"The Penshaw Monument..." Jessica said in horror, "He made it all blue"
"And that will expand into the rest of the world if we don't stop him." the Doctor replied, "Good sir, do you have a vehicle?"
"Yes." the man said.
"We're going to need it."
"You don't have my permission to."
The Doctor pulled out her psychic paper infront of the man's face. "Special Agent Sybil Mayer, CIA. This situation is going to get worse if we don't get to that monument this very instant. Now, are you going to get us to your vehicle or not?"
"Aye."
"Then let's get to your car before the world is suffocated!"
The man rushed down the hill, with the trio following suit. Khaldun caught up to the Doctor quick. "Why can't we use your TARDIS, Doctor?" he asked.
"To remain inconspicuous." the Doctor replied, "I'm trying not to have the average person ask too many questions. Now, car!"
The group got to the car, with the Doctor putting herself in the driver's seat. "What's your name?" the Doctor asked the man.
"Bert." he replied.
"Bert, how fast can this go?"
"Around 100 miles an hour."
"Then buckle up."
"Wait," Jessica asked, "you're going to try to go a hundred miles per hou-"
"It's that or the world dies! Now, belts on!"
The group got their belts on and the Doctor stepped on the gas. Driving as fast as she could, she managed to go from Goldsmith Road to the A183 in practically no time. As she was partway through the road, Khaldun looked of the window. "Umm, Doctor?" he asked, "Remember when you dealt with two separate demons made out of sugar?"
"What of it?" the Doctor replied.
"I think they've merged together."
The Doctor checked out the wing mirror on her side and saw what looked like a beast made out of the previous two forms of the Kandyman they she encountered, partially shiny from the covering of carbonated drinks, all the while studded out with midget gems. It seemed as if both of her attempts at stopping him only resulted in the creation of this being. "You cannot run away this time, Doctor!" he yelled through his voicebox.
"Oh, I'm not running away, Kandyman!" the Doctor yelled back, "I'm going towards you!" She turned to Jessica and Khaldun. "Try to slow the beast down before he ounces onto this car and kills us all!" She then turned her head towards Bert. "Bert, keep an eye out. There could be more of him about."
As Bert kept an eye out, Khaldun and Jessica scrambled to find something in the car that could be used to slow down the beast, until Jessica found a packet of chocolate buttons. "Remember when the Kandyman killed Sameen and all the sweets were gone when we investigated who killed her?" Jessica asked.
"I do!" the Doctor replied, "What of it?"
"That robot who's chasing us must be obsessed with sugar! I have a bag of chocolate buttons here!"
"Open it up and throw it out!"
Jessica did exactly that, and the Kandyman beast diverted its attention to the scattered mass of buttons. They were safe until they got to the roundabout connecting the A183 to the A19, when Bert yelled "To our left!" and another Kandyman shot a massive glob of isomalt at the road, causing the road to be smoother and thus more slippery. "Hold on!" the Doctor yelled, "We might end up crashing!" The Doctor stepped on the brake as a way of alleviating the speed, but the lack of friction on the road caused the car to fly off of the bridge and onto the road below, missing the cars and ending up crashing through the railing and into the bundle of trees, thankfully minimising the damage done to the group at the cost of the car being unable to be used due to it being stuck.
"Oh no, no, no, no!" the Doctor yelled while slamming her hands down, "We can't afford an inconvenience like this!"
"Doctor, calm down!" Khaldun yelled back.
"Calm down? If we don't get to the Penshaw Monument as soon as we can, everyone dies! How many times do I have to repeat myself?"
"None. We're halfway there. We can run the rest of the way to the Monument."
"Then why not start now?"
The group quickly unbuckled their belts and scurried out of the car as fast as they could, running up the hill back onto the A183. The Doctor looked to Bert and said "Sorry about your car."
"Not your fault, Agent." he replied.
"Either way, you should probably go home. Have a good life."
Bert began to walk home while the remaining trio began their trip to the monument, running until they found the nearest bus stop. "Yes!" Jessica proclaimed, "We can get on the bus and get their faster than running or walking."
"Excellent idea, Jessica." The Doctor replied.
"Surely there are people that are willing to pick us up on these newfangled "cars," right?" Khaldun asked.
"Nobody would believe us, Khaldun." The Doctor noticed Jessica stopping. "What now?"
"I'm not moving until I know who you and that man beside you are."
"You heard me say my name."
"The explain why that man doesn't know what a car is."
The Doctor would mutter "Damn it, Khaldun." before looking back at Jessica. "He's from the past. Way in the past."
"What are you doing, Doc-"
The Doctor looked at Khaldun with a glare. "Making sure she doesn't ask too many questions!" The Doctor looked back at Jessica again. "I'm called "The Doctor." I'm an alien from another world that pilots a spaceship that looks like an old police box. Kandyman is also an alien. The man behind me is Ibn Khaldun and yes, that Ibn Khaldun. We just got off of another planet where I took down a fleshy tree that was destroying the planet's atmosphere by consuming its oxygen. We can talk about this more right here or we can get to that bus and save the world. Your choice."
"We'll get the bus."
"Excellent. Let's go."
They got the the bus stop just as said bus stopped there. "Three tickets to the stop nearest Penshaw Monument as fast as possible." the Doctor said to the driver.
"ID for your age?" The driver said. The Doctor took out her psychic paper to the driver, with the driver's imagination convincing him. Jessica showed her own ID to verify her age. Khaldun, visibly old, was just accepted by the driver. "That will be £21, please."
The Doctor gave him the money and got the tickets. She, Khaldun, and Jessica got to their seats before the bus took off. It was then that the amalgamated Kandyman began to catch up, seemingly with a cannon made from another Kandyman. It jumped onto the roof of the bus and tore open a hole there, frightening most of the passengers on the bus. "Oh no you don't." the Doctor said before running to the front of bus to say to the bus driver "Sorry for what I'm about to do." and use her sonic screwdriver to make the bus go faster than usual, causing the Kandyman to struggle with staying on. She took a cane that was lying around and whacked the Kandyman's fingers, causing him to fall off the roof and onto the road behind it.
"Have it back." she said before tossing the cane back to its original owner: an old woman who looked as bemused as the rest of the people on the bus, including Khaldun and Jessica. "If I didn't do that, we'd all be dead." she said to the rest of the bus just as it stopped right in front of the monument. She turned to Khaldun and Jessica. "Come on, guys." she said before all three left the bus, thanking the bus driver for the trip.
There it was: the Penshaw monument was near, and the trio could see the glistening blue isomalt shell covering it. "What now, Doctor?" Khaldun asked.
"We run to it." the Doctor replied.
"The steps that lead to the Monument are deep." Jessica said, "We'll be exhausted by the time we get there."
"Good thing there are grassy inclines on both sides. Not that deep, really. Any objections?"
Both Jessica and Khaldun shook their heads.
"Then let's go!"
