Verde stared at the list for a moment before he looked at Skull again "The rules didn't change. We are still playing three truths and one lie, not the other way around."
"I know." Leilani said, leaning back and glad her massive grin got hidden by her visor.
"Are you kidding me?" the lightning shook his head in disbelief.
"Nope, three truths. I swear."
Lal furrowed her brows "What's going on?"
The lightning stared frustrated at the piece of paper in his hand "Skull's cheating."
"I'm not!"
"You can't be serious. This is impossible."
"Only one lie is in there."
"I see at least two, three is more likely."
Reborn turned around "What's the problem?"
"It doesn't make sense."
Lal just groaned before snatching the paper from him only to falter as soon as she read it "...Skull is cheating."
Leilani jumped up "I'm not! You wanted a challenge there you have it."
"But…" Lals voice faded out, still staring at the piece of paper in her hand "But it can't be."
"Yeah it can. I know the rules and I followed them. Can we play now?"
Lal stared at the cloud for way too long before clearing her throat "Skull got a driving licence."
She stared at the rest for a moment longer "Skull killed for the first time at 15 months old."
Fon chuckeld "Well we've got the lie then."
Lal just deadpanned him while she read the next line "Skull is a woman."
Fon raised his eyebrow "I take that back then."
Lal took a deep breath "Skull… Skull is a sky."
Immediately all eyes were focused on the cloud, everyone sat up.
Leilani grinned widely "Have fun figuring this out."
The group stayed silent for a moment, thoughts racing and it was Verde who broke the silence "Purely statistical speaking… there are more than enough cases of Toddlers accidentally shooting a gun or causing a car crash… it could have an explanation."
La threw him a look "If that would be what I was hung up on it wouldn't be an issue. We have two things that are completely unreasonable and can't be true."
The hitman stayed silent for a while until looking up "Skull could be trans."
"You mean all of this is just Skull trying to come out?"
"Possibly?"
Colonnello shook his head "I never heard anything about that."
"So what? You think it's more likely that Skull is a sky?"
Colonnellos mouth opened, only to close again a second after.
Leilani stayed silent, trying to contain her giggle at the madness going around, not saying anything either until Reborn addressed her to give their decision "You're not a sky."
"You all want to vote for the same thing?"
"Yes."
"You sure? Final answer?"
"Yes."
Leilani nodded, finally pulling down her helmet again and grinning wide "So? How does it feel to know you can never call me lackey again?"
The hitman furrowed his brows "Stop joking."
"I'm not though? You just lost our bet."
"You can't be a sky."
"I can't?" Lelani grinned even wider, slowly pulling her glove off "You sure?"
"There is no chance."
"You're a bit too certain for that.. but well pride comes before the fall, right?" and with that she for the first time in proximity of the arcobalenos let out her primary flame.
Instantly the flame, having been contained for the most part of her life, eagerly flickered to life, dancing brightly over her palm, almost rivalling a bonfire in its brightness.
Another thing happened for the first time, maybe even the first time in existence as Reborns jaw dropped. Not that anyone else was different. Fon froze completely, Lal made a choking noise that vaguely reminded Leilani of a suffocated mandrake screaming, out of Verdes mouth came only ununderstandable gibberish, Viper was plainly shaking their head as if they wanted to refuse reality and Colonnellos brain seemed to have stopped working as his eyes zeroed in on the flame in Leilani's hand.
Leilani let the flame dance for a few moments longer "Oh and you were wrong about the trans bit as well. Not a good track record I dare say."
"No." was everything Reborn managed to press out.
"Yes." was Leilani's answer "I actually don't have a driving licence. I learned to ride my bike in the circus and that was that. So triple wrong? Oh no, wrong on all occasions as Verdes thesis was obviously wrong too."
Lal was turning red at this point "But… no."
"I see an army of parrots."
"You're… you're not.. you… you can't be."
"But I am. I am a sky and I am a woman. Never heard of the power of makeup before?"
"I don't accept this. No. You're lying. No."
"But I'm not lying? Don't tell me I have to prove this too."
The still way too shocked faces did make Leilani quite giddy and so she just shrugged "Does anyone have makeup remover on them then?"
Reborn, still staring at her in bewilderment, slowly reached into his pocket and pulled a package of makeup wipes out.
Skull laughed "Why am I not even surprised? But yeah wait a second."
She calmly started to wipe her make up away. As soon as the dark eyeshadow was gone her eyes immediately looked bigger, brighter and her naturally long eyelashes were able to be seen over the contrast. Her natural skin tone slowly started to appear, same as her freckles and the more the pasty make up disappeared the more her face started to look softer, her snub nose appeared the same as her more delicate features. The purple harshly drawn lipstick revealed once gone, soft looking, rose pink lips.
