I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and New Year. This is the 2nd time in 10 years that I have been off on Christmas. The first time was when I was on medical leave. Anyway, Here is the next chapter. I am going to try to post often. I have several stories I need to finish, but don't want to rush them. I have an outline, but my muse is still recuperating for Christmas.
Review. Maybe you can get her attention.
Secrets Chapter 6
The gang was able to continue to keep their secrets. Yes I said secrets. Because Logan and Rory were able to keep living together without informing the parentals, Colin and Steph decided to try it. Finn and Rosemary have not moved in together, but they are dating exclusively.
Rory's birthday came and went. She spent the weekend in Stars Hollow with Lorelia. The next weekend, Logan swept her off to the Caribanian to celebrate with their friends. While they were club hopping, unbeknownst to the gang, photos were taken.
When they returned, life went on as they knew it. Colin and Steph were getting into a good routine, Logan and Rory fell back into theirs.
It was getting close to Thanksgiving and Rory was making plans with Lorelia and Emily. These are the times she wished they knew about Logan. She could tell them he was taking her somewhere for Thanksgiving and she wouldn't have to be put in the middle of Emily and Lorelia's drama.
Meanwhile, across town: Logan was in a meeting in a conference room with his team when Mitchum stormed in. "Gentlemen," Mitchum said as he entered the room. "I need to borrow Logan for a minute. It won't take long."
Logan looked at his watch. "It's 11:39, Let's take a lunch break and meet back, say about 1:00-1:15?" Logan said. Most nodded their heads and stood to leave, several different conversations going at once. 'Where to eat lunch' 'cafeteria or deli?' 'plans for the weekend.'
As soon as the room was clear, Logan stood up. "If you will give me a minute, I will meet you in my office." Logan said as he turned toward the door. "I'll have John order from the deli. Anything particular you would like for lunch?"
"Logan," Mitchum said, stopping Logan at the door. Logan turned to address his dad. Mitchum was going to tell him to have a seat, this couldn't wait, but the look on Logan's face told him differently.
"Dad?" Logan said. "I really need to be excused, the bathroom is calling." Mitchum nodded. Logan continued out the door. Mitchum followed, but not right away. He took the time to look around the conference room. Logan and his team had converted this conference room into their lab. He examined the writing on the white board. It did not make a lot of sense to him. He picked up the folders Logan left laying on the table. He didn't recognize any of the names. Has he really fallen out of touch with his own company? He knew Logan was doing a great job. If he had not, he would have never moved him back to New York. Then he remembered why he called this meeting with Logan.
Logan looked at his phone as he was walking to his office. He had a text from Rory.
R to L: 'Hope you are having a great morning. I, however, have been on the phone with Emily and Lorelia. Thanksgiving.
L to R: 'Dad interrupted my meeting. He wants to talk. I know it's not to confirm Thanksgiving plans.'
R to L: 'Ah, babe, I'm sorry. I love you. I hope that helps'
Logan was exiting his private bathroom when he got the last text. He was smiling while reading it. It was not aware Mitchum had already entered his office and was standing at the window, looking over the view.
"Smiling coming out of the bathroom alone. Don't know whether to be worried or just assume you got a text from that someone special." Mitchum said, startling Logan.
Logan quickly 'Liked' Rory's text, then put his phone in his pocket and cleared his throat. "Dad, I ordered you a ham and cheese on rye, I hope that's okay."
Mithcum nodded and took a seat in front of Logan's desk. "Logan, got anything you want to tell me?" Logan raised an eyebrow. What does he know and what have I done that could be any of his business other than business.
"I don't think so. I put everything into my weekly report Friday. Nothing has happened since then that couldn't wait until Friday's report." Logan said.
"Ah, business," Mitchum said.
Logan again raised an eyebrow. "Yes, business. That is the only thing you should be concerned with." Logan stated. He stood up. He had a feeling deep in his stomach, things were fixing to go to hell in a handbasket.
"So, a father can not be concerned about his son outside of the office?" Mithcum asked.
Logan turned from the window he was looking out of, faced MItchum and said. "The only concern you should have about me outside of the business is if I am doing anything to tarnish the family name."
Mitchum smiled and shook his head. "Really Logan. I am not concerned with your love life, if that is what you are implying, but I am not the enemy. If you had a secret you would not like getting out, I could help with that."
Logan laughed, more like a scoff, than a laugh, "What do you know Dad?" Logan sighed.
MIthcum laid the folder he pulled out of his briefcase on Logan's desk. Logan walked over to his desk and picked it up. He opened the folding, looking inside, then sat down in his chair.
"Who else has these?" He asked.
"I hope no one. I just paid a pretty penny for them." Mitchum told him.
Logan put the folder on his desk and ran his hand through his hair. "What do you want?" He asked.
Mitchum smiled.
Before he could answer, John knocked on the door with lunch.
