polished medal. The Doctor puts the crown in a bag and Avery shouts they have to warn the others.

"Hurry," Donna pleaded softly as they watched the screen uneasily.

In the armory, Toby is looking at the medallion, polishing it as The Doctor and Avery rush back towards the armory. As he cleans it, The Doctor and Avery bang on the door, shouting to be let in. Amy and Rory open the door for them and The Doctors rushes inside, taking the medallion from Toby. He fogs it up with his breath, giving a thumbs up Avery, who sighs in relief.

"Oh thank heavens," Wilf said as they all breathed a sigh of relief. "This is getting a bit too stressful for my heart."

"This one isn't much longer, and then we'll call it a day," Jane promised.

"Probably a good idea," Jack noted, realizing how tired he was.

The Doctor then rushes outside. Heading up the captain's quarter, he begins smashing the windows with a telescope, telling Avery they need to get rid of every reflection. He then breaks a mirror, saying he knows its bad luck but the Siren is out to get them. Avery agrees, not seeing how much worse it can get. The Doctor then asks Avery to help him get the treasure out. Avery asks where they're taking it but bulks when The Doctor says they're going to throw it into the ocean, as it's the treasure of mogul of India. "Oh good, for a moment there I thought it was yours," The Doctor says sarcastically.

"Well guess we know what happened to it now," Mickey muttered.

"The Doctor threw it into the ocean. It's probably at the bottom somewhere," Donna mused.

The Doctor says any reflection and the Siren will attack and they have to protect Rory and Toby. Reluctantly, Avery nods and The Doctor orders him to get the crown. Avery walks out and The Doctor begins to chuck the treasure out the broken windows.

"Well at least he's reasonable," Martha said, not seeing Jane's grimace.

"For how long?" Donna asked dryly, unable to shake an uneasy feeling about Avery.

Avery gets the crown, looking at it forlornly before heading out of the room. A shot of the ship is seen, the Siren's voice heard before the scene changes to the armory. Rory incredulously asks if they just wait and The Doctor admits it's not his best plan. Amy asks about the TARDIS and The Doctor says it's been towed, to her disbelief. The Doctor says they might be stuck here. Rory asks if they just wait here and Avery says if they go up on deck, the Siren will rise up and attack. The Doctor and Avery explain they'll set sail when the wind picks up, hiding until then.

"So until the wind changes, they're literally sitting ducks," Martha noted uneasily.

"Until the wind changes. But knowing The Doctor's luck, something will go wrong," Jack said, as uneasy as Martha.

"Please, just this once, lets things go right," Donna pleaded softly.

Sometime later, as Amy and Rory sleep, the captain sits down next to Toby. Avery apologizes about Toby's mother, asking if he misses her a lot. Toby notes she hadn't heard from him in three years. Toby says he promised her he'd come home, and she believed he would until the day she died. Avery looks away as Toby asks why he turned pirate. Avery tells him to get some sleep before getting up, grabbing his coat.

"He doesn't seem like a bad man," Wilf noted.

"A bit rough around the edges, but not bad," Jack agreed.

"So why'd he turn pirate, leave his wife and son behind?" Martha wondered and no one had an answer.

Amy hears a voice, telling her to stay calm. She wakes up see the eye patch woman from America staring at her from an opening in the wall before it closes again. Amy sits up, staring at it in shock and confusion.

"It's her again," Mickey said as the past viewers looked at the screen in bewilderment.

"How is she here on the ship?" Wilf wondered.

"I don't think she is," Jack said and they looked at him confused. "I think she's looking at Amy from somewhere else. There's some kind of psychic link between Amy and this woman. It's the only thing that makes sense, Amy saw her in America but nothing was there beside the child's bedroom. And now the same thing happened here."

"So who she is and how is she linked to Amy?" Donna wondered and Jack shrugged.

"I don't have all the answers, it's just a guess," Jack admitted.

