Secrets-Chapter 2

A week before the Gala, Logan got a call from Shira. "Hello Mother." Logan said, answering his office phone.

"Logan, when are you coming to visit? It seems like I haven't seen you in forever." Shira said. Logan rolled his eyes. She must want something.

"I am sorry Mother, but you of all people should know the demands of my job." Logan told her.

"But, I have not seen you since Christmas." Shira said with a huff. For a minute Logan thought she might actually care, but that thought was short lived.

"The Breast Cancer Gala is next week. I just wanted to tell you I made you an appointment for a new tux." Shira said. She continued to talk. At this point Logan zoned out. How could she make me an appointment? Doesn't she know I can handle this myself, besides, I have a new tux. He was brought back to the conversation on the phone when Shira said. "7:30, then we can have drinks before heading to the Gala."

"Mother" Logan said to get her attention. "You were breaking up. What did you say about 7:30?"

"Logan, you need to pay attention." Shira said with a huff. "I said we are staying at the apartment in the city. We will have cocktails from 7:30-8:00. Then you can ride over with us." Before Logan could comment, she continued on about how the Gala was going to be at the Morgan, how big the ball room is. Logan lost her again at this point.

"Mother," Logan had to call her twice before she stopped talking and answered him. "I have to run. I will talk with you later about this." He hung up the phone before she could say anything else.

He sat back in his chair. This could be a problem. The gang planned on going as a group again. This way Logan and Rory would be together, but not for everyone's eyes. He let out a sigh before picking up his cell phone and texted the gang. 'Problem with gala. Need to find time this week to get together to discuss.' Everyone responded with 'K, let me know, sure' He noticed he didn't get a response from Rory.

Meanwhile, Rory is at her desk, reading over her article, getting ready to submit. She was hoping to take Friday off this week to go shopping with Paris, Steph and Lane. Steph made them an appointment with Vera Wang.

Lane was arriving tonight and would be going with Steph and Paris to their dress appointment. She will be spending the weekend with Rory and Logan. Lane would not be going to the Gala next weekend, but she is helping Rory pick out a dress. Really she just needed a break. Zach was on tour with the 'Rock solid Pandas' and her parents wanted to take the twins to visit some relatives in North Connecticut. This was the perfect time to visit Rory and Logan in the big apple.

Rory was almost finished when her office phone rang. "Rory Gilmore." she said, answering her phone.

"Rory, this is Grandma." Emily said. "I have Francine with me. We tried calling your cell, but it went to voicemail."

Rory picked up her cell and looked at it. "I'm sorry Grandma, I was in a meeting earlier and silenced it. I forgot to turn it back on." Rory was rolling her eyes. She had seen the missed calls from Emily, but she was busy and didn't want to deal with her. This is what she gets for ignoring her.

"We were just calling to let you know we are staying at the Morgan next weekend. Your grandfather made reservations today for a suite. Now Rory, I know you have your apartment, but we were wondering if you would like to stay with us. There will be plenty of room. That way we can all get ready together." Emily asked.

Before Rory could answer, Francine spoke up. "Do you need us to arrange for a dress fitting?" She asked. "Emily what is that girls name, the one that has dressed you for years"

"Celine," Emily said, nodding her head..

"Yes, Celine," Francine said. "Emily I am sure you can get her to show Rory some acceptable dresses for the Gala."

"Yes," Emily said. "I will call her when we hang up. Rory, what's a good day. I know you have to work. I don't know if I can get her for this Saturday. It being short notice, but maybe she can come to your apartment one night next week,"

Rory was rolling her eyes and trying not to sigh. "Grandma, Grammy. Steph made an appointment with Vera Wang for Friday. I am taking the day off. We are going to find gowns for the Gala." Rory told her. "And I appreciate the offer to get dressed together, but Steph and some of my friends are going to come to my apartment and get dressed." Rory was thinking on her feet. The last thing she wanted was for Emily and Francine to show up at her apartment. There is no way to hide that Logan lives there.

"Oh, well," Emily said, but perked back up, "Send us a picture and we will be sure to have the jewelry to match. I am sure between the two of us we will have something that matches."

Rory sighed. "Yes, ma'am, I will. Grandmas, I have to go. My boss is at my door wondering where my article is." She hung up before either one could say anything. She sat back in her chair and closed her eyes. She had a headache.

After a few minutes, she sat up and read her text message. She smiled. Then typed Logan message 'just got off the phone with my crazy grandmas.' She reread the text again. Decided to add 'I love you' then hit send. She put her phone down and heard it chirp a response and she started editing her article again.