In front of all their faces the once slightly grotesque looking cloud turned into a dainty feminine, almost doll-like looking girl. The only thing disrupting the almost angelic face was the prominent scar on her forehead.
Leilanis lips twitched even more at the faces of her more than just stunned fellow arcobalenos and with a slight recoil of her flames she for the first time in over 33 years spoke in her own voice "Satisfied yet?"
She didn't bother to try to get her flames off from her hair or actual body, as the curse did make them permanently stuck to her.
Honestly the state she had catapulted all of them in was amazing. Maybe she held grudges a bit too tight and maybe she had a bit of a mean streak but… she had almost been sorted into Slytherin so… yeah, she would just push that onto that.
Verde stammeld out "But… you radiate cloud flames. You still do."
Leilani shrugged "What? You think I could manage pulling off being a guy without adjusting my size, chest and hair? All cloud flames. You literally just felt the flames I gave out as they were always active."
"But… that's.. that's not possible."
"I did it though. So you're wrong. How often does that make it today Verde? You're really not on a roll."
"But… why would you have kept your sky hidden?"
"Aside from the fact that it was pretty useless? Well you told me to. Okay not you.. Reborn did. Remember when he taught me about flames? I even asked what would happen to a civilian sky. He told me. I just followed his advice."
Reborn meanwhile seemed to be about to derail into a mental breakdown.
Leilani actually jumped onto the table, making her way over to him.
The hitman was whispering over and over "I hit a woman. I hit a sky, that is a woman."
Honestly this wouldn't do. Sure, she wanted to mess with them but she hadn't expected this and… it was kinda her responsibility to correct it.
One could say many things about Leilani, seriously a lot but… in all honesty her mind often came to rather particular conclusions, especially as she never had a knack for comforting people. So her mind snapped to the next best thing as she sat down crossed legged in front of him. Being annoying was her go to and in a way it had fixed most situations for her and so she poked the hitman against the shoulder. She was trying at least
"Don't mind it, Reborn. You did it because I was annoying. I kinda provoked it and well I mean you actually had a reason. Like my cousin for example did it just because of my existence and you really should have seen me in school with Malfoy. Like genuine hate. I mean it.
Sure you could have been nicer, especially at the beginning but well it could have been worse."
She tilted her head as the hitman slowly looked at her.
"I mean sure… you're still kinda egoistic… and a narcissist, have a god complex… Did I already say how much you are in love with yourself? Yeah? Well… I mean I won't take back when I called you evil on the first meeting either… and you're kinda an emotionless fleshsack"
She almost had to snicker when Reborns expression slowly turned back into his usual I-kinda-want-to-murder-you expression.
She patted him on the shoulder "But you got good qualities…" she paused for a moment "...Probably."
The hitman slowly pushed himself back into a straight position "I don't hit women."
"Noble." she nodded and really did her best and for once controlled her impulse to answer; 'You already did though.'
Before it could escalate again Fon managed to regain his composure long enough to ask "Wait… so are you gonna be our sky now?"
Leilani could only blink, slowly turning her head around to look at the storm "What even gave you that idea?"
"But… you're a sky."
"Yeah?"
"And you're one of us."
"Debatable but go on."
"And you don't have any elements."
"That's true."
"So therefore… we would be your best bet."
"Why would I want that?"
"But skies want elements?"
"I don't."
"But…"
"And I mean honestly? You guys as my elements? You want me to start explaining why this sounds like a very stupid idea? I mean I would love to. I know so many adjectives."
Leilani couldn't help the snort from escaping. "But I think that was enough for today. I don't think any of you could take another dose of my unbelievable awesomeness before you turn into drooling obsessed fans. So… remember what you agreed to."
She grinned in the round, already jumping off the table, bowing in front of the still more than just flabbergasted arcobalenos.
"Ah wait… I should add a bit of flare right?"
Leilani pulled out her phone and with a few clicks music rang out as she started to savagely dance while leaving the room.
Leilani turned once around at the door, winking before bowing flourishly.
Even on her way out of the house they could still head her loudly singing.
(I Did Something Bad - Taylor Swift)
Skull was long gone when Viper finally managed to form a correct sentence "We're gonna get her, right?"
The miser had all of the attention instantly on them.
Verde pushed his glasses up "Did that ever stand up to debate?"
The storm cleared his throat, his signature smile finally coming back fully "And an Arcobaleno never backs down from a challenge."