Jane looked at Jack darkly. He had no idea how right he was. He might regret being right later on.

On deck, Avery joins The Doctor as he stares up at the Dog Star. The Doctor explains it's not one star, but two. Avery says he uses it to navigate the ocean and The Doctor notes space can be lonely, unless you have someone with you. Understanding what The Doctor is trying to say, Avery reveals he's planning to take Toby back to England if they get out of this, believing he is not the father Toby needs.

"So you're just going to leave him on the street, abandoning him again?" Donna asked angrily.

"He's trying to do right by Toby, the only way he thinks he can" Jack said, understanding Avery's decision. "A pirate ship is no place for a child. Perhaps he also wants better for his son than him."

"Maybe it's the wrong decision, but he's trying to do the best he can for Toby," Jane agreed.

"Maybe, but all Toby wants is to be with his father," Martha pointed out.

"Not everyone is cut out to be a father," Mickey said softly, thinking of his own father.

"Who are you, Henry Avery?" The Doctor asks. "Respected naval officer, wife and child at home. How did you end up here, wandering the oceans with a band of rogues?" Avery says he's set his course and can't change it. The Doctor looks back up at the Dog Star, noting how people stared at it for centuries and never knew it was two stars. Things can change suddenly when you least expect it he says before walking off, leaving Avery alone. Sometime later, The Doctor is in the captain's quarters when Amy walks in. She starts to tell him about the woman but he shushes her. Seeing him staring out the broken window, Amy asks what he can see and The Doctor says something is out there, staring straight at him. They hear a clap of thunder and The Doctor shouts to man the sails.

"The winds are finally changing," Martha said in relief.

"Maybe for once, The Doctor can get everyone out of this without things getting worse," Jack said trying not to be too hopeful about it.

It was The Doctor after all.

On the deck, The Doctor and Avery are working the sails as rain pours down on them. Amy and Rory rush onto the deck and Avery begins giving them instruction. They rush towards the sails but have a hard time understanding Avery's slang. The Doctor heads towards the wheel as Toby wanders on board. Avery tells him to find his coat, as it has his compass inside. Toby grabs Avery's coat and begins to bring it to him when something falls out. They all stare as the crown falls onto the deck.

"That Bloody Idiot!" Donna snapped angrily as Jack closed his eyes in dismay.

"You just had to say it, didn't you?" Mickey glared at Jack.

"His greed overpowered his reason, it seems," Martha sighed miserably.

Toby looks at Avery, who has a look of shame on his face. Toby turns back to the crown as a green arm emerges from it. The Siren flies into the air, singing and Toby looks up at her, mesmerized. She lands a few feet from Tobey, holding out her land. Avery warns Toby not to let her take him but Toby is in her trance, moving towards her. Toby reaches towards her and Avery quickly rushes over, trying to stop him. But he's too late; Toby grabs her hand and disintegrates. "NO!" Avery cries.

"Toby!" Donna exclaimed as the past viewers stared at the screen horrified, fear filling their hearts at Toby's fate.

Amy tries to hold the struggling Rory back as The Doctor rushes to the crown. He tosses it overboard and the Siren vanishes. Avery apologizes and The Doctor angrily realizes Avery couldn't give up the gold, which is why he turned pirate. "Your commission, your wife, your son! Just how much is that treasure worth to you man?!" The Doctor asks.

"He's a pirate, so quite a bit," Donna said darkly.

"Avery made a mistake, but he made it right in the end," Jane assured them.

"He better, for Toby's sake," Jack said grimly.

The mast sways slightly and Rory is struck in the back. Rory cries out as he's thrown overboard. "RORY!" Amy cries as he hits the water.

"Rory!" Donna exclaimed worriedly.

"Not again," Martha groaned.

"Rory always seems to end up in danger," Jack mused.

"But that's true for most of us when we travel with The Doctor," Mickey pointed out and Jack nodded, conceding his point.

Amy rushes to the side of the boat but can't see Rory. She begins to take her jacket off, preparing to jump in after Rory but The Doctor grabs her, stopping her. He points out if she jumps in after Rory, they'll both drown and that only thing can save Rory now. Amy demands to know what he's talking about. "The Siren. The Siren, she wants him. We have to release her," The Doctor explains.

"Has he lost his bloody mind?!" Donna exclaimed as most of the past viewers stared at the screen in shock.

"It might be the only way. Rory'll die for sure if he stays in the water. At least this way, he has a chance," Jack said although he looked as uneasy about it as the others.

"At least the Siren is the devil they know," Martha sighed.

"I just hope they can get Rory back. Because I don't think Amy will ever forgive him if they don't," Mickey said, clutching Martha's hand tightly and she returned the grip. "I wouldn't."

The Doctor heads over to a barrel of water, using his screwdriver to unseal it. He opens it and the Siren flies into the air. The Doctor points out Rory is drowning, telling her to go find him. She flies into the water and vanishes.

"Okay, so they saved Rory from drowning. Now what?" Donna asked uneasily.

"I hope The Doctor has a plan," Jack said, hoping his old friend knew what he was doing.

Amy demands to know what The Doctor has done and he points out if Rory stays in the water, he'll die. Amy argues she'll destroy him. "That thing isn't just a ravenous hunter. It's intelligent. We can reason with it. And maybe, just maybe, there still alive somewhere," The Doctor explains.

"So his plan is to follow it and hope that they can negotiate with the Siren?" Mickey asked in disbelief.

"It's as good a plan as any in this situation. I'm not sure any of us could do much better," Jack acknowledged.

The Doctor says they have to follow her and Avery asks if he's mad. "If we ever want to see them again, we have to let the Siren take us," The Doctor argues. The Doctor says they have to prick their fingers, asking if they're all agreed. The Doctor and Amy look at Avery, who says aye. They echo his statement and The Doctor pricks all their fingers. A black spot appears on all their palms and the Siren appears, singing as she holds out a hand towards them. They take it and there is a bright flash.

"Here we go," Martha muttered as they all tensed, watching to see what would happen next.

The three of them are lying on a metallic floor when they come to. Amy wonders where they are and The Doctor says where they were before. They get up and see a window, showing Avery's ship a few feet away. Avery calls it a ghost ship but The Doctor explains it's a space ship caught in a temporal rift. Amy wonders how the two ships can be in the same place but The Doctor explains the two ships occupy the same space in different worlds. "There are lots of different universes nestled inside each other. Now and again they collide. And you can step from one to the other," The Doctor explains.

"The distress signal the TARDIS picked it. It was never from Avery's ship, it was this one," Jack realized.

"So the Siren was calling for help?" Donna asked in disbelief.

"I don't know, but someone certainly was," Jack mused.

Amy says she understands and The Doctor says it's not like that all. He notes all reflections have become gateways before seeing a piece of metal on the floor. Picking it up, he throws it at the window. But, rather than shattering the window, it simply passes through and lands on the deck of Avery's ship. "Ever look in the mirror and think you're seeing a whole other world? Well this time, it's not an illusion," The Doctor says.

"Now he's just showing off," Martha muttered.

"He does love that," Donna rolled her eyes good naturedly.

Hearing an alarm blaring, the three of them begin heading up a stairwell. Amy realizes the alarm was the distress call the TARDIS picked up, there was a second ship the whole time. They hear the Siren's singing and The Doctor notes she's on board. Reaching a sealed door, The Doctor pushes a button. It opens to reveal a skeleton in a spacesuit.

"Bloody Hell!" Mickey exclaimed as all but Jack and Jane almost jumped.

"Warn a girl, would you?" Donna snapped as she glared at Jane.

"Where would the fun in that be?" Jane asked with a grin.

"I'm guessing that's the person whose distress signal they picked up," Jack mused. "That's not a good sign."

The three jump, Avery aiming his gun at it but The Doctor assures him its dead. They enter the room to find it's the cockpit. Another skeleton in a spacesuit is sitting down at the controls. Amy wonders how long the ship has been marooned here and Avery notes long enough for the captain to run out of grog. If this is the captain, Amy wonders what the Siren is. The Doctor calls her a stowaway like them as he scans the skeleton. Amy asks if she killed it but The Doctor reveals it was killed by human bacteria, a virus from Earth. The Doctor touches the skeleton's head and becomes disgusted when his hand becomes covered in 'alien boogies'. He wipes it on Amy's sleeve, to her disgust.

"Ew," Martha said as she and Donna looked at the screen in disgust.

"Nice Boss," Mickey said sarcastically looking ill.

"I've seen worse," Jack shrugged.

The three of them then head out of the cockpit through a door. They enter a room where they find the people taken by the Siren lying on beds, hooked up to monitors. As they walk further into the room, Avery realizes his entire crew is here. Amy notes they're all still breathing.

"Oh thank God," Donna said as they all breathed a sigh of relief.

"So The Doctor was right, they're all okay," Wilf said with a smile.

"Held captive, but alright," Mickey said.

"I'm not too sure about the captive part," Jack said and the past viewers looked at him in surprise. "This doesn't look like a prison."

"Jack's right. If anything, it looks like a sick bay," Martha noted, wondering just what was going on.

Amy finds Rory while Avery finds Toby. As they rush to their loved ones, The Doctor becomes overjoyed as he finds the TARDIS, rushing to it. Both Toby and Rory are hooked up to machines that seem to be monitoring their vitals.

"Should we leave you alone Spaceman?" Donna joked as some chuckles broke out across the room.

"How did the TARDIS get there though?" Martha wondered.

"If I had to guess, the TARDIS tried locating the source of the distress signal and ended up being pulled through the gateway," Jane explained.

"Guess that makes sense, as much as any of this does," Jack mused.

Avery insists they get them out of there but The Doctor tells him to wait. He scans Toby with his screwdriver and realizes Toby's fever has gone. The Doctor then rushes over to Rory, scanning him as Amy mentions how well he looks. The Doctor notes the Siren is keeping him alive and finds Rory's brain is active but its cellular activity has been suspended, realizing she's taking a tissue sample. The Doctor wonders why the Siren wants tissue samples of people she's going to kill.

"Unless she's not going to kill them," Martha muttered, less and less sure the Siren was a threat. "It looks more like she's treating them."

"But why would she do that?" Mickey wondered and Martha shrugged, not having a clue.

Amy tells The Doctor to help her get Rory out. As they begin to unhook Rory, an alarm begins blaring. "She's coming," The Doctor realizes.

"Oh bloody brilliant," Martha groaned as they tensed.

"And I'm sure she'll love the three of them standing there," Donna said sarcastically.

Rory groans as The Doctor, Amy and Avery rush behind a curtain. The Siren enters the room, singing. As Rory begins to thrash, she walks over to him, continuing to sing and Rory goes back to sleep. Seeing this, The Doctor realizes her song is an anesthetic she uses to put bodies in stasis. The Siren walks over to Toby, reaching down towards him. Avery walks out and fires at her. "No!" The Doctor cries. The Siren is hit but doesn't seem injured. She turns to Avery, her body flashing red as she snarls.

"Well there goes the element of surprise," Mickey said sarcastically as they all tensed.

"Bullets don't phase her. What is she?" Jack wondered as he narrowed his eyes.

The Doctor rushes out as the Siren heads towards Avery. Suddenly, The Doctor sneezes and she turns towards him. She begins walking towards him, appearing to conjure fire in her hands as The Doctor backs up fearfully. He tells her to sterilize, as he brought germs in. He wipes his nose with a tissue and throws it onto the floor. She sets the tissue on fire. Amy rushes over to Rory, trying to unhook him again. The Doctor tells her not to as the Siren turns towards her. The Doctor tells Amy to ignore all his previous theory and Amy says they stopped paying attention a while back. The Doctor explains the Siren isn't a killer, she's a doctor.

"…Huh?" Mickey said in disbelief as Martha slapped her forehead.

"Martha Jones, you are so thick," Martha groaned. "Of course. She went after the wounded. Rory and the crewmembers all have cuts on their arm and Toby is sick. She's trying to make them better."

"But why go through all this trouble?" Wilf wondered.

"Dad explains in a moment," Jane said as they turned back to the screen.

Amy steps away from Rory in shock and the Siren turns green again. The Doctor explains this is a sick bay, and since the crew is dead, the Siren has been looking after humanity instead. Amy points out she was about to burn his face off but The Doctor says she's an interface who seeped in between worlds and her circuitry allowed her to become a human doctor for humans. "Oh sister, you are good!" The Doctor says.

"Okay, be a little less impressed Spaceman. You still need to convince her to let Rory and the others go," Donna pointed out.

"You know Dad, he could never resist letting people know when he was impressed by something they'd done," Jane shrugged.

Amy moves to unhook Rory and the Siren once again flashes red and snarls. Avery realizes she won't let them take their loved ones and The Doctor explains the Siren doesn't know how to heal the wounded, only keep them alive. Amy snaps she's Rory's wife, demanding to know why she can't touch him. The Doctor tells Amy to show the Siren her ring, explaining she's intelligent and won't let Amy do anything without her consent. The Doctor lifts Amy's hand with her wedding ring as Amy says she just wants to look after Rory. The Siren stares at Amy for a moment and Amy demands to know why she won't let her near her husband. The Siren tilts her head before holding out her hands towards Amy, a yellow ring appearing around her hand. The Doctor explains it's a consent form and that Amy needs to take full responsibility for Rory. Amy places her hand through the ring and the Siren vanishes. The Doctor uses his screwdriver to unhook Rory and he comes to with a gasp, the life support system buzzing.

"This is the strangest Doctor visit I have ever seen," Mickey joked and Martha hit him lightly on the shoulder.

"If she can't heal them, then Rory is still drowning," Donna said worriedly as they all paused.

"They need to get him back to the TARDIS, but he'll die if they don't act immediately," Jack said, wondering how they were going to save Rory this time.

The Doctor realizes Rory can't breathe and tells Amy to turn the life support back on. She does and Rory gasps as he goes back to sleep. Amy frets over what to do, as they can't leave Rory here. Avery points out he'll die if she takes him. Amy pleads with Rory to wake up and his eyes open. Rory asks where he is and The Doctor and Amy explain the situation. Rory weighs his options before saying he's a nurse. He can teach Amy how to save him.

"That's actually really brilliant," Mickey said a little impressed.

"There's only so much Rory can teach Amy in a few minutes, plus learning the theory is a lot different than doing the real thing," Martha argued worriedly.

"Do they have any other choice?" Jack pointed out and Martha paused, realizing Jack was right.

Rory tells Amy she just has to use CPR, pointing out she's seen it in loads of times in films. Amy argues this isn't a film, worried she'll do it wrong. Rory is certain she won't, saying he trusts her. Amy asks if The Doctor can't be the one to do it, why she has to save him. "Because I know you'll never give up," Rory says certainly. Moved, Amy nods.

Jane smiled slightly. If there was one thing that remained consistent about Amy and Rory's relationship, it's that they never gave up when it came to protecting each other.

The Doctor walks up to Avery, telling him they have to send the ship back into space, not wanting the Siren to get ashore. Avery asks about Toby and The Doctor explains he has typhoid fever; it would only be a matter of time if he returned. "What if I stay with him, here?" Avery asks.

"Looks like he's finally ready to put his son first," Jack noted.

"About bloody time," Donna grumbled.

"Avery's a flawed man, but he loves his son more than he loves that treasure," Jane promised.

"Guess so. And now we know what really happened to him," Mickey pointed out.

Avery points out how the Siren will look after Toby. "I can't go back to England. And what home does he have now, if not with me?" The Doctor asks if Avery can sail the ship and Avery says to point him to the atom accelerator. The two laugh and The Doctor claps him on the shoulder before walking back to Amy and Rory. Rory tells Amy she can do this before joking about being cross and dead if she mucks it up. Amy nervously tells him she'll see him in a minute and Rory nods. She looks at The Doctor, who nods. They unhook Rory and he gasps for breath as they help him to his feet.

"Hurry you two," Wilf muttered worriedly as they all watched the screen uneasily.

The Doctor and Amy quickly move towards the TARDIS. Once inside, Amy immediately begins giving Rory CPR. The Doctor begins biting his nails nervously as he watches Amy. Amy desperately beats on Rory's chest, remembering Rory trusted her to save her. The Doctor encourages her to keep going, saying she still can. Amy tries it twice more but it doesn't seem to have any effect. Amy continues beating on Rory's chest, pleading for him to wake up. She puts her lips over his before she begins to sob as The Doctor looks on sadly.

"No," Donna softly as the past viewers all watched, looking crushed.

"Just keep watching," Jane told them, trying not to smile.

Amy sobs as she looks down at Rory and The Doctor sadly puts a hand on her shoulder. Suddenly, Rory begins coughing and they look at him relief.

"Oh thank God," Martha said, putting ah and to her chest as they all breathed a sigh of relief.

"It was a bit touch and go, but Rory was fine," Jane assured them.

"I'm getting too old for this," Wilf noted tiredly.

"You're telling me," Jack said dryly.

The Doctor gets up and walks over to the console, giving them a moment. Amy tearfully embraces Rory as he tells her she did it. The Doctor smiles at them, relieved. On the alien ship, Avery and Toby are at the controls. Avery looks over at Toby, who is still hooked up to the life support system. They smile at each other before turning to the viewing window as the rest of the crew walks in behind them. They look as the ship arrives at the Dog Star.

"Now he really is a captain. The adventures they must have gone on," Mickey said wistfully.

"Sounds like the beginning of a good book," Donna mused.

On the TARDIS, Rory and Amy are walking up the stairs, Amy saying she was an excellent pirate. Rory flirts with her, saying she was an excellent nurse. She laughs, telling him easy before wishing The Doctor goodnight. "Goodnight Amelia," The Doctor says. Amy and Rory frown, Amy noting he only calls her Amelia when he's worried about her. The Doctor says he always worries about her and Amy remembers seeing him die before saying mutual.

The good mood evaporates as they all remembering seeing The Doctor's death once.

"How did you do it Doctor? And why? "Jack muttered to himself, wondering what could have happened.

He tells her to go to bed and Amy and Rory begin heading up the stairs again. Rory reminds Amy she can't tell The Doctor what happens, as it's his future. They stop to look back at The Doctor and Amy says she knows. Amy and Rory head up to their room. It's revealed The Doctor is doing another scan on Amy to determine if she's pregnant. Once more, the scan reads both positive and negative. "Oh Amelia," The Doctor says as he stares at the scanner.

"And there's that strange reading again," Martha mentioned.

"Something's happening with Amy, isn't it?" Donna realized. "That reading, the woman psychically linked to her…"

"Yeah, something happening with her," Jane confirmed. "But you'll find out tomorrow. In the meantime, who's up for dinner?"

Without waiting for a response, Jane got to her feet and promptly walked out of the room, the past viewers all exchanging exasperated looks at her avoidance tactics.

She was The Doctor's daughter all right.

Didn't enjoy this episode as much as I enjoyed the previous two, but it was still a fun filler episode.
